Let me start by saying Apple cider donuts. OMG soft and delicious. The apple cider is just as good. If it wasn't so far I would go there tomorrow to get some. In addition to that, they have a wide selection of pumpkins, fully stocked buffet/ salad bar, a sandwich station and a host of baked goods, jams, jellies and nuts. Friendly staff willing to help. We went two week before Halloween, so it was PACKED. We waited on line for 10 minutes to get inside of the store. Everything is well organized, and the staff knows how to manage the crowd. There is a small lot of animals and play structure for the kids

My kids got pumpkins and apples cider donuts which are so yummy . Cant wait for holiday Christmas lights. last year was amazing im sure this will be great as well kids are already talking about it !!

Went over the weekend and it was a mad house. We didn’t even try to get into the parking lot. That being said, today (Wednesday), a beautiful fall day, there were people and school groups, but it was much better. No trouble parking. Lots of entertaining things for children, from petting zoo, to picking out pumpkins. We heard their cider doughnuts are “the best” so we got some. They were good. Fresh and tasty. A nice treat. We also got the Apple and plum cobbler bar, and that was outstanding. Sweet and tart and a nice crumb top. Perfect with tea and watching the Mets! The site is accessible, but it does get crowded.

Good Store get the apple cider and cinnamon sugar donuts!! Cute place went with a daycare school trip. Prepare for porta potty’s!! Hayride is across street from store the park behind Apple orchard is adorable. Overall a decent time. Nothing to fancy it’s right off a main road.

More than a farm is a store selling all kind of products for the season and absolutely overpriced, a bag of pumpkin seeds $10!! Came mostly for the donuts as they were said to be the best but oh well, the r ok, kind of the taste of a regular donut as whoever can make home, not pumpkin spice or anything. On the other hand the oatmeal cookie is excelent. The staff seems not to be really helpful mostly disinterested or even rude depending if they like u or not bit, well considering the political signs in a house crossing over the road, u can tell why they have that atittude. I didn't like where they keep the animals, all together goats with llamas with a couple of pigs...and begging for food instead of having they hey available all the time.

Beautiful farm! We got 14lbs of peaches and nectarines for pies, canning, and gifts. Wonderful place for families and babies - expansive store. A great deal for the u-pick family experience with a free petting zoo.

I've been here for apple picking before but this is the first time I've been here for peach picking. I came here with a few friends and their baby on a Sunday at 1. You have to pre-purchase tickets for a certain time slot online ahead of time. Admission is $5 per person, and it's $18 for a bag to put your peaches in, which holds about 10-12 lbs (according to their website). Parking and the store are on one side, and then you have to cross a large street to get over to the orchards. We went on the second weekend of peaches and a lot of them weren't really ready to be picked yet. But we did manage to get some good peaches. They even have donut peaches! But not a lot so you really have to keep an eye out. We shared a bag and must have gotten maybe 50 peaches or so (they're small). I'd definitely recommend sharing a bag because the peaches don't last that long. There were a few that went moldy the next day. Overall, it's an okay farm. There are better ones out there but if you don't want to drive too far, this option isn't bad.

UPDATED - 9/7/24 Being the first Saturday after Labor Day, my partner and I went to get a head start on the best-of-the-best apple cider donuts from one of Bergen County’s farms, made fresh daily, just oozing with apple cidery goodness and never hot. Located on Werimus Road in Hillsdale, the Demarest Farm is our go-to place at their farm market for these donuts. The general consensus is that apple cider doughnuts joined the mainstream in the 1950s. Upon arrival, parking was available close to their store, and it wasn’t busy or crowded. They sell all harvest fruits and vegetables from the farm, as well as delicious prepared foods hot and cold, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and more! We decided on a box of cinnamon apple cider donuts, apple cider, plums, and a small potato salad. For lunch, we picked up a tuna fish wrap and a chicken salad sandwich with drinks. The food wasn’t cheap, but it was good. We sat to enjoy our meal at one of the tables with other patrons under a mesh covering near the parking lot. The outside play area for the kids is always fun to visit. They can also enjoy the free petting zoo by feeding the goats, sheep, pigs, or alpaca healthy crackers one can buy at the store. The staff here is all very friendly and willing to help. We continue to recommend this place, but come early. ——————- As the crisp air of early fall starts to grace the landscapes of northern Jersey, some people wait all year for that’s pumpkin spice latte while others are more of the apple cider donut type. Being the first Saturday in autumn, my partner and I went to get the best-of-the-best apple cider donut from one of Bergen County’s farms, made fresh daily and just oozing with apple cidery goodness. Located in Hillsdale, the Demarest Farm is our go-to place at their farm market for those donuts. Upon entering, it wasn’t a mad house; only a few patrons, as the rain kept most away. They offer three types (plain, powered sugar, and cinnamon sugar). A small box of five donuts was $7.49. Box of 10 donuts was $14.99. We decided on a small box each of powered sugar and cinnamon sugar along with a 1/2 gallon of their apple cider juice. The donuts have just the right amount of ingredients and cooked to perfection. Besides donuts, they had a variety of baked goods, prepared foods and snacks, as well as fruits and vegetables. The food is not cheap, but it is good. We can still recommend it, but come early.

