Great selection of beer! 🍺 Freshly made sushi each day! They have 4 different size shopping carts depending on how much good you get! Friendly staff!

Time of visit: October 2024 Shopped a lot here for daily supplies during our stay around the Monterrey Bay/Marina area. Very well stocked grocery stores with a lot of unique items we've never seen (especially the fruit jalapeno jam lol). Lots of local and fresh produce (especially the fruits and veggies) on sale, which seems to be the main draw for the locals. The self-service coffee beans hopper is also a rather rare sight, which stocks high quality beans. There's also a self-service cooked food at the corner (takeaway only), if my memory serves me right one portion usually costs $10. Price is generally more expensive than average grocery stores in the area, but hey you got what you pay for.

🌸We love stopping at Deluxe Foods of Aptos for lunch at the deli! They have a huge selection of cold drinks, locally made fare all with friendly service! Their selection of plants and seasonal flowers as you walk in gets me every time! 🌸

Love this place. Easy concierge for a great selection of choice foods and beverages. Great meat market. Great deli. They have a coffee shop and a Sushi Chef corner. You can find some of the best local ice cream and Pies.

Deluxe is my favorite grocery store ever! Maybe it’s the novelty of being at the beach house, maybe it is the thoughtfully curated collection of foods, maybe it is the friendly service… I just love it there. My favorite thing to do is to get a loaf of fresh Santa Cruz sourdough bread, some cured meats, some of the fancy artisan cheeses, and a few containers of olives and other pickled vegetables from the bar in the deli. They have great meat, a small sushi bar, a vast wine selection, and a variety of local goods. Sure, this grocery store is on the pricey side, but it is to be expected due to the quality and location. If you’re in the area, you have to check it out!

Best high quality foods in all departments, no lines, variety, and very friendly and helpful staff. The missing star is because NOTHING is ever on sale! (Why is this?)

I'm not sure if it's because I'm always on my way to the beach when I stop in here or if it's just that great of a store. Either way, five stars ❤️

Great sandwiches from the Deli. I've been had them 3 different times and each time I feel like I'm having the best sandwich ever!!! Kathy made my sandwich today and when I saw it I was so excited to eat it!!! Lol I don't think I could have made a better Turkey sandwich myself. It was absolutely delicious . Thanks Kathy for your great customer service and friendly smile. I'm still smiling . I also love their variety of food choices. I always get to take home something delicious to enjoy!

A compact, clean, and well-stocked grocery store full of the usual things but also highlighting local (Central Coast) and regional (NorCal) products. I had fun looking through their wines, cheeses, jams, and even plant starts. They have deli/bakery, seafood, and meat counters, hot/cold food bar, as well as house made sushi, which was being made while I was poking around the wine section. They have a wonderful wine section, and a large selection as half bottles. We did buy some sundries and had a humorous exchange with a friendly checker on our way out.

Been coming here forever, literally! Located in Deer Park in Aptos, Deluxe was one of the first places my mom took me as a baby just a few years after they opened. I grew up coming here for groceries and also wandering around browsing with friends during adolescent years. I've seen it go through a lot of changes with the addition of the Peet's and other fresh food options. The parking lot is plenty big, though the close spots tend to fill up quick. There are a few other stores and restaurants in the shopping center, though Deluxe is the headliner. There are two doors to enter as you come from the parking lot. As you walk in the left door, you'll find the Peet's coffee, a soup bar, hot food bar, salad bar, sushi bar with sushi chefs often making fresh rolls, the deli for meats, cheeses, sandwiches, and the bakery where you can order custom cakes and other items. They have a cooler section across from the hot food bar with all sorts of (local) salsas, dips, pizzas, and other food and drinks. If you keep going to the back left you'll find an extensive meat selection with butchers who are always eager to help. There is an olive bar if that's your thing, and a pretty good sized cheese section. They have a nice selection of (local) beers and a solid wine aisle. As you walk in the right door, you'll find the frozen food section that includes ice cream from a few local businesses, including Marianne's. Just past that are the produce and dairy sections. Deluxe is a locally owned and operated business founded by the Monte Family. They donate money to all sorts of local charities and schools throughout the year. I've met and interacted with Marc many times over the years, and have had only positive interactions. He even sponsored my little league team 20+ years ago with a little convincing from my mom lol. There used to be a big charity fireworks display with food booths and vendors, games, live music, and other entertainment down at Seacliff Beach where they would donate most proceeds to the local schools. I haven't been in years, but saw they just did their 26th annual show, however it's now at Capitola Beach and is free admission. The prices sometimes tend to be higher on the brand name items since they don't do sales as often as the larger chain grocers. However, the high quality of fresh foods, support of local businesses, continuous donations to local schools and charities, and friendly faces will always keep me coming back!

