I went to the Juicery to listen to some music 🎶 it was very nice. My chocolate milkshake was delicious 😋 and Doug Yoeman and the The Low Blue Flame band were very good. Lots of people came to listen

Google
I absolutely love this park and try to spend time here every time I visit Buffalo. The Hoyt Lake section offers great landscape views as you walk around the lake. I also love the creek walk trail. There are so many trails/walking areas and plenty of green space to relax

Sarah S.

Google
Excellent small zoo and fun for younger kids. Lots of extras such as a carousel, train and simulated ride experience. Some exhibits are clearly aging and too small for the animals but the staff is excellent. Food at the burger stand was great.

Google
It was a pretty Park. There was golfing and trails. On this day they were preparing for a 5K. The park is really large and there are a lot of things to see in that area. Including a replica statue of David.

Yelp
Love living so close to Delaware Park. Visually very scenic and beautiful. Great for morning walks. It is equipped with tennis courts, basketball courts, Park area for kids, and golf course. Seen various kids sports games here as well as playe don a dodge ball league where we played here as well. Only grip, parking can be very difficult at times.

Yelp
I look forward to Summer Sundays when I can enjoy yoga in the park! What a wonderful offering in a picturesque setting. You have your choice of sunshine or shade. The backdrop is the set for Shakespeare in the Park. You may even catch a wedding at the Rose Garden while moving through your yoga poses! And, the best part - it's free!
google avatar

Tony L.

Yelp
A haven of peace and tranquility in Buffalo. You can rent a pedal-boat and enjoy the water in summer, plus the trails go around the lake and beyond to get some steps in, and who doesn't need to get a good walk in? Plenty of park benches everywhere. Just be sure to please do not litter the area. Litter can blow into the pond and creates a awful image of Buffalo, the Delaware Park, and of all who use the park. It just takes a second to remember to hold on to the trash till you see a trash bin, and dispose of your things properly. Please instruct young ones to do the same; learn by what you see, teach by example!

Yelp
This place has been a blessing this year of Covid! One of the places you can come and be outside safely. They took really good care of it this summer, and the lack of cars is a huge plus. Although, now when there is one its a surprise. You can walk here, cross over the highway and walk around the lake etc. You can make a short walk or a longer hike out of the park experience. Update 24 2021

Yelp
I don't think I've ever reviewed Delaware Park but I love it! Walking my doggos around the ring, playing tennis at the free courts, basketball games, playground equipment, grassy knolls, soccer & baseball fields, rugby games, golf course, zoo... There is something for everybody... you can hang a hammock between trees and lounge if you don't want activity... you can bring a grill and cook if you're hungry... People are generally friendly, the dogs are mostly well behaved (it's usually the owner if there is a problem), there is a happiness when you go here in nice days and a calm when it's gloomy out... Enjoy! Enjoy!
google avatar

Wayne B.

Yelp
The park is great, the playground is fun. It needs: -reunite the two sides of the park (the circle and Forest Lawn side) -increase the zoo size -get rid of the golf course- disruptive to families who use the park. At least the baseball and tennis is more controlled!
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
I love Delaware Park! The only downside to it is how the Scajaquada Parkway sort of splits the park. As the warm weather kicks up, Delaware Park is buzzing and kicking. There's a golf course and a part of the park by Hoyt Lake that is about 1 mile long which is popular among joggers and picnicers. If you're looking to have a picnic, a casual stroll, a golf game - Delaware Park is a great place to do it. There's even an adjacent Rose Garden with it's own review page on Yelp and during the summer Shakespeare in Delaware Park takes place (how I miss it and hope it will come back in 2022 or sooner!). The park is designed by Frederick Olmstead (who also designed NYC Central Park and Boston's Emerald Necklace) and it connects some of Buffalo's other parks.

Yelp
Truly lucky to have such a gorgeous, accessible park nearby! Perfect for a stroll in the sun, or the cold as long as you're bundled up. I've seen many different types of wildlife Including a beaver, turtles, exotic looking fish, and many species of birds and ducks. Also has many tennis courts and a Japanese garden. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I've only been to Delaware Park to golf, but I really enjoyed playing there. The course is a simple layout, but it's wide open and great for all skill levels.