Yelp
Why I haven't been here sooner is beyond me! Creature of habit driving to upstate NY to go apple picking, but today we just wanted a short ride and try somewhere new. This was perfect for our expectations today. 25 min drive arrived at 9:00am on a Saturday. We arrived just in time as influx of families came closer to 10am. Great for those who can't walk far distances or uneven grounds. We opted to go right near the store area which had plenty of pre-picked pumpkins of all varieties, gigantic mum planters, small petting zoo with chicken coup and some fun area to take pics for children or the kid in your adult heart. Store had so many items to choose from with fresh veggies, candy, baked goods, decorations, sauces/jams, and cider. Even has a salad bar with hot & cold goods for quick bite. Staff was so pleasant and everything was organized and clean. Very little selection of baskets of apples which was a little surprising compared to other farms, but it was perfect for us. Pick your own pumpkins is across the street where I assume apples may have been, but you are supposed to reserve tickets online and yesterday their site stated no tix available for Oct for apples. I'll stick to NY for that experience! Fave part for us was it was less crowded, odd varieties of pumpkins which I just had to get very well priced, great apple crumb homemade pie, excellent fresh cider donuts and tasty cider! I will note I just don't spend $30-$40 for traditional pumpkins anymore as my local grocery store sells huge ones for $6 or 2 for $10! We opted to save those funds and buy all other stuff and stop at our store and grab our 2 pumpkins. Enjoyable experience for our 1st visit, but may try going in September next year as other reviewers photos from then had much more.

Yelp
My son and I have been here quite a bit over the years. I think they have just got too big. I took my son to see the Halloween lights. The website said it was a 20-25 min drive through their 32 acre farm. It took us 15 mins to drive through and you back track over the road you came in on. We were disappointed and this cost $40! We stopped at the farm market and wanted to get some apples and other treats. I was charged the higher last price for the apples as I did our each type in a bag but they didn't have bags available. When I mentioned it to the cashier she just shrugged...

Yelp
I came to Demarest Farm for apple picking on a beautiful Fall day. First and foremost, it's good to point out that you need to make a reservation prior to arriving so that you can reserve how many bags you want. Once checked in, you are guided to parking where the whole process is super organized and seamless. From there, you have so many apples to choose from. After getting all my apples, I went to the main store to grab some delicious donuts, cider and sandwiches. It was a great day!

Yelp
Two words - blueberry pie!! And then three words - apple cider donuts!!! My only complaint is the hassle to find parking. The delicious treats more than make up for that annoying inconvenience. This is the only place I have and will eat blueberry pie. As someone who is not a fan of blueberries (as a fruit), this pie exceeded any expectation I may have had. It's the crust for me! The buttery, flaky scrumptious crust does it for me. It perfectly contrasts the blueberry compote and burst of flavors on your tongue. Also, the apple cider donuts are phenomenal. I am not sure if they're made on the premises, but fresh out/warm are the best way to go! The long lines are proof and a good sign that there's plenty of deliciousness to go around!!!

Yelp
Demarest Farm is always a pleasant visit this time of year. The farm is nicely decorated with Fall themes, items, food, and especially....their apple cider donuts. As always, you are able to pick your own apples and pumpkins. If you want a less crowded experience, go during the week, because the weekends are justifiably crowded. It's good to know, that we have a farm of this caliber right in Bergen County. I highly recommend a visit and enjoy all of what they offer.

