Lisa, Walter and the entire team are consummate professionals. Old world style and grace, this is a classy, charming, and most of all DELICIOUS bakery serving only the best and freshest Italian snacks, cookies, pies (blueberry is TO DIE FOR) and spinach with cheese and pepperoni brings me back. I have never tasted a better or a fresher 🍩 donut. The chocolate frosting is handmade daily. We only wish we lived closer. Thank you 🙏🎉😄 and see you soon ❤️💜💛

Lisa on the counter was amazing! She treated us like old friends, even though we just met. She walked us through the complexities of ordering a birthday cake for 40 people with ease. Highly recommend this bakery which has been around since 1938.

SerpAPI
An old time Real Italian bakery, with everything made on the premises from fresh cream pastries to Italian bread and rolls not to mention several fresh and daily made calzones. The only pastries you will ever buy there from a refrigerated case will be cream products! All there other pastries don't need refrigeration because they are made fresh daily. A side not when you purchase pastries from most shops there always cold that is because they are not made daily and the refrigeration allows them to sell them 2 or 3 days old...not there.

SerpAPI
Excellent selection of breads, pies, pastries, pizza, zeppolas and more..each made fresh daily. Everything is delicious and always served with a smile. Definitely worth a trip.

Amazing donuts! Walk to there and then up to My Pleasant High with my toddler son for breakfast and some outdoor time.

I made a VERY quick stop here since the bakery closest to me didn't have any creme-filled pastries. It's a Mom-n-Pop-style bakery instead of a "upper-crust" one; reminds me of the bakeries I used to go to as a kid. Unfortunately, I got there about 20 minutes before they closed, so a majority of their pastries weren't in the display cases; maybe they were already put away in the back? Fortunately, they did have an EXCELLENT canoli (with chocolate jimmies instead of chocolate chips), and the lobster tail was good, filled with mascarpone cheese. Overall, I think I'll come back here, especially since their donuts look amazing!

Not enough stars!!!! The absolute, hands down, best Bakery in the state!! Not only are the pastry made daily, are delish(!!!!!) , then you get to the register and can't believe your eyes/ears!! I can afford to go there over and over!! Now, the gym will be another story!! Lol

Yelp
Great old school neighborhood bakery. A variety of offerings; but DON'T miss out on the FANTASTIC donuts they offer...easily some of THE BEST traditional donuts around (and extremely reasonably priced! The young woman that helped me with a couple of questions had a great & infectious smile (what kind of jelly in the jelly donut, what's coming out of the oven soon that smells incredible?) Gonna do a savory trip soon to try some of the breads & rolls.

Yelp
Deluise is a cute little bakery my friends and I stopped by just before leaving Providence. Apparently, they've been open for the past 70 years, which is quite impressive, so I had to see what all the fuss was about. The staff was very friendly and helped us pick out a box of assorted pastries which we shared back at our Air Bnb which was quite delicious! I also purchased a savory chicken parmesan pastry to eat for lunch before hopping on my flight back home, and baybaay it was everything; probably my favorite thing I ate from there. All in all, I can see why the DeLuise Bakery has been around for the past 70 years.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try the donuts out at Deluise Bakery for awhile now. I finally made the trip over. Parking was easy right out front. When I walked in I was surprised at how many donut options they had! They had the chocolate frosted ones they are known for, but also different jelly filled donuts, quite the variety. I also noticed they had many other Italian bakery staples like pizza strips and sfogliatelle. The donut itself was light and fluffy and the frosting on top was tasty. The jelly in the jelly donuts seemed to be homemade and was quite tasty as well. The girl manning the counter was friendly and the prices were super reasonable. I will be back again soon!

Yelp
The bakery was wonderful. The food, the service, and ambiance were all fun. My favorite was the cannolis.

Jean M.

Yelp
excellent baked goods and great service! Better than the bakery in cranston! Friendly and helpful!

Linda S.

Yelp
One of the best Italian loaves I've gotten anywhere. Good service by experienced employees.

Yelp
This review is based on my visit in February for the #BestDonutsRI competition. We arrived after 8am on a Saturday. Parking is on the street, and we were lucky to find one in front of the bakery. There was a good amount of bakery goods and donuts. The donut trays were not all full, but I'm not sure if people arrived when they opened at 7am. While we decided which donut to get with our coupons, one of the staff asked if we would like a fresh donut twists they were currently making in the back, on the house. We accepted the gesture, and the twists were definitely fresh, warm, and soft. We chose a Sugar Raised Donut and a Chocolate Frosted Raised Donut. I tried the Sugar Raised and noticed the dough was not sweet and it didn't have any taste to it. It was denser than the freshly made twists. For the Chocolate Frosted, the base was the same, and the chocolate frosting was the best part, super rich and creamy. Overall, the donuts are not what we like.