Yelp
My friend Del never had much of a clue about anything, so I decided to educate him. You could say that I made Del Aware. In fact, I made him so aware that they even named a park after the whole thing. The crown jewel of Buffalo, and a place which I've been to so many times, I may as well live here. OK, confession, I do. I Yelp from the park. And I'm a dog. Please pet me. But really, Delaware Park is a beautiful emerald paradise in the middle of hell. Okay, it's hardly paradise, and Buffalo is actually lovely, not hellish - especially this lovely northern part of Buffalo. It's a wonderful and large park, complete with sexy rollerblading girls (and awkward rollerblading boys), with good looking basketball players, with okay looking soccer players, and lots and lots of boys walking cute dogs trying to use them to get girls' phone numbers. So basically it's a typical American park then. It really is a wonderful place to go and walk around, or play sports. I used to play for BSC International soccer team, whose home base was here, and it was an absolutely wonderful home base to play soccer in, good memories!

Yelp
Great park to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!!! Great family environment!

Yelp
This review is only intended to review the playground at Delaware park. I took my little cousins to go to the playground here since it is within walking distance from their home. If you are not aware the playground is located behind the zoo opposite of the zoo parking lot. It's a smaller playground but it is great for younger kids. It's usually pretty busy which is nice so the kids can make friends and interact with each other. For being such a large park I do wish the playground was a little bigger. There is plenty of space for a larger park. Just something for the park association to consider!

Yelp
Came here to watch husband run in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge and I got to check out the park a bit. I've only heard things about Delaware Park, but it's pretty big! We got a chance to walk around the outer "trail" of Delaware Park as well as check out the inside, and even though it was a rainy/gloomy day, it was gorgeous! Delaware Park has a grassy field area, walk-along-the-lake/Rose garden area, as well as an area with lots of trees (wouldn't quite say "foresty"). The Buffalo Zoo is right next door too. The only downside about the park is the parking. They have parking spots around the park but it's mostly one lane(?) of parking that's available. When there's a lot of people, you'll have to find street parking. :(
google avatar

Jurel H.

Yelp
Delaware Park is a huge multipurpose park. You have basketball courts, tennis courts, a section for soccer, a area also for practicing your golf swing, as well as a track for cycling or running. People also come here for events such as Shakespeare in the park, and exercising classes. The park is adjacent to the Buffalo zoo. So as you can see you can spend quite alot of time here. We'll worth the visit here.

I will E.

Yelp
Very nice park it has nice bike trail overall not dissatisfied. I would come here again.

Yelp
I read that Delaware park is much better than central park and it does live to its fame. I don't think I have seen a better park in the states. It is so pretty, so well organized, hugeeeee, clean. Rose garden, Japanese garden, Shakespeare on the lawn, picturesque graveyard, soccer fields, golf fields, a beautiful (assuming artificial) lake and sculptures all around the park... it is a must visit when you visit Buffalo. Right next to art museum and the zoo.
google avatar

Michael Z.

Yelp
The largest and best green space in the city! Ring road for walkers and bikers, golf course, tennis courts, baseball diamonds... Delaware Park has it all. All we need there is an enclosed dog park... Great space for recreation, a walk, a picnic.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
Delaware Park is one of my favorite parks in the city. it's great for biking running walking the dogs rollerblading skateboarding etc. You can also play golf here, have a picnic, read a book, work out, etc. It's a very serene place and you wouldn't even know you're in the city. There are a lot of weddings here as well as receptions at the Terrace.