Lisa B.

Yelp
We had a lovely visit at Demarest farms. Truth - we went for the candy apples. This is time of year for it! They have a wonderful set up outside of pumpkins and the kid activities. The store is organized well in that the line is long but it winds through the store so best to get on and just wait and walk and shop as you wait. It is pricey. But the products are quality. And the whole experience is what we wait for once a year and they do it so well here.

Jessica L.

Yelp
Great little farm to stop at. Next time I will remember that you can eat here and we will see about doing that. Had the apple cider donuts which were really good. I think I preferred the original without cinnamon and sugar but both were good. The ones we got were still warm from the fryer! The apple butter tasted fresh. The store has a lot of things to look at and purchase. It's fun to go in the back and feed the animals as well. There's a little play area for the kids if you want to spend a little time there. The bathrooms are kinda gross though.

Rena Z.

Yelp
Demarest Farm is a great place to visit during pumpkin season with the family. They have a nice pumpkin patch to take pics in, a cute petting zoo, and a playground for the kids. The apple cider donuts were amazing and the best I've had this season.

Cole D.

Yelp
Fantastic 10 pack of donuts. The apple cider donuts are terrific. Like a cake donut. Super tasty. $4 for one honeycrisp apple? Ok, little pricy. Cute place.

Siddhi J.

Yelp
A very cute and kid friendly farm! Came here with family for a sunday funday and my nieces and nephew had a great time! From the hay ride, to petting zoo, picking pumpkins and the playground, the best part was of course the fresh apple cider and donuts! You definitely need to make a reservation and it can still be quite crowded; but definitely a place to check out if in the area.

Daniel B.

Yelp
Excellent apple picking experience! The prices were reasonable, the fields weren't crowded (it was worth waking up early for the 8am) and the apple varieties were very nicely labeled. It's clear you're in a planted grove - so if you prefer massive trees scattered all over the place, this might not be your choice, but I really enjoyed the experience. The cider and cider donuts were both delicious as well! Might be my new go to spot for apple picking!

Kiley K.

Yelp
Beautiful way to enjoy a fall day! There is a fee to visit the pumpkin patch and there is also a mandatory $13 pumpkin charge per reservation which seemed a little weird but other than that the experience was great. The sugared apple cider doughnuts were some of the best I've had and the petting zoo and hay ride were also fun!

Yelp
Since, I wasn't able to respond to the crappy response from the business. Adding another review here. As you can see from my screenshot, I mentioned all the reasons why a person would go pumpkin picking and not want to purchase a pumpkin. 1. I am in the process of moving and so I did not plan on decorating this year. 2. I was going to spend time with my niece and nephews who obviously were getting pumpkins. 3. There is no rule that says you cant go pumpkin picking just to take photos and purchase pumpkin pie (which I did even after the staff was rude)

Yelp
I came to the demarest farm with a group of 5. When we arrived, we were directed into the apple picking farm parking. It was quite busy on a saturday afternoon. But it was organized, which was great. They checked our ticket in the car before parking. 3 of us came together and my friend paid for us in advance with the bag to carry the apples yet when we got our tickets checked the worker only gave us one. Luckily, we were able to pick up the other 2 later without any issues. Once you park, you're free to rome the apple tree areas. Every type of apple tree section is labeled, so you know which is which. You can get an apple picker stick at the front. It's best to get that before you start walking around. Afterward, you leave the area when you're done and can drive to the market on the farm. You can buy all types of things, but the real winners are the apple cider donuts and the apple cider juice. It is a bit pricey, but it is honestly delicious. It's a nice activity to do with family or friends, for sure.

Yelp
Agri-tourism spot. Nice seasonal programs for families. Quality fruits and vegetables. Salad bar for lunches. Deli sandwiches not good quality: 'cheap' rolls.

Dorothy L.

