Deloraine Deli, how dare you. My experience today was appalling.
After finishing our food and drinks, my companion and I were approached by a masked wearing waitress. Her initial interaction was very condescending and made comment regarding a small mess on the table. This embarrassed my companion who has a condition and has issues with coordination. I asked her not to make a deal of it but then she made further comment and spoke to her like a child. (We are 50's and 60's). She then proceeded to clear the table getting very close to us. I asked her to step back please as my companion is immuno compromised and that I don't trust people wearing masks as it generally is a sign they are sick. She then informed us that she is recovering from a cold and still has a lingering cough. Wow. She then proceeded to get even closer to us, I'm talking inches here. I repeated my request to please step back. Again to no avail standing her ground. Wow again. My third request was like a plea, leave us alone pleeease. After another comment that she understood and looking at us like little children, she finally went away. Another Wow. I was so shocked by this whole encounter i went and made a complaint to another server and asked for a manager or owner to be informed. The same server then came to our table a few minutes later and informed me that the owner/manager was aware and their policy was to allow staff who were sisk or recovering from illness to work but whilst wearing a mask. Are you serious, in a service industry that is handling food. Double double wow. I commented that I wasn't impressed and I would never return.
A few minutes later another woman who i take was the owner or manager ( no introductions) aggressively approached me and kicked off about their policy once again and if it was good enough during Covid it was good enough now. ( in fact it wasn't good enough during covid, that's why we were locked down and not allowed out anwhere). I said what has this got to do with covid, it's about respecting someone's right to keep their distance from a sick person. She then doubled down and told me not to raise my voice to her staff. I hadn't raised my voice once during this whole saga. Wow yet again, what a way to treat your paying customers. I was and still am stunned.
To the owners, good experiences are passed on to 4 or 5 people. Bad experiences are shared over 10 times. Keep that in mind when dealing with genuine complaints. Your attitude to this was way worse than the initial incident. So again, how dare you. How dare you trivialise people's health and safety, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Your response to this review is a typical case of gaslighting... That is to put the blame on the victim to deflect any onus on you to take responsibility. Deloraine Deli, you will never find resolutions when you are looking for conflict. Pathetic !!
