Great food and even better staff. The wine pairings were great yet affordable enough to buy a bottle or two for home. Even though I attended the 5 course Thursday, the menu offered options from elevated comfort food (citrus mashed potatoes) to adventurous (perfectly prepared octopus). I hope to attend their other dining experiences as time allows. I hear there may be a new 10 course offering in the near future? And more hands-on cooking classes?

We recently held a private event at DelecTable and the entire experience was incredible! Justin was super easy to work with and kept in touch every step of the way. The staff during the event was phenomenal and the food was outstanding as usual. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue and we can’t wait to come back! Thank you to everyone at DelecTable for such an amazing time!

What an amazing dinner experience paired with delicious food and drinks! We sat at the Chef's table and loved getting to see and chat with Chef Forester and his team. We will be raving about this place to everyone we know. It was the perfect experience to celebrate our wedding anniversary

We had a fabulous time! Great food, every dish was different, wine paring was wonderful. Every staff member was friendly and would take the time to stop to answer any question we had

Very unique and fine dining experience. This 8-10 course meal is exquisite. Five star service for sure, you definitely get what you paid for. About 3 hours with each course expertly paired with a cocktail, mocktail or wine that is then explained during each course. Love the fact that they have a whole mocktail menu that directly replicates the normal cocktails to make us feel included. I brought my 13 year old sister with me and didn’t want to drink with her with me. It was nice she was able to enjoy it just as much as everyone else. With that being said, she is 13 and her palate was definitely not enhanced enough for this meal. Very unique, delicious and sophisticated flavors. I really loved the blindfold course, leaving you discover what’s on your plate through your other senses. I loved almost every thing and plan on coming back.

A unique and elaborate culinary experience that will have your taste buds and your belly more than satisfied! Come spend an evening out experiencing fancy and flavorful foods and spice combinations that most likely are new to you! All the food is made in house using local farm fresh ingredients on a custom 8 course menu that is created to fit the fresh local ingredients! Chef Ben is both a delight and extremely talented along with Tyler the Alchemist who artfully matches drinks to your dining experience! The atmosphere is cozy, fancy, and you get to watch the Chef's work, cook, and artfully plate your food. There are 3 tiers of experience all at at different cost: Chef's table which is the most expensive where you are at the table they are preparing the food and can chat with them, General seating which you can see the chef make the food on the TVs, and bar seating which is the most affordable but hey the bar tenders are right there! I went here for a big birthday of mine and wow did they make it special. They left me a cute little card saying happy birthday and I left with a gift wrapped mini bottle of an olive oil from their store Vom Foss. 10/10 birthday, date, anniversary idea.

We were blown away by the new menu at Delectable. Added flame, continuity of flavors, and even more courses made for even more magic! We can’t wait to come back!

First time eating here and what a great dining experience in Madison! Located in Hilldale area with plenty of free parking. The concept is an open layout kitchen serving 8-10 courses which vary depending on what local ingredients are available that season. They also only do dinner service with the seating beginning at 6:00 PM. Cost breakdown: A $20/person deposit and $8 booking fee is required to make a reservation! $120/person + 20% service charge for bar seating at the table where the chef prepares food. Only advantage is it's easier to chat with the chef during the experience. This price is without wine pairing. $99/person + 20% service charge for general table seating. I sat here and still had a view of the chefs plating food. If I return I would pick this seating again. Food: The food is locally sourced, well presented, and tasted great. I especially enjoyed the blindfold course where you wear a blindfold as the waitstaff bring out the food so you do not know what you are eating. As each course is brought out, chef Ben explains the ingredients of each dish and where they were sourced from. There was an intermission of about 15-20 minutes where you could stretch your legs or enjoy complimentary samples of whiskey, oil, and other condiments. Another Yelp review mentioned the intermission was 45 minutes which concerned us initially, but ours wasn't that long. All of the waitstaff and chefs were super friendly and attentive. My only criticisms are that I was there celebrating a birthday and the birthday cake they provided was very basic, especially for a place charging $100+/person and the experience was 3.5 hours which is quite long for 8 courses!

