Got lucky and got a last minute spot in the lounge for lunch. This was easily one of the best meals I've ever had. The Michelin star is well deserved. Appetizers: Lengua tacos y Oaxacan bugs with gaucamole. Tacos were incredible. Can't say much more other than, order them. The server recommended trying each bug on its own first, and then brought me some tortillas to make a taco with it. Highly recommend giving this a try! Main: Mayan Octopus. I didn't think this was possible but the octopus melted in my mouth. It had perfect texture and the flavor was The accompanying heirloom tomatoes were also perfect. So much flavor in such a small bite. Dessert: Goat cheese Flan with honey, lavender, candied pecans, and coco ganache. OMG. Perfect dessert for this meal, it was so delicious and light.

Wow! No wonder this is the highest rated restaurant in Oaxaca!! They recently received their first Michelin star in 2024!! The ambience here is incredible. Had no reservation, came in for late lunch at: 1:30 with three of us on a Monday. They said we'll seat you in 20 minutes. We were seated in 5 minutes at a great table. We each had three different entree's. I'll post photos of them all. Everything was absolutely delicious and the presentation and preparations were fantastic. Service was 5 star and certainly wowed us all. Make your reservation well in advance and you'll be rewarded!!

This restaurant had some of the best food that we've ever had. Much better than Pujol in CDMX. It's totally deserving of It's Michelin star. The restaurant is in a large open patio like space with high ceiling and very well decorated. It immediately transports you to another world. Service was very good and efficient and the food was too die for. We had multiple appetizers, including the outstanding ceviche. My aguachile entree was excellent and the tortilla ice cream dessert was very good. I would highly recommend and definitely make a reservation, as this place is very popular.

Service could be better. It was online reservations via their website which needs your credit card on file in order to book. Checked in at the front and the vibes felt off. The lack of enthusiasm and service from the host to the waiters were lacking and didn't feel welcoming. After 10-15 min, I had to ask to place an order... For a restaurant that is meant to be a fine dining, the service was subpar. We ordered the yellowfin tuna tostadas, mole sampler and beef tongue tacos for apps. All three were spectacular. Faves are in this order: beef tongue tacos, tuna tostadas and the mole sampler. For entrees, we opted for the chicken stuffed with quesillo and the shrimp tlayuda. It was a bummer, both of these entrees were anticlimactic... Appetizers were way better than the entrees. The interior was cool, open air with high walls. It does get very dim, which is probably part of their experience. Though it was a little too dark for my taste. All in all, if you come, I'd probably stick to the apps.

Possibly the best restaurant we went to in Oaxaca! And what a beautiful space too! There is no roof on the main dining area so you can look up at the stars, truly beautiful! The food was so tasty and we enjoyed the drinks as well. Everything was so carefully crafted, I can see why they are a Michelin star establishment. This place is not to be missed! We had the coconut shrimp, which we ended up getting 2 helpings of because it was so good, the goat cheese with green leaf (forgot what it's called, something holy), and a few other items that were all excellent. We also ordered dessert and let me tell you, I'm dreaming of that guava cheesecake! Spectacular, give me 14 of em right now!

This was our first dinner in Oaxaca, and they comfortably seated 9 of us in their minimal jungle-like restaurant. It was the perfect setting for a dark, romantic, and elevated meal. All the dishes were flavorful, but also not too rich; it seemed like an upscale interpretation of traditional Oaxacan meals. I especially loved the drinks here; they actually were tastier than the drinks in the upstairs bar called Selva. My favorites: Yellowfin Tuna Tostadas, Shrimp Aguachile with Chintextle, Mayan Octupus Dobladas

Potentially our top dining experience of the trip! Unbelievable ambiance in the evening - towering ceilings with an open air roof. Large water fixture with dim ambient lighting. Our server was incredible - beautiful oration and attentive service. The food was simply divine. Unbelievably fresh. Ace presentation. Telling flavor combinations. Wow, miss it already. Make a reservation and enjoy!

