My first time here. Not a disappointment! Our waitress was fantastic even though she proclaimed to be "the meanest waitress ever"far from it. She was a joy and seemed to love what she does. All of the staff seemed to be happy there. Very refreshing. The food was fabulous! We will be back!

Google
First time ever eating here and loved the experience! We got the Steel City Breakfast of Champs, the Eggs Benedict, and the Apple Cinnamon Crepe (see image). NOTE: They only accept cash!! The food was served fast, the quality was fantastic, and for the amount of food we got, the price was extremely fair. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll love the Crepes, Waffles, and Pancakes they have. But if you don't, they have plenty of traditional breakfast foods as well! So if you've thought about coming here, do it! I highly recommend!

The minute you walk in the staff are greeting you and offer you seating . Then the menu, the breakfast menu is filled with options ; I definitely would suggest any of the pancakes and the French toast paired with you favorite egg selection!! The Steak and Eggs were perfect , everything fresh and made to your liking!! Great atmosphere, great Chef’s and great staff!! 🥰 Plus, the fun history of various artists and actors have placards to view!! Such a great place in the Strip District..

Google
Great diner, definitely a pgh institution! Ona late Sunday morning, Delucas was a lot easier to get into than Pamela’s, though the e wait time to get your food can get pretty crazy. The staff are super friendly, and once it did arrive, the pancakes are as big and yummy as expected! The kielbasa was also a stand out, with the coffee being the classic, good diner kind, always a solid breakfast here!

Google
Had a wonderful breakfast there Friday morning. It wasn’t too crowded, but there was a line of customers waiting to be seated by the time we left. They had a little bit of everything on the menu, something for everyone. The breakfast burrito and the hotcake special were delicious! Would definitely go back.

THIS PLACE WAS MY JAM. When I lived in Pittsburgh, everyone always wanted to go to Pamela's, but when I tell you THIS was the spot? I'm not joking. The vibe & service in this location was like a mix of Waffle House & Chick-Fil-A. The waitresses and waiters were always so very kind and treated you like they were hosting you in their own home. A total vibe. And the FOOD. My goodness. The flavor in the eggs and french toast or pancakes was always top notch - I'm drooling thinking about it right now. I always got cheesy eggs, sometimes bacon & always some sort of sweet treat like french toast or pancakes. AND I WAS NEVER DISAPPOINTED. You have to check it out if you live in or visit Pittsburgh.

Went the morning of Memorial Day. This place was totally busy but well worth the wait. Old school diner vibes with an expansive menu. Service was totally on point, even the busboy made sure our coffees were full. I had the chicken and waffles which was totally awesome. Well seasoned chicken sitting on top of a beautifully done waffle was outstanding. My wife had the steel city breakfast which was totally huge for a portion. It was a little on the pricey side $41.00 for 2 breakfast seemed a little bit high. Overall well worth the wait

Google
A delight that has some pretty good breakfast with coffee. The food is say is pretty good. Can use a little bit of something, not too crazy but overall good. Atmosphere is fantastic. Wait time can be a little something. I would recommend.

Yelp
We heard this was on a list of "places you must try in Pittsburgh"! Think old school diner, cash only, no reservations and a line down the street. The line moved quickly because the restaurant has a lot of tables and seats at the counter. I ordered the chicken and waffles which had a nice crisp on the tenders. The home fries were highly reviewed but we thought they were average.

Yelp
Top tier diner. Line out the door, took about 20 minutes to get in. Food takes some time to get out but it blows your mind glug glug and so so worth it. Easily would wait again for it, perfect after walking around the bustle of the strip on a saturday morning. Got the country fried chicken which was so so filling and a side of french toast. Friends got the pancakes and Huevos rancheros which were phenomenal. Best diner food I've had. Real diner vibes.

Yelp
Excellent service and staff. That's why I did 5 stars. Steak & Eggs was good. Corned beef has was really really salty. Tasted like it was canned product. Based on my experience. Great atmosphere. Reasonable pricing.

Yelp
Deluca's is the best diner in the city! The service is quick, and the food is always delicious. The wait staff are friendly. It has a classic diner feel and greasy breakfast food - what's not to love! It is cash only, so make sure to hit an ATM before!