Yelp
I am such a fan of Delectable. It's seriously such a wonderful experience and treat in Madison. To me it's up there with nook as far was unique, great quality food, dining experiences go. I've been twice, once on a Thursday and another time on a Friday. I mention that difference because the Thursday price is alot cheaper and thus has less courses. If you're interested to try their food, I would recommend doing that as they have alot of the same flow for the meal with both the chef and sommelier speak after every dish and drink pairing. I am a fan that it's behind Vom Faas, I think thats such a unique touch and there is usually an intermission where you can look around the shop and purchase items at a discount. Now, the Friday dinner is incredible, this is where they usually have the super unique touch of adding blindfolds, darkness, or weird ingredients. And since there are more courses, it's a longer affair. The servers accommodate any dietary restrictions and are very attentive. We were stuffed after both meals, and again it's a pricey dinner, but one that you'll enjoy! Come for a celebration or a good time and you won't be disappointed. Happy Eating!

Yelp
I was there for an eight course dinner. It was a fancy dinner. Most of the people were dressed up for the event. I took a bar seat, as that was cheaper and I was alone. I was the only person having dinner in the bar seat. Every course starts with chef explaining the food and the source of its ingredients. They will have a personalized menu with your name printed on it. I didn't go for wine pairing. I think that would have been fun. Dinner started with Canapes, which was 4 miniscule items. If anything it made me hungrier. Tipi farmed compressed cucumber was the next course. It was a veggie course close enough to salad (not salad though). J&S farmed purple and green asparagus was the next course. It was flavorful asparagus with some shell fish. They also gave fancy towel to wipe hands after this dish. There was a blindfold course, which was to taste 4 ingredients blind folded to appreciate its flavor without using visual sense. Right after that, a salad made with that 4 ingredients will be served. Spring green ramp risotto was a heavier course. This also happened to be my least favorite course. Something in the flavor combination was off for me. Before getting into the next course there was a 20 minute break. One can explore their wines, cocktails etc and can buy any. It was the time to stretch legs. Braised generations wagyu chuck eye can be treated as the entree. Though it is small to stand alone as an entree. There was a cheese course that followed with 4 good Wisconins cheeses. Finally there is the dessert course which was ice cream and stuff. The dinner took slightly above 3 hours. Because the 8 courses were spread across 3 hours I felt the food was adequate. Some people were taking boxes though.

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday and it was a chef set menu $100/pp. A $20/pp deposit is required plus $8 transaction fee. Plenty of parking. We arrived at 6 pm and it started around 6:30 pm with 20 other guests. You walked past a shop and the cashier checked us in. The chef explained each dish and the highlight was the blind folded one. We are a huge fan of omakase and did dining in the dark. Google those and if you haven't done any. Perhaps it's a good idea to try this first. Attentive service and 20% mandatory service fee. I'd like to have more seafood given the price point.

Yelp
Visited DelecTable for the first time, celebrating my birthday and it was truly a treat. Upon entrance, the venue has a bunch of liquors, oils, and various novelty spirits that you're able to purchase. Towards the back, we got seats in front of the chef and were able to watch him masterfully create the beautiful dishes. I was equally impressed with the both quality and taste of the dishes and the story behind each dish (chef would explain where each ingredient came from and always had a thoughtful reason for including). I will say I had not tried over half of the dishes / ingredients before and was so excited for the unique combinations and flavors. Truthfully, I was not a fan of a couple of the dishes but everyone has different flavor profiles / types of food they like (not a negative on the chef or the cooking whatsoever) it's me lol. The experience was incredible - there's a seasonal and ever changing tasting menu and chef even had a blind course (which was equally exciting and terrifying). We were given a blindfold and had the ingredients of a dish to truly isolate on the taste. Overall, so cool to have a unique restaurant like this in Madison and would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Creative menu, great execution and a simply fantastic staff that is super committed to ensuring you have a fabulous evening. Highly recommend this place, they also have a very nice wine and whiskey collection.

Yelp
We visited twice. The first time was the cooking class. We learned how to make Indian food. It was fun. You were not always eating the foods you prepared which sometimes could be a disappointment because you wanted to know how well you did. The second time, we did a chef's tasting class. It was a fun experience because we got to try different things. They were very accommodating with my boyfriend's weird citrus and shellfish allergies. Most of the dishes were very creative and delicious. There was one dish that we didn't like as much. That was the risotto with ramp kimchi. I think the ramp kimchi and the greens made the risotto too bitter. It was very creative but not my cup of tea. They also introduced me to a Wisconsin cheese that I became obsessed with, the Carr Valley Airco. Also, their dessert was so delicious. It was a chocolate mousse with strawberry ice cream on top. Overall, fun place.

Yelp
Fun & delicious dining experience for the chef's tasting menu. Thank you to the owner, chef & staff.

