Our overall experience at this hotel was confusing and stressful, due to the lack of guidance and support from the staff. On arrival, we were handed a packet with information, but it was not easy to find a staff member to talk to, and the lines at the front desk were extremely long. The luggage service was particularly stressful. The bags were due out by 7:00 AM on departure day, and at 6:59 AM, the porter knocked on our door for a bag count. He counted our bags, and I asked for 5 more minutes to get the bags out, but he sternly insisted we only had 1 minute left. Rushed, I quickly closed the bags and put them outside at 7:00, only to find him already walking away, counting other bags in the hallway and upstairs. Our bags, along with all the others, were left sitting outside the doors. While I understand the importance of sticking to a schedule, it was completely unnecessary to create such stress. When we left our room at 7:30, the bags were still in the hallway, making his unfriendly attitude and sense of urgency feel entirely unjustified. Guests should be encouraged to relax and they should know that the staff is there to help. On a positive note, the restaurant staff at the lodge were excellent—attentive, polite, and genuinely helpful, which provided some relief from the otherwise frustrating experience. I would recommend avoiding this mass-hording hotel and opting for a more personal and welcoming experience elsewhere.

The largest of the Princess Lodges. We enjoyed our stay here. Having places that sell food across the road from the lodge was nice. Lots of little stores here too to shop for souvenirs. Hotel style rooms are not as good at the Kenai Lodge. The lodge was great to meet up at and play cards with our friends.

Wasn’t of the quality I’d expect. No fridge or microwave. Room was 2 beds, TV, 2 chairs and loveseat. Had to go downstairs for more linens. Climate system didn’t work well. However, the transportation system was good. Property shuttle. Shuttle to railroad and bus depot. National park shuttle. Shuttles for most activities came to the lodge. Customer service was poor. Had to ask several different people what to do on last day of our stay. We booked through Alaska Travel and not as part of the cruise package

We want to thank Cheryl and Juliana for taking care of our accommodations, they were very thoughtful and considerate of our needs. Both of these ladies went above and beyond to help us and were very gracious. I would recommend staying at this lodge just because of their kindness. Also the food at the Alpenglow was delicious and our servers also were considerate.

Everything was excellent. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Beds are wonderful. Bathrooms clean and spacious.|People are smiling and very helpful. In front office everyone is par excellence. Christopher was very nice.|We ate at 2 restaurants. Grizzly Burger and Lynx- Pizza place. Both were very very good. Everything outstanding.

The lodge was on the main road with some shops across the road. We could find decent Thai vegetarian food there. The rooms were clean and the lodge provided bus tours for nearby places

We like the scenery and the convenience of getting around to the restaurants and the shops. We were part of the princess cruise group and Denali was the second stop for land excursions. Hotel was so crowded in the lobby. Room is so basic. Service was ok if you needed anything you just had to text them. Overall we were enjoyed 2 nights at Denali.

This was a HORRIBLE hotel experience from beginning to end. After calling 3 times to communicate our delayed arrival due to airline delays and then renting car and driving, we arrived at 11:00 p.m. at night. We had 4 rooms for family traveling together. One of the rooms was so dirty and ransacked, food on tables, beds more than slept in, trash all over so we had to go back to front desk and request new room. Moved to a new room and the sink could not drain. I asked for some kind of compensation after being charged $535.00 per night for room. The supervisor wouldn't even come out to see me. I finally got a voucher for one breakfast. SAD! When we went to check out, my husband came to pick up my handicapped and elderly 82 year old aunt and uncle. The transportation supervisor, Derrik told him he had to park in the parking lot. We explained they couldn't walk that far and they were waiting at the door, it would take less than 5 minutes and there were NO busses there. He was more than rude and one of his female employees told us "Go cry me a river" when we asked for some empathy. The management was just horrible here. Then the charge of $535.00 for a 1987 dated and old room that was so dirty and past its prime was RIDICULOUS! DON'T STAY HERE! They do not care about guests, customer service or the fact that tourists pay their living.

Yelp
When you walk in the the main lobby, it's like, "Wow! This place is AWESOME!". I never stopped having that feeling there. In our room, not so much. Somehow we managed to be there when it was hot; the overnight low was 75 degrees F. We kept the window open, but it was too hot for good sleep. No A/C, no fan. I laid on top of the sheets. The bathroom had a typical tub/shower, and it didn't drain worth a sh*t. I was always standing in several inches of water at the end a shower. Otherwise, two thumbs up. There are really nice outdoor areas with spectacular views to have a drink with your mate in the evening. We also enjoyed having a range of restaurants to choose from, all of which serve good food in a nice-but-not-pretentious environment.

Yelp
Well welcome to the largest hotel in the state of Alaska! This hotel is massive and has a lot of pros and cons. Pros: 1. The logistics of handling getting cruise passengers around is beyond impressive. 2. Being able to arrive for a cruise tour and not have to visit the front desk is a win. 3. Incredible views of the mountains. 4. Legit sits at the gate of Denali National Park. 5. Free shuttle to Denali National Park. Cons: 1. While the logistics are impressive, they struggle with speed. I had a chirping fire alarm. Something that only needed new batteries. Easy to fix in less than 5 minutes. How long did it take? 7 hours. Yes 7. I had to call three times and they said it was marked as completed even though it was never fixed. 2. All the food is extremely expensive. Average meal will be $30+ per person. 3. The service is very lackluster. They don't want to be there and show it in their work ethic. Overall I'd return here because of its location. The service just needs a lot of fixing.

