The Essential Guide to Naples, Florida

"For a quieter beach day, this is my family’s favorite spot, with beautiful shells and a more subdued crowd than neighboring Vanderbilt Beach Park." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park

Google
One of the most beautiful places I have been to in Florida. The best bit was the pass right at the top. I walked there from car park 3 which took a while so might be worth parking at 4 or 5 but the walk was lovely. Toilet block as you first come in and then portaloos in each car park.

Matthew M.

Google
Please visit this beautiful Park to help with the monetary rebuilding it will take to bring it back to its full glory. Beautiful views, soft sand, great water, and for kids the waves are more mild and not so strong. Take beautiful pictures and videos as you enjoy what my Granddaughters call a "sundowner" at sunset !!! You also can find and see aquatic life here if you are patient. We used to go early in the morning right after sun up and sometimes saw manatees, schools of different rays and or fish.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 One of the best beaches in Florida! Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park is an absolute gem. The beach is stunning—powdery white sand, clear turquoise water, and peaceful surroundings. It’s the perfect place to relax, swim, and enjoy nature. We saw dolphins just off the shore and found so many beautiful shells along the beach. Even after the hurricane damage, the park is clean and well maintained, with friendly staff and easy parking. It’s quiet, never overcrowded, and a great spot to unwind. Highly recommend bringing a chair, umbrella, and snacks for a perfect beach day. I’ll definitely be back!

Chris J.

Google
This is a great place to hang out at the beach. Parking is easy and only six dollars for a car and they have a QR code so you can pay with a credit card. The walk to the beach is short and the beach wasn’t very crowded when we went on a Wednesday. Plenty of shells if you want to go, Shelling and the water is beautiful if you want to just hang out in the water. We saw a pod of dolphins that swam right by us while we were standing in the water and we saw three manta rays that literally swam under us while we were floating on our inner tubes.

Becky W.

Google
Lovely beach! Plenty of beach space so you don’t feel crowded! Portable bathrooms were clean and well stocked with toilet paper.

Fernando D.

Google
Great beaches! The park was damaged by a hurricane impact but it’s open. It has 4 parking slots. The fee is $6 per car including 2 or more passengers. You can pay via a QR code available or site or following an honors systems where you deposit cash on a blue envelope, deposit the envelope on a mail-like box and show the slip on the front window of your car. The beach is great, white sand and tranquil waters. In summer it usually rains in the afternoon so make sure you’re here early. Only missing a good facility with restrooms and showers, hope it happens soon.

Google
Nearly 3 years after Hurricane Ian, the beach sand that washed pushed across the park is still visible in the trees, and the roads are still broken. The beach is still amazing, and the sunsets are awesome. Lots of parking and a nearby bus stop and drop off area.

Zena W.

Google
What a hidden gem! Gentle waves and lots of shells. We saw dolphins and enjoyed a quiet afternoon taking the beach beauty. Perfect spot to catch the sunset. Plenty of parking. There are no public restrooms though, just portables by the parking lots.

Yelp
State park beach. Parking seemed limited but we were able to find a spot. This location is wheelchair accessible and they offer some beach wheelchairs if needed. Parking was $5. I have a Florida state park pass but didn't see an attendant to show it to. The beach was very clean. It's a narrow beach but long. Water was extremely clean and pretty. Saw a manatee and what we think was a giant grouper swimming by!

Yelp
This park is still only partially open with just two parking lots and a boat launch area. It is patrolled by one employee, who goes back and forth by golf cart to answer questions. There weren't any parking spaces immediately available, so we got in a makeshift "queue" of cars who patiently parked at the entrance of the parking lot to wait our turn for the next available spot as instructed by the employee. I guess we took for granted that everyone understood the protocol, because after about 30 minutes, when the first spot that opened up happened to be a spot directly behind us, the car that was 2nd in line behind us zipped in and stole the space. It was infuriating, and everyone around us agreed that we should've gotten the space. At first we were furious, but we decided to be the better people, breathe in and out, wish them all the bad karma in the world, and when we finally got an amazing parking spot, we gave them the finger at the beach. The beach is fairly narrow, but it is a pretty spot and we finally got to relax and remember why we were actually here to enjoy the beautiful sand and ocean. Don't forget to pay. A lot of people don't. I'm pretty sure the parking lot thieves were the same kind of people who don't.