Yelp
Frederick Law Olmsted, one of the designers of New York City's Central Park, is responsible for the design of Buffalo's entire park system. Delaware Park, at 350 acres, is the city's central park and counts the wonderful Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo Zoo, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society as intimate neighbors. Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin-Martin House, open for tours, is only a few blocks away. Although a small golf course and the Scajaquada Expressway have intruded on the character of the park, the park is still large enough to get a sense of Buffalo's grandeur, especially when experiencing the park at its Hoyt Lake. As Olmsted's Central Park languished for decades due to poor maintenance, Delaware Park, too, suffered. However, as the Central Park Conservancy saved its New York City jewel, Buffalo's Olmsted Parks Conservancy was created to rescue the entire park system. Their website, www.buffaloolmstedparks.org, provides good information and great hope for all of Buffalo's parks.
google avatar

Yelp
Delaware Park is one of six major parks that are part of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks system which is maintained by the Buffalo Olmsted Park Conservancy. Besides the major parks the Conservancy maintains several circles, parkways, green spaces and their facilities. This park as well as the other green spaces were designed by the famous Frederick Law Olmsted. The man that also designed Central Park. Delaware Park is broken into two halves by the Scajaquada expressway. The east side of the park is referred to as Meadow Park which contains a golf course, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, a walking circle that measures 1.89 miles around. Besides being a major park the Buffalo Zoo is snuggled along the edge. The west side of the park, more commonly referred to as Hoyt Lake is home to a more natural terrain where a variety of animals can be witnessed throughout the year. Hoyt Lake, originally known as Mirror Lake is the centerpiece of the park and in 2013 a 50' fountain was installed that is remminsant of one that was previously in the lake. Hoyt Lake is actually a widening of the Scajaquada Creek which flows through Forest Lawn Cemetery and out into the Niagara River. When taking a stroll around the lake please note that one full circle is approximately 1.06 miles. When enjoying this or any of the other parks please be respectful of other park goers and nature. Help keep our city green places clean!

Yelp
Delaware Park is a gem. The park is utilized in a way a park should be. There is basketball being played, bases being stolen, goals kicked in the net, birdies scored, kickball happening, dogs being walked, and runners and walkers galore. It is the perfect atmosphere for sports, a picnic, or just sitting down and talking with someone. Put this place on your summer bucket list. Maybe if you're lucky the buffalo will be out if you pass by the zoo portion of the park.

Yelp
I love Delaware Park, always have it's a staple piece of what makes Buffalo Buffalo. It's a nice place for a walk any time of year, there are always events going on, and it's one of the cultural centers of Buffalo steeped in history and tradition. On one side you have the larger park with walking track, baseball fields, golf course, soccer, the zoo, Buffalo History museum and trails. On the other you have the lake side with Hoyt lake, the Marcy Casino, the Albright Knox Art museum, the woodsier part of the park, Shakespeare in the park and so much more! I come here all the time, frequenting both sides for a casual walk, an event, or whatever happens to be going on. Come enjoy one of Buffalo's treasures, there's always something to do!
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
Delaware Park is lovely no matter what time of year. It's my boyfriend's and my favorite local park to take our pup. It is required to leash all animals, but it's upsetting that law rarely gets enforced. This park is perfect for walking, running, cycling, skateboarding, rollerblading, etc. Tons of grassland to play with your dogs or set up a game of volleyball or soccer. During the summer, there's Shakespeare in the Park. Huge request would be to add more garbage cans throughout the paths. There's only one around the entire lake, and additional around the entrance. I don't ever mind picking up after my dog, but still would be nice to dispose of the tootsie rolls rather than it tag along the entire walk. Probably would be less poo on the ground, too!
google avatar

Melisa M.

Yelp
This is without doubt one of my favorite places in Buffalo. I often come to use their tracks for walking/running. However they have so much more to offer. You can play golf, tenis, basketball... or just stop to take a break and enjoy the view.
google avatar

Aly W.

Yelp
I feel bad docking a star because of the whole "freeway through the middle of the park" thing, but it really does take away from both ambiance and convenience, especially when the added complication of roadwork makes it hard to figure out how to get to the part of the park you want if you're less familiar with the area. Case in point, the art museum and history museum are like a block away from each other but I didn't note a safe route between the two by foot. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but it's not readily apparent. In addition to the museums, Delaware Park is home to the Buffalo Zoo, a Japanese garden, rose garden, lakes and various other amenities, including a playground somewhere. It's a great park, but not the kind of place you can escape traffic noise and lose yourself in nature, or even travel with ease between park amenities and points of interest.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Took the metro to go for a walk here and it's mostly dedicated to golfing. Walking paths and large trees, but nothing overly special or unique about this park.
google avatar

Esh W.