Yelp
Summary: Princess Cruise you can do better! Our room was super tiny in building B room 102. The lodge has a lot more to see and the view is spectacular, however hearing doors slamming throughout the night and have a cramped room made the experience less than pleasant. Check in: Room keys provided with our princess land tour packet making it effortless Cleanliness: Average. A few hair strands in the bed and bathroom. Service: Below average. Trying to call for assistance in a restaurant reservation was a lot harder than expected. The shuttle drivers were awesome and friedmlyl Amenities: Free coffee maker in room. shuttle to take you around the property. Bathroom: Poor. The shower head was terrible with barely any water pressure. There was a heat lamp you could turn on to make it more pleasant after a shower Room: Terrible. Our room was a corner room with the layout causing the room to be shorter than the room next door. For a family of four we did not have enough room to put out our luggage. My parents who had a room 4 doors down was a lot bigger and luxurious. I was also told that our rooms were likely newer than the ones closer to the lodge. Bedding: Great mattress and pillows. You will sleep well Noise: Terrible. Our room was close to the end of the hall. Throughout the night we could hear doors opening and slamming shut. Other tips: There is a lot to see around the property. There are a few restaurants on site and you can view the menus of each by scanning the QR code from your welcome packet. Free internet location shuttle to get around easily. If you want to visit gift shops and other food choices, walk across the street.

Yelp
Late post Aug 23' Denali Lodge was huge and there was actually more to do here then at McKinley Lodge. It was nice to get a break (meaning it was a 2 night stay rather than 1). First off, not having safes in the room was a bit odd since majority of guests were either going or coming from a cruise, in that case people bring important documents, cash, jewelry etc stuff they don't want to lose or feel compelled to carry on them. Our first night there, I noticed an odd smell on my sheets, a perfume that I nor my partner wear. It was 9pm we were very tired from all the traveling but needed to get this fixed promptly, called the front desk explained the issue and they came right away to change the sheets. (Problem 1) The next day, It wasn't till we boarded our bus for the national park, I texted the front desk and requested no service in our room, (mostly because there was no safe) when we got back, we noticed that our room was serviced. (Problem 2) This was very upsetting because we didn't want anyone in our room and we didn't need the service since our stay was less than 2 days. We spoke with a manager and thankfully he understood our situation and worked out a great solution. Just as Mt. Mckinley, I would suggest 4 days 3 nights to get to see and do things. The restaurants were so much better than those at McKinley lodge. Fanny Q's Saloon (Reviewed) King Salmon Restaurant (Reviewed) Lynx Creek Pizza and Pub (Reviewed) Grizzly Burger Coffee Spot (reviewed) Overall, this rating/review was based on a rectified solution....

Yelp
"Rocket through the wilderness around the world the trip begins with a kiss" (The B-52's) Who knew that Princess Cruise Lines was in the hotel business? I sure didn't. We stayed in the second of two Princess branded hotel complexes in Alaska when we stayed at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. The hotel and its grounds are stunning. First of all, the scenery surrounding the property is jaw droppingly magnificent. Mountains are everywhere, including some great views of Denali. The hotel rooms are spread out among many buildings intermixed with retail stores and restaurants. Everything is prettty much easily acessible for all, but might be a bit if a challenge for those with mobility issues. The big lodge building contains the hotel registration desk, a coffee shop, a gift shop and common spaces. Our room was somewhat smaller than the one we had at the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, and like that one, Princess Denali had no wifi and no air conditioning. It was a noisy room, with lots of traffic and general conversation noise. Also, the TV reception was heavy on pixilation and poor in quality. The bathroom was decidedly smaller than the Wilderness version. The location is great- super close to Denali and related attractions and across the street from a big shopping plaza.

Yelp
Believe it or not, all I needed was a bandaid for my Granddaughter's foot - no big deal or so I thought. I went to the lodge, front desk and asked for a courtesy bandaid."no problem" they said "but you'll have to fill out the incident 3 page report before we can give you that, new Corporate policy." Really???? So if I needed a cotton ball, they would gladly give me that they said. If I forgot my toothbrush, it wouldn't be a problem at all and would gladly supply one. BUT THE BANDAID for a toddler had to have a 3 page Form filled out!! Absolutely ludicrous! I said please give me the form and I will fill it out. They couldn't find one for me. SOOOO frustrating! When did we get so scared as a society of erring on so much caution as to not get ourselves in legal trouble that we lost sight on helping each other. A very kind woman in the gift shop which is where I was instructed to go so that I could buy a bandaid for my toddler helped us out. I would never do business with this lodge again. Get real Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge! You've lost sight of reality!

Yelp
I can't believe there's not a single review for this wilderness lodge?!? Guess I'll be first! This was the 2nd lodge we stayed in...a multi-lodge prelude to our Alaskan cruise. Unlike my aversion to Mt. McKinley Wilderness Lodge, I really liked this lodge community. First of all, this lodge community was really picturesque...as if it's some place you'd find in Vail, Colorado...or even some place in Switzerland? Think the dramatic colors of the buildings and the housing units really added some impact. However, like the Mt. McKinley Wilderness Lodge, the rooms didn't have any A/C, internet, shampoo/conditioner or hair dryer. The rooms were small, but had a classic lodge decor. VERY noisy though! Unlike the Mt. McKinley Wilderness Lodge facilities, this community was well landscaped...and looked more modern, although there were some dated parts. Last but not least, this community featured an AMAZING overlook of the Nenana River...simply breathtaking!! Overall, a much cuter lodge. The place also had more, better restaurants...though typically American menus. Despite some lackings in creature comforts (A/C, internet, and sound buffer/control??), I wished I could have stayed longer here. I can tell that the place was hit hard by Covid (some restaurants closed down, for instance), but I'm thinking that it'll make a full comeback.