Really good service and really good food at good prices. Lovely interior, with enough but not too many options for each starter, main, and desssrt and the staff were very helpful in offering suggestions. Had the best beef tongue tacos and a delicious and surprisingly well balanced lava cake

The restaurant we visited was truly stunning, albeit on the pricier side. The layout was carefully designed, and a beautiful water fountain added to the elegant ambiance. In terms of drinks, I found them to be quite standard. We started with 2 mezcalitas, which were enjoyable but nothing out of the ordinary. The spicy Jimy cocktail didn't particularly impress either. There was another drink we tried, but unfortunately it didn't leave a lasting impression either. Moving on to the food, we were pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary bread accompanied by a chile de árbol salsa, packing a delightful spicy kick. The butter served was a regular garlic butter, nothing exceptional. However, the Mogo Mogo dish stole the show with its crispy sweet plantain stuffed with shredded pork and cheese. It was absolutely outstanding and definitely a must-try. The chile relleno, featuring Ancho Pepper Stuffed with Huitlacoche, Tamala Pumpkin Pureé, Goat Cheese, Baby Salad Greens, was not to my personal liking, but my companion thoroughly enjoyed it. The service truly stood out. It appeared that the cost was partly attributed to the impeccable service. I was particularly impressed by the detailed explanations provided by the staff when serving the dishes. Learning about how the dishes were prepared and where the ingredients originated from added a special touch to the dining experience. Overall, it was a good experience, but perhaps the restaurant was a bit overrated in my opinion.

Dinner at Los Danzantes was one of our favorite meals in Oaxaca! If you're planning a trip, make a reservation NOW. This spot has 1 Michelin star, along with a green star for sustainability. Very well deserved! The vibe and service are absolutely on point, and the prices are very good if you're comparing to nice restaurants in the states. We started with a couple cocktails, which are made with their house-made mezcal. If you enjoy a cocktail, definitely get one here! Then came the mole tasting with plantain dumplings. This includes 5 of the 7 moles of Oaxaca and was a great way to taste them - eating a bit by itself and then with the plantain were different experiences, and both were stellar. Be warned: this dish is quite filling! But we ventured on to the blue corn gnocchi in a toasted tomato & mezcal sauce. We were unsure how the mezcal would taste in the sauce - it wasn't overwhelming at all, and kind of reminded us of a vodka sauce. SO good and very unique! We ended the meal with the guava cheesecake, which had a cookie bottom and mamey seed cream on top - plus some pretty gold leaf. This dessert made this guava fan very happy - it was creamy, crunchy, sweet, and a bit tart. We left very full - of amazing food and happy memories!

If I could give this Michelin Guide star restaurant 7 stars I would! I think this was the best place we ate on our trip to Oaxaca last week. They were fully booked online but we walked by the restaurant an hour or two before they opened at 1pm last Monday and I asked if they could squeeze us in for lunch and they did, and I am so grateful! One of my favorite drinks is The Last Word and they had it on the menu with mezcal, so of course I had two. ;-) The 4 of us ate everything on our plates. They had great veggie options for our veg friends. The chocolate desert was absolutely incredible. It was easy walk from our hotel, the staff were friendly, and our waiter was the perfect amount of attentive that a wait person could be! They even had this unique smoke generator and fans to ward of mosquitos that did not smell like citronella which made the patio experience even more lovely. I highly recommend Los Danzantes!

Absolutely fantastic. Worth all of the hype. A little expensive but worth every penny. Make a reservation beforehand if you want to go for dinner, otherwise you can do what I did and walk in during lunch. Place is stunning. Somewhat open air but not excessively hot. Utensils, dining ware, etc are all beautiful. I ordered the moles tasting as an appetizer and the tlayuda with camarones for my main. To be honest, it was way too much food. I could have been happy after just the appetizer. I also ordered a mezcal tasting which was $300 pesos for 4 one-ounce tastes; imo a great deal. I would definitely recommend getting it unless you're more in the mood for a cocktail. Restrooms are clean and pretty. Johnathan was my server and was fantastic. Would absolutely go back.

If you need a place to escape the midday Mexican sun while simultaneously enjoying one of the best culinary experiences in Oaxaca, Los Danzantes is it. Happened to snag a late afternoon reservation day-of (after sleeping in from a late night) and I'm so glad we were able to go as it ended up being one of my top three meals while in Oaxaca. The space itself is stunning with an outdoor open air vibe and a little infinity pool-like installation. Everything is shaded so the temperature is perfect and you can even experience a light breeze. The service was great and the food was even better. We started with the mole with plantains and tostadas, followed by the shrimp and octopus and chorizo dishes. Everything was great and beautiful in presentation. My personal favorite was definitely the octopus + chorizo. We were only two people and it ended up being a lot of food, but they don't rush you out of the restaurant so you can feel free to sit in for a few hours and pick until your stomach's content.