Yelp
If you're new to fine dining and coursed menus then this will be a fun experience. It's a very casual environment and the wait staff are very nice and professional. Here's the bad: there was a 45-minute "intermission" in the middle of dinner. It was abrupt and confusing. Other than Thanksgiving, who would ever need an intermission during a meal? It was presented as a generous gesture for patrons to stretch their legs, but in truth it's an invitation to direct those poor, cramped legs into the Vom Foss store right outside the dining room where you get 10% off--tonight only!! Here's the sad: don't expect anything special or thoughtful if you're celebrating a birthday. The birthday person at my table and at the table next to ours got the same deconstructed dessert as everyone else. Except the chef glued a generic birthday candle onto their plates with frosting. You get more effort at Olive Garden. I doubt the intermission will ever go away, but I genuinely hope that management considers that when a 3-hour dinner costs over $150 per person, it would be a prudent practice to make guests' celebrations feel celebratory... and not perfunctory.

Yelp
We had so much fun at DelecTable! The dining room was full but was not crowded or too loud. The staff were delightful and attentive. The owner, Justin, and the head chef, Ben, give their notes of the course before you begin. It was so fun to hear them talk about the food and wine, you can tell they are passionate about what they do! Okay, now for the reason we're all truly here. The food and drinks. My husband and I have been learning more about wines lately and had great fun trying out the pairings on the menu. We each had a full tasting pour and a cocktail before the meal. Each course was remarkable. Chef shared with us that the first half of the menu was his favorite and I could see why. I couldn't think of a single critique if I tried. The blindfold course was a truly unique experience. You put on your blindfold and a member of the staff brings you a plate with a small bite of each part of the full course, which you are served in full with a wine pairing, after you sample each bite blindfolded. The only complaint I had about the whole meal, and let me tell you, it is small. Is that we thought the Magic Molly Pomme Anna could have used a bit of salt. This however, did not keep me from clearing my plate. The strawberry ice cream made with liquid nitrogen was interesting to watch and delicious! All of this and there was an intermission where we had a break to walk around the vom fass storefront, sampling their selection of balsamic vinegars, liqueurs, and spirits. We had the best time and will absolutely be back, huge thanks to the entire DelecTable team for an exceptional evening.

Yelp
Soooo we went for a murder mystery evening! Justin, the host and owner, did an amazing job keeping it all moving. The food was delicious, drinks were flavorful and seasonal. Unique flavors. Prime ingredients. We laughed and giggled... don't we all need more fun in our lives? Our co-diners were great fun too. We all left totally full!

Yelp
Really great food and excellent value for everything you get. The wine pairings were great and appreciated hearing why they were paired with the dish. They also had a nice touch for the birthdays in the room with a surprise gift! The staff were pleasant and knowledgeable about what was being served. Area for improvement - the pacing is slow. For a 6pm dinner we didn't leave until 9:45pm. Almost 4 hours for dinner is too long.

Yelp
WOW! This meal was incredible. We went for the Epicurean tasting menu with paired drinks. Disclaimer, it was expensive. But it was so good and worth every penny. (Sign up for the club for free and get some money back in rewards to buy things in the store!) Every dish was made at the head table where we could watch on screens, then described in detail and served. The drinks were wonderful! This was definitely a meal to remember. We loved the steak and asparagus dishes, but honestly it was all amazing!

Yelp
This is a review for their Saturday night prime rib takeout dinner which I would highly recommend! For about $50, the portion sizes of each of the courses was what I expected and very filling. The prime rib came with roasted vegetables and smashed red potatoes. There was enough food to fill each person's plate and then some, which was great because I was really craving a home-cooked comfort meal. The other two courses were a Caesar salad (which was pretty standard) and raspberry cheesecake (more of a deconstructed kind of dessert than a traditional cheesecake). Overall, I thought that everything was delicious, packaged well to retain the quality of the food, and very reasonably priced. Their paired wine was about $12 and went well with the prime rib. It all made for a really great evening at home and I will definitely be getting more of their take-out dinners in the future.

Yelp
The food was exquisite and the ambiance was romantic. I loved every plate and it was perfectly paired with wines from around the world. The quality of food and service was exceptional! The balance between watching the show and enjoying dinner conversations was perfect. Highly recommend getting this on your calendar soon!

Yelp
All I can say is wow!!! We went for our anniversary and it was definitely the most memorable one yet! The whole production was amazing and the food was delicious. Highly recommend, it's 100% worth every penny!

