I wholeheartedly recommend Delamar Mystic. This hotel goes beyond simply offering you accommodation during your stay in historic and charming Mystic; Delamar is an experience in and of itself. Newly constructed, this hotel is modern but maintains thoughtful and tasteful design. The nautical theme is present throughout, from the compass mosaic in the elevator, to the wooden boat suspended in the oyster bar, to the brass drawer handles shaped like boat knots. The style flows naturally with the beautiful blue Mystic River visible from every room, the lounge, and the hotel's restaurant, La Plage. The waterfront construction was not finished during our visit, but I am sure that the pool and outdoor seating will be beautiful additions.
The hotel is located on the eastern bank of the Mystic River and conveniently situated between Olde Mystic Village and Downtown Mystic, offering easy access to the Mystic Aquarium, shopping, restaurants, museums, and boating experiences. If you do not feel like driving, you can walk to most locations or take advantage of the free shuttle service provided by Delamar. Each time we called, we received a prompt pickup within ten minutes. Guests also receive free admission to the next door Mystic Seaport Museum, which offers exhibits on ship building in Mystic and an entire village of historic buildings filled with interesting exhibits and friendly, knowledgeable curators.
The finishing touch on Delamar Mystic is the exceptional hospitality. The staff are kind and polite, greeting us at every opportunity and actively seeking our feedback on our stay as they further refine this already outstanding experience. As someone who does not often stay in luxury hotels, I am so pleased to say that Delamar Mystic is worth the visit.