Yelp
I've been to DeLuca's a few times and have had pretty decent experiences each time. I unfortunately can't say the same this time around. To preface - we did go during the Saturday brunch rush, but that factor was not the reason for the poor experience. I really appreciate the bustling environment of a diner, and it adds to the character of DeLuca's. Two members of our party ended up getting breakfast while I ended up opting for the turkey club sandwich. The 2 breakfast items came out after 30 minutes, while I waited almost 50 minutes(!) to get my turkey sandwich. Our waitress told me that the restaurant ran out of turkey and needed to get more from Penn Mac. Slightly frustrating as I would have opted to get change my order given the choice. When I finally got my sandwich it was truly nothing special. The Cajun fries I got as my side were pretty tasteless and needed ranch to have any flavor. Due to the long wait my sandwich was comped which I really appreciated because I would have been upset paying for such a bland sandwich. The bacon egg and cheese that my partner got was pretty tasty which honestly made me regret my lunch option even more.

Yelp
As of October 2024, this location is still cash only so be sure to come prepared! The service isn't overtly friendly but it is fast. We were in and out pretty quickly. For 2 plates of food, we paid $35 so the price is fair. We got the chicken fried chicken breakfast platter, which strangely had shredded cheese on it but it was a good plate; very filling. The pancakes were good too. Overall an average breakfast experience.

Yelp
Hailing from NJ, I am a diner enthusiast. Diners are my absolute favorite type of restaurant. My happy place. I've been very excited about trying DeLuca's since it had that old-school nostalgic ambiance & always a long queue whenever I would pass it. I finally was able to walk past DeLuca's and see there was no line. My friend & I sat at the counter. We felt totally rushed and it was not service with a smile, which is surprising for Pittsburgh. On the counter, there was a bug with a hard exoskeleton crawling. I killed it, and thought nothing of it since it's been a super hot summer in PGH in July 2024 & maybe it was a one off. But after post processing, I found that repulsive. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting- the toilets were both uncleaned & one was not flushing so it smelled like an outhouse. The poop and toilet paper resembled a snow capped mountaintop of poo. The food took an eternity to get to us. We ordered an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, scrambled eggs with cheese, & a chocolate chip pancake. The portions were large. The pancake was delicious. The scrambled eggs were awfully dry, and there was such minimal cheese. I didn't even have half of the plate. I didn't want to wait any longer nor interact with the unfriendly staff so I decide to just nibble. How do you mess up scramble eggs? Anyways, I would not recommend.

Yelp
While visiting Pittsburgh, I asked one of my Uber drivers for the best breakfast in town. He told me DeLuca's. I followed is advice. And I'm glad I did. I was lucky enough to make it by and had a great breakfast. The restaurant is load with personality and character. The prices were reasonable and the food was great. It is cash only, so be prepared. I highly recommend putting this on your list of places to visit in Pittsburgh. I'll visit again when I make it back that way.

Yelp
This place was suggested to us for a good breakfast spot in Pittsburgh and honestly it was over hyped. The place is a bit on the small side and it was about a 10 minute wait. The line for this place forms outside which the line got pretty long throughout the morning. It's a diner so it was pretty loud in there. I got the French toast combo which came with eggs and just water. It took like 35 minutes to get our food for something that was pretty basic. You pay at the counter when you leave type place. Also it's cash only. I didn't leave full like I wanted but waiting so long for the food I just wolfed it down and left. When I come back to visit Pittsburgh this place won't be on my re-visit list.

Yelp
We came here on Easter Sunday for breakfast. There was plenty of street parking. We were seated right away. The booths are a little small I had a party of 4. I ordered French toast. The service is very fast and efficient here. The food was good and portions are good. My son and husband really liked their food as well. The price was reasonable for 4 people. We overall had a good experience.

Yelp
Best breakfast and diner food ive had. It was gas Service was amazing Nice diner vibe and decor.