Yelp
What a treat!! The European Excursion Culinary Dinner Theater was everything that it should be. Great food that was cooked by Chef Joel and his staff, presented by an exceptional server and delightful wines. Gabe was our host for the night. His knowledge and delightful banter set the tone for the evening. Gabe presented information about each wine that demonstrated that he knew his stuff. Betty was our server and she was hysterical. Great skills and commentary. During the intermission she kept serving us tastes of spirits. I left with an appreciation of gin. It doesn't always taste like pine needles. Our food portions were small and at first I thought that we would leave hungry. In true European style, if you take 3 hours to eat and you have 7 courses, you are full by evening's end. Chef Joel described each course in detail which made each course an experience, not just food. As you can tell, I was pleased with our evening and I highly recommend that you try it yourself.

Yelp
We had zero expectations and have lived in some areas with incredible food scenes. We absolutely adored our dinner experience Friday night. Not only was it delicious AND delectable, but incredibly fun. The team truly wants you to have a great time....and we did. Favorite course....foie vs pork belly and anything with sunchokes, and the cheeses. Wow!

Yelp
Had a delicious meal and entertaining evening at the recent dinner show, The Shrimp and the Hare! Loved the knowledge and expertise of Chef Jake and the humor of mixologist Phil. We'll definitely return for more shows!

Yelp
Great dinner theater and was able to try and buy excellent wines. The chef made beautiful courses that were artwork. The textured and deep flavor are unforgettable, a delicious dinner.

Yelp
Unfortunately the "cooking classes" are not worth the money. They are run more like an underfunded home ec class than an $80 cooking class. I signed up for a macaroon class expecting to get a lot of hands-on cooking/baking opportunities. Instead, I had to share materials and ingredients with two strangers and the instructor did most of the cooking. She did all the work involving the stand mixer and burner. Ultimately, all I got to do was pass the mixing bowl around my table to stir things a few times, pipe the batter (to make only 4 macaroons myself), and add the frosting and ganache. Additionally, the macaroons I took home were not really made by me. After each group's batch came out of the oven, the macaroons were all divided up between the 14 of us. So I was working with the food that others had started. In the end, it was $80 for 8 macaroons and watching someone else cook, which I can do on YouTube for free. I will be looking for other places in Madison where I can actually get some hands-on practice to prepare and eat my own food.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience!! Did the culinary dinner theater and went alone. I was seated with a kind, engaging, interesting, welcoming younger couple - great way to make a couple new friends. The venue runs the dinners on the premise of savoring and enjoying meals to make an event of it. 8 courses, wine pairing, and 3 hours of learning, tasting, and pleasant company. Worth every penny of a truly marvelous experience for such an affordable price! I will definitely go back.

Brandon B.

Yelp
All I can say is wow! Similar to other reviews I should mention that it's not cheap but our group of 6 couldn't stop talking about how it was worth every penny on the way home. We did the Chef's Tasting Experience on a Friday evening which included 8 courses and drink pairings (we did the half pour option which was perfect for us). Having a group of 6 we let them know that we had some allergy restrictions beforehand. This was not an issue at all as they either didn't serve those items at all or those with restrictions were given a different menu which was amazing. Very accommodating! Everything about our dinner experience was top notch. Starting with the initial check in, continuing with the in house music, all the way to the special show at the end, we couldn't stop raving about the experience. They describe the wine that goes with each course in great detail and then pass the mic to the chef who explains what we're about to eat. They keep things local as much as possible but also splurge for certain things when needed (shashimi). There are interactive courses that involve dry ice, blindfolds, and more! Honestly I can't say enough and will definitely be recommending this to others we know. Thanks for a great night!

Yelp
What an amazing experience this was. I took my wife for her birthday and it was worth every penny. The food was incredible and the stories behind the dishes were engaging. The mixologist was funny and his stories about the drinks were fun. If you're looking for a special night out, I highly recommend going here.

Yelp
This was our first time trying a dining experience of this style and we will definitely be back! Everything about this place is amazing from the service, atmosphere and definitely dishes. For never having tried something quite like this we felt incredibly comfortable and welcomed. They truly have a passion for what they do here and can't wait to recommend to everyone I know!