Yelp
The Denali lodge is like a small village. You check in at the front desk and take the stairs (or lift) down one level to go find your room. There are several buildings around the property, where the only way to get to your room is by stairs. For those with mobility issues, there is a building that the doors open to the interior with a lift. The staff were friendly and curteous. Our bags arrived at our door almost right after we did. There are lots of dining options, and a regular shuttle to and from the park.

Yelp
After reading the negative reviews I felt compelled to review our stay. We left Fairbanks and arrived at the Denali Princess Wilderness lodge on a Princess bus. A Princess host came on our bus and handed everyone a welcome pack containing our keys and information about our excursions and map. We didn't have to check in. We went straight to our room where our luggage was waiting for us. It couldn't have been easier. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The views were amazing. A great experience.

Yelp
It didn't start out too well as we pulled into the roundabout that fronts the lobby to go do our check-in and were immediately told we couldn't park there. Since it's pretty standard practice to temporarily leave your car in front of the hotel while you check in, we were surprised, but fine, my husband went and parked the car in the lot and we dragged all of our luggage into the lobby. What really got us annoyed was when they wouldn't let him pull up in front to just pick us all up again after check-in when we found out our rooms were several buildings away- including my disabled in-laws. There was a huge open driveway and he wasn't even allowed to stop for 30 seconds and let them get in the car and load the luggage? Very weird, and not very ADA compliant. But the lobby was beautiful, and the person who checked us in was really nice. It's like that with everything at this place - like there is a flip side to every good thing. The lodge itself offers a lot of restaurants, coffee bars, gift shops, BUT they were all overpriced and not the highest quality. The grandness of the reception area (and the price of the rooms!) say "luxury" but the rooms are basic motel level. My husband pointed out that the fancy "woodwork" on the walls was just stained plywood and 1x2 (hey! we used the same approach in our outdoor room!) There are no mini-fridges or microwaves in the room (sorry, for $300+night I consider those basic amenities. We stayed in a virtual meth den of a hotel in Anchorage, and THAT room had a mini-fridge). They don't offer housekeeping with the claim that this is due to their commitment to being eco-friendly which seems great, but I suspect it's more about keeping costs down as this place is HUGE. We booked 2 rooms for 3 days, and every.single.day - sometimes multiple times a day - multiple key cards would fail. The staff person who came to fix it was very helpful and really went out of his way, which was great, but...why was this happening? My in-laws had a horrible noise coming from the heating unit and we had to have engineering come- took a couple people several hours to fix it - again, super nice people, but c'mon, I paid $1800 for these rooms! My worst moment came when I tried to use the laundry and it wouldn't accept real money. You had to download an app and enter your credit card, which I very much did not like doing, but to make matters worse the laundry was in the basement so there was no wifi. I had to go back upstairs, download the app, get my credit card, enter everything in, then run back down and enter the numbers off the machines (I am fuming at this point) then go back upstairs to upload the numbers then back down to start the machines. Are you kidding me?!?!? And for this, the laundry app charged me a 35cent "convenience fee". I was glad to have access to laundry, but it was super frustrating to use it. See what I mean about flip side for everything? I think this is all represented best by the location: It's 3 minutes from the Park entrance, and it's GORGEOUS. Like I cannot overstate how epic the scenery is. The whole lodge is situated on a high bank overlooking the river and any time of day or night, your can sit outside along one of the many viewing areas and take in an absolutely drop-dead view. Oh, but speaking of drop-dead, the flip side: it would appear that a good portion of the property (A-building, where we were housed, particularly) is sliding into that very river. There were clear indications that the building itself was being adjusted at the foundations (which was covered with pretty rocks, lol!) and there were cracks EVERYWHERE. Are there engineers regularly checking this place for safety?!

S S.

Yelp
We arrived today to our room smellling like rotten fruit, which housekeeping must have known, because our door was the only one propped open. The room is not what we had in years past, the stairs are taking a toll on my leg, which has pins and screws. So unhappy, our honeymoon is getting off to a bad start. We asked to upgrade room and was told we could if were handicapped but nothing they could do. So disappointed, but I'm with my new husband and we will try to make the most of it. Can't say that we will ever stay here again. going to be a long stay, still hoping they can make things better

Darryl N.

Yelp
This is a basic hotel bordering the national park that is usually part of a Princess Cruise tour package but can also be a hotel. They have many tourist type shops and several decent restaurants on site. There are also activities that you can sign up for and buses will pick you up to go places. The whole point of being here is to see Denali NP so you need to use this as a stopping point to get to the park. They have free shuttles running into the park until 6:30pm (check schedules) The rooms have the basic needs of bed, individual temp control, bath with shower and bath, TV and hair dryer. The rooms will need remodel soon, but the exterior looks good. The hair dryer didn't work, the coffee maker lacked supplies and the TV had only 8 out of 12 channels working. BUT they use a text message system for getting service which was great! I just text and the issues was solved. Even if I was away, I texted to find out bus schedule info and they responded quick. (FYI coffee is enough to start you but not great) There is no daily room prep like a cruise ship, unless requested. Which can be a let down after coming off a cruise. Food is also not included and is at your own expense. Gift shops are decent, and can have some deals (mainly jackets), but I would cross the street at least and visit shops and restaurants.