Yelp
Everyone seems to recommend Deluca's for breakfast when visiting Pittsburgh. Parking: We pulled up pretty early this morning so street parking right out front was available. Venue: The restaurant actually has quite a bit of seating. The booths are a bit tight but not too bad. Typical diner and make sure you know in advance it is cash only. Food: My wife and I had breakfast burritos and they were both excellent. My son had cheesy eggs, bacon and pancakes. He was a big fan of the pancakes. I also had a black coffee. Not the best coffee but it was alright. Service: The service was excellent. The waitress was attentive and the food came out quickly. Although I think the place is a bit overhyped, the food is good and it's a better than average diner. I would have gone with a 3.5 but since I can't do half stars I'll go up to 4.

Yelp
So in my 55 years on this earth, and countless eateries that I've visited, I promise you that this was one of the top 5 best breakfasts I've ever had! Angie was our "super server", and she definitely knows how to make customers feel like family. Her suggestions were right on point. Everything from the home fries to the bacon, and the raisin-bread French toast-with the glaze (prepared by Angie) was phenomenal! Definitely a must visit if you're in Pittsburgh!!!

Rachel G.

Yelp
The best breakfast in Pittsburgh! The kielbasa is outstanding. My husband and I have been eating here for many years and have never had a bad meal. We ate there with family this morning and our family member was truly amazed. The hot sausage and banana pepper omelet was fabulous! Of courses, shout out to Mancini's bakery as the toast is always perfect. There's not much new to say about a classic like DeLucas! The staff work well together and are super attentive and friendly to every customer. Just eat there!
google avatar

Yelp
Third visit to my favorite with my friend: We shared seafood benedict, ham and cheese omelette, chocolate pancake with strawberry ice cream and strawberry French toast together. We love the egg benedict so much that we both agree we could enjoy it every day. But it's a little pity that the super bowl omelette is no longer available.

Yelp
Our waitress was so friendly and we were so excited to get the local experience. Did you guys know that they put french fries on salads in Pittsburgh?

Yelp
Decided to eat at DeLuca's while shopping at the Strip District. The service was and good was great. I loved the diner feel that the restaurant gave off. I recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was delicious. I love how fast our service was. It was a very cozy place and so crowded but I had a great time.

Yelp
AMAZING breakfast for a hungry crew! Felt a little like I needed a rule book when we first walked in, but the servers were incredibly kind and accommodating once we got our table. The place was packed, but it ran so efficiently that our wait was just a few minutes. Decor brought me back to childhood years and my college boy loved the ambiance! We all left happy, full, and my son had plenty of leftovers to enjoy later in the day!
google avatar

Yelp
We came here for breakfast Sunday before a football game and the line was long but we eventually got in. The place is not too big and is cash only. I decided to order the basics. The eggs and cheesy potoatoes were just ok. The hot ssausage and sour dough were great though. I also tried the pumpkin pancake and that was fantastic. All the other dishes were huge and people could not finish. Definitely come here hungry those breakfast diner vibes.
google avatar

Maura D.

Yelp
I loved it! The hype and popularity of Deluca's is because it has that old diner charm. The food is good. I thought it needed salt, but otherwise really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and efficient. We lucked out on a Monday around 9am- very little crowd, but definitely got busy as we left.
google avatar

Jeffery B.

Yelp
Great ambience! We loved the classic diner experience. We had breakfast and it was great. It was a pre-Steelers game day and it was a great start. The staff was spot on and our order was perfect. If we ever make it back to Pittsburgh, we'll go again.

Yelp
Second time being at DeLuca's with the first time being over 5 years ago and everything is still the same. We came on Christmas Eve and luckily it was open. It is CASH ONLY. There is no waitlist and there's usually a line outside the door. There's a breakfast and lunch menu with lots of options. I got the steal city breakfast while my partner got the DeLuca's mixed grill. Food comes out pretty fast, large portions and pretty good overall. Nothing fancy, but good food and company.
google avatar

Dieter H.

Yelp
The place is exactly what it has been for years! A diner of the old fashioned style, just prices are of today! The service staff was super pleasant and courteous!
google avatar

Lindsay B.

