We stayed during the soft opening and deliberately chose a room with a nice view. Unfortunately, we were assigned a room on the 3rd floor next to the exit and directly in front of a maid’s storage area. The window barely offered a partial view of the ocean, and there was a door right in front of our bed through which we could hear everything from the neighboring guest, including coughing and conversation. At night, the AC was also quite loud.
The amenities were from Bulgari, and we were so impressed with the body products that we ended up purchasing them for ourselves after the stay.
While some of the front desk staff came off a bit distant, we were deeply touched by a woman working in the evening who went above and beyond to assist us when several amenities were missing in our room—likely due to the hotel not being fully prepared yet.
Despite the breakfast being modest, it was lovely—bagels, salmon spread, juice—all simple but delicious. The exterior was still under construction, and the pool hadn’t been built yet, but I can imagine how beautiful it will be once complete, especially in the summer.
Everything was brand new, making the stay feel exceptionally clean and refreshing. Still, we were quite disappointed with the room assignment. It wasn’t peak season, and the hotel clearly had many rooms available, so it felt unfair to be given such a poor location.
It wasn’t just the fact that it’s a new building that made us happy—it’s the hope that cleanliness and hospitality continue even after the hotel is fully operational. If I visit Mystic again, I’d still love to return here.