Wendy F.

Yelp
This is a stop for our land portion of a cruise booked through princess cruises. The room was super small, half ready at 6 pm, and overall pretty dirty. Dust was everywhere and the carpet was dingy and worn. There were no towels in our room nor paper cups to make coffee in the room. The main lodge was fairly nice with two large fireplaces but furniture and carpet were dingy and worn. The coffee shop was not well laid out and it took about 30 minutes to get a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll. The tables in the coffee shop area were filthy. There were some really nice shops that were running pretty good end of the season sales.

Mary O.

Yelp
It is extremely basic for the price. It was clean & neat and that's it. No AC so it was warm in the room. There is very little lighting (and it's poorly done) in the room. We like to read and that was difficult. We only did it for one night to be close for the tour of Denali the next morning. It was very okay.

Yelp
Denali Princess Cruise & Land Package at the Wilder Lodge. Fantastic package, a must do if you want to see Alaska

Kent C.

Yelp
Sorry to put it this way, but this place sucks. Reminds me of Lampoon vacation. Our room was smaller and far less pleasant than an average dorm room. The view was of the stairs at the end of a building across the alley. Food prices are a joke. I felt so depressed upon entering the room and could not believe we were stuck there for 2 nights. It could still give me a nightmare after being away from this place for almost a month. Never again and I will never let any friend of mine stay there either. Overpriced money grab!

Diane G.

Yelp
Awful experience! The most unhelpful staff I have ever interacted with. Our party of seven was linked together as a group way before departure only to be assigned rooms in different buildings, our excursions times reassigned randomly, so we were never at the same place, at the same time. Whenever we asked the staff for help, their answer was alway, "There's nothing we can do." Whatever model of customer service Princess ascribes to, Customer Satisfaction is most definitely NOT their priority! The staff of Princess Cruise Line act as if their jobs would be great, if only they didn't have customers, forgetting that, without customers, they wouldn't have jobs.

Izzy S.

Yelp
DONT DO THIS PART OF THE PRINCESS ALASKAN CRUISE. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SKIP THE LAND PART OF PRINCESS CRUISES. BIG LET DOWN. We just left the Princess Sapphire cruise experience, which was 20 out of 10 stars. Amazing incredible warm staff , service, food, ambience etc. the entire package was amazing. Then we do the land part of our trip that includes 3 hotel stays. This has so far been a disappointment. We start off by being herded like cattle from the ship to the bus. We spent 8 hours on the bus getting to Denali lodge. We went from 5 star service to 0. The service workers here are rude. I expected a Princess brand experience with a beautiful cafe with more choices than the 5 sad items that are here in the Denali cafe. It felt like punishment for the indulgence of all the wonderful food on the cruise. There is also no other close option for better coffee. Only this basic cafeteria style cafe in the main lobby. I ordered my coffee and the barista who pumped my coffee from a dispenser, filled 3 cups and left them there for a minute to go talk to her co workers about personal tho ha. A man standing by me had to get her attention so that she can give us our coffees before they got cold. Seriously?! They still have the nerve to request a tip? Which I regretfully gave. Since I was so tired I didn't make the only breakfast buffet in the morning which ends at 9 am. So I made my way to the only decent restaurant here. The KING SALMON. I was going to dine alone. I walked in and was amazed at how beautiful this place was. It was also very empty yet they sat me down in a sad marble "singles" table stuck in a corner. It reminded me of an ihop restaurant table. Yet, there were plenty of beautiful wood tables with 2 chairs by the window. They sat me away from any decent area because I was dining alone. I didn't bother ordering and just walked out. It was just consistent with all the bad experiences since our journey here began. An alarming detail that I feel I need to warn other customers about is the tap water. My boyfriend took photos and will share them with princess. I noticed that the bath water had a light tan hue. I then went to the sink which had better lighting and a white sink. The water was definitely tan in color. Seriously gross. Also, our bathroom ceiling had black mold spots and rust. After a grueling 8 hour bus ride, we check in at 4 pm. We then only have a few hours to eat dinner maybe do some sightseeing. Then you need to check out the next day at 11 am. NO EXCEPTION. Then you need to wait until 2 pm to be herded with 80 more people to the next lodge. They don't even allow you to rest and recover from that 8 hour bus ride. Im so exhausted and tired. We are now waiting for it to be 2 pm so we could be herded to the next lodge. I'm looking forward to just leaving this place. It will forever sour the memory of an amazing cruise experience o. This Alaskan vacation. I wish I knew this before booking our trip. I would have just passed. Now I'm waiting here in the lobby to be herded off to the next stop which is McKinley lodge. I hear that is better. I can only hope. Another thing I'd like to add is the tour busses we had to take to each lodge were an awful experience. The busses hold around 80-100 people. We are all squeezed in to full capacity. The bus drivers were not trained in keeping the people safe from spreading illness. So the busses had no proper air system working. The bus was hot and there wasn't any fresh air circulating. It was a virus incubator. There were people coughing and not wearing masks. I ended up catching Covid. Not from the cruise, because the timeframe all points to these awful tour bus rides. I'm very upset. I feel that Princess needs to do more to keep people safe. Get some air flowing in these dam busses. It's a Petri dish of Covid in there!! People also complained about it being cold after one bus driver put on the air.... After I and another shouted to turn the f***ing air on. I'd rather it be cold with air flowing through than hot, muggy, and human sneezes and coughs circulating the air around me. I would have worn a mask, but I had no clue what to expect on this trip. This land portion threw me off. It seriously ruined my trip experience, and a week later, continued to do so.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Completely unprepared for the unexpected. Forest fire broke out next to the lodge today. No electricity, no running water, no working toilets, only a handful of port-a potties for the whole complex, limited food, no way to charge phones. Refused to provide transportation options out, and still charged us. A facility this size should have emergency plans in place and be able to provide accommodations better than camping in the event of an emergency. Completely unacceptable!