Yelp
This was my favorite breakfast of the whole weekend! Just imagine a greasy spoon diner but BETTER. DeLuca's has been featured in movies and Man vs. Food at one of the front booths which was pretty cool. I was honestly overwhelmed with the menu options and I was hungry so everything looked good and making a choice was so hard, as you can imagine. The waitress recommended the bacon eggs benedict and WHOA! I took one bite and immediately knew why she said that was her favorite thing on the menu. The benedict is served on thick sliced Italian bread that stands up well to the hollandaise sauce and runny egg yolk. I can honestly tell you that was the best hollandaise sauce I have ever tasted. It was thick like a gravy and so so flavorful. The place is small and it looked like they scaled the dining room down based on staffing issues so we waited around 30-45 minutes for a table on a Monday morning. Let me tell you, WORTH THE WAIT. I can't stop thinking about it.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Sadly, I have to demote DeLuca's. We waited SO LONG to eat on a Sunday morning. Probably half an hour outside in the rain, then at least 45 minutes inside. This time, biscuits and gravy was an utter disappointment. Stodgy and gluey, with barely and sausage and no discernible flavor of any kind. Boo! Everything else was fine, but not worth the wait.
google avatar

Gerald H.

Yelp
Stopped here on a Saturday morning thanks to the hotel only having powder eggs. When Hampton Inn doesn't have omelettes we riot. That's a rule. Walked up to DeLucas in the strip district - not a bad walk though it was a little on the cold side that morning. There was no wait time to be seated and we took a booth in the center of the room. They have booths, tables, and the counter - which is a good mark of whether a place has great food. I ordered the Steel City breakfast which came with eggs, pancakes, home fries, both meats and toast. I really liked everything - though it is hard to mess up breakfast. The pancakes are huge and the syrup was very good. Overall a good meal. Quick to come out and the coffee was brewed fresh.
google avatar

Raquel Lynn H.

Yelp
I love delucas for how fresh it comes out and I he portions! I tried something new and this was phenomenal. Be prepared to not eat the rest of the day! Service is attentive and quick which always helps.

Melissa S.

Yelp
Walk don't run to this place. Fourth year in a row for our annual trip to Pitt. Angie is the best server and the food is fantastic. I will have dreams about my frittata I had today! Don't tell my husband but, we may have to go again tomorrow before we leave! Cash only but wellllll worth it!!
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
Portions were pretty unbelievable but you pay for what you get. The Moab was exceptional and the highlight of the visit. Biscuits in the biscuits and gravy could have been fluffier, but the gravy was flavorful and tasty. Ordered cheese eggs that were well prepared. Ham was average Service was fine and the atmosphere is better in the front of the restaurant compared to the back which is a little more crammed. Neat looking building and classic diner feel in the front. In summary you can get a similar quality breakfast for a better price elsewhere. But would still recommend

Yelp
Service: 3.5 Food: 4 Ambiance: 4 Cleanliness: 3.5 Recommended by a local (over Kelly Os and Pamela's) so it must be good. This place is a no frills diner that serves good food, quickly. We went for a late Sunday breakfast. There was a line outside, but it moved quickly. The staff were nonstop inside.. it was entertaining to watch! They had a classic boombox playing 90s HipHop & R&B, with the cooks shouting orders, servers rushing plates to tables, and bus boys clearing off tables for it's next guest. The food... It's what you expect from a good diner. Flat top seasoned over many years makes anything taste good! And the portions are HUGE! - Steel City Breakfast: classic eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage and toast. Also comes with pancakes the size of your head! I upgraded to the Cinnamon Bun Pancakes. It was sweet but not overly sweet. Enough to not need any syrup. - The MOAB Burrito: not sure what was all in it (besides the chorizo) but the kid enjoyed it! - Breakfast Burrito: huge burrito with eggs, potatoes, your choice of meat and cheese. It's a kind of burrito you need to with a fork and knife. - Chicken & Waffles: the chicken breast was super tasty! Crispy AND light. It was magic. The waffle however could be crispier... Maybe another minute or so in the waffle makers. All in all, a solid breakfast joint that will keep you full till dinner!

Kristi B.