Yelp
This review is for the donutss only I came here for my father's birthday and we got the raspberry jelly and the lemon cream all of them were excellent. Some of the best donuts I've had. The counter person was super nice and patient with us. They have parking on the street which is free Price is very reasonable at some point I would like to try some of their cakes.

Laura D.

Yelp
2.5/5 No line at 11:00AM on a Saturday. Pros: -Lots of delicious-looking pastries -Great service -Inexpensive Cons -Street parking -Cake donuts a bit dry -- $2.20 for 2 donuts Chocolate Frosted Cake Donut Plain cake donut with chocolate frosting. The cake donut is a bit dry, but the chocolate frosting is delicious. It's much thicker (like buttercream) than other chocolate donut frostings. However, it's not overly sweet. Plain Glazed Donut Glazed yeast donut. Very solid light and fluffy texture but I didn't love the taste of the dough/glaze. Other donut options: chocolate sprinkle, sugar-coated.

Lizette P.

Yelp
Excellent and friendly service. We stopped to try their donuts which were delicious! I wish they had coffee or drinks to accompany their amazing treats.

Yelp
A staple of Providence's Italian community since 1938 it was early Friday morning that a stop was made at DeLuise Bakery, the original location in Cranston now with a satellite in Mount Pleasant that still doing things the same way they always have to the delight of locals from Tuesday through Sunday. Situated at 1251 Chalkstone Avenue adjacent a string of small businesses, each with their own designated parking though none were open at 7:00am, it was with a light rain falling that DeLuise was found empty, the smell of Yeast hanging in air and service exceedingly pleasant from a woman who not only seemed interested in making a sale but also teaching a history lesson. Different from other local Bakeries in terms of their offerings, scratch-made Doughnuts filling one whole case with others featuring a collection of Pies, Cakes and Ethnic Pastries, it was after being gifted a fluffy ring topped in Chocolate Frosting that eight additional items were purchased, the simple Glazed Doughnut clearly not from a mix given its base that eats something like Angel Food but with more thickness. Moving next to a pair of heartier Doughnuts, both the Old Fashioned and Twist offering a touch of tanginess by way of Sour Cream, fans of filled Doughnuts should not miss out on Bismarks heavily coated in Powdered Sugar and stuffed with housemade Raspberry Preserves, the cost about 1/4 that of Orwasher's in New York and the overall quality of both Dough and Fruit better. Not about to pass on some of the Italian offerings, but stopping along the way for a particularly tart Lemon Bar and oblong Danish with light lamination topped by a thin layer of Cream Cheese, suffice it to say that DeLuise's Zeppole does not suffer the sogginess of so many others despite being packed with Custard while their Sfogliatelle does not separate quite as cleanly as that of The Original Italian Bakery in Johnston, though it is still very good.

Victor M.

Yelp
Quality pastries at affordable and good prices, super friendly staff, zero complaints.

Jill M.

Yelp
Old school and I just learned of it! The lobster tail was amazing, so many authentic fresh goodies. Staff was super helpful and friendly

Jenny M.

Yelp
This donut was worth EVERY bite. I don't even like donuts but decided to try Deluise. Talk about melt in your mouth goodness. What a delightful treat.

Arnold H.

Yelp
+1 star for the incredible service Honestly just an average bakery. Wouldn't return for any of the treats I tried (lemon square, hazelnut cookie, chocolate donut)

Scott R.

Yelp
In town for a baseball tournament and drove by the bakery on the way to a nearby field. Did a quick Yelp check and saw the great reviews so decided to stop by. Hands down one of, if not the, best danish I have ever had. Told other parents who quickly descended on the bakery. Everything we tried was simply awesome. Definitely off the beaten path but man I wished I lived closer as it would be a weekend regular spot.

Liz P.

Yelp
Came here to grab a donut on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The chocolate frosting was calling my name so I got a donut ($1.25) and a sfogliatella ($2.75). The donut reminded me of a Dunkin' Donut's plain stick. But the chocolate frosting was what was SO AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!! I've been wanting this kind of perfect frosting for ages and I finally found it! Oh man, it was soooo good. Just the right amount of sugariness and chocolate flavor. THE BEST! I can't imagine how their cakes would taste covered in all this goodness. Definitely go check it out!

