Demeter Cave House, Pyrgos, Santorini, Greece - Explore & Book

"If you're looking for a chic little hideaway - as we constantly are! - on Greece's most spectacular and popular island, then you can't beat this deliciously styled, semi-subterranean home for two. Tucked away in the lovely white-washed village of Pyrgos (our favourite), next to the chapel of Agios Demetrios (hence the name), it's got everything a couple needs for a short (or long) break. There's a lofty living area with kitchenette, a tiny private courtyard with plunge pool, and a super comfy double bedroom with ensuite bathroom burrowed into the tufa hillside. The one thing it lacks are those caldera-edge views; but what bliss to escape the selfie-snapping crowds and retreat to your stylish little sanctuary. And you can climb up onto your pueblo-style roof terrace, glass of chilled wine in hand, to enjoy the same spectacular sunsets, as well as wonderful vistas over the whole island. The village - largely car-free - is worth exploring: churches and cafes, a crumbling castle at the top of the hill, and several tavernas serving authentic Greek fare in case you don't feel like cooking. It's a short drive to the black sand beaches of the east coast, or to the bars and boutiques of Fira, with its cable car down to the harbour for boat trips to lava islands and hot springs. Santorini is truly a unique and photogenic spot, and this is our favourite hideaway on the island. When you consider all this, it's amazing value for money - especially for Santorini Lows You're not on the caldera edge but inland, a short drive from those classic plunging sea-and-cliff views This is an adult-only hideaway; kids stay home for this one Be aware that the island as a whole gets more than its fair share of tourists, with commensurate prices The hot tub doesn't have a sea view, but it is super private and not overlooked (a rarity in Santorini)" - Michael Cullen

OMG, the house is so so cute, with the most amazing roof terrace, overlooking a small church. The courtyard and hot tub is perfect, and the bathroom, where to begin, its something else. I absolutely loved my stay, and Pyrgos is just the most authentic and quaint little village, where you can move without being knocked over by selfie sticks, and yet, you are close to Fira and Several beaches. Andrew is the greatest hosts, ready to answer any question you have, and welcomes you with so much warmth, you feel like part of the family ..honestly I can only recommend <3

My stay at Demeter Cave House was absolutely incredible! From the moment I arrive, I was welcomed with warm hospitality and thoughtful touches that made the experience feel like home. The space is spotless, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything I could possibly need. The attention to detail is truly unmatched—little touches like a welcome bottle of Santorini wine and local recommendations made all the difference. The Cave House boasts both luxury and uniqueness and is exactly as it appears in the photos and description (even better if that’s possible). The private patio with jacuzzi and the rooftop terrace- with views of the Aegean Sea- make this already dreamlike location unparalleled in its offerings. The location is perfect. Pyrgos is just minutes from other popular Santorini destinations yet maintains a quiet and peaceful atmosphere for restful evenings. I spent most of my days exploring the village’s own top-notch restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and shops. What really stood out, though, was Andrew’s dedication to making my stay exceptional. Communication was seamless, with quick responses and helpful suggestions throughout. Andrew went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I have never experienced such excellence, kindness, and authenticity in a host in all my years of travel. I honestly can’t say enough about Andrew; he thought of everything… from scheduling cars to and from the airport to arranging the most perfect breakfast delivery. Rest assured, you will have no worries when you are in his care. This was easily the best stay at any Airbnb, hotel, or resort I have ever had, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. I am in awe of Demeter Cave House; it and its amazing host will remain in my heart forever.

We were lucky enough to stay here for our honeymoon. The place was like something off a postcard, very beautiful and just so well put together. The decor was sublime, the location was spot on, the breakfasts were unreal, the hot tub Devine! It was just a spectacular place to stay. The best part of the whole stay was getting to meet Andrew and Marcel, we stayed back in September and we still think about them and how lovely and accommodating they were. Very special people and a huge bonus to our honeymoon spending time with them. we’ll be back!!

This charming cave house is amazing! It's beautiful, spotlessly clean, and has a private courtyard, hot tub, and rooftop deck. The bathroom with couples rain shower is a major feature. The location in Pyrgos can't be beat - so close to numerous great restaurants and overlooks. Easily walkable to the main square, but just far enough to feel quiet and private. But the true magic of the Demeter Cave House is the host, Andrew! He met us at the square and escorted us to the house, showed us all the features, and was always responsive to any message. He knows Santorini extremely well and gave us recommendations for dining, transportation, and activities. He even made several reservations for us, getting us absolutely amazing tables at restaurants with stunning sunset views. The little touches around the cave house and his kind attention really made the stay special! We didn't want to leave and cannot recommend the Demeter Cave House (and Andrew) enough! Thank you Andrew!

The Demeter Cave House is spacious, stylish and spotlessly clean with the most comfortable bed, amazing bathroom with double shower, and a rooftop terrace with the best sun loungers and chairs. This place is a real gem and we feel privileged to have stayed there for a week. Our holiday gave us a chance to relax and rejuvenate with excellent restaurants nearby. The central position of Pyrgos was perfect for visiting the whole island - a car is recommended. It is wonderful to be away from the crowds in this beautiful village and to have a more authentic Greek experience. Andrew is the perfect host and goes above and beyond to give advise, make reservations and is there to make sure everything goes smoothly. He is helpful without being intrusive at all and his sense of humour is delightful! All in all, the Demeter Cave House is a fabulous place to stay - we highly recommend it!

Demeter Cave House is just amazing! The interior design, the very clean jacuzzi, the bathroom, the light concept and the lots of lovely local details! Andrew is such a nice person and the perfect host. He cares about everything and gives you a very safe feeling that someone looks after you on a foreign place. It feels like home! Pyrgos is a perfect place to stay in Santorini… wonderful, central, peaceful, authentic and with very good restaurants! You feel like an inhabitant not like a tourist. We are very sad to leave back to Germany and would give more than 5 stars!

We loved our stay here in beautiful Pyrgos! The Demeter Cave House is the most beautiful place we’ve stayed at and every corner of it looks amazing. The jacuzzi is perfect at night since it’s heated and the couple’s rainshowers are a dream! Another highlight is the marshall sound system, which we really enjoyed. You have everything you need, like bottled water, an iron, beach towels, a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and so on.. The host, Andrew, is very helpful and we loved every recommendation he gave us. Next time we visit Santorini we will definitely stay here again, everything was perfect!