G L.

Yelp
Room Cleanliness is not up to par. Trash debris under bed which means cleaners never looked under the bed. Toilet seat up upon arriving at room and I couldn't tell if someone just used it. Princess can do better

Shelbie C.

Yelp
It's clean and beds decent. Not for mobility challenged people even though aligned with Princess cruise lines. No fridge. So people like us that need to store meds better have cooler bags for the ice. It's a cruise line affiliated place so expect to pay for every. Single. Thing. Full of summer work and travel student workers which means stares when asking for things and intern type knowledge. Amenities are light but does have a nice view of the Nenana river. Parking limited and often far from your room. No help with bags.... Coin operated laundry available. Approx 5$ per load in June 2023.

Brent S.

Yelp
This place is a dive! View of the Highway (promised Mountain View) and we were placed away from most of the resort, which was ok. Wayyyy too many people staying there. Checkin was a nightmare. Not a single positive thing about this place:(

Lisa S.

Yelp
I am shocked by the low rating of this place. We were a party of 3 adults, 2 parents and a daughter. We did not take a cruise. We drove a rental car from Anchorage and stayed 2 nights. The hotel has lots of different buildings for accommodations, restaurants, and shops. For our family, it was expensive. But the location, rooms, and solid restaurants on site made for an excellent trip. Once we parked the car, we didn't get in it again until we were leaving. Denali has an extensive shuttle bus system that picks up here so you don't need to drive into the park. You can access all sorts of hikes and activities and sled dogs by taking the bus. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food and fun at Fanny Q's (onsite restaurant) was great. Pizza at Lynx Canyon (also onsite) was really good, and the prices at the restaurants was what you can expect to pay anywhere. It was really nice not driving around and trying to find food. We also ate breakfast at the Grab "n Go. My one complaint is the coffee in the room is undrinkable. The way the pods go into the coffee maker means sometimes the water drips through without coffee contact so NO flavor. And powdered creamer???? NOOOOOO. Upgrade the coffee makers, and give people shelf stable creamers. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay.

Kevin M.

Yelp
We spent thousands on the trip of a lifetime to Alaska for our family. We have wanted to stay at the Denali Princess Lodge for 30 years (even before the first one burned down). After requesting a river view and offering to pay extra, we were put next to a highway with views of the next building. I understand they can't accommodate everyone but the lack of care for requests is ridiculous (putting us in the very worst positioned building and second to the last room next to the highway, and separating our family into another building). It almost as if they went out of their way to make it the worst after the request. We won't forget it. We will be back to Alaska but won't be staying with Princess.

Yelp
We arrived at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge on Saturday after a tiring 9-hour train ride from Whittier, Alaska following our 7-day cruise. Our concierge raved about the accommodations and the amenities of the lodge. Upon our arrival, we found our room and entered to dust on all the flat surfaces, dirty carpets with pieces of paper and lint not vacuumed, musty smells, and stains on the bedspread. Normally a room like that would be rented in our town for about $45.00 per night. Very poor for Princess standards. The restaurants were nice with nice food options. Due to staffing shortages, a couple of restaurants were closed. The beds were comfortable, but the pillowcases were yellowed. The outdoor fire pit areas were very nice and the staff was friendly.

Yelp
Just outside of the gate to Denali National Park is a complex of buildings and a hotel all built by Princess Cruise lines for the ground portion of their Alaskan tour. As usual on the bus ride here we were given our room keys and itinerary so when we pulled up we go to our room. No handling of luggage as it was delivered to the room. This is the second Princess property we stayed on our ground tour. It was just so beautiful and convenient. While there were not flowers in the flower beds there was a sign saying they will plant in June as it is too cold to plant in May!! Service again was out of this world and what was lacking in civilization ie WiFi was very slow was a function of the location not the hotel.

Yelp
Get out and do stuff! Write positive reviews when you have a great time! They do a good job, considering the staffing and the large number of guests that go through here. We did an on-property dichroic glass class (Denali Glass Class) and made two key chains each. We ate at the King Salmon Restaurant (reservations) and Fannie Q's (standard Princess buffet breakfast). For dinner one night, we went "next door" to the Music of Denali dinner and a show, which was lovely. There's a shuttle around the lodge. We took the Denali Park tour which was great and we saw caribou, moose, sheep, and a bear! The walking paths around the property are well maintained, which is good, because our pants are a bit tight from all the yummy food!

Yelp
For a "sidetrip cruise destination," they do a very good job. The restaurants are acceptable (though nothing special), but the "buzz" to the resort encampment is pleasant, especially for the older crowd.

Yelp
This has to be one of my favorite places I have ever been to. I travel a lot. Our room had the best view of the snowcap mountains and river below. I found myself looking out of the window for a long time. It was like a small town and I enjoyed walking around so much. The restaurants were outstanding. The room was comfortable and clean and just right. Princess does things right! I was very impressed. Great place to stay, I highly recommend it!!!

