We drove 2 hours from Charlotte for lunch! There are only a few things we missed from California and this was one of them!!! Absolutely the best!!! The owner was super attentive and sweet, the staff was very pleasant and the food hands down the best! We brought a cooler to bring burritos home and freeze and the owner asked us if we needed ice.

Finally… Del Taco HAS COME BACK to North Carolina. This place was worth the wait, as delicious I remember from California. The location was clean, super friendly, and the food was hot and fresh. So happy to have Del in the Triangle.

Third time eating here since they have opened and I had a little hiccup last night with my order around midnight on 7/17/2025. Today 7/18/25, Varlie showed amazing customer service and making sure my order was correct with fresh tasty good. The drive thru staff very friendly. Keep up the great work! I would definitely recommend the loaded queso nachos, fries and desserts.

10/10! Had 4 cars in front of us and we moved thru pretty quickly. Customer service was excellent and got everything we ordered 👍 my toddler loved the loaded queso nachos with beef! I got the grilled chicken guacamole burrito and it was still super hot 20 mins later after feeding my baby 🙌 shakes are perfect texture and not super thick that you can't sip it thru the straw. WE WILL BE BACK! 🥰

Umm long line burrito is ok, carne asada fries was burn, dish was thrown together and was nasty 😒 I wouldn't recommend you go waste your money if you love real Mexican stick to your go 2's. I didn't finish either dish and feel like I was robbed🤷

Finally Del is here and it is legit! Everything tastes just as it should. The staff is always working hard, the inside is always clean, and your food comes out quick. I had an issue with a cashier not knowing how to charge some items, so I was overcharged. I hope that’s just a training issue and will be solved in time. I can’t be mad, they’re brand new and killing it. I hope they stay open for 100 years.

We used to eat at Del Taco when we lived in GA and loved the food, so we were super-excited to visit the new restaurant in Durham. We were not disappointed; they served up the same great (and cheap) tacos we remembered, and the kiosk ordering seemed to work pretty well. The staff was friendly, our order was ready fast, and the place was new, clean, and shiny -- as good as it gets for a fast food place. Del Taco rocks!

Yelp
I am a native Cali Girl and transplanted to NC about 4 years ago. The only thing I missed from Home was Del Taco. I'm over the moon in love with this location. Their food is fresh, tastes just like I remember and the employees are all very nice. I will be a Del Taco fan forever. No Taco Bell for me. Recommendations: Chicken Quesadilla Grilled Chicken Soft Tacos Del Beef Burrito The Del Taco Cheeseburgers French fries Well... everything on their menu! Enjoy!

Yelp
Yes, I'm from California and have been waiting for Del Taco to open. If you think my nostalgia will sway my review, you're correct. The first bite of my chicken burrito brought me right back to the 1990's and my Clairemont Drive home location. I also had to get a bean burrito (for science) and it was piping hot! So delicious with some mild sauce. Del Tacos mild sauce has a real black peppery flavor to it that just hits different than the bell. And sadly this was the best tortilla I've had in a while (that was not from a sit down Mexican restaurant). The location can be difficult to get in and out of, especially if it's busy (Don't try to park toward the back left of the building - you'll get stuck and have to back out). Those working the drive thru were kind and patient. My husband ordered nacho fries and she said we don't have that. It's fries with queso on it - a West Coast Del Taco staple! She was able to accommodate and life can go on. The outside of the building is cute, minimalist compared to how remember it looking, but it's nice. I agree with other early reviewers that breakfast service would be a nice addition. Come check it out. If you don't like it, more for us West Coast transplants.

Yelp
To the point positive and negative review: + Open till 3am + Friendly and helpful staff + Good enough seating in lobby + Food about on the level of Moe's (above Taco Bell) - They have no breakfast? (major misstep being on the edge of RTP with people coming into work) - The traffic pattern around the restaurant is terrible (Don't come in from the gas station or try to drive around the building unless in the drive thru) -Overhyped because transplants from the west are excited about a taste of home. (Nothing wrong with this! Still overhyped though) -They have a burger on the menu. If you're going to a place called Del Taco and ordering a burger with Cookout being right across the street please stop what you are doing and read a few more of my reviews. Overall if I was in the area I would stop here but it's not worth making a special trip for unless you've grown up around it. If they open up breakfast it may be a different story we'll see! 4 Stars rating based on fast food restaurants only.

Yelp
First day and opened promptly at 9 AM. Tons of employees and corporate present. For the most part things went smoothly. It's not big inside but things are laid out so that there's more seating than I expected. I was first to receive my food, even tho third in line. Just got a simple order of a snack taco and drink. The hard shell taco was fresh and stayed together without cracking into pieces unlike the other place. The filling was good and cheese and lettuce was ample. No tomatoes on the snack taco, but for $1.25 it was fine. I was disappointed to learn they won't be serving breakfast at this location, although a corporate person said that might change if there's a demand for it, so you all know what to do!! So welcome back to Durham, Del Taco. Breakfast burritos would definitely be a welcome addition and so would bringing back the salsa bar!!

