Delicate Arch is one of the most iconic landmarks in Arches National Park, and seeing it in person was truly unforgettable. The hike is about 3 miles round trip and moderately challenging, with exposed slickrock and steady climbing, but the scenery along the way builds anticipation and makes the effort worth it. When the arch finally comes into view, the moment feels surreal, and the massive freestanding arch set against desert cliffs and wide open sky looks even more impressive than photos suggest. Sunset is especially beautiful as the arch glows in deep orange and red tones, though it does get crowded, so arriving early or allowing extra time is a good idea. Wind can be strong near the top, so it helps to be prepared. Out of our Utah trip across five national parks, this was easily the best part and the most memorable experience. Wear sturdy shoes, carry plenty of water, and take your time to enjoy the surroundings—Delicate Arch is an absolute must-see and one of the true highlights of Arches National Park.
