The management and staff at this hotel go above and beyond. We had a precarious situation this morning and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our every need and more. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and absolutely gorgeous in their period setting. Less one star on location, as train noise can be quite loud, and it is left turn only into the driveway. However, it was close to every thing we needed

On entering the room smelt musty. The accessibility bathroom very substandard. The toilet seat fitting broke due to age and rusted. Single shower grab rail incorrectly positioned. Bed very soft and difficult to move about on or sit up with ease and totally unsuitable for non-ambulatory guest Mini bar fridge freezer frozen over. Kitchen utensils and facilities limited to a kettle and two teaspoons. 2 centromere lip surrounds building between grounds surface and room entry floor and difficult for wheelchair guest to cross independently.

Great room, incredibly comfortable bed, water in fridge, great location.. really can’t complain. Great Western right next door which is always a good vibe. My one note would be I was squinting to watch the TV so I had to give up… far too far away from the bed!

We liked the boutique nature of the hote, however more could have been done to make our stay more comfortable. The standard of service was very poor, we stayed 5 days room was never serviced or the bins emptied. Same for the breakfast room, very untidy, garbage overflowing and the breakfast offering for a 4 star hotel was well below standard.|So much more could be made from the lovely historical facility, with a little more effort and though.

Not really a 4 star hotel, no restaurant or room service rooms only get cleaned on weekends and location noisy would be ok if a lot cheaper.

Stayed here for a couple of nights , can't complain, has it's old charm , and exciting history , large bed and spa bath.
The trains , coming past are part of the experience and fun to watch, if you are into trains and history I'd recommend this hotel.

Denison is marketed as luxury Boutique accommodation but is anything but. It is located in an industrial commercial area with regular freight trains literally going past all day and night 10 metres from the hotel- the whole room shakes. Our 1st room was so heavily saturated with sanitiser and deodoriser that we could hardly breathe. Our eyes mouth and throat were burning after trying to sleep in the room with the windows and door open all night which was quite concerning for safety reasons, in the end we had to pack up at daylight and vacate the room. When the manager finally arrived 3 hours later she told me that I could not have possibly had the doors and windows open all night and began berating me and telling me that she would not refund a room based on dislike of deodoriser and I could leave without a refund for the next 3 nights. It took considerable effort to settle her down, and convince her to at least allow us to change rooms. She kept saying the hotel was fully booked when there was clearly not many people staying there as the car park had many vacancies and most rooms had no lights on the whole time we stayed.
The first room also had a dripping shower and a spa that was so high it was safety issue getting in and out of it and the tiles are not non slip. The reason for the excessive use of deodoriser is to mask the foul smell of damp and mould as far as I can determine. In the end my wife spent 3 hours at the optometrist getting her eyes checked to make sure they were not damaged as the burning would not stop after 2 days.
Overall the hotel has not been very well adapted to become accommodation as it used to be used for the railways. The 2nd room’s bathroom had a lot of mould down low, the water wouldn’t drain so we had towels all over the floor to soak up the water it was a constant trip and slip hazard. The bathroom had a foul smell that would come and go like the grey water was backing up. So the smell of deodoriser while not as strong as the first room had been used and still required leaving the windows and doors open all night which also had the added disadvantage of not keeping the outside noise out as there is not only trains going by, but a major hotel across the road that parties with loud thumping music until late into the night and there is a constant stream of people coming and going making an absolute raucous. This is some of the worst accommodation I have stayed in I would not recommend it to anyone.

Fun hotel. Big clean rooms with antique furniture. Very comfortable bed. Great value. Is a potential for noise with trains nearby but it wasn't an issue for us. We would stay here again.