Yelp
We were only here for one day and the schedule was packed. Prior to arriving at the lodge, customer service met up with our bus to hand out our welcome envelopes (we're on the land/cruise package tour) that had our room key and itinerary. Our room was located in lodge A/B, which was about 400m away but there is a continuous shuttle for anyone who does not want to walk. Despite the wind advisory that made things extra cold, my husband and I opted to walk from our lodge to the main lodge when it came for our excursion(s). Our room was a typical lodge style, clean with a king size bed and...shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There's complimentary coffee in the room as well as information regarding activities, gift stores and restaurants that Denali Princess Lodge offers. Across the street is a small set of stores and cafes. Being that we were the last of the cruise, EVERYTHING was marked down. The excursion activities offered range from bus tours to outdoors. The view from our lodge was breathtaking. The staff was helpful and friendly. And as always, the food was a wee pricey but the service and food was great, so it was worth it. Recommend: Yes (you also have no choice if you're on a set land/cruise tour) Note: If you're looking to do a land/cruise tour, go either in May, August or September especially if you want cool to cold weather (we did since we're from Hawaii)

Yelp
It's a average hotel, nothing fancy, but reasonably maintained. It is a large complex, with several restaurants and shops, and a property shuttle that circulates around the property and over to the McKinley Chalet Resort, which also has several restaurants and shops. The hotel runs a shuttle to Denali park every half hour, which is super convenient and the Wilderness Bus Tour and the Park Coach both can be booked to pick hotel guests up here.

Yelp
I'm here on a cruise package with Princess. "Issues"!! My group arrived by train....our luggage was supposed to be delivered to our rooms...it was, so this was a nice arrival gift, our luggage made it...along with the big suitcase from someone else. We were given our room keys on the train...great idea...but they didn't work! #1 So the wife walked to the front to get new keys...she walked back....they didn't work (we just arrived one hour late, a 9 hour train ride from Whittier. We were tired....thankfully, a maintenance person, a lady was next door..their keys didn't work either...so we told her. She played with the keys, gave them back, opened our door with her master key... finally, we get inside!! Yeah!! Went to dinner...this campus is like a mini city...numerous buildings, so each time, put on all your cold weather gear to walk outside. Ate dinner at a very mediocre restaurant, maybe I'll do a review there also. Walked back, guess what...keys don't work....walk back to the front desk...I ask to speak to the manager in duty. A young lady emerges from the back, I explain the problem,?she has someone make another set of keys...#4....she hands them to me and I tell her to walk with me to my room...in case there's another problem....she sends the "supervisor"...guess she doesn't like walking so far in the cold...and frankly...probably expected the keys to fail again...and didn't want to have to walk back..,keys worked , went inside....FINALLY!! Turned on the tv...guess what?!! It didn't work!!! This was a once in a lifetime cruise...doubt I'll ever be back....but if I did, I would NOT stay here...

Yelp
Denali princess lodge......what a huge disappointment after a stellar majestic princess cruise. Our room M108, was straight out of the 80s. It was extremely noisy. I could listen to 3 tvs at once from the rooms above and beside ours. It was a Motel 6 experience, with a Hilton price. The room was also dirty, with stained carpet, dirt built up in corners of bathroom and stained toilet seat. The place is just plain old and run down. we also had to deal with under staffed restaurants. Excursions were all completely booked, so we had little to do but walk around and browse the over priced trinket stores. we won't be taking this trip again, nor recommending it to others.

Yelp
Pros: + Beautiful main lodge + Conveniently located close to Denali National Park + Part of the princess cruise tours Cons: - Extremely pricey for the quality you're getting - A little musty - Food at the lodge has limited choices

Yelp
We took the train up to Denali with three of our children. It was a great time on the train albeit very long with a ten minute layover in Talkeetna to let passengers on and off. They offer food for sale in the dining car, really good but expensive. It takes about eight hours by train to get to Denali. We didn't see very much wildlife, over all it was comfortable and a good ride. Also, the staff was very accommodating. We got to the park and we boarded a coach to go to the hotel they have several rooms that are closed down due to Covid. The rooms that we were given are nice. They advertised and told us that we would be getting rooms with two beds. We were given rooms with one king sized bed and a pull out couch. I would strongly advise bringing your own toilet paper, unless you like wiping with cardboard. There isn't any ac other than in the main building, but they do have fans in the rooms. We stayed for two nights. We did not feel rushed by doing this. It gave us more time to do the excursions that we paid for beforehand. We went on the black dimond chuck wagon tour. Our guide Brooke was very informative and a lot of fun. Jay was on the reigns and the horses were very sweet. When they weren't pulling the wagon they were comforting each other. Anyway, they take you a couple of miles back into the park. It is a bumpy ride but well worth it. The views are amazing! They take you to a building that looks like a cabin and feed you a family style dinner. You won't leave hungry, if you fo it is your own fault! We got back about four hours later. The next day we were to take the Denali natural history tour. Honestly the worst part of our trip. Sharon, the lady who drove the bus was not friendly at all. She was very bossy and should not be in customer service. We ended up going to see a film about the park first. We decided to leave and just come back to the hotel. We did not want to spend five hours on a full bus with this woman as our guide. We came back and just spent time hanging out and seeing all the shops in the area around our hotel. We ate at Fanny Q's, highly recommend. The food was amazing! That night we went to the dinner theater that was offered. The wait staff are also the actors and they did a fantastic job. They feed you a family style meal with all the fixings, including dessert. The show starts after everyone has eaten, again if you leave hungry it is your own fault. The actors all have amazing voices and take turns singing to you while you eat. They include the crowd before and during the performance. The show itself is very informative and a lot of fun to watch. Tip well because they all deserve it! The following day we boarded the train again to come back to Anchorage. I suggest every excursion you do be there about 15 minutes before they board at least. It makes for a smoother experience all the way around! We would do this trip again, next time only take the train up and a coach back and bring our own bathroom paperwork.