What a great find! I was with friends in Capitola and we decided to have Salmon and Polenta as part of our dinner plan. The only place nearby that had authentic Polenta was Deluxe Foods. When I called to determine if they had it, Michael read the name and style of each one they carried. How helpful was that!! After entering the store we were impressed with everything, cheeses, wines, breads and imported items. Sean the butcher cut 4 perfectly sized salmon portions for us. My husband thought the salmon was the freshest he had had in a while. Micheal was our cashier and explained that this is truly a family store, and he is family. The store was 20+ minute drive for us, but we both said we will be back on our next visit to Capitola. .

I live nearby, and they have the best of everything! Their organic produce selection is always spot on and doesn't turn moldy in my refrigerator like some other store's produce does. Every employee at Deluxe is always smiling and friendly, no matter who you are!

Immaculate market with seasonal produce, fresh deli, butcher shop, and bakery too. Huge catch was freezer section of Marianne's Ice Cream :-) Yum, check it out!!

The place is catered to super wealthy clientel that's known ,but they feel they need to buckle and dime everybody even more when ever possible for example if you want simple additions such as blue cheese dressing or crutons to your salad they have posted thst there is a 25 cent and 50 cent charge for those items to be on your salad ! Frickin retarded and in nessesary

Been coming here for decades. They have a lot of quality items, but you expect to pay for it. Came in for a sandwich earlier and sometime in the last couple of weeks they have raised their prices from 12 to 15 dollars. This is a 25% increase. They explained that inflation, the UPS strike, high gas prices etc. There is an ongoing trend where companies are raising prices at very high rates and blaming it on inflation. They believe the customer will take it and smile and not ask questions. Well...not this guy. We vote with our dollars and I will not be buying these sandwiches out of principle. I left without a sandwich and went and got a great sandwich for under 10 at another grocery store.

I have been coming here for about 8 years. Its a specialty place I guess similar to Trader Joes or Sprouts. They have sooo many local products such as ice cream. They have a deli area where you can get sandwiches or yummy antipasto items. I always get the marinated mushrooms (very garlicky), roasted garlic, got strawberry marionberry pie, was so good. Similar to Gizdich. The employees are also usually pretty friendly. Some employees and customers are a lil snooty, thinking they are better than others... such as shopping in a Whole Foods. They are more costly than the average store. But if you want items you won't find anywhere else. This is your place.

Oh you fancy, huh? Come with some money in your banking account, because you gonna spend it. But, what is that saying? You pay for what you get? That's mostly correct here. Wow to their fish and meat selection. A huge counter filled with fresh stuff. We got fish, a steak and their stuffed mushrooms and dang it, it was all good and all worth the money. So impressed. This is an upscale market and they have some of those generic name brands you see at Safeway and other large box stores, but they also carry a ton of local brands and more boutique items. Fancy charcuteries, cheeses, cookies, they have it here. The Fage yogurt was like $8-$10, which is INSANE. But then other things weren't marked up as much. So pick and choose. Overall, we came here because it was convenient for some delicious tasty eats and wanted to get everything in one fell swoop. However, if you have the time, patience and want to save a few bucks, I'd get your produce & meat & specialty items here and save the rest of those groceries for Safeway up the street! But for real, this spot is awesome if money ain't a thing.