Yelp
My husband has been talking about this place for years and we finally made it here! This place is your classic, Pittsburgh, diner with hearty food and atmosphere. It's small-we waited online about 30min before we were seated. We did learn that you have to make sure you step inside whenever it's your turn, otherwise, you'll likely be in line for longer as the wait staff doesn't always come out to bring people in since they are so busy. The food is exactly what you would expect from a Pittsburgh diner. Heart and overflowing plates! There were four of us all together. One person got the steak and eggs, two got the steak and eggs with hot cakes, and I chose the Denver omelet. The steak is a t-bone and super thin. My husband said it didn't have much flavor to it. The hot cakes were good as well, but overall felt that Pamela's offers better hotcakes. The omelet was very large and tasty. Or table agreed that DeLuas does have better eggs then Pamela's diner. Overall, neat location with great nod to Pittsburgh history. Masks are not required, social distancing is not enforced. Parking can be hard as they are only open until 3pm when most people are in the area. Be prepared to wait in line to get in most days but especially on the weekends.

Yelp
Wow just wow! While visiting from Detroit I was having a hard time finding a good dive comfort meal. I wanted brunch but not that overpriced trendy stuff. Had no idea diners are a big thing in Pitt. I am so happy I found DeLuca's Diner. This breakfast hash with crispy bacon and cinnamon roll pancake did me good. I want more!
google avatar

Dale M.

Yelp
They were super busy so we sat at the counter. Watching the staff maneuver through each other while the oldies music playing was nostalgic. Then came the food delivered by the nicest people we've met and it was great!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun and bustling diner in the middle of the Strip District in Pittsburgh! Stopped in on the way back to the airport to fly back home and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food selection was huge and there was definitely something for everyone on the menu. I had the Steel City Combo which had eggs, bacon, Italian toast, and a waffle. My eggs were a little less done than I like but I think that's my fault because I ordered them over light on accident. Bacon was thick and crispy deliciousness and the toast was fresh! The waffle was a thick Belgian style waffle which wasn't really my style but it was tasty nonetheless and there was real butter on the table to dress it up so it was fine. There was also never a time when my coffee cup wasn't full despite them having what seemed like 1 or 2 servers to run the whole place. We had every single thing we needed so they clearly made it work well. Worth a visit if in the area!
google avatar

Ha B.

Yelp
People said it's the best breakfast spot in town and I might have to agree. Big servings of deliciousness. Loved the fact that even we ate so much, we didn't leave with a heavy and greasy feeling. I got the Philly cheesesteaks omelet and it was better than I expected.
google avatar

Nataya N.

Yelp
Delicious food good portion size. Service attentive friendly and timely. All condiments provided on table. Old fashioned diner experience. Only cons: VERY LOUD CASH ONLY
google avatar

Lee B.

Yelp
The food is great and plentiful. The service was great. There was a bit of a wait (Steelers game day), and you DON'T want to prop the door open (eek!), but the servers were really nice once we were seated. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Pittsburgh.
google avatar

Aaron W.

Yelp
Solid diner food with quick, no frills service and a location in Strip District central. Huge menu! This place gets a lot of notoriety for its location and Pittsburgh vibe (our server referred to us as 'yinz'). The place also has an old diner feel. They've adapted well to Covid though, now offering some outdoor seating on the sidewalk. We particularly enjoyed sitting outdoors on a week day when the Strip was less crowded. The food is good, filling, and cheap, as you might expect. I got the Steel City Breakfast of Champs, which was a carb heavy combo of toast, two pancakes, hash browns, two eggs, bacon, and sausage. All good, and the pancakes were particularly fluffy. A bit light on the meat. My wife got the California Benedict, which she enjoyed and which left her stuffed even with many hash browns left over. Only minor complaint is that there was hardly any avocado.

Eric L.

Yelp
It is a Sunday @ 11:30am. Walked in to ask how long is the wait. The server said, "I don't know why don't you ask THEM how long it's going to take THEM to eat!!( pointing at the patrons). I told her that was rude and said, "That is why I am walking!"
google avatar

Natalie T.