Yelp
We stayed here as part of our tour with Princess Cruises, a package with a week of land tours and a 7-day cruise. I have to start out by saying that we expected better from the price of these tours, but it wasn't terrible for a place in the middle of nowhere. This is a review of the entire lodge complex. This is a wilderness lodge billed as a resort, and I suppose it falls somewhere in between the two. The views are absolutely amazing, with a lovely river walk to explore. The rooms weren't bad. However, we were there in mid-July, and despite this being Alaska the heat was killer. The ventilation in these rooms was terrible and there was no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan, making for a pretty rotten night's sleep. The WiFi also supposedly existed but we could never make it work. As we were expecting, every meal was insanely priced, no matter which of the on-site restaurants you chose. Most of these had pretty average fare despite the prices. The pizza place was billed as a quick and reasonably priced lunch. Unfortunately it was the only decent lunch option, meaning that the line was crazy and we never managed to get in. The small cafe had a limited and very overpriced selection, although we really liked the huckleberry ice cream. In the end, we wound up eating many times at the Subway across the street, which someone later claimed was the highest grossing Subway in the world. I don't know if that's true but I'd definitely believe it. Their prices are the highest of any Subway I've ever visited, but with the options at the Lodge, many people eat there anyway! I don't know what the other local options are like, but if I were to return I would definitely consider alternatives to the Lodge.

Yelp
This was part of our tour group for our stops in Denali to get shut eye for a few days. Room-wise it's the same as the McKinley lodge and the lodge in Copper: a couple beds and a tv with some desks in a cabin-like interior. Fortunately the rooms have wi-fi although not strong due to Denali being far from Anchorage where most things take precedent. I liked this one better than the last lodge we stayed in. The location enables more activity and exploring in terms of things to do. There are multiple restaurants/shops/excursion-rentals across the street from the lodge. It's a mile from the national park with multiple trails leading to there. They also do shuttle buses from the lodge to the park if you don't feel like walking there. I recommend the walk so you can view the beautiful scenes of nature and wildlife you might encounter. If you come across any bears or moose, good luck!

Yelp
We stayed here for a couple nights as we visited the Denali National Park. Cool looking wooden lodge with various amenities; cafe, restaurants, store, an evening performance and various tour services. Our room was comfy, simple layout, clean, no qualms here. You get WiFi too. Service wise, nothing stands out about this place. I did notice most of the guest staying here are mostly seniors.

Yelp
If you want to spend premium prices for what amounts to a church camp experience without the spiritual lift, this is your place. I realize this is Alaska, and the views are magnificent. But, every Motel 6 in the country at least has air conditioning. When it's 85 degrees out, you want somewhere you can go to cool off and rest. Initially we were given a room with two beds, either full size or queen. My wife complained and we got another room with a king-size bed, but it was a room for handicapped room so the bed and everything else was practically on the floor. Never again. We love Alaska, but next time we'll rent a car and book our own lodging.

Yelp
Arrived here as an independent reservation (not part of a Princess Cruise) and was treated so poorly. Reservationists was so rude (Camry) - treated us as if we were checking in to a Motel 6. All Princess Cruise-passengers were given room keys & room assignments upon arrival - even though their rooms were not yet ready since check in is technically 3 pm. When we arrived at 11:30 am to check in - we were told 3 pm no exceptions. We requested 2nd floor & were told all at capacity (Cruise passengers have priority preference). Tried to check in at 2:50 pm and once again - were treated rudely & told they could not help us until 3 pm. Beware ... if you are a traveler & not part of Princess Cruise - your not a priority! We paid $379 for one night & the reservation staff treats you like your garbage!!! Will not be back ! There's too many options at this price bracket to be so dissatisfied with the customer service and feel so unwelcome after such effort to get here!

Yelp
One word sums it up - PERFECT! Very clean rooms and very nice grounds and check-in lodge. We took the Princess train ride from Anchorage to Denali National Park and it let us off right near the hotel. We had to take a bus but it was less than a mile away. They deliver your luggage straight from the train to your room. Be aware though, if you are using a Groupon on Princess, you will need to stop by the front desk of the hotel and let them know that. Otherwise, your luggage will not be delivered and you will be waiting a long time. We read this in someone else's tip on Yelp - thank goodness! If you plan on taking a bus through Denali Park, save yourself some coin and catch a park bus from the Wildnerness Visitor Center at the front of the park. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you there. If you take the bus tour from the hotel, you will pay EXTRA and all you will get is a box lunch and a licensed tour guide, and it cost a LOT more. The park employee that drove our bus was experienced enough and shared a lot of info with us - I would do it again! The food at the lodge is good, we ate at two of the places and had good experiences all the way around.