Yelp
Enjoyed DelecTable's Mid-Summer Tasting Dinner last evening. Fabulous food and drink pairings, great vibe with guitar and vocals by resident manager and musician Gabe, "host with the most" and owner Justin Gibson, executive Chef Ben, new sous chef Kate, and mixologist Tony all made this another memorable fine dining experience at VomFass' DelecTable. I highly recommend DelecTable for a special date night, a evening with friends, or just a change of pace dinner in the European manner of dining - taking time to enjoy each course and conversation with friends, both old and new.

Yelp
Fabulous is the first word that come to mind when describing our experience at Delectable. A one-of-a-kind celebration of my son's college graduation that we won't soon forget. Great food, wine and the staff was incredible. Can't say enough good things about our time there. Enjoy!!!
google avatar

Becky R.

Yelp
Atmosphere, service and cuisine were top notch. We were seated at the chef's table and it was well worth the nominal additional fee. I highly recommend Delectable and I'll definitely be going back!

Natasha S.

Yelp
A tipping point for the Madison restaurant scene. Last night I went to DelecTable with a group of 10 women and had one of the most memorable meals in my 2 decades living in town. Clear your evening and tuck in for this generous foodie experience. Their Michelin-trained chef offered one surprise after another over about 10 courses. The play of color, texture, flavor along with the wine pairings were exceptional. The thought that goes into every single course was evident. Justin Gibson, the creator behind DelecTable, offers something totally new to the community and I can't wait to go back and see how these next few years evolve.
google avatar

Suzie G.

Yelp
DelecTable ON THE PATIO! Seriously good eats safely prepared and served! A huge bright spot on the dining scene in this Covid time. Definitely worth venturing out for our 37th (?!?!) anniversary, but we'll be back next week! Every dish was unique and delicious. Real food excellently prepared by Chefs Nick Johnson and Scotty Wagner and enhanced with vomFASS oils and vinegars. Ooh, and don't forget the kickin' cocktail menu.

Yelp
Almost perfect! We did the Culinary Dinner Theater (8 courses). This is the first tasting menu I've ever had, and it was really fun. The atmosphere was quite relaxed. Each course comes with a drink pairing -- mostly wines, and a couple of cocktails, which were excellent. You get to watch the chefs cook and plate each dish. I'd say that about half the dishes were really really good... The rest were alright or had issues in my opinion. The steak, asparagus, and tomato dishes, and the rhubarb dessert were excellent. I found the chicken dish to be quite dry, and there was a leafy dish which was kind of... boring. There was also a Wisconsin cheese sampling course, which was small and just okay. A couple of dishes had roe, and I found many of the pearls impossible to pop (no clue if that's normal). Overall, a really fun experience, though I'd expected the quality of the preparation to be a bit better for some dishes.

Yelp
I have recently ordered two "specialty" dinners from DelecTable, associated with Vom Fass on University Avenue. I had heard about them awhile ago but forgot because they seem to fly under the radar. Too bad that because they are great! I first ordered the BBQ baby back ribs dinner a few weeks ago with all the trimmings. It was very tasty and extremely generous for the price ($40 for two persons). I shared it with a friend who is a big eater and I still had another modest-sized meal for myself on another day. Then, yesterday, I picked up (pre-ordered the day before) the Wednesday night wine dinner for two. $45 for a big dinner and a bottle of wine was really a great deal. The first course was a large and varied "autumn" salad with a whipped balsamic dressing. There was a container of steamed red potato chunks and another container with a large portion of Beef Bourguignon. I made this dish myself in the 60s and 70s, and I know what it should taste like. This was an excellent rendition with a very tasty wine sauce containing lots of beef and very nice mushrooms. The occasional carrot is not traditional I think but I like carrots and appreciated the addition. Dessert was a generous portion of homemade apple strudel. There was a little container of creme fraiche to put on the strudel. I will certainly order again! DelecTable is providing a very nice "fine dining" service for those of us who do NOT go into restaurants these days. Justin, the owner, couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. Just tell him what you want, and I'm sure he will do his best to please. Their website lists (and pictures) all the mouthwatering choices available each week. Some of them change weekly. Check it out! I forgot to mention in detail, when I posted this, the wine that came with the dinner. I had expected it to be a very inexpensive bottle of wine. But it was indeed an excellent wine, a rich and full-bodied 2017 cabernet sauvignon. The "house" was Scotto, a winemaker based in Lodi, CA. The Scotto family goes way back, with the first one arriving here in Brooklyn in 1903 from the island if Ischia, Italy. It's a great story you can read on their website at https://www.scottocellars.com/the-story/looking-back I really liked the wine a lot!