Yelp
I saw this place pop up for me for peach picking, so I am excited since I have nothing been and want to know what it is like!! So this review only about peach picking during weekdays!! As I read on other reviews mentioned that they are crazy busy over the weekends, so I don't know anything about weekends.. 1. You should purchase your ticket online - they recommended it.. not sure if they would let you in if you didn't.. 2. Parking - we park by the store area, and they also have additional parking on the side on the grass.. not sure how big the lot is, so I can see that this place can get very packed on the weekend when everyone wants to go!! 3. Check ins - We got checked in inside the general store. They check our name on their list, gave us the wristband, and the plastic bag for picking. 4. Actual picking location - across the street!! It could be a problem for some (especially for those being stroller) you can walk up couple stairs by the store toward the interception!! But if you have stroller and little one inside I see that I would be very difficult!! Then you have to walk toward the actual farm area.. as we know that road is not smooth so it could be hard for some regular stroller!! But luckily, the peach tree are toward the front!! So you don't really have to walk far to get to pick!! When I went, there are still a lot of peach on the tree... they don't look ripe enough yet, some a red on one side, and green on the others, but some are pretty red (but still firm).. The only recommendation I might give is if they can let us know their verity of the peach? Honestly I was trying to look for different kind of peach, but I am not sure if they have?? Or if I didn't venture deep enough.. or I should have asked before I go.. not sure... 5. Store - they have a lot of different kind of goodies at the store : donut, veggies, other fruits, pie, pastry, dressing, honey, etc... only thing is they don't have apple cider yet (well, apple are not ready, I don't assume they have it) 6. Petting zoo - they are next to the store. It is not huge, but the literally come all over you as soon as you approach.. I think they might be very hungry!! Haha Overall, this is a fun experience... given this might be the only PYO farm in Bergen county.. will try to go back for apple picking or try their apple cider!! But kinda disappointed that we have to cross that road to get to the farm.. not sure where the apple tree are, and if it's behind the peach tree then it will be a long walk to get to the apple tree and which mean stroller will not be accessible (or require lot of muscle mass!!)

Margaret C.

Yelp
This farm used to be so friendly so accommodating and now they're getting a little too big for their britches overcharging for everything. I actually just went there with a friend to grab lunch and they refused a person that had a service dog and the woman had the audacity to ask the person what her handicap was, God is that illegal on so many levels. She has no right to ask that question the person had paperwork and asked if she can go in and grab a box of donuts. I will never come here again. I will never recommend this place to anybody. They're all sitting around doing absolutely nothing and they wouldn't allow this woman to go. Absolutely terrible shame on them. I hope nobody or anybody in their family ever has a handicap and is made to feel like that.

Yelp
We're former New Jerseyans, and we tend to visit this kitschy place for apple cider and apple cider donuts when we visit family in the fall. Demarest Farms has been around for a while, yet I don't think they can figure out what they want to be. On one hand, there's a pumpkin patch and some (pricey) apple picking. On the other hand, there's a petting zoo and the Halloween light show/Orchard of Lights events. And then, there's the little store that sells tons of apple sauce, pies, some produce -- and the apple cider donuts that I enjoy. Except, the last couple of visits (this year -- 2023 and in 2019), the donuts weren't much better than the ones I could buy from a grocery store bakery. Not bad by any means ... just nothing special as I remember from way back, when we came here more regularly as residents. Will we return? Sure. Maybe in a year or two. Will Demarest Farms add a Ferris wheel and kiddie rollercoaster by then? It wouldn't shock me. And unfortunately, the quality of the donuts will likely suffer as a result.

Amanda L.

Yelp
I had to come here to get some apple cider and apple cider donuts! This is one of the closest farms near me and I'm glad that I can pick up some fall goodies only after driving a few minutes! There is no admission if you just wanted to visit the market and the petting zoo area. You can pet and feed the animals! The apple cider was super refreshing and there are a few size options which was nice. The apple cider donuts only came in one sized packaging unfortunately, but there are a few flavors such as powdered, plain and cinnamon sugar. I got the sugar coated donuts and they were fresh and yummy! You probably only spend about an hour or so if you dont do any apple or pumpkin picking but it's definitely a nice spot to visit during the fall!

Drew O.

Yelp
The lights were just meh. Took about 10 minutes to drive through it. The Santa they had was obnoxious. You had to show your qr code for everything. For what they charge it wasn't worth it.

Ashley L.

Yelp
Very nice farm. Love the yummies inside! (Pies were a little more costly than other farms) However we went here because online they advised pumpkin patch was open and when we went in after driving 1.5 hrs from NY, they said they were closed. I tried calling I said, they were too busy Never the less cute photo ops and some animals outside. Also, a lot of seating outside. We spent some time. We bought some goodies and left to another patch!

