Here's Where to Eat and Drink in South Africa

"I base Aslina at Delheim Wines, a family-owned estate in Stellenbosch where I buy grapes and blend wines; their garden restaurant has beautiful views of Table Mountain and I have a soft spot for the Cape Malay chicken curry — one menu item supports the Pebbles Project, which provides education, health care, and social services to farmworkers’ children." - Dorothy J. "Delheim One of the founding members of the Stellenbosch Wine Route, Delheim is a must-visit estate in the Cape Winelands. The experience here is very down-to-earth, providing a nice contrast to the more modern, gallery-esque tasting rooms you’ll likely visit on your tour. Located at the base of the mountains in the Simonsberg Nature Preserve, Delheim is surrounded by sandy soil that’s best for growing red varietals like cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and pinotage. The vineyard’s pinotage rosé and gewürztraminer are also delicious, which comes as no surprise since the founding family is of German descent. For an interesting twist on the winetasting experience, try the cupcake and wine pairing. Pre-booking is required, as the cupcakes are baked fresh daily."

A beautiful setting with beautiful views and gardens. Well maintained. The service we received was excellent. A must to visit and to enjoy. It was so tranquil I wished the had sleepover facilities. They do offer a picnic blanket to take a nap under the trees.....

Stopped by at Delheim Wine Estate last Saturday afternoon and wow wow wow! This hidden gem that’s worth the drive is absolutely phenomenal. When I say they serve some of the best wines, you will be sure to get a surprise. Went for the premium tasting which consisted of 5 wines and each one was just remarkable with nearly each wine reviving 5 stars on the platters award. Each sip was so smooth and elegant combined with the spectacular Mountain View’s of Table Mountain, what more can you ask for? This is why their wines are so expensive but absolutely worth every penny. It’s safe to say that they have one of the best Pinotage I’ve ever had and paired with the generous explanation and story behind each wow, this is the one you must visit. Absolutely amazing👌

I visited Delheim for the popular mushroom foraging experience. I can highly recommend this experience. The morning started with an educational experience around mushrooms and what we can expect in the form that day, followed by the foraging. After an adventurous morning, we were treated to a wonderful harvest table lunch and a personalized wine tasting experience, offered by Purdon. Please visit this hidden gem.

One of the best tasting experiences we had. We visited Delheim on a sunny day in winter and were amazed by the spectacular views and very welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted with mulled wine and if you are German even in German. (Delheim is over generations owned by Germans) We had the Fynbos cupcake tasting and absolutely recommend it. Not only very delicious, but we also learned a lot from Kenneth about the wines, vineyard and Fynbos. If you have kids, there also the option for cupcakes and juice tasting. We will come back to this hidden gem in the summer.

Friendly service and delicious wines. We enjoyed Gluwein prepared for the winter period. There are lovely events like Fondue, mushroom foraging etc. but make sure you book in advance!

Beautiful farm! Love the garden and its 300 years old Oak trees. The wine tasting was great and August was a great host. Kudus to him for making our visit so enjoyable. This wine tasting experience will definitely be remembered as one of may favorites the Winelands have to offer. Of to the next one...

Beautiful old wine farm in Stellenbosch offering a sublime scenery of the vineyards. Perfect place to bring some special to enjoy nice wines and delicious foods. And the staff are really friendly and if am not mistaken, their wine maker even won the best wine makers of the year!