We had one of the most amazing experiences at this restaurant for lunch. We tried to make a reservation for dinner, but they were completely booked so we went ahead and did second best, which was lunch right in the center of the restaurant... the atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous lotta recycled, materials, beautiful history in the building.. the food is over the top delicious five star all the way. The service was amazing , margaritas on point. And the fresh multi flavored corn tortillas with the chipotle, salsa and salsa Verde. With a little bit of a baguette and chocolate butter. Yum! I can't even express how delicious this meal was ... We will definitely be back. My recommendation is make a reservation. It's not a super large restaurant. . It is dog friendly.

2 Michelin stars? Yes for the concept no for our experience. Service- total fail. Waited for 35 minutes for our first cocktail and were prompted to place our desert order before entry service as the kitchen was closing. Short ribs tough and lasagna very salty. Presentation is stunning. Beautiful space but the food fails.

What an experience. Reservations are definitely needed to guarantee a spot for dinner. We had a party of six so reservation were definitely a must. The interior of this place is beautiful and a little like your dining in a cave. The service was top notch and the food, the good was incredible. We shared everything family style just so we could try more food. Not the classiest in a place so nice but we tried so much and didn't regret a bit. Hoja Santa was my favorite as it was so different with a little citrus hint but you can't go wrong with the shrimp tlayuda, or various moles. The meszcal tasting was good, and the various cocktails were will balanced and not too sweet.

Came here for lunch and had amazing cocktails. Had two different tuna dishes and both were amazing. The atmosphere is great!

Los Danzantes Amazing hidden gem in the middle of Oaxaca. Los Danzantes mission is to generate a social, sensory and emotional experience through a gastronomic encounter based on traditions and products of origin. Good, clean and fair product. Respect for the environment. Consciousness of responsible consumption. Their food is exceptional and should be recognized as one of the best in Oaxaca and even in all of Mexico.

I'm very sorry to say that this place did not live up to the hype or price tag. We had an enjoyable meal, but I was disappointed with service. The mole sampler was a novel choice, and each of the moles is wonderful in their own way. I personally thought that the plantain dumplings served with them have a sweetness that interferes with the experience of the mole. I would've much rather had tortillas or tortilla chips with a more neutral base. If I returned, I would ask for exactly that. We had the stuffed pepper and stuffed chicken, and both were good, probably one of the most perfectly cooked chicken breast I've ever had, wonderfully moist. Here is where I got frustrated. Our waiter had disappeared before the entrées were delivered - we did not see him to order additional drinks i(we would have) inquire of the entrees, or anything else. I had finished my entrée, and was looking around for him. A manager asked how my entrée was and I said good, and he smiled and kept walking leaving me sitting there with my empty plate. At this price point diners should never be sitting with empty plates wondering what should come next, so a failure of management as well. About the time I thought I was going to have to get up and go look for someone, our waiter reappears. I told him I thought he had gone home - he looked a little guilty, like he had been caught off the job, did not apologize, just took our plates, not offering additional drinks or dessert, returning with the check. We were celebrating a special birthday, so they did deliver a gratis cheesecake with guava cream, which was spectacular. So very appreciated that part. I heard other tables getting fantastic personalized service from engaged knowledgeable servers, so we were just unlucky in our assignment. I hope management reads this and realizes they need to keep a better eye on things to ensure consistent excellence in service. In a city filled with so many amazing food offerings, the only reason to make a reservation or wait would be an outstanding all around experience, and this fell short for me.

It's wasn't bad. The service was on point. Wasn't impressed with the drinks. The food was good. Seems like this restaurant is stuck in between buildings. All you see is adobe walls around you, so not much of an atmosphere there. But all in all it wasn't terrible. Nice experience but I doubt I will be back. To be completely honest There are other restaurants around that offer so much more

Another of our must tries when in Oaxaca and it did not disappoint. Made reservations for a Saturday as it gets really busy and glad we did. We heard a couple in front of our group have to wait :45 minutes to be seated. Now while it may be worth it it's just easier to reserve. The food here is amazing! Every dish we tried, also the drinks, were special and on point in flavor. The interior of the space while semi open, is very calm and welcoming. There was some light drizzle we felt during our visit but it didn't affect our experience. Would highly recommend for any type dinner, but ambience is more dressy than casual. The space isn't big but big enough. It's right in center of Oaxaca so it was easy access to us. Will be back for sure!