Chris E.

Yelp
Probably not the biggest apple picking or pumpkin patch/farm, but if you're looking for a short drive and convenience in Bergen County, then you'll find it in Demarest Farm. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to go into the Farm store, but we did go apple picking and visited the pumpkin patch and we loved our experience here. Basically, if you're a first timer, then you should know that the apple farm is in a separate area from the Farm store. When driving here, there are 2 directions that you can go - either the farm or the store. The apple farm is a pretty decent size and consists of many varieties of apples as you would expect. The deeper you go into the farm, the more apples you will see, especially high up in those trees. The closer you are to the entrance, the less apples there will be to pick. Pretty much expected since the trees closer to the entrance have been picked bare, especially deeper into the picking season. And, if you're looking for Fuji and Honey Crisp apples, you will definitely find them here, but don't be surprised to also see that those trees are the most raided. Just be prepared to do some major stretching of your arms to reach for them. As for the pumpkin patch, it's not too far off from the apple picking area. It's not huge by any stretch, but there are plenty of pumpkins to take pictures with and take home. And you don't need a pumpkin picking ticket to get into the pumpkin patch. Definitely a nice little farm to take the family, but I'm sure there are much bigger ones out there. However, if you're not into driving 1+ hours into another county, Demarest is quite close to a lot of the bigger towns in Bergen County.

Yelp
I went pumpkin picking last week with 3 kids they had so much fun and enjoyed the Hayride around the farm, playground area on both sides, the petting zoo. Went back last night for the Halloween Light Show and had so much fun with the music playing along with the ride. Can't wait to go back for the Orchid Light (Christmas).

Wei H.

Yelp
Came here for apple picking. Lots different apples in the farm. Pumpkin patch is nice for kids to pick up their own. They also have a small area for animals. Hay ride on the tractor is pretty fun too!

Stefanie R.

Yelp
Although I love the quaintness of this farm , I think maybe the activities were a bit overpriced for what they were. We went pumpkin picking with the kids and although I didn't know what to expect , it was just a small patch. I had been to patches that were larger and more of an experience but this was just, picking your pumpkin off the floor and paying $12 per pumpkin. Maybe the ones I have been too were just out of the ordinary or maybe this is better for toddlers to experience. The staff isn't overly friendly or anything either. The hayride was okay- very brief but a cute touch. The petting zoo is two goats that you pay to feee which was not my understanding when buying the admission tickets. Overall not super impressed. Even the market was pretty small. Best thing was the delicious apple cider!

Paul T.

Yelp
A little bit disorganized. They make you buy time slots online in advanced then I foundbout you can buy entry tickets when you arrive. And then I got 2pm entry and I arrived at 1245 and the line was so long to get in. (The plus is they had a great line of workers organizing the cars finding parking spots). And then they asked us if we had advanced tickets and gave us our bags and let us in. I'll chalk this up to them being so busy and not really having a way to hold people back from entry. It worked out for me because the rest of my friends arrived just after 1 as well so we had more time to walk the fields before the rain came. Go early! And by early I mean September 1st. There were so few apples to easily grab. Most of the apples had fallen or were picked from the lower levels, we needed to do some climbing to get some apples. But they need to take a acpuple of ways around and clear up some apples because the smell of rotting apples is not very appealing.

Janice F.