Yelp
This park is HUGE! There's a whole zoo inside. A great area for walking or jogging. There's entertainment in the summer and you can watch a great Rugby game during the season. There's also a basketball and tennis court. Very convenient location for those who attend Canisius College or live in the Elmwood area around Albright Knox! I just wish there were more bathroom locations. Don't use the porter potties. They seem to never get cleaned
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
Delaware park, a lovely place! Me and my sister love to hang out near the lake or near the flower garden, its beautiful there all year round and just defiantly deserves this 5 stars!
google avatar

Saif B.

Yelp
Very nice and clean park. Soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts and a gulf course. All are in the area of the park. There is a small lake, middle of the park. A great place to ride a bike, walk and jog.

Yelp
Delaware Park is the crown jewel of the Buffalo Parks system. There really isn't a ton to say about the park that other people haven't already, but I really love that this park is within walking distance for me. When the weather is nice and things are clear, being able to walk down here and then do a circuit of the park is one of my favorite ways to get exercise. It's also a great place for people watching!

Chris S.

Yelp
Very large park with many uses (walking/biking paths, golf course, soccer fields, baseball and tennis courts, baseball diamonds, Shakespearean theater, rose garden, Japanese garden...) My only criticisms are that the 198 makes moving from one side of the park to the other unpleasant and inconvenient, and I would love to see a dog park added somewhere in the many acres of green space
google avatar

Cecelia C.

Yelp
It's all been said before. Historic beautiful park, unfortunately bisected by short sighted urban planners. I do wish the zoo had an additional entrance on the Colvin Rd side and some bathrooms accessible throughout winter. But happy they've added another water fountain (for people AND dogs) along the 198 side of the loop. And if they'd get rid of that absurd excuse for a golf course and create nature trails, it'd be damn near perfect.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
Delaware Park is a huge park with many activities available. From the adjacent zoo, to boating Hoyt Lake in the summer, to Shakespeare in the Park, to the playground by the Rose Garden, to running/walking/biking the loop, to the adjacent Albright Knox Art Museum, to the adjacent Buffalo History Museum and Japanese Garden, this park really has something for everyone. Many organized sports use this park, so you usually can catch a baseball game or rugby game or soccer game happening. There are also tennis courts and a golf course open to the public. While there are a few porta potties, there aren't a ton of actual bathrooms, so plan accordingly. :)
google avatar

Gloria M.

Yelp
Such a beautiful park. I love walking or running around hoyt lake! This place has such beautiful scenery year round, but especially in the fall and when the sun is setting
google avatar

Rebecca D.

Yelp
When I moved into my current apartment I was so excited. Sure, it's a beautiful North Buffalo home with natural woodwork. I was moving in with my fiance. But my excitement mainly stemmed from the proximity to this lovely park. Designed by Olmstead it really is a great spot. Sprawling across a small expressway and inching into two neighborhoods it is like a central park for Buffalo. The ring road is the part of the park that is "mine" and although it sounds boring it's quite nice for a walk, a short run or even a quick bike ride. Rollerbladers and dog walkers are also fans of this paved road! The zoo is close by and sometimes you can sneak a peek of buffalo or giraffes... pretty darn cool! The other side of this park has lovely Hoyt Lake and the Marcy Casino which can be rented out for events. My fiances firm had their Christmas party here and it was quite lovely. Certainly a great park for ALL your park needs!
google avatar

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Ive only gone in December pre-snow. I imagine this park would be awesome in the warmer months. Pros: huge grassy areas and lots of areas to roam. Perfect for walking your dog or to take a walk/run. Cons: geese poop (which cant be helped) and dog poop everywhere!! Beware!
google avatar

Patrick K.