Yelp
This Princess Lodge is a huge complex full of multiple rooms. It's pretty much a large hotel, with no log cabin feel at all. The hotel tries to be rugged, but it's full of all the amenities that you can find in any hotel. We spent $299 per night with the second night half off, which we thought was a great deal. :) there are a couple restaurants right on site. (1) Base Camp Bar & Grill (2) King Salmon Restaurant However, there are so many restaurants across the street, so don't feel obligated to eat in the lodges. Be on the lookout for wildlife, you can probably see some along the rivers edge.

Yelp
Came here on a package tour and cruise by Princess. Company lost my luggage in transit, could not get anyone to answer the phone and had to deal with aloof, incompetent hotel staff. The people at princess assure you on what the tour and Amenities will include. But time and time again Excuses were given why certain amenities were closed and itineraries changed at last minute. Unable to provide on some of the basic services. Located in a beautiful location is about it's only positive attribute at this time. Paying $10,000 for couples vacation and given substandard services should be unacceptable! Or at least tell you at the beginning that you're not going to get certain services. Don't be fooled by the sales personnel. This company is struggling post covid and will say anything for your business.Seems like once they get the money to hell with everything else.I will never go on another cruise or vacation with any princess company.I would rather have a root canal preformed up thru my ass.Fucking nightmare. Stay away!

Yelp
Terrible front desk service. Manager refused to clean room after 10am. She was rude and unaccomodating. Hotel stuck in the 80s.

Yelp
If you're cruising along the road in Denali and looking for a place to stay, you might see a familiar logo of a blue lady with flowing locks on a white background. Immediately you will be drawn to it, particularly if you are 'of a certain age' (or older) and remember sitting down to watch the weekly episode of "The Love Boat" with glee. Yes, it's the Princess logo you're looking at. And just in case you weren't sure, the name might give you a clue. Hello? It's called the Princess Lodge. Now, a few Yelpers have been a little whiney in their reviews but let me tell you, two double sized beds in the twin room, a hot, fast-flowing shower over a BATH and enough room to swing a Dall Goat (the reason this park exists) around is pretty darn stupendous, nay, sheer LUXURY after a week on a boat. Because that's who stays here and the cruisers have the market. So the staff don't need to make an effort for the passers by who want to stay. There are rooms filled every day by cruisers and getting additional business just means more stupid questions they'll have to answer. So yes, more a motel than a hotel and certainly not a resort, which it doesn't purport to be. But the beds are comfy, the rooms are toasty warm and that bath is sure welcome after a day of hiking up mountains. It's not my usual sort of gig, being ultra touristica, but it does the job. Note: "*cruising* along the road"...see what I did there? You're welcome.

Yelp
My family and I stayed at this lodge as part of our Princess Cruisetour and it is easily one of the worst places I have ever stayed. I recommend that you read the other 1-star reviews because they give you a pretty complete picture of what you can expect. Upon arrival, our room smelled so strongly of disinfectant that we couldn't breathe. Even after airing out the room for several hours, the smell was overwhelming. Our Tour Director had to step in and help get us moved to another room and we agreed, even though we ended up in a separate building from our children. We had pre-booked reservations at the King Salmon Restaurant and went in person to change the time, only to have the host stop MIDWAY THROUGH HELPING US to answer the phone and help the person on the line change their reservation while the seven of us had to stand and wait! (Assist the people standing in front of you and put the call on hold!) Needless to say, we just cancelled our reservation and walked to a non-Princess restaurant for a delicious dinner. But wait, there is more... the next morning, I was wandering lost through our lodge looking for ice and stopped in the lobby cafe to ask for help finding the ice machine. The girl working the counter barely looked up from her phone to tell me, "It's somewhere in the hallway." I had to flag down a luggage handler who walked with me up the next floor and down a hallway where the machine was located, apologetically telling me, "Yeah, these things are hard to find." Later, when my family and I were in the lobby waiting for our excursion, the same girl was SITTING ON THE COUNTER. Seriously, what kind of training does Princess give their employees? It's obvious that courteous, attentive service is not part of their curriculum. Steer clear of this place. The views are nice and the stores have some cool gifts, but these are available to the general public. You don't need to waste your money on an overnight stay. Try The Bake Cabins across the street instead... they have a great restaurant/bar, too.

Yelp
Nice hotel. Main lodge with a couple of restaurants. Large sitting area with a great view of mt McKinley when not covered in clouds. Our room was a average room and did not have a balcony or view. The resort overall was pretty nice but felt captive as the nearest town was a 30 ride away.

Art V.

Yelp
Pros: Big, nice facility, plenty of things to do on the facility. Organized excursion area. Walking distance to other local places and a short drive into Denali National Park. Cons: Bad customer service, no a/c so the room was hot and stuffy to the point it was almost unbearable. I don't recommend due to the a/c and poor service.

Yelp
Do not have a problem or a loss because Princess claims department is rude and worthlessness. We are a repeat lodger at the these hotels and had not had a problem. Have stayed at all 4 Alaskan Princess lodges. This time accompanied a 10+ Princess Cruising couple who was treated poorly with their claim. Princess is worse than many large companies because the higher up you go to press a complaint, the worse you are treated. Neither our friends nor we have ever had an issue before so we are not repeat complainers. Issue was that an expensive camera was stolen from the room. Hotel room key electronic record revealed that the room was only opened once and that was by housekeeping. Loss was promptly reported and a police report was filed. Housekeeper denied taking the camera. While this is insufficient evidence for a criminal charge, the camera was lost due to their negligence. Again, the frustration over the denied claim was bad enough, but let's add rudeness and slowness to the mix. Princess Management must not care because treatment got worse as we pursued the matter.
