The hotel itself is absolutely a step back in time, and even though it is right next to the freight rail line we enjoyed the sights and sounds of it all, the other highlight was being right across the road from the Great Western Hotel their meals were amazing and what they hide behind the hotel in the big shed blew us away..
Cons: we booked through booking.com but when I wanted to extend our stay from 1 to 2 nights 1.5 weeks before us arriving, that's where communication to the hotel was not clear or executed to the point I had to call to confirm they had changed my booking dates, I was met with a very blunt rude person on the other end. We arrived Sat 19 April, we had to wait a few moments in the reception/dining area before being served which wasn't an issue, was advised they were not the one that had been in communication with me and that the other receptionist have had several complaints against them, Checking in and was told to sign the paperwork which I pointed out the amount was different to what was on booking.com she then advised she had already charged my card before I signed the paperwork? Then apologised and said, I can see yes you are correct, but the other receptionist hadn't changed the price on my booking on their computer? So I would have to wait for the manager to confirm this and would be refunded, being Easter long weekend funds only cleared 24 April. There was also no communication about what the hotel offers just given a room key and told where to go.