Yelp
"What the heck! Where did this road come from?" - The turtle I saw bravely crossing the Scajaquada ********************************************************************** Designed by the same man that designed Central Park in NYC, Delaware Park is a beautiful haven in the center of the city. After moving here from Virginia, I was delighted to find a place where you can take a blanket under a tree as well as enjoy a Shakespeare play on a summer evening. It doesn't take long to find out that this park is special. Hoyt Lake sits at the center and is surrounded by willow trees that dip their branches into the water. As I've jogged by the lake, I've seen lovers sitting by the water's edge, a father laughing as he rows his kids on the water, and plenty of others walking their dogs or just enjoying conversation. With Shakespeare Hill overlooking the lake, providing a venue for Shakespeare plays on evenings throughout the summer, this portion of the park is enough in itself to warrant five stars. I agree with the aforementioned turtle in that the only awkward thing about Delaware Park is that the 198 splits it in two with a walkway providing a connection between the two. I enjoy the convenience of the 198 when commuting to work so I can't complain too much but in a perfect world where turtles don't have to risk their lives, the park would certainly be united. The north side of the park offers tennis courts, baseball fields, basketball courts, and plenty of space for golfers to practice their approach. You could certainly make a case that the park is appropriately divided since the two sides of the park definitely have different feels, the north side being more active and the south side being more tranquil. With such a beautiful park, I just wish the summer was longer here.
google avatar

Anita C.

Yelp
Coming from NYC, this is no Central Park, but I've come to really like this park. Too bad the 198 cuts it in half--seriously who came up with that idea? F*&%ing moron... I come here all the time to picnic, watch Shakespeare in the Park, field trip with students, take short and long runs, play Frisbee, and all around just hang out. Pros: -Hoyt lake (great for short runs ~1 mile if you run the loop around it) -Maintained well (I always see people cleaning, planting, pruning etc.) -Lots of space to do different activities (running, cycling, tennis, soccer, sit around, fishing, picnicing etc.) -Lots of different sections (Hoyt lake, Japanese garden, golf course area, zoo area, big loop etc.) -Big loop (~1.5 miles-1.8, good for running bc theres lots to look at.) Cons: -Not too safe at night (I used to work overnights at the Zoo and cars used to get broken into. Hooligan kids also roam the park at night being jerks. I personally wouldn't go here at night esp. after it got dark. But this place is totally safe during the day! Definitely bring bug spray if you're prone to getting bit. You're fine if you're running but if you're still you're going to be bait!
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
As far as parks go, this is Buffalo's crown jewel. I however would avoid at all cost the section between the Albright Knox and S-Curves. That section of the park is a prime example of what happens when city employees unionize and get 12 coffee breaks before lunch time. The water is filled with trash, cans, bottles, mosquitoes the size of a Mini Cooper, skateboarders on the staircases, etc. Stick to the Ring Road portion, near Nottingham.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
I love Delaware Park! It's big and beautiful, no matter what time of year. There are so many things going on in and around the park all the time. Hoyt Lake is my favorite part of the park. It's relaxing to sit by the water and enjoy the view. In the summer you can take a kayak or paddle boat on the lake and ride around, its very inexpensive and a great way to spend an afternoon. I love to bring a picnic and blanket and find a secluded spot to have lunch under a tree. There is a stage where you can see Shakespeare in the Park twice a week in the summer, for free! Bring a bottle of wine and snacks and get there early for a spot on the hill. You can walk or run around the lake or in the other side of the park by the zoo (sometimes you can see the animals poking their head over the fence!). This side is fun because there are lots of people and activities going on, and even a little juice bar with smoothies and snacks (Ashker's in the Park!). This loop has an incline so it's a great workout. I love to rollerblade. The Marcy Casino is a venue space in the park overlooking the lake and now has a nice restaurant. It's right by the rose garden where you can take a yoga class or dance lesson or listen to music. It's a great park to attend an event or just explore at random. A great place to relax and enjoy nature.
google avatar

Taylor H.