Los Danzantes is a truly stunning restaurant and I wish that we dined there on a non rainy day as they close the ceiling when it rains which takes away from the alfresco dining experience. The service is immaculate and precise and everyone is friendly. I cannot say that I was in love with the food and I think that was also the case for the other members of our group who are foodies. I heard from a friend that the octopus was chewy and another mentioned that the chicken breast lacked flavor. I thought that the Caldo soup was a little too heavy and yellowtail tuna ceviche was too runny with an excessive amount of sauce. However the atmosphere was great and we enjoy spending time together

We had our second dinner in Oaxaca at Los Danzantes when we were visiting Oaxaca a week or so ago. What a gorgeous restaurant. We shared the Mayan octopus dobladas, blue corn gnocchi, and a fish entrée (Yellowtail from Ensenada Baja California, Traditional Oaxaca Green Mole, Parsnip Purée, Sorrel). The dobladas were the winning dish for us, I liked but didn't love the other two dishes. We didn't order much that night because we had eaten a lot all day and weren't too hungry! We also tried a few cocktails: mezcal aviation, Calmante, Trapiche; they were mostly very good (the Calmante was a little heavy handed on the chamomile - syrup? - that it ended up like a Sleepytime Tea cocktail, so I'm glad I had it at the end of the meal. I wasn't blown away by the food, but I was blown away by the ambiance. The restaurant is gorgeous (open air)! It's definitely a showstopper if you're visiting Oaxaca. I'd definitely give it another try as far as the food goes (it wasn't bad, it just wasn't like "oh my god i love it yum" either), but I'd also be happy to get cocktails at their cocktail bar Selva as well!

We celebrated our 12th anniversary with a reservation at Los Danzantes!I did a lot of research to find a special place while we were in Oaxaca to celebrate. We were amazed at the beautiful ambiance upon walking in. We were seated in the far corner from the entrance, with a view of the entire restaurant. There was a cover but it was open air, with a lot of beautiful lights. Our server Luis was very helpful and kind to us. We started with two appetizers, the tuna tostadas (delicious and small bites, not the large ones like at Entremar in CDMX), and the mole sampler. The mole sampler had plantain dumplings to dip into five different moles: negro, chilchilo, rojo, mole manchamantel, and amarillo. My favorites were rojo and amarillo with the plaintain dumplings. Eric R. really liked the smokiness of the chilchilo. For entrees, he ordered baby back ribs confit with apple-plantain puree. I got yellowtail in mole verde with parsnip puree. He said his dish was one of the best things he ever ate. I love yellowtail raw, and it is pretty dang delicious cooked too (I also love green sauces). Eric R. had a local amber beer and I had a house white wine (I told Luis anything but chardonnay and he got me a viognier). We declined dessert because we were so full, so he brought us two glasses of bubbly to celebrate our anniversary. It was an awesome meal and ended perfectly with the cheers. I highly recommend reservations here and it is a must visit when in Oaxaca City!

Restaurant was open and fun vibe! Food was delicious. Servers made great suggestions for me. I will definitely go back. Hard to get in but they let me sit in lounge area without a reservation! Great cocktails and plantain ball appetizer was delicious! Also fish yummy sauce! I will be back!

Loved the ambience and the fact they have some options that kids can enjoy. I also liked that we were not limited to a pre fix menu. We were a group of 6, so were able to sample a lot of different items. I honestly think that the tastiest item on their menu were the beef tongue tacos . The drinks were great as well. I wasn't blown away by the mole sampler though.

We made a reservation for 5pm about 4 weeks ago and was seated @5:30. At first 4 weeks ago we were a party of 6 and last week we changed it to a party of 9. A party of 9 does not fit in a table of 6, they refused to add another table so we were all squished at the table. We all ordered appetizers and food at the same time but my simple chicken stuffed with cheese was brought once my party was done eating. (The other 2 that were ordered were brought with the rest of the food). I let them know that they forgot my meal and said it was ready but still ended up waiting a couple more minutes. Everyone was done and my food had just got served. For a Michelin restaurant you would think that the service and food would be better. The only reason they are Michelin is because there veggies are grown here in house. As someone who is Mexican American I do believe this is a trap for those who are not from here and are tourists.