Yelp
Went with my family the weekend after Halloween and the farm was pretty empty which to me is not at all a bad thing. Getting from the main road to the pumpkin patch was a little confusing but once we got to the entrance there were plenty of workers to guide us through and directed us with in the parking lot. Very organized and courteous. The pumpkin patch was small compared to the ones I've been to out in Long Island but I feel like the pumpkins from this farm are better. I love the cute little houses located just inside the pumpkin patch, the kids loved playing in them and they were cute for pictures. There were a few "face in the hole boards" that were great for pictures too. There's a little stand between the pumpkin patch and the animal pen that sold crackers for the animals. The animals were cute and very eager to nibble the crackers out of my kids' hands. After about 5minutes with the animals, we went on the hayride which we felt was the best part bc we had the truck to ourselves. I don't know if that's bc it was past the Halloween rush, but either way we prefer no crowds. The perimeter of the truck bed had benches and in the middle were small bales of hay to prop your feet on or for little kids to sit on. After the ride the driver was kind enough to shut the engine and let my kids sit in the driver seat. My son(almost 3yo) lit up and did not hesitate to grab the wheel and pretend to drive. Even my daughter(9.5yo) was all smiles. Before leaving we stopped by the market which was busier than the pumpkin patch. It was a cute market that had a lot of products. There even was a deli counter that made sandwiches & salads to order. Everything looked delicious but was quite pricey, which if you think about it, how often are you going to go to a farms market to buy pies and donuts? The main reason for my going though, was to get apple cider donuts. The donuts came in two options: cinnamon sugar coated or powdered sugar coated and were packaged in sets of 5 and 10, stacked up on this massive table. Every so often someone from the back would come out with a couple packs of freshly made donuts. I also got a jar of raspberry preserves and a s'mores chocolate chip cookie(my daughter LOVED it). Just outside the market was a playground for kids. It looked cute but we didn't have time to let the kids play. Over all, we all enjoyed our time at the farm. My family and I live out in Queens and only came to this farm bc I have relatives that live close to the farm. We would definitely come again but maybe we'll try for apple picking.

Sharon D.

Yelp
Went for some honey and decided to get some lunch. They have a salad bar / prepackaged wraps and a small entree selection, all freshly made and an amazing baked goods selection. The mac & cheese was delicious and had a bit of a kick to it. The prices are high but you cannot beat the freshness and quality. The apple cider donuts are sublime. The coffee wasn't the greatest and I threw 90% of it away. It would be nice if they served hot cider. You can sit outside at picnic tables and the scenery is great. Not too crowded, lots of families with young children. The petting zoo is awesome and free. If you want to feed the animals they sell the crackers inside, 2/$2. I don't have the heart to have baby goats and little pigs rush up to me and not have something to give them lol. Really nice outing and the animals are a real treat and so sweet.

Yelp
Beyond rotting fruit on trees and barely any edible fruit to pick. My main goal of writing this review is the horrible conditions for the animals in the petting zoo. There was zero staff tending these poor animals who are overcrowded into a small area and literally fighting for food. They were in horrible conditions. The horror of a miniature pig squealing in pain as it was attacked by a goat over an apple that an unattended child threw into the pen completely traumatized my daughter. People were feeding the animals crackers that were sold by staff which I am sure were not proper food for these poor animals. We left completely upset and plan to file a complaint with the ASPCA.

Yelp
I'm in New Jersey, it's 80 degrees, it's October, what else is there to do? Obviously gotta hit up an apple and pumpkin farm in my flannel, wait in an incredibly long line and sweat up a storm in my flannel. Demarest is definitely a great pick and is the lesser of some evils as far as waiting and parking in the area. My boyfriend came around 3pm on a Saturday and found parking very easily. We waited in line to get into the market for about 5 minutes and waited to pay for about 10 minutes. It's really not that bad considering some of the other farms in the area. The staff was friendly, helpful and definitely overworked. They were pumping customers outta there pretty quickly. The line was literally wrapped around the store. That did make it a little easier to go over all the goodies one more time. The pies - forget about it. So delicious, so many flavors, so good. The baked goods, fresh sandwiches, soups, sauces, popcorn, cookies, the list goes on and on. I decided on a crumble apple pie - so good, chocolate chip cookies that were perfectly moist and soft, crisp apple cider, powdered apple cider donuts, a candied apple and some honey. The donuts were fresh, they did lack a little apple flavor but it's still a perfectly fresh and tasty donut. The candied apple was perfect, the cookies were probably my favorite. They also have a beautiful set up for kids to play and take pictures, a ton of pumpkins for sale and just overall a nice setup for any age to enjoy. The store is also open year round with a break from end of December till April. Good to know, I'll be back for holidays for more goodies!