Yelp
Perfect day with minimal people who can't handle this BEAUTIFUL hot day (heat Index over 100°) I liked they didn't charge tax for the parking fee. Thank you Governor DeSantis

Yelp
Paradise Lost! On 9/28/22, Ian devastated this beach and all the buildings. They have started restoration and reconstruction, but it may literally take years before DELWIG returns to its splendor. While they are working, the park remains closed. You can park across the bridge, opposite Conner Park, and walk to the Bluebill entrance to Vanderbilt Beach North, but that is a poor, temporary substitute for DELWIG.
google avatar

Jenna A.

Yelp
The beach is GORGEOUS! Really convenient parking and great service. I loved the views and how beautiful it was. Best beach in Naples. Only downside is you have to leave the premises when it's sundown.
google avatar

Cassandra C.

Yelp
We've been to a few beaches around and if you are looking for shells this is your place. $6 for a carload of 8 or less (I think) get there before 9am or expect to park outside of the park and walk. Be careful of the pelicans, they dive into the water trying to eat. If you are looking for shells make sure you check out what you're grabbing. You don't want to take anything alive home with you. We did find some hermit crabs, starfish and sand dollars. Put them back in the water and keep moving.

Yelp
Great state park with lots of amenities from showers, picnic areas with grills and a boat ramp. We used the boat ramp to put in our kayak and it was pretty easy. Actually used the boat ramp instead of the designated kayak launch as it looked tight. Beaches were nice and there are so many that you can be relatively secluded it you look hard enough. When we arrived they were turning people away saying it was closed but as we did the loop around they opened it all up and we drove it. Got to the booth and had to wait a bit to finally get in but it was not bad. Overall a solid park for beach days and water adventures.

Kevin S.

Yelp
This place is heavenly! Arrive early between 730 and eight, but certainly by 830 for on-site parking! (Only two parking lots during restoration so far after hurricane Ian) Second option is to park at nearby Connor Park and walk or shuttle over! Uninterrupted mile of natural flora and fauna of real Florida's Gulf Coast!

Yelp
I really loved visiting this park. I saw a lot of people get dropped off at bluebill beach and then walk over to the sand towards the park as well. The state park is actually really nice and you do need a pass to get through. They have these nature trails right in front of the parking spots. We passed parking spot one and teo. Each spot had a bathhouse and a wooden boardwalk path. Between each bath house they also had seating areas for picnics. Each spot had 1-3 bench tables and a grill if you need to cook food. They were all secluded with trees surriounding. We actually sat down to eat a snack and it was very relaxing and peaceful. It felt really nice because there was a small breeze and you could see the sun shining through the trees. All of the areas were really clean. We also saw an employee fixing up one of the paths. We told him we saw a massive behive at the end of the boardwalk where there is a bigger picnic located. He was very happy that we alerted him of the situation. My husband is deathly allergic so we decided to turn around and avoid that area. The employee said he would inform them of it right away. The boardwalk paths were clean and safe. The beach is very peaceful as wel and you can spot some dolphins close to the shore. Betweeen bluebill and this park we saw about 10 dolphins in more shallow areas. It was super exciting. We would definitely visit this place again!

Yelp
Conner Park parking lot. Posting this review because I couldn't find parking info, post hurricane Ian. I parked here on a recent Sunday and then headed off for a walk towards the beach. Wiggins beach is still closed but you can get on to the beach by Moraya Bay condos. Parking in this lot is a bit of a hike but I noted a trolley parked in the lot taking people down to the beach. Pay machines are still broken so we didn't pay but not sure that parking is really free. May need a Naples beach parking pass. We were gone by 10 am so no worries, no ticket. Nice parking lot.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful here. I park at #5 which suits me because there tends to be less people due to it being so close to the "No Swimming" area. The staff at the park all are pleasant here, and I've never had an issue with any of them.
google avatar

Paul K.