Stephen S.

Yelp
If I could give -10 I would. Mom ordered a Black Forrest Cake for my birthday, and was quoted $17.95. Called today to verify price before pickup, was told $18.95. When cake was picked up they charged $19.95. They did not make a Black Forrest cake, they made chocolate with chocolate frosting. When I called the bakery to let them know, I was rudely told they don't do special orders, that they're an Italian bakery that doesn't make Black Forrest cakes! Then to top it the woman "assisting" me said, "So what, do you want a dollar back?". I would never recommend this shady place.

Linda A.

Yelp
I can't get passed those donuts. I want to try other things, but those darn donuts. Yummm. The crunchy old fashioned donut was perfect and the yeasted chocolate glazed was literally one of the best I've ever had. So fluffy, but dense and doughy. Chewy and satisfying. Ugh, love it.

Christine S.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS LIKE CRACK!! I'm new to the neighborhood and thought I would stop by for my hubby's love of donuts. We ordered so many things like donuts, a cannoli, brownies, cheesecake, cheese danish, spinach cheese & pepperoni calzone....and let me just say EVERY DANG THING WAS DELICIOUS!! I have been to multiple bakeries such a Wright's (overrated) and lasalle (good but a bit pricey) and this place takes the cake! My first time here and I will be going back for more!! We noticed an older man walk out from the back and assume he is the baker...we both agreed he is the best baker of all time. Have never been to a bakery and loved every single thing I've ordered but I did. COME TO THIS PLACE !!!

Josh W.

Yelp
I've only ever tried the donuts and I'm in love with them. I can only imagine how everything else is.

Peg C.

Yelp
I love this bakery! Hands down, you will never have a better chocolate covered donut. Many great pastry items and cakes, plus delicious bread and rolls! Their snowflake rolls are so good! The prices are very reasonable too.

Heather T.

Yelp
I've never had a better donut. The staff is fantastic and they have a huge selection, on the weekends they often have special donuts that they don't make during the week. It's not all donuts, the cheesecake, pastries and spinach pies/eggplant parm/Italian are also delish. The craziest thing is the price, while other spots charge $$$ for subpar treats, Deluise is so affordable.

Pete M.

Yelp
When I was in junior high at George west I gained so much weight mostly due to Deluise pastry and their spinach pies I just drove by and I had to stop in Spinach pies are as good as I remember Probably the best in the state!!!

Mike A.

Yelp
All I have to say is their apple pie and chocolate frosted donuts!!!! Words can't express!!!! Gooooo!!!!

Paula T.

Yelp
I remember going to this bakery with my Mom to get delicious bday cakes, Danish pastries, donuts and awesome seasonal pies. I was in the area and stopped in. The blueberry pie was amazing ... full of wild blueberries with a delicious sugared crust. Their donuts are light and airy with delicious frostings and sugared glazes. The creullers are crisp and crunchy on the outside yet soft and cakey with a hint of nutmeg. FANTASTIC. their Italian prune cookies and apricot butter cookies are just like home made. The prices are very reasonable. Oh one more thing their fruit danish and cheese danish are also awesome. Go visit and discover this old world bakery; you will b so happy!!!!!

Lori C.

Yelp
Chocolate frosted donuts the best around strawberry short cake ordered for a 60th birthday party totally missed the mark!

M J.

Yelp
Came here for the first time. Don't let its appearance fool you. Great, friendly staff and good bakery with reasonable prices. Good pastries and donuts. Got 6 things for about 8 dollars and some change. Can't complain one bit.

Rachael C.

Yelp
Normally when I go here, I get their classic yeast donut with chocolate frosting, but this time I decided to change it up a bit. I got a chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting. The chocolate frosting they use on their donuts is delicious. You can tell it's homemade with real chocolate and fresh. Add that frosting to a donut and BAM that donut is automatically good! Saying that, I had to dig deep to analyze just the dough part of the donut. Unfortunately, it's not the best. Both the yeast and the cake dough is pretty dry. I would recommend the cake over the yeast though. I wonder if they sell the chocolate frosting by the pound? I'd put that on everything I ate. Maybe that would get me to eat veggies... -The Donut Queen

Mandy D.