Yelp
They know they're the only apple picking in town. They suck. The trees are picked dry. There's a handful of apples at the tops of trees, but you have to pay extra for the equipment. They bang you for $7 a person, even for kids 2-4 years old and if you want a bag for apples, its another $15. Getting in and parking in chaos. It's worse than a Yankee game. Getting out is even better as you are forced into insanely tight mud ridden parking spots. The petting zoo is squeezed in next to the "play ground" (hah) and the hut where you pay for extras, so its crowded insanity. The pumpkin picking patch is nice and spaced out off to the side with a few good generic photo ops. You also get a complimentary ride on a truck if you like that takes you around the farm. Again, the apple orchard is a picked dry shambles. So you are acutally paying to wander around someone's large back yard where you can pick up some garbage that has fallen to the ground. hey have at it. Better to go to shop rite, buy 2 pounds of apples and do an easter egg hunt in your back yard.

Yelp
I came here to do a wine tasting with the girls. When I arrived they guided us to parking. I walked in and found my group. The place had a market and the wine tasting areas. I liked all but one. The workers were so nice and gave us a good overview. I liked a lot of the wines but I just wish there were more vendors. All in all we had a good time.

Yelp
Purchased apple picking tickets online for $7 pp, then had to pay for a bag to contain such apples $15 per bag. When you arrive you drive to park near the Apple trees. You then must rent apple picking equipment if you intend to pick apples from the top of the trees because the bottom of the trees are picked bare or have all fallen to the ground from people trying to reach the top of the tree. If you don't rent the poles you end up picking only the smaller apples or from off the floor. Here's a tip, offer ladders or equipment for free. After the admission and bag fee you want your customers to have a nice experience, not one of feeling ripped off. You can feed the animals with the purchase of a large cracker -$1 a cracker. Don't bother feeding them by the orchards they won't eat cause they are being fed apples and won't even bother with your cracker. The animals at the store will eat your cracker. The best thing about this place is probably the store. Free to park, free to enjoy the photo ops, free playground for the kids. They offer a selection of baked goods and cooked foods with tables outside to enjoy it all the best for me was the Apple cider donuts and apple cider.

Yelp
Always love coming to this farm. This year was a different experience. They now have you drive up the to the orchard and park by the trees. They have also moved the petting zoo and playground to up by the orchards too. They still have a hayride, but it takes you in a circle around the orchard (without any stops). I love this new method they are running opposed to how they used to where you had to park near the market and walk across the street to grab the hayride. After apple picking we were able to drive back down and go to the market for some fresh apple cider donuts and apple cider juice.

Yelp
I came here to pick peaches on a Saturday morning and it was surprisingly not crowded at all. There was ample parking available and we were in and out of there in just over an hour. The peaches were pretty good quality that day and it took us no time to fill our bags. I also really liked their farm store. It has a wide variety of local produce and homemade goods. There is also a playground and petting zoo area for the kids.

Yelp
We love their orchard of lights and wine events here. The Santa they use for the holiday season is so in character two years now my kids photos were so cute! Great donuts and other precooked meals come in handy for regular folks, not much in the way of gluten free options here but that's ok. I def recommend doing the orchard of lights and then wait in line for Santa pics. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Went to see the Christmas lights last night. it was very organized but there were way too many cars for each time slot booked. We had a 7:30pm reservation, we got on line at 7:25. We sat there with about 100 other cars for 40 minutes before we could go. This was very hard to do with kids sitting in the car. In that time we had to do bathroom runs, snack runs etc. Next year I hope they will consider taking less reservations for each time slot. Lights were very good though.

Yelp
I thought there wouldn't be many apples left this late in the season, but there was plenty to go around. The only downside was the busy traffic and long lines for parking

Yelp
The best! Their salad bar is by far the best around. They make all their baked goods fresh daily. They have the best pies! Everyone is nice and helpful. They also offer fresh produce, hot food and to go meals.

Yelp
My family and I enjoy going to Demarest Farms. After reading all of the terrible reviews I guess we just seem to luck out every time we go. To be honest, we've never done the apple picking or pumpkin picking and it seems like we are not missing out on anything. We usually hit up Demarest Farms later in the afternoon, probably when things are slowing down. We always find parking in the farm store parking lot. My kids love the little playground next to the store. It has a wooden train to climb on and a little play structure with slides. Around Halloween they have different cutouts you can pose next to or put your head through to take pictures. They have a VERY small area where you can feed some goats and pigs. The bathrooms they have there are also a step up from a porta potty. It's bigger and there is actually a sink with soap and water. The farm store is tiny and can get pretty crowded with long lines. I agree with the other reviews, the employees there can be pretty rude and miserable. I'm sure it can get pretty stressful and loud with all those people in the store, but you don't have to take it out on us! The food is really good for the most part. I enjoy their cider donuts and cider. I also had a delicious salad from there. Their baked goods are delicious - I've have a whole wheat peach muffin and a whole wheat apple muffin. Cookies are good! Key lime pie square was also delicious. The one thing I didn't like were their potato pancakes. Pretty dry. Overall, my family and I have a good time at Demarest Farms. It is the one farm that is nice and close to us.