Yelp
Finally has opened! Wasn't busy at all and was able to get in the drive thru rather quickly. Came to find out breakfast isn't being served here which is strange. The design of this building is super modern and eye catching. The food itself seemed just like you'd get it out west. I'm sure they still have some kinks to work out but overall they are doing great!

Yelp
First, the Del Taco website doesn't know this store exists on August 4. Second, the parking lot is so crowded because they had at least 20 employees. Fine, some were trainees observing. I ordered the street taco. Bad choice. It was tiny, oil soaked and soggy. There was no ice in the drink machine. You've got 20 people here, can someone take care of the drink machine? This location is doomed. It didn't work for KFC, Sisters Kitchen, a great Caribbean place, and a terrible Sushi/Thai place. The traffic flow from the street is one way in and one way out. If the food and service was better, I would feel bad about it. Surrounded by Chik Fil A, McDonalds, Wendy's, Popeyes, Bojangles, Cookout and some good local options, they are the next failed restaurant at this location. Nice building. Too crowded.

Yelp
Moved from San Diego so was super excited to try again. Not sure if this location but food was definitely different. Ordered grilled chicken tacos which are cubed and even picture in menu shows them cut up. Then we were given some weird mushed meat like cat food. Place was packed so didn't wanna give it back but that's not how it is

Yelp
GRAND OPENING I was there Monday, July 7, 2025. The opening date was pushed back time-and-time again. Poor communication of new open dates became ridiculous, e.g. "opening fall 2024" became "early 2025" to "April," then "May," and on June 2, still said open "May" then finally "June" and "July." The Del Taco telephone customer service line, professional sounding folks, had no idea.... after 15 minutes, "check the website." THE FACILITY Nice new, sunny, clean indoors but MAJOR property design problems: 1. Narrow, hazardous traffic lane to drive-thru 2. Insufficient parking spots 3. Conflict between backing up from parking and those funneling into the drive-thru lanes (or coming from them) 4. Traffic turning in from Hwy 55 has almost no safe place to wait in line due to poor traffic design 5. Only two register/kiosks (not enough at rush hour) 6. Only one "regular cash register" (unmarked, almost hidden) From an investment/efficiency standpoint....TERRIBLE. Lost LOTS of money in MONTHS of delays, lack of notice to public. Facility not built for the traffic flow footprint; worth a lawsuit settlement. THE FOOD I've only eaten at any Del Taco a few times; it is clearly better than Taco Bell. The food quality is better, and the food is noticeably fresh! bean burrito with extra "green" sauce- For about $2.50, heavy and delicious, the beans, tortilla and green chile. "The Del Taco"- about the size of two regular tacos- very good; EXCELLENT with added cheese, almost 1/2 a meal, one taco. grilled chicken taco (soft)- great taste milkshakes- GREAT taste. I hear they have a mini shake size which would be perfect size for a snack hamburgers- better than a McDonalds cheeseburger, but not by much VALUE FOR MONEY You need to know your way around their menu: I'm still learning. They have specials in-app and the national chain advertises great specials like 2 for 1 tacos, etc. but don't seem to be at this store. E.g. they advertise $5, $7 and $9 boxes that are tremendous deals, but not at this location. No breakfast (yet) at this location. We found that a full combo, e.g. 2 Del Tacos, french fries and drink ($9) with an added bean burrito with extra green chile sauce and a grilled chicken taco totaled $15- enough for two people, and you are full! Ordering a la carte and customizing seems the cheaper way to go. More like $12 for two people, and a lot of food. SERVICE/ TECHNOLOGY Way too many employees for an efficient operation- like 20 black- shirted employees- a ridiculous number. Milling around. I received the wrong order. Apparently no mustard, employee kept saying "honey mustard." However, one smartly dressed lady helped me at the kiosk, helped me very much, caused me to smile. VERY DIFFICULT TO LEARN; getting reward points and applying them to free food items. They disappear. CONCLUSION The challenge will be keeping the facility clean and organized; and a professional bearing of employees. Food is very good and somewhat of a niche here in the Triangle. Beware the drive through and turning into and exiting the property- it will raise your blood pressure 10 points. You want to celebrate when you get through the gauntlet experience and actually get your food! IS IT WORTH IT? YES! It's an adventure, actually, learning their menu, fighting their technology and inefficiency. You need 30 minutes training to navigate the chaos only to find good food, reasonably priced, with LOTS of hidden menu items, specials. I like this place!

Yelp
Service was great. Food was hot. But 2 street tacos, regular fries and a drink was nearly $14! Definitely not worth the money. Sadly, quantity/ quality of what's given for that amount of money is the issue. You can't even order other tacos outside of the crispy chicken one, a la carte. No recommendation because of this... but glad to see u guys in town!

Yelp
Food portions have decreased drastically! One employee asked the manager shouldn't EMS get the first responder discount too? As the manager turned away, from 911 Emergency Medical Services, and told the employee no, that doesn't apply to them. For a company to advertise and honor first responders 4 days before the grand opening to a feel meal, to shunning away emergency medical service personnel on duty is absurd.