This is a nice little market. The meat counter has butchers who know what they are doing. Good quality meat at decent prices. It's not a super market so you want to find a huge selection but what they do have is good and the prices are reasonable.

The sandwiches are AWESOME. Kudos to the staff. Went expecting random grocery store sandwiches and was surprised to take away some of the best sandwiches on this sided if Aptos In terms of both flavor and value. Keep up the good work. Also great selection for a small grocery store, have everything we need from day to day and have even discovered some fun new foods and brands. Love it.

I am a remote/on line shopper from Deluxe Foods. The shopper was one of the best in my experience. And Deluxe is the only place I found B & R Apricot spread.

I'd like to start by saying I actually like Deluxe. But, this is hilarious. The people at the deli area are all bitter about life and make the customer experience terrible, but it is what it is. I like the sandos for the most part. The reason I write in today is about the Chateau Briand! This is all fake news. My wife wanted to surprise me with one of my favorite cuts, the head of a tenderloin, or as many people call it, a Chateau Briand. She had me unpack it and get it ready, immediately I noticed it was a top sirloin. A $38 "choice" top sirloin at that. I've cooked professionally for 5+ years and let's just say I know what I am looking at. I called Deluxe and a gentleman acknowledged that they mark top sirloin as Chateau Briand, and would offer a refund. I said id grab the piece of nonsense and return it for my $38. I walked in with this horrible piece of meat (never choose top sirloin for those of you reading this, it's a stew cut in my mind), I talked to the "butcher", he said that I may be confused and Chateau Briand, in French, means "Chefs Cut". Apparently chefs "choose what chateau briand" is depending on what they have? This is complete bullshit. I asked to swap out / exchange for something else, the "butcher" said no and no exchange was welcome despite giving me the refund. Sadly, I forgot my set of knives because maybe he could learn both knife skills and some manners. What a shame.

I wanted to love this place. It has lots of great stuff and isn't as overpriced as you might think it would be given the name "Deluxe Foods of Aptos" Everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful. We stopped by to grab some fish for dinner. Bought a few rock cod fillets that were amazingly fresh and super delicious. We also bought 2lbs of clams, but that's where the problem came in. I cook clams a lot (one of my favorites) and was excited to try both the clams and the cod from Deluxe after reading some reviews on Yelp. Sadly, the clams were no good. Of the 2lbs, only about 6 clams actually opened when cooked. I kept and treated them the way I always do with live clams and actually cooked these much sooner after buying them than I often do. Sadly they were just selling bad clams.

This store always elicits wonderful memories for me since I grew up going here, and the staff is consistently warm. Everything is pretty easy to find and the store is mid-sized. The produce department is great and provides a fresh, local selection. I like that they have diverse items and feature weekly offerings that change. They have an incredible variety of chocolate also. The sandwich department is simple but high quality. You can get creative and order something really delicious with that they have. The store is always tidy and the lines are never more than 2 people. They will immediately open a new register if they see a line forming.....ahem-Safeway, take a hint! The best departments are the butcher and cheese. *Pro-tip: get the skirt steak and have them marinate it in the teriyaki sauce for you. You will thank me later :) I also love the fact that there is always a team member available when you have a question/concern/etc. It means so much in this day and age! Keep up the great work, Deluxe. Even though I spend way too much money at your store, I really think it's worth it for the high quality ingredients, sweet ambiance, attentive staff and overall pleasant experience!

Quality offerings, very few disappointments with produce and meats. The Deli sandwich bar needs to improve and revert back to pre-pandemic ordering. Current process of waiting for deli staff to complete a "sandwich order ticket" is bizarre. Customers must wait for staff to complete taking and filling orders before your order is taken. The former process of allowing customers to fill out orders, submit, then one could continue shopping and stop back later to pick up the sandwich, way more efficient and customer friendly than current process.