Love the ambiance, the food was really good. We only had one item that we didn't like. However the things we did like was the ceviche with maracuyá sauce, the beef tounge , and a shrimp ceviche. All of that was amazing. The soup we didn't really like but it was whatever everything else was amazing. Great customer service.

We've been here many times. One thing I can say is the mezcal is top notch. They have a ton of tasty food options, a lot of fresh vegetables and fish. The staff is super helpful, they are experts on local cuisine and provide 5-star service. The best part is the outdoor courtyard, it's beautiful and is a great place to eat. There are so many good food options in town, this one is hard to get a table, but we come back every time.

Jesus was awesome. We set a reservation about a month in advance and glad we did as they were booked on a Tuesday night. We told Jesus we were up for whatever and every dish (and wine pairing) hit it out the park. We had high hopes for this place, and they delivered. We will surely be back in the future.

My wife and I were visiting the area for a week and happened upon this gem of a restaurant, not initially realizing it was a Michelin-rated establishment. The service was exceptional, and each dish--from the appetizers to the dessert--was delightful and expertly prepared. If you're in town and looking for a unique dining experience, this is the place to go. Our meal, which included two drinks, two entrées, one appetizer, and one dessert, came to about $150 with tip, which we found reasonable given the restaurant's prestigious credentials. Highly recommended!

DO NOT LEAVE TOWN WITHOUT DINING AT THIS GEM. Having traveled to Oaxaca regularly over the past 25 years, I was privileged to be among the first diners at this, the finest restaurant in Central Oaxaca twenty some years ago. I remember the main course to my first meal here: raviolis stuffed with cheese and huitlacoche in a cream sauce. Muy delicioso. They have continued their cutting edge cuisine since then, continuously experimenting with local ingredients and traditions to provide uniquely Oaxacan cuisine: from arrayed moles to farm to table insects. On my last visit , I had a Chile stuffed with Chaplines, other insectos and other "stuff" seasoned with huitlacoche. My wife had roast chicken breast with five moles. The ambiance is also top drawer. Large open air dining room with reticulated stone walls, a bar and a pond! Note: if you can't get a reservation, see if there is dining space in the lounge adjoining the dining room. Comfy couches and a great view of the bar and dining space. I have never had a bad meal here, though the waitstaff can be hasty in turning your table. Just let them know you are not in a hurry and they will accommodate you

We've been to Oaxaca many times since 2021 and LD has usually been one of our favorite sit down restaurants. We came here two times in 2024 and would say that the service for our first visit (Omar) was ASTOUNDING, as usual. He is an incredible storyteller and educator and whenever we have had him, it makes the experience unbelievable. Our second server was very shy and slow, barely checking or or talking with us, we aren't sure if perhaps he was new...so that changed the experience a bit but overall it was great. The food is good, as it has always been... AND it is the same as it's been for years. After three years, we would have loved to see some new items on the menu, even sprinkled into the old favorites....to see the level of creativity pushed. Overall, it's a good experience and the food is good.

As good as it gets. Love treating myself to an extra special meal and having the bill come out to less than $50 USD. Reservations highly recommended but I was able to squeeze in on a late-ish (3pm) afternoon. Fabulous interior courtyard setting with lovely pond, trees, and repurposed materials. Service here is topnotch and its a favorite for US and Mexican tourists alike. In fact, I ran into a Bay Area couple here I met my first day in Oaxaca. It's one of their favorites, for good reason. Now I have learned that sit down restaurants here are extremely generous with their portions, so I tend to eat much out and save the leftovers for dinner. I don't have access to a microwave so I try to plan accordingly, which I did here. I ordered the tuna tartar appetizer, the shrimp tlayuda and a hibiscus flavored Cóctel Danzantes. Even before my appetizer, I was presented with a basket of tostadas and sourdough bread, plus a sampler of red and green salsa with a beetroot butter mixture. The butter was sweet enough to be a dessert. It was wonderful. I loved my tuna appetizers. Beef and pork are such staples here I find myself craving fish and seafood. Yummy little bites with a kick of fresh Serrano pepper. Then the Tlayuda came out. OMG. For those not familiar, a Tlayuda is specific to Oaxaca and is similar to a tortilla pizza. Very large, thin and crispy tortilla topped with various cheeses, meats, beans, we'll whatever. This Tlayuda had been cut into three pieces and absolutely stuffed with smoky grilled shrimp, crunchy purple Cabbage, stretchy chewy quesillo and amazing spices. I was able I eat one third and save the rest for dinner. This is another place I'd love to try with friends and further explore the impressive menu. Oh, did I mention they're recognized by Slow Food Mexico? Great place to try in el Centro