Yelp
I love this park! It's a beautiful and well kept large park on the North side of Buffalo. It's my favorite place to go run because it's just so big! You can run the track that loops the golf course/baseball diamonds/soccer fields/basketball courts, or you can follow the path past the additional tennis courts and over the 198 and run around Hoyt lake, the Rose Garden, Shakespeare Hill, and Marcy Casino. Or you can keep going along the same side of the road and enjoy the Japanese Garden behind the Buffalo History Museum and that beautiful pond. It's perfect for all people, and it's a good way to get in several miles. It might be a little crowded sometimes, but it's so big there are always places to find parking. Besides, most of the runners come from the surrounding neighborhoods, so they just run there anyways. Watch out for cyclists and dogs!
google avatar

Ralph D.

Yelp
For some reason I simply have either great ideas, unlocking memories from my past, or actually smiling when walking/driving through /jogging through Delaware Park. Maybe it's the crisp winter air, the beautiful sceneries or the Welcome "Hello" you get when one greets that keeps me coming back when it's 20 degrees. Either way... During this time... Despite all the cold... You can find such beauty just by a stroll through the park.
google avatar

Marykatherine C.

Yelp
I ride through or run Delaware park very frequently. I love that I am able to include both parts of the park-Hoyt Lake and Delaware park-on my commute to work most mornings. The park is excellent for bikers as we can avoid busy streets that don't have bike lanes. It is always clean and available for the community to use. All in all it is an awesome park that us Buffalonians shouldn't take for granted!
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Nice little park. Porta-potties are, surprisingly, clean. Seems well-maintained and on a quiet part of town. Came here when our friend dragged us to Shakespeare in the Park. I and some other people in our group ended up napping. Let me tell you, laying on a blanket on a slight angle is relaxing. Especially after a day of hard work of boating and drinking.
google avatar

Chelsea N.

Yelp
A lovely place to walk, run (if that's your thing), play golf, soccer, rugby, etc--or just peep at the animals in the zoo! I was here recently for a long walk with a friend. Ample free parking by the tennis courts. Nicely maintained track. Plenty of people walk their dogs here, roller blade, walk, run--and enjoy the park! I honestly wish I lived closer so that I could walk more here. Buffalo is very lucky to have such a well-designed park system!
google avatar

Maritza B.

Yelp
This is a nice park to get outdoors and enjoy the scenery. There are lots of trees. You can run walk bike roller blade or otherwise propel yourself around the track as many times as you would like to get some exercise as well as people watching and enjoying nature. There is a golf course, swing set, snack bar as well as Little League Soccer and other ball games.
google avatar

Yelp
With all the hustle and bustle of city life going on around it, Delaware Park doesn't let the noise of traffic and ongoing business effect the peaceful natural setting it has possessed since the late 19th century when famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted designed it for Buffalo. With its 365 acres there's a lot of attractions that will give a fun filled day for sports enthusiasts to theatrical spectators.Enjoy a fun game of basketball, tennis, baseball and golf, or go for a run or cycling. Getting out and active is what Delaware Park is all about, you may even meet some new friends along the way. To those that are into theater and arts, try catching a free Shakespeare in the park performance by the local Buffalo actors that volunteer and work very hard each year to put on spectacular shows during the Summer. You can find this event on Tuesdays through Sundays from mid-June to the third week of August. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. EST. On busy nights, it would be best to arrive at least 1/2 hour ahead of time. (Please note that the actors rely heavily on donations after the show, please be courteous and take the time to help them out for they do not get paid to perform on stage.) Got a dog? There's plenty of folks that bring their pet to the park to get their man's/woman's best friend the exercise and fun they crave all day while their owner is at work, this can help not only keep your dog healthy, but it allows you to spend time and bond with your pooch as well as getting your own exercise in which can boost your energy considerably. The park gets frequented the most in the sports recreational areas. Near Hoyt Lake is where the peaceful part of the park allows you to relax, think, write or any other relaxing, therapeutic activity you take pleasure in. There are many trees you can lounge under in the shade to avoid the heat, or to create a romantic setting for you and your significant other to enjoy together. I could go on for quite some time about the many different things that you can experience at Delaware Park. Unless you experience it for yourself you'll be missing out on one of the best parks in New York State. See you at Hoyt Lake!