Selection! Selection! Selection! Ice cream lovers, Deluxe Foods might be your heaven on earth. This market has an incredibly generous display of Marianne's ice cream, among many other artisan brands. Their baking section is a flour connoisseur's dream with a wide variety of flour choices including several imported from Italy and einkhorn flour as well. We were enamores with the coffee, tea and hot chocolate choices as well as the endless choices of artisan scone mixes. The meat section is not lacking as well! Check this place out! I am sure you will not regret making a pit stop.

Great neighborhood store in Rio Del Mar area. We love their made to order sandwiches. They carry local eggs from Glaum Ranch. Excellent selection of Mariannes ice cream as well as other brands. Wine and beer choices are many and include local wines and brews. Sushi made on premises. Local strawberries are usually found here. Very good cheese selection. Now I'm getting hungry, lol. If you mention the Santa Cruz SPCA when you check out they will donate 5% of your purchase to them. :-)

Deluxe Food (where I'm shopping almost every day) is a great store with the highest quality food and perfect customer service. Especially I'd like to mention Mr. Omar who works in meat department. He is a very helpful and professional person. I want to say thank you management of Deluxe Food for hiring such employee like Mr. Omar.

This is a really great neighborhood store. Ladies at the Deli are the friendliest and it's always a pleasure to talk to them when they're taking your order. The cashiers are the same way. Always a friendly word there too! Wish some of that would rub off on the butchers. Had a real nice one help me today (didn't get his name, darn it!), but most of the time, I feel like I'm only a number, not a friend. Be a little more personable to everyone! I just live a couple of blocks away, so it's my "close to home store". I use their meats quite a bit, but always feel, as I approach the meat counter, that I'm just another annoyance, not a good customer....come on guys!!! Can't tell you how many times they didn't say thank you, once they've finished my order. Usually, I'm the one thanking them. We all breathe the same air.... Let's not let customer service be a thing of the past!

On the spendy side for regular groceries BUT Always a go to for last minute items, breakfast burritos, coffee bar, sandwiches and deli items. Sadly the new deli manager removed the Asiago Pasta from the case... so sad as it was great and a must buy. Please bring it back.

One of the best things about Deluxe Foods of Aptos is that they stock fresh pies from Gizdich Ranch in Watsonville. Nita Gizdich runs an integrated pie farm, raising the fruit and making pies in her own shop. These are handmade pies like your grandma might have made, with butter crust and no commercial touch. The meat department is excellent, with (for example) fresh chickens from Mary's Chickens, one of the best, cleanest farms in California. Taste and see if you can see the difference. Mary's lacks the prevalent unknown flavor ingredient in supermarket chicken--chicken poop. The deli is excellent, with big, flavorful sandwiches. (They use Mary's chicken.)

Wow! Their sandwiches are good (which is why they get 2 stars) yet their customer service is "too good for you..." (which is also why they ONLY get 2 stars) I often head in here and get a breakfast burrito in their take & go selection (no customer service needed). Yet every time I call in a sandwich it's similar to this last weekend's experience. Called at 10:30* I called to make a sandwich order and the gal who answered the phone said; "Oh theyre pretty busy... let me check" then hollared to the people in the back; "Can anyone take a phone order?" as if she was incapable of using a pen herself. *I'm confused, maybe her job description is specific to answer phone and provide questionable or lack of customer service.* Moving on- I heard in the background response to her inquiry. "uhhh No" "Seriously, No" and she came back on the phone to say; "Sorry you'll have to call back in 20minutes." Ummm, in 20 minutes I'll be a person added to your long line of people waiting. Duh, how inefficient can you think or be? So stupid! So I just laughed and hung up... and called Pixies deli down in Rio and they are ALWAYS line out the door busy yet not too busy to take down a couple sandwich orders over the phone, it's called customer service and also it alleviates another addition to their line. It's called effective thinking, or efficiency... Learn about it. Also The Patio has great sandwiches too... as well as The Cactus Corner. Three other options with far better and CAPABLE service skills. *Here's a note: if your workers are overwhelmed, hire more workers.* If you do get some service here grab an Egg Salad ( I usually go with French Roll, cheddar, pickles and mustard), or their Salami. Their Egg Salad is pretty damn good thou. Prob my favorite. (This place is still at the top of my list for favorite sandwiches, yet they need to step up their service game.)