Yelp
It looks small from the outside, but this bakery has everything. They have a really great selection of pastry, breads and baked foods for extremely reasonable prices. When you walk in its almost overwhelming because it smells amazing and you just want to eat everything you see. OH the donuts. They are the amazing, heavy, old fashioned kind that really fill you up. Make sure you get one of the chocolate frosted ones... they are heavenly. The people here are super nice too. I was so overwhelmed by all of the pastry, but the woman behind the counter helped me pick out the good stuff and I left happy with my 1/2 dozen. I love this place and I'll be back soon.

Jessica S.

Yelp
It has happened my friends. The day has come. A bakery has finally rocked out a Bismark that can compete with my precious, now closed, Butlers in Westport. I never thought it would happen. It has taken years. Perfect cream, abundant flavorful jam, magic. I do prefer the longer shaped Bismarks to the round ones but that's just a weird personal preference lol. They taste the same. I've tried the brownie, a vanilla vanilla cupcake, a rum cake, mini blueberry turnover, chocolate frosted donut, sugar coated donut, and a mini cannoli. Everything was awesome. Fudgy brownie. Super moist cake. The apple turnover is a tad too over spiced for me but some may like it. Normal small portions, which I super love. Awesome prices with everything except the Bismark being under $1. You hear that? Suck it Seven Stars. with your $3+ brownies. I have a new love, and it is you Deluise. 2015 update- Still awesome :) This is one of my very favorite bakeries

Tracy P.

Yelp
Excellent Italian Pastries , fresh whipped cream, delicious pies , and the best donuts around, prices are very reasonable.

Shannon L.

Yelp
I've always ordered cakes from here for birthdays, anniversary parties and other events. Their donuts, pastries, breads and pizza are delicious and very reasonably priced as well. However I had a bad experience this week. I tried calling on Tuesday while they were open to order a cake and no one answered the phone for the last three hours that they were open. At one point, an employee picked up the phone and blatantly hung the phone up on me. I ended up having to call the Cranston location to order a cake from them and asked them why no one was answering the phone. They told me that they were open and they should've been answering the phone. Maybe I will try the Providence location again someday but the poor customer service is keeping me away.

Chandler D.

Yelp
Make sure to pick up your zeppole before Saint Joseph's Day! While everything is great here, be sure to try the Bismarck, chocolate eclair, jelly-filled coconut cruller and really any danish.

Paula C.

Yelp
Gail Ciampa is correct-- the chocolate zeppole is fantastic! Super caraway seed soda bread! Great donuts! I will be back.

Dyanna D.

Yelp
Went here because We were participating in PVD food fight. So my intention was to only have a donut. But a local police officer talked us into trying other donuts and the pumpkin muffin. The donuts were good. The muffin was great! Katie was behind the counter and was wonderful. I've never been here before and would have never found it, if not for the food fight. I look forward to coming back.

Diane D.

Yelp
This is the best place ever. Went today to get some doughnuts. Doughnuts, bread, danish, everything is so so good! Help is very friendly. Bought a piece of some kind of pink cherry chocolate cake. Best cake I've ever had in 58 years of my life!! I wish I bought more than one piece. I hope you have it next Sunday. .

Audrey R.

Yelp
My go-to for special occasions. Love all the old school donuts!!! Nothing fancy but that's what I like about it. My favorite are the glazed and jelly filled.

Stephen C.

Yelp
I can't believe I've never come to Deluise Bakery in the past! I have been missing out all these years. This past weekend we stopped in to get some pastries before we visited my mother and I was taken aback by the smells, the pastries, and the people. It reminded me of those Italian bakeries that used to be all over Rhode Island when I was growing up. They have it all, brownies, donuts, danish, pies, cakes, spinach pies, pizza strips, whatever you can think a bakery makes, they have or make it. My favorite is and has always been the brownie. It was done right, thick fudge, weighed and the consistency of a brick with a little bit of flower at the bottom. We also bought some fresh donuts, and several items at very cheap prices. It was so good we went back Sunday for more pastries to share with out neighbor who couldn't believe we've never been here before. In fact, it was so good we did go back again on Sunday just to order some pies and a donut cake for Thanksgiving this year. Fast and friendly, cheap prices, amazing pastries that'll keep you going back.

Dick M.

Yelp
I haven't been here in about 25 years but what I do remember is their lemon bars. The rest of their pastries and spinach pies were the best but I'll always salivate over the lemon bars with that flaky crust.

Kristen W.