Yelp
This is the closest beach to my house. It's also the most crowded due to the location. If you don't have a pass DW costs $8 to park. We received a sunset special of only $4 because we came close to closing time. DW is a typical beach in South Florida. Beautiful sand, peaceful, and and somewhat crowded during season. Just take a look at my picture to see why I was there.

Yelp
My kids, husband and I came to watch sunset tonight. As we were walking into the parking lot to leave from exiting the beach, a truck started racing through the parking lot and stopped next to us . He yelled out " we closed at 5:30pm" . We were taken back and didn't even respond to him. He didn't even say hello or excuse me in the future so you know we close at this time . He startled my kids because he drive up fast, and stopped near us quickly and yelled out to us. Then as we are getting in our car with our kids he turned around and was driving fast through the parking lot and loitering in his truck behind us while we were putting our daughter in her car seat because he was upset we were still parked there . A few months ago, this same man rushed us off the beach. Again we were watching sunset and he came up On his 4 wheeler and told us we had to leave . The sun was barley about to set. Everyone who was there for the same reason were also very confused because the sun hadn't even gone down yet. We stopped coming here because of that reason, we decided to come back because we like this beach. Yet again another incident happens with this same employee. He is so rude and aggressive, for no reason! It's very odd , and unnecessary!

Yelp
With much regret, after so many years of enjoying this park, I've got to rate it at only 3 stars. Many years ago, this was the beach we'd always frequent. My children spent every Spring Break and many weeks each summer (along with a few Christmas excursions) at this park. We loved it. All of us. But then some things started to change. The bathhouses were filled with wasp nests. Spiders everywhere. Showers didn't work. Many of the amenities that we had grown used to were no longer functional or available. When you have children with you, beach amenities (like a rest room) are an absolute must. Sadly, we ALL grew very weary of our experiences here. And it got very, very crowded with people who aren't always the most courteous. We decided recently to check out this park after not visiting it for many years. We had such high hopes that things had changed here. Sadly, they hadn't. Yes, it's a state park and many people flock here. You do see some great shells and dolphin sightings are the norm. But this place gets so packed (especially during season) to the point that you are tripping over people. And if you're not here by 10 AM, the parking lot is closed or you have to park at the Conner Beach parking area and walk (about 1 mile). No thanks. There are other beaches in the general vicinity that are so much nicer. I'll pay a few more dollars to park in order to listen to the sounds of the birds and the waves vs. blaring music from other beach-goers. So disappointing.
google avatar

Tiffany G.

Yelp
This is a very nice park and beach. There is also a boat launch that never seems to be busy. The staff are wonderful and helpful.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Cheapest parking you can find if you don't get a free spot at the other beaches. $6 per car. Not crowded at all. Raccoons gave us a hard time getting in our vehicle but it's their home so we just waited til they moved on.

Yelp
So nice to have the beach back . Water is always clear and sand is always white . Great place to spend a Saturday morning

Yelp
Delnor wiggins Pass state recreation area is a Florida State park located on a barrier island on Florida's southwest coast near Naples, Florida, six miles west of Exit 11 on 1-75.The Cocohatchee River and Gulf of Mexico are accesible from the park , which contains a hard bottom reef. Its a beautiful park with great parking ,clean restrooms and showers , very relaxing. So take a drive and check out this beautiful beach.
google avatar

Yelp
South West Florida is known for its gorgeous beaches and sunsets. The Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park is one of the nicest beaches in the area. It was about $6 to get in and the friendly lady at the front gate lets you know that the park closes at 8:20pm, not 6pm which is shown on both the yelp page and online. The park closes when the sun goes down. I had been planning a photoshoot with a friend for a while. We needed to find a place where we could get good shots by the beach. She is originally from fort Myers and wanted to come down to Naples to shoot and she told me to come here. It was gorgeous. The atmosphere and seeing the perfect sunset was one of my favorite parts. One of the best things that I noticed when I was stepping foot on this beach is that it everyone stays away from one another. It is not like other beaches where people are on top of one another. This is good for the people who are nervous about coming out during the global pandemic. It was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Becca L.