I've always loved deluxe. It has great sandwiches, huge cheese selection, great produce, good baked goods and a little coffee shop inside. It is a little expensive but there are real quality products that are hard to find at other stores. Big shout out to the living legend and world's greatest butcher Angel. He helped me out when I was waiting at the bakery and made sure that I got help.

Love the market. Love the deli and hot food choices they have. Its the perfect lunch spot!

I'm so disappointed that Deluxe does not sanitize at all!! We shop there all the time and have spent thousands there. That's done until they change!!! The sanitizing station is a joke. Do better by your community, Deluxe!

A+ for carrying the Fronen brand ice cream. C for not carrying the Mint Chip or Peanut Button flavors. Order more flavors!

Today we stopped at Deluxe for sandwiches , chips and some iced tea for a lovely lunch on the beach. The lady behind the sandwich counter was polite and efficient, took order immediately and the sandwich making took 10 minutes. The sandwich was huge, full of fresh deli meat, bread and several toppings. Our sandwiches were all excellent and enjoyed. Our sandwich was $8.99. We will be back. Thank you Deluxe. You are a neighborhood treasure.

Really horrible service, but everything else is pretty high quality. I don't know if it's the snotty customer base or the ownership that makes the employees so miserable, but it's a very unpleasant shopping experience. The location is great and their meat and cheese selection keeps me coming back for special occasions. Avoid if you're going any further north on 1.

My parents have shopped here for many years. They are locals, and I visit when I can as I now live over the hill. Deluxe is a notch above your average Safeway. That being said, the biggest reason my parents shop here is the meat department. The meat department quality in their opinion has been falling. Many items that used to be available are not, such as the spicy pork kabobs, frankfurters, and the quality of the meat itself is slipping. Simply put, my parents have decided not to count on Deluxe meat department for their future purchases.

This is in a great location but heaven help you if you care about cost. Today I bought a jar of mayonnaise and some salsa, got home and saw same exact items at Target to confirm I paid 80% and 85% more, respectively, than Target prices. We don't expect neighborhood prices to compete with big box stores, but these differentials are punitive, as if you are grocery shopping in an airport or a movie theatre or some other place where we expect to be gouged. Sucks to deal with Trader Joe's parking lot but tough to turn down savings of ~80%.

Just passing through, stopped by go shopping for things I needed and use the restroom. The restroom were closed to the public. I didn't buy anything because of that. How can people buy some stuff and use the restroom who don't live anywhere close by? I left already the area but I should pooped in the parking lot!

I'm 14 and I love deluxe I live about a mile away and i like to stop there after school and most the time I just get my soda sit down and wait to get picked up but lately these security guards started taking pictures of ppl doing little things like scating without a helmet and they only annoy the jr highers and they took a video of my dad stopping to pick me up and when my dad asked if we weren't supposed to be there he said we were supposed to be 18 or older

Mecca! We are staying in a house on the beach and needed a few items...this store is one huge Wow! Reminds me of the famed Faletti's in San Francisco. They have everything...from an impressive meat and seafood counter to great produce and myriad gourmet items. "I shall return!"

Kathy at checkout is one of the rudest people I've encountered at this store. I come here atleast 3 times a week and there isn't a day when I come in where she doesn't do something rude. You can tell she's racist and always give back attitude. Get it together Kathy.

