"Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker." ~ Ogden Nash
Some people see Del's as a trendy, smalltown beverage concession food truck, but in reality, their history goes back a long way.
Franco DeLucia made his first lemonade out of snow back in 1840 in Naples, Italy. They stored the snow in insulated caves until the summer months when they mixed it with fresh, ripe summer lemons and equal parts of sugar. He and his son brought their recipe to America in 1902 and in 1948, they changed the name to Del's Frozen Lemonade, and soon monopolized the beverage market in Cranston, RI. Soon thereafter, they took their product on the road for sale across the state. Today Del's Lemonade is sold worldwide.
Mix it with crushed ice and a little vodka, and all is well with the world.