Fancy restaurant in Oaxaca with many tourists or for special occasions. Ambiance is dark and table is lit with a candle. Food was great, baby back ribs were good, meat easily came off the bone. Stuffed chicken was cooked perfectly and was not dry. Sauces were delicious. Quality of food here does not dissappoint. Bread, tostadas with salsas and flavored butter was served at the table before our orders were served. It was good. Chocolate con leche was a smaller size than how it is served at other places. Service was a bit slow, we were seated at the far corner. Overall, it was a great experience. Took off 1 star for price since it's also on the higher end even for the states. If you want a fancy experience in Oaxaca, I recommend this place.

Most of the restaurants in Oaxaca are housed in a building that appears to date back to the time of the conquistadores, but not Los Danzantes which appears to be the result of an expenditure of a significant amount of pesos to completely renovate a voluminous space into a modern oasis. A huge canvas sail covers the dining area, with a pool to catch the rain and a modern staircase leading up to the restrooms. I started off with a mezcal Negroni and as soon as I saw the "Oaxaca Bugs" I knew it needed ordering, if only for blogging purposes. While I wonder who came up with the name, I do appreciate their forthrightness as you don't want to order "five different regional bugs" by accident. Aaron, our server, was nice enough to detail each bug using a giant tweezer, including one that was more of a larvae. The Missus indulged my curiosity, though surprisingly wasn't much help on the consumption side of things. Quite crunchy though a little bland. Our small plates of ceviche, a mole sampler and octopus taco were excellent. A damn good meal with drinks(x4) for only $117 USD (tip incl.). BTW: Much like a below review our server disappeared midway through service only to reappear a half hour later.

My wife and I recently visited Los Danzantes for a late lunch/early dinner. We were very lucky to get the last available seats. Just a few minutes after we arrived, we saw a few groups turned away since there was no room left in the restaurant. Thus, it is critical to get a reservation in advance. To start our meal we had the Moles Los Danzantes which is the restaurant's mole sampler. This was the best mole sampler we had in Oaxaca. This phenomenal array of moles had many different flavors from lightly herbal, to candy like, to lightly spicy. Soft sweet plantain balls were perfect for trying each mole. For my entrée, I had the Ancho Pepper Stuffed with Huitlacoche. This tender spicy pepper was stuffed with juicy corn fungus which had a similar texture to mushrooms mixed with corn. The dish was paired with creamy pumpkin and goat cheese purees and rich cricket crackers. My wife ordered the Chargrilled Jumbo Prawns. These massive prawns were fresh, juicy and tender and paired nicely with a light and creamy green mole sauce. Finally, for dessert we had the Goat Cheese Flan. The flan was rich and creamy with lightly crunchy almonds, sweet honey and a hint of rich chocolate. Los Danzantes was one of my favorite restaurants in Oaxaca and a must visit.

Lovely atmosphere, great service, and plates were beautiful and delicious. Loved the used of recycled materials in the decor, peaceful and mindful details.

We had lunch at this spot. The ambiance was very calming and relaxing. It makes you feel that you are outdoors, but in a cool atmosphere. The mole sampler with a side of plantain balls was very appetizing and a good way to try all the mole. The menu is quite extensive with a good number of choices. The food is very well flavored and the presentation is beautiful. The staff is very professional and attentive. We ordered a flight of Los Danzantes Mezcal. It was presented in an interesting tray with a flavor profile for you to check off. However, overall, the flavors were quite harsh compared to other Mezcals we have tried. But the tasting could be a good starting point. Their drinks were very interesting, and one to try would be with home brewed cola in a bottle. A more herbal version of Coca-Cola. Well worth a try! Do leave room to savor their desserts. They are delicious!