Plain and simple: if it weren't for the tourists from out of town this place wouldnt exsist... When you pay 70 bucks for 2 lbs of steak you would think there wouldnt be flys all over it. So crazy, I mean i could go to safeway a mile away and get better meat for half the price, and no flys! So gnarly, being an Aptos long time local I can see why ive been here only twice in the last 20yrs.

Needed a local option for baked goods on a Sunday morning and Deluxe Foods delivered. According to other reviews it looks like they bring their bagels in from the Bagelry and man are they good. There was also an assortment of pastries including donuts. The apple fritter was delicious. Can't say much about the other departments but the overall feeling was positive.

This is a wonderful upscale store that has everything - from fresh sushi and a butcher shop and great produce and florals. We were having a Wedding Shower and the staff really went out of their way and helped us select all the right menu items. Were were there a lot that weekend. Yes, pricey.

Deluxe is the best place to live by! The best thing here are the sandwiches!! They make them with super fresh and tasty meat, I always get the maple turkey. There's no other sandwiches like it in Aptos. The baked goods are really great here too, I like the orange chocolate chip cookies, lemon cookies, and the frosted cookies the best. The prices are a bit higher here than other grocery stores... But some of the things are of better quality, and worth the extra money.

Came here to check out their bakery items. We tried their bear claw 1.89, Apple scone 2.89 and 3 inch key lime pie 4.89. All pretty good. They also have a nice olive bar that includes marinated mushrooms and a few other marinated items. I tried both marinated mushrooms, garlic and jalapeño both really good. I got a small mix of olives really good too. I am going to have to work my way through olive bar, yum. They also have a hot food bar and sushi set up similar to whole foods we'll come back to try these.

This is an awesome market. So lucky/happy to have it in Aptos. As good as any market I have been to. Nice variety, great quality. Great veggie aisle. Friendly, local vibe. Lots of local providers in everything from bread to salsa (like 5 different local salsa makers, sourdough from watsonville etc.). No liquor - you have to go to the liquor store next door for that. Not cheap, but not trying to be.

Been going here for over 20 years. Generally good service and line, wait time management. I only get certain stuff here like beer, fresh bread occasional sandwich as they are hi priced. One gripe is expired items. On a number of occasions I've found expired yogurt and not just by a few days. Recently found yogurt over 2 weeks expired and notified staff.

I love this store!!! Small, yet quaint and full of everything you need for a beach outing. The bakery is small, but adequate and the deli is really good. The service is a little off and the prices a little steep, but you can't beat convenience sometimes.

4 stars really? This place is a little overpriced for the selection they have. Maybe because of the location (near the beach) the jack up their prices. I came here today with a few friends to get some snacks and brew. Their hot food bar had 6 different selections of soup but not that much of variety other than that. The food was not up to par at all. It tasted like it had been sitting out there for days! I think what was suppose to be fried chicken tasted like soggy chicken that was dry on the inside. The baked potato covered in cheese and bacon also taste flavorless. My bf paid about $21 for nasty food. I'm guessing they charge by the pound..that's why it was so expensive. SO not worth it. I guess the only thing about this place is it's location which was near to the beach. It was also clean and had a wide selection of groceries but that didn't matter much to me since I didn't go to shop for groceries. I wouldn't suggest eating their food from the hot food bar. Kinda gross and really expensive. Definitely no bang for your buck!

Normally I wouldn't shop at a boutique grocery store, but hell, I'm on holiday. Deluxe has a wonderful salad bar, hot food bar, olive bar, deli, butcher, peets coffee bar, blah blah. I didn't see it all. I didn't get further than the deli, really. Sandwiches made to order after filling out a little slip of paper with exactly what you want. Despite my frequent changes of mind and subsequent scribbles, they got it right and my sandwich was brilliant. Service both at the deli and the check-out were amazingly friendly. Pricey.