Yelp
This park is great! They have the beach on one side where you can lounge and get snacks. The other side has a boat ramp and kayak area. We were able to see manatees and other wildlife.
google avatar

Branton J.

Yelp
Beautiful beaches with picnic areas, bbq grills, and other facilities. Each parking area takes you very close to the beach so it is not a long walk in. Definitely makes it easy to get your stuff out to the beach. Making multiple trips back and forth is not a big deal at all because it is so close. We cooked on a bbq grill and had lunch with the family on picnic tables. We visited during the week of thanksgiving and we had no problem finding a spot. The beach was crowded but not overly crowded. Again, we were able to find a nice spot to set up without a problem. We also "adopted" a turtle. For a 20.00 donation they give your a turtle stuffed animal and the funds donated are used towards the turtles.
google avatar

Gaston S.

Yelp
Great place for a day outside. BBQ & tree shadows are available. Really nice beach without a lot of waves i'd definitely be back soon.
google avatar

Janis W.

Yelp
During previous vacations to this part of Florida, we had visited exclusively Barefoot Beach. This time, we were staying in Naples Park, so we decided to give Delnor Wiggins a try. The fees to enter here are cheaper than Barefoot Beach, six dollars per car or four dollars if you are a single occupant of a car. Barefoot Beach is eight dollars. There are many parking areas to pick from, there are only facilities at the first one I believe. We went to the very last parking lot each time, and enjoyed the small amount of crowds there. The beach is very nice, and the water was beautiful! It is a short walk to the very end of the park area where it curves around into the channel between it and Barefoot Beach. There are a lot of cool, old trees that have fallen into the water in that area which make a great backdrop for family photos if you are interested in that type of thing. We came to this beach several times during our trip, and always enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it.
google avatar

Dulce W.

Yelp
Enjoy swimming and stopping here for a beautiful sunset. Note there are parking entrance fees, but they are minimal.
google avatar

Barbara C.

Yelp
Pretty and peaceful beach park with picnic areas, bathrooms and white sand beaches. Great for shell hunting too. There's no shade on the beach itself, only in the picnic areas. We took our dog, but they're only allowed in the picnic areas, not on the beach or in the water.
google avatar

Israel F.

Yelp
Delnor Wiggins was as close to a quick island retreat as you can get right here at home. Super friendly staff at the entrance (exact cash $6/car) or credit card only. Several parking lots with available spots , already included in park admission. Beach is a short walk from the lot to the water. Once on the beach, everyone was spaced out and it was an amazing peaceful family day. The sunset was the absolute icing on the cake. Breathtaking views to close out the night. Totally worth the 90min drive north...
google avatar

Tamara W.

Yelp
The parking lot was full so we had to park quit a distance over the bridge. We had a handicapped person with us so they did let us drop him off close to the beach. The beach is nice silky sand and the water was clear not much shells or seaweed. Very clean beach. The only issue is there is a section of the beach reserved for hotel quests. Kinda on the middle of everything. The beach isn't huge but it was good size. There are bathrooms at the entrance and a rinse station. It was nice but too many hotels and tourists around.
google avatar

Luis Q.

Yelp
Awesome beach in Naples !!! Beautiful scenery , well kept, and great place to see wildlife .
google avatar

Jackie C.

Yelp
Loved the beach and the environment. $6 to park is a great price. I was disappointed with the water since it was rocky and not typical "clear Florida water" but overall great spot. I recommend it to anyone visiting the area. They also do a $20 donation to adopt a turtle

D B.

Yelp
Beautiful state park beach, still not technically open but bathroom and portion of the beach were open. Wish we went here instead of Vanderbilt which is still under construction. Lovely clear water and sandy bottom, a little choppy in the afternoons.
google avatar

Drew B.