Yelp
Not really anything to review, I suppose you could purchase flowers or mulch but the market was closed, nothing was open. I took the ride hoping to get peaches but didn't know that peach season officially begins in July :-(( Was a nice hot day, enjoyed the ride, back roads in Bergen County

Yelp
Okay, I just found out that a local orchard in upstate NY where I am is charging $24 for a half bushel bag with no time restrictions. I thought that what we paid here was expensive, but it's actually more ridiculously so than I imagined. We ended up paying $38 for our horrible rushed one hour experience for two pecks, which is equivalent to a half bushel! They (the other orchard) also clearly list the apples that will be in season and available on their website. When I tried to call Demarest for the varieties no one even picked up. I understand that northern NJ doesn't have many apple orchards to choose from, so they have a monopoly, but this is just insane. This experience was not managed well at all, and we should have just waited one more weekend to go apple picking up here (I probably will go again, because I did not leave satisfied).

Yelp
Oh so busy, so popular, so crowded... I came for apple cider donuts. It's baked fresh in the vicinity, but never warm. And though, it was better than Alstede's, Carpe Donuts were still better(which is now permanently closed-sadly). But, but... their own Demarest Apple Onion vinaigrette is amazing! They also have different jams, but I'm loyal to Bonne Maman. And homemade apple sauce, various fruits and vegetable, hays, pumpkins that are all overpriced, but that's expected. I will search on a good apple cider donuts.

Yelp
I am not sure when this farm opened its gates for the apple orchard, but most of the trees have barely any apples left in them. Most have fallen on the ground. My favorite apple is honey crisp and those trees are very small and had not a single apple on the tree to pick. Even though there are timed entry tickets, the farm is packed with people. I found many of the apples to be dented or damaged, very few were good looking overall. The market had a line outside and the inside was very busy with a winding line for check out. The apple cider donuts were really good, but they are selling them in prepackaged packs only due to covid. The potato latkes are very bland, would not buy again. The apple cranberry chutney they sell at the market is great. Was not impressed with the farm much.

Yelp
I went here on the last Saturday of September, what I thought was "early" at 10am and main entrance lot was full! There were signs to drive for alternate parking that led us about 2 miles away -_- the lot was empty early this time & had school buses in queue to transport us apple picking enthusiasts. Kinda of a longer drive to arrive at the entrance since the bus has to u-turn in residential streets. You get dropped off and have to walk to the barn. Tables empty outside and donuts on full stock inside the barn! They're all delectably lined up & are totally instagram-able! Buttt I crave hot fresh donuts LITERALLY off the rack. They're pretty soggy by then time you eat them. Still addicting tho... but if you leave the leftovers open to air overnight, they become quickly hardened & stale. Admission is $7 and the apple bags for $12 was not a generously big bag. Not worth the cost, but kinda fortells how small the orchard is. The line was long to get on the tractors about a 15-20min wait, unless you get on line early in the day. What was upsetting was that since it's a local urban apple orchard, by this time of the season, there are pretty few apple varieties left. If you take a look at the sign, I denoted that literally more than 75% of the orchard was picked. We only got the brunt of the apples which were rome, little bits of mac, red delicious and sour greens. Not sure if I'll apple pick, but would like to stop by for some fresh donuts.

Yelp
Would like to give 0 stars. Went for Orchard Light with an 8pm reservation. Showed up early, and as of 8:30pm sitting in a queue area with tons of cars and screaming kids. S'mores were stale and hot chocolate was watered down. What's the point of a reservation? It's now been over an hour with reservation- no lights in sight.

Yelp
Directions were confusing. A few of us walked over from the parking across the street because the address they gave to meet at was the store. They need to update the website.
