Delta Hotels Toronto Review: "A Mixed Bag of Mediocrity
Date of Stay: December 17th, 2024
Purpose: Overnight getaway as Ambassador Elite members
We arrived at 11:45 a.m. for our 11 a.m. early check-in, only to meet Lulu at the front desk--a master of monotone and acrylic-nail tapping. She dismissed us with "Room is not ready" despite our Ambassador Elite status. We killed time in the 46th-floor lounge at 12:15 p.m. with cookies, drinks, and amazing CN Tower views--but scenery doesn't count as lunch.
The Room
Finally got in at 2:40 p.m. We had to insist on a 4 p.m. late checkout (an actual perk). The seventh-floor room was spacious with a great view but had unemptied trash, yellow-tinted lighting, basic showerheads, and aging TVs (hello, YouTube audio-sync issues). A blinking bulb was never replaced, despite Lulu's promise.
Amenities
The 4th-floor hot tub was fine if you could ignore the shrieking kids nearby. SOCO was closed for renovations (news to us), so we settled for lounge hors d'oeuvres--saved by self-serve Maker's Mark. Breakfast was the standard bacon-eggs-fruit buffet.
The Bed
A king bed of average comfort--fine for one night, but you'd regret it after a few sleeps.
Final Thoughts
Stunning views can't hide mediocre service and housekeeping. Ambassador Elite perks felt like lip service, not actual VIP treatment. Would I return? No.