Yelp
Clean, white sand beach that is low key with clear water, plenty of parking, and toilets. Check the weather/tide and beach conditions before you go. This beach could either be paradise or a nightmare. Beach is not deep but I'm not doing cartwheels, maybe a little bocce ball, but definitely not cartwheels. The lack of sand is what makes this beach more low key and it's great if that's what you are looking for in a beach. Went with friends and sadly did not know about the food truck in lot 4. We both have infants and had a great time. It was quite windy but that made for great bodysurfing. Just bring a pop up tent and something heavy or stakes to hold it down and you will be ready for a kind day at this beautiful beach. Facilities could definitely use updating but were clean. But with it being $6 for all day parking at a clean beach I can imagine there is no budget for a fancy bathroom and at least there is a bathroom. Plenty of shade, picnic tables, and grills. Get here early with a packed cooler and stay all day.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Our family loved this park! Beautiful beach, amazing shelling, friendly people, playful dolphins, and clean restrooms.
google avatar

Randi M.

Yelp
The beach was pretty, the water was clean. It was easy to get to the water, lots of parking( we went early). Parking is FREE if you have a handicap placard. We thought there would be amazing shells and there weren't any. My wife was a bit disappointed in that. Still, a bad day at the beach, is better than a good day at work.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Pretty and not as busy as most parts of Vandy. Easy access, family friendly and quiet! Beautiful views and walkways. You May have to park a bit away but week worth the jaunt. a great place to see the Gulf and spend time together. Also areas for grilling, fishing and water sports.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Besides the parking lot being full and having to park and walk in the outside lot, the beach is beautiful here today. Clean, not too full, and the water although it seems warm enough for most is cooolllldddd!!! Found out on our way in that there is a free bus that will take you with your beach pass from the parking lot into the state park beach !
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
I love this hidden beach in Naples. There is a lot of shade for the non-beach goers. The water is a beautiful blue with lots of seashells for collectors. You can also frequently see dolphins. Entry fee is $6 per car and is worth it. Plan on getting here early to beat the crowd and grab a great spot. There is plenty of parking and picnic tables for everyone, so pack a cooler and enjoy the serenity of this beach.
google avatar

Angeles G.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park. It's a beautiful beach. It's quite, perfect to relax. I highly recommend staying there until the sunset... it's breathtaking, and the sand is the softest we ever have touched. You should go with your umbrellas or beach equipment. Please, don't forget to leave the beach clean. It's an entrance fee for 6$, but it's worthy!
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
Florida state parks never disappoint. Wiggins is beautiful park filled with sunshine state activities. This is a state park so there is an entrance fee based on how many occupants you have in your vehicle. We have a yearly family pass so we were able to cruise right in thru. The park has 5 parking lots, however only 1-4 are beach areas for swimming. Parking lot 5 area gets a lot of action from boaters, wind surfers, fishing etc so there are no swimming signs posted. You can still set up on the beach if you are just wanting to relax on the sand. The park has numerous picnic tables and grills set up in each area. They also have outdoor showers and restrooms with changing areas. Near parking 5 is one large pavilion that is available for rental for gatherings. Also near the parking lot 5 is an observation tower and small garden to check out. There is a concession area off of parking lot #4. The park also offers canoe and kayak rentals there. Overall a beautiful beach and definitely one to check out.

J H.

Yelp
My favorite beach around Naples/ Fort Meyers. Since you have to pay to enter, it was not busy like Vanderbilt beach. Lots of spaces and many bathrooms are definitely plus. The great place to watch the sunset!
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
This was our second time visiting this park. We were there early October '13. We went to Beach/Parking area #3. We brought our 9yo child and all of us had a blast!! We came at low tide and found there is a huge sandbar about 10' from shore. We found many shells and various colorful fish around. One guy even caught a crab. The water was super calm and although red tide was an issue for the area, the beach waters were very pristine. I'll go back next time were in Naples for sure!! A couple things to note: They don't have any showers (that we found at least) but we just wiped off and were fine! They also have a nice beach Picnic area with tables and grills. And these are well shaded for a break from the sun if you need it!! Hope this is helpful. I'd go without hesitation! Please thumb up/comment if you liked this review and I would count it a privilege if you chose to follow me as I review places I travel and visit. Thank you for taking the time to read! ~mp

Yelp
Beautiful beach that is well maintained and has easy access to the parking area. Come early as it is a popular spot and parking fills up quickly. We came for a Santa on the beach event and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to coming back and spending a bit more time on the sand.
google avatar

Luis N.