Yelp
Visited two times in the last 3 months. My bf said this is the best breakfast he's ever had. Seafood crepe is absolutely incredible! I've tried other crepes and pancakes and nothing compares to the seafood crepe but everything is good, definitely worth a try.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
The food is amazing. The breakfast is definitely the best in town. And yes I know that the world is having issues with keeping people in the payroll. But we were there for a family trip to watch Steelers play the Titans and we got there before 9am. We stood in line until 940am. The lady said "I would seat you but people get upset when they are seated and then they don't have their order taken or get their food". So we waited until 1025 to place the order and it was after 1045 before we got our food. Their process is very inconsistent. We watched people come in, sit, order, eat, and leave before we got to even order. It seemed to be based on which waitress you had. I get it, again I'll say it.... I know getting good people to show up to work is tough. But you also have to figure out how you're going to manage with the customers you DO let in. And make sure your waiters and waitresses are working together to give everyone the right priority. The food was amazing. The pancakes are huge. All of the food was hot and delicious. Just fix the seating and priority of people getting orders and food.
google avatar

Paige C.

Yelp
I went here one afternoon after seeing some awesome reviews and craving chicken and waffles. It was a full house when we walked in but we got seated fairly quickly. The waitress took our order and I got chicken and waffles but they were out of waffles so they made it with pancakes which was fine with me. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. The only thing that would make this better is if they served mimosas . I'd love to come back here again for breakfast. The service was quick and friendly and had great food.

Yelp
I can see how this is a neighborhood favorite. I went on a Saturday about an hour before closing so it wasn't too crowded and I didn't have to wait for a table. The strip was crowded so I had to fight my way through the sidewalk rush to get in but once inside, it's a super traditional little mom and pop spot with an open kitchen. I noticed how the food was prepared and taken immediately to the tables so I knew I'd be getting some good hot food. The menu has plenty of options but I wouldn't come here for a salad. It's a good "home cooked" meal so you might as well go all in. Service was quick and familiar. Everyone seemed to have worked there their entire lives. Some "regulars" came in and it almost felt like you really were in someone's mom's kitchen. I got the chicken and waffle. The waffle wasn't super crispy on the outside but it was hot and fluffy! The chicken was deliciouuuuuuuuus. It was fried PERFECTLY and seasoned just enough. My scrambled cheese eggs were whew so darn good. I don't even know what kind of egg and cheese those used but it was GOOD!!! I'll definitely be back even if I just need some comfort food this dreary winter but I think I'll go on a week day for a slightly different vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
In town visiting friends. We popped in here beside a walk around the strip district. Didn't wait long for a table, which I guess is rare. Must have been a combination of the coronavirus and the weather. We enjoyed ourselves. Everyone loved their food. The service was good. Several waitresses checked on us constantly. The good was great. The portions were big. I got the corned beef hash. It was delicious. My husband for the MOAB burrito. He loved it. It was huge. Fresh squeezed orange juice was a nice option too. Good prices. Great selection of food.
google avatar

Yelp
My hubby loves diners and so we had to go to one while here visiting. It has a real homelike feel to it. You come in feeling like you could be a regular. My hubby got the Steel City Breakfast of Champs Combo and I got the Seafood Omelet, and it was amazing! Prices were reasonable and the service was great. We would definitely love to come back and would highly recommend. It looks like we got there early enough where there wasn't a line but you will probably have to wait otherwise.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was excellent and food portions were enormous. You prob could split most of their breakfast dishes between two people. Had a fried chicken cutlet sandwich on their hand sliced italian bread and have to say the chicken was cooked well and was juicy. Looking forward to the next time I'm in the burgh to go back for some more killer breakfast

Yelp
Everytime I come back to Pittsburgh I will make sure DeLuca's is one of my stops. This place came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Thankfully we got there right after they opened so we didn't have to wait in line outside but we did have about a 10 minute wait inside. They bring out the food pretty fast so people are pretty much in and out unless they are lallygagging. This your typical diner that serves breakfast and lunch. No fancy garnishing, just classic meals. Menu is full of options and the portions are huge. We got a ham & sausage omelette and the Steele City Breakfast of Champs. Each breakfast comes with your choice of toast. The Steele City is probably the most bang for your buck as you get two eggs, sausage AND bacon, home fries and 2 HUGE pancakes..oh and toast. Hot and yummy. I only could eat half of it. Fair warning if you order apple juice its coming in a short cup and there are no refills. Also its CASH ONLY!