Yelp
Some of the best chocolate frosted donuts around. So soft! I have to also recommend the zeppole, old fashioned glazed donuts, lemon and apple squares, and pies. I always order my mother a zuppa inglese cake from DeLuise for her birthday. Such a hardworking crew of guys in the back!

Kristin L.

Yelp
This bakery is incredible. They have a wide selection of sweet and savory but I come for the donuts. Specifically the chocolate frosted donut had changed my life. They also do a good old fashioned. They are very friendly and the items are well priced.

David B.

Yelp
Completely surprised at the constant blow off I keep getting from this place lately. I have always considered this the best bakery in RI. In fact have told them many times it's the last great bakery left. We put an order for Christmas Eve and we were only given half of it but charged for the whole order. We have called many times and my wife and I were blamed for their mistake and told to call back the next day. I called back the next day and the woman said with an attitude " sure you have to call back tomorrow and talk to the manager". 3 times this happened. Apparently the people you hired to replace the great workers just don't care and apparently management doesn't either. Over the last 25 years 10's of thousands of dollars spent in their bakery doesn't earn you respect or at least a correct

Jakob M.

Yelp
This bakery is awesome. I've only been a few times, but everyone has always been friendly and they've all provided great customer service. The donuts are amazing, and the chocolate frosted are by far the best. Also, there is a pretty good assortment so lots of choices for everyone. Enjoy...

Elena C.

Yelp
My husband and I were messing around on Yelp one night, and he decided to search 'donuts'. You see, I am not a huge fan of donuts, I do not crave donuts, they scarcely even cross my mind. That said, I can be convinced into many a foodie craving. My husband? Donut. Lover. For. Life. So, we searched, and DeLuise Bakery came up. We were familiar with the location, but never knew they made their own donuts! Amazing! I had some time the following day, so I stopped in. There they were: an entire row of diferent kinds of homemade donuts. Regular, old fashioned, chocolate frosted, chocolate frosted old fashioned, coconut sticks, jelly sticks, coconut with blueberry filing, glazed, glazed old fashioned...my head was spinning "ONE OF EACH!" I cried, barely recognizing my own voice. These were donuts worth waiting for, donuts that rivaled Allie's (sacrilege, I know), these were the donuts that would earn me the title "Wife of the Year" or at least "Wife of the Week". Spinach pies? "I'll take one" Torrone? "You make torrone? I'll take one of those, too!" I ate half of the spinach pie before I even got home. Did I mention that there is no eating allowed in my car? No? Well here I was, breaking my own rule. It was the perfect combo of garlicy-goodness and the ratio of pepperoni was perfect. I took the treats inside, and cut into every darn donut, taking a wedge to taste-test, and they were ALL spectacular. My favorite was the coconut blueberry. It was a fluffy and bready sweet sandwich of blueberry love...There were blueberries, like REAL blueberries in the middle! And the torrone...oh the torrone...I've never had any so fresh, so airy...the almonds were plentiful, every bite was a perfect juxtaposition of crunchy and soft. I adore thee, torrone from Deluise!!! I have to clarify why I only gave 4 out of 5 stars - it was their bread. It was very dense and dry, and did not last beyond that first day. I love a good Italian loaf (what carb-loving Italian gal wouldn't?!) but this one did not satisfy. Regardless, all of my other purchases were absolutely worth 5 stars.

Jillian Q.

Yelp
Everyone is right, the donuts here are legit! If it wasn't for yelp I never would have known this gem was so close to my home. We got a variety of donuts to try and they were all great. They are just so fluffy! There is no better way to describe these heavenly donuts. My husband loved the jelly and it was a pleasant surprise that it was filled with blueberry rather then the usual grape. I was partial to the chocolate frosted and glazed. Oh these donuts are filling too, I was satisfied after eating just one. I do agree that labels on the items in the case would be helpful, I felt like I was being a pest asking what everything was. Will definitely be back!

Vanessa L.

Yelp
I'm a bit of an italian bakery connoisseur, so I will often travel to different spots depending on specific items Im looking for. this is THE SPOT for spinach pies! from there the spectrum drops off a bit: cream pastries and pies are excellent, pepper biscuits here are good, as are the pizza strips, the bread is passable and I go elsewhere for my other miscellanceous confections. bottom line: GET THE SPINACH PIES!

Andrea M.

Yelp
My Favorite Bakery. You can experience the pride and integrity in everything they create. I love supporting a local company