Yelp
This park is cute! It's on the beach or at least has access to it. We came here for a Santa event on the beach with activities for the kids. It was a little bit of a drive and you pay to get in but that wasn't an issue. I'm glad we got here early-ish because more people came but even then I felt parking wasn't ridiculous. The event had a lot of park rangers ready to help and the beach was there looking nice. We didn't spend a lot of time here so it deserves a second visit. I liked the area and the all the people working there and volunteering were great. My wife thinks she would be ok with coming back at least for the same event next year and making more of a day out of it. Maybe bring a picnic lunch and stay on the sand a little longer? A lot of possibilities with this place. So, in December on a somewhat cool morning and warm afternoon, it was great but perhaps the water would be colder than I'm used to. I'm curious as to how it is during the summer!
google avatar

Darian M.

Yelp
We hit the road to see what Naples had to offer and boy we fell in love - QUICK! For $3 or $4, we found this amazingly quiet and clean spot that instantly impressed us. The sand was amazing and the water impressed us for real. Unfortunately, a Storm rolled in and we had to scram but it's a spot we most definitely will be visiting again. Must Have!!!
google avatar

George T.

Yelp
This is my favorite state park to launch they have ramp with two launches east side has a fish cleaning station, and the west side has an L shaped dock. The place is rarely over 4 car wait to get into the water. Seasonal people may get use of the annual pass if you go enough. They do a great job removing the trash so it is rarely overflowing. The pass is constantly changing and deeper yachts need to time it right or low tide may be a risk of running aground. We have got plenty of snook, snapper catfish, sea trout sheep head, mullet, and shark in the area. if you like see the back waters kayak is the way to go with plenty of places to explore most of it no wake zone except a few of the a55holes who rent boats may not give a 5hit. Plenty of fish can be caught in the pass from the shore. I have yet to see how things have changed as soon as a return home. Over this summer the state had passed a law to allow the people who qualified for CCW to carry in state parks. to make it uniform across the state of Fl. local ordinance cannot conflict with state law effective Oct 1, 2012 see link for details. This is a win for lawful carry in the state. http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/09/30/2433260/new-state-law-puts-in-bullet-in.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Yelp
Beautiful beach though quite shallow. Lots of good small shells to be found. A bit busy but people kept their distance.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
Wiggins State Park is a must see if in Naples. If yiu arrive early enough, parking is very open and it is a short walk to the beach. The best part is that there are lots of pine trees that overlook the shore so there is plenty of shade. The shoreline is not rocky or Shelly at all. The sand is perfect for sand castle building. It's only $6 to visit this park and they have picnic tables and barbecues!!

Ryan G.

Yelp
Of course! Beach was beautiful and clean. Saw some wildlife while we were there walking, which is always fun. Check it out!
google avatar

Milagros G.

Yelp
Beautiful beach park. We can fish and enjoy walks alone the shore. It's very clean. We love the picnic areas. There are all nice for a beautiful family day and barbecue.
google avatar

Anthony M.

Yelp
Just beautiful...it is an amazing stretch of beach that is so peaceful. There is a public entrance at one end and an inlet into the bay at the other. There never seems to be a lot of people here but on weekends and holidays it is crowded. There is parking available but I've never driven here. I simply just walk up the beach to get here from our place. There also seems to be some good fishing because some of these guys get here early. As you walk, keep your eyes open for some dolphins. You may see a few. The best time is at sunset...there is nothing like a sunset on the Gulf of Mexico. I find it peaceful for my morning jog but start early because it gets really hot once that sun starts coming up.