We expected more from a place with a Michelin star. We have been living in Oaxaca for a little bit and our kids came to visit for the holidays. We thought taking them to a nicer restaurant would feel special. We were a family of 5 and ordered several dishes: (zanahorias glazadas, chicharrón de kale, tostadas de ceviche, fish of the day mahi mahi, pulpo maya, camarones en salsa agridulce, costillera, etc). They were all good, but not fantastic. The fish was not noteworthy, as the flavors were all kind of muddled with no real flavor standing out. One of the two pulpo dishes was undercooked, chewy, hard to cut and had that kind of stringy goo that comes from being undercooked. The best dish was the costillera which had a good harmony of flavors and the meat fell right off of the bone. The waiter rushed us to order and kind of impolitely used a tong to pick up the cloth napkins and placed them in my kids' laps (they are all adults) as if to say "This is the proper thing to do before ordering the meal". My daughter was insulted. We thought we would have loved the place. But overall, it was just pretentious and we will not return or recommend to friends. We had a better meal at El Olivo for 1/3 of the price and will go back there.

Ambiance 10/10. Service 10/10. Food 6/10. A lot of under seasoned dishes but the mushroom lasagna was to die for!!!!! We were a large group of 9 so we got to try a lot of dishes and all of us tasted each others food. We agreed the lasagna was amazing. This place is super fancy, servers explain every dish to you as they serve it. Everything is played beautifully and they pour the sauce into the dish for you. But needs more seasoning!! The margarita was really bad- extremely sour and undrinkable. Make sure to check out the bar upstairs while you wait for your table.

Spectacular ambiance. The drinks are so flavorful and a beautiful balance of tastes. Get the tomato salad. You would be a fool not to. The Tlayudas was giant and the octopus were great! Make a reservation for dinner wayyyyy in advance. Lunch we got in without a reservation.

Los Danzantes delivered my favorite dining experience out of everywhere I ate during 5 days in Mexico! Ambiance: - Every inch of the dining space is sophisticated and beautifully decorated. From a candle and flower-lined pond with tiny flowing waterfalls to the ridged walls adorned with a gigantic skeleton, the venue itself is a feast for the senses Service - We came during Day of the Dead, and were able to put our name down in person. We only had to wait 2.5 hours, which is amazing considering how popular the place is. We planned this ahead so we could walk around and work up an appetite ahead of dinner - The servers were all very friendly and helpful. When they detected our Spanish was sort of terrible, they were able to switch to English Los Danzantes (Spanish for The Dancers) - My favorite part of the experience was that there was an amazing dancer, in full Dia De Muertos attire and makeup, casually sauntering around the tables, performing the whole night! Her moves were mesmerizing and she never broke character despite guests or waiters walking all around her. Food - so good! Our group of 4 tried: - Free bread and tortillas with salsa and butter - Mogo Mogo: Plantain molote stuffed with wedding stew - so tasty!! - Various cocktails with mescal and guayaba - Tuna ceviche on tostadas - Esalada Crocante with walnuts and veggies - Linguine Albondiga - Fish of the day - Costillar - Roasted Cauliflower - Guayaba Cheesecake - Goat cheese Flan - Chocolate tart Price - All of the above was $152 USD, or $38 USD each! Such an amazing price considering how amazing the food, ambiance, and performance was! I highly recommend making a reservation here for a memorable meal in the heart of Oaxaca!!

Drinks and appetizers were great but when it came to the main course our table was disappointed. Food was not what we were expecting. Food was very bland & was not finished on any of our plates. It was an overall disappointment. Would recommend the bar though. Drinks were excellent

If you are vegetarian, its best you skip this spot. Even if you aren't vegetarian, consider skipping too. All of my plates were half thought, had zero sazón (flavor), and were overpriced (as expected). This is definitely a tourist spot for retired Americans with no taste buds. If you are looking for tasty Oaxacan food, unique flavors, go to mercado de Abastos or a street vendor. You wont spend more than $50 pesos. Giving two stars for good service and good cocktails. I let some Oaxacan locals about my experience here and they laughed at me for falling for this tourist trap restaurant.

We had an amazing experience. There were 7 of us and everyone had a great time. Our waiter Fernando was amazing. The food was outstanding. We ordered Hoja Santa, Tacos de Lengua, Caldo Tlapeno, Camarones al coco, Pechuga de Pollo, costillar de cerdo and the desserts all of the we tried good.
