Hotel Denit, Gothic Quarter, Barcelona, Spain - Explore & Book

"Despite being an easy stroll from buzzy nightlife on Plaça de Catalunya, designer boutiques on Calle Avinyo and the livewire delights of the labyrinthine Barri Gòtic, Hotel Denit is a noise-free sanctuary. Tucked down a quiet sidestreet, its shop-front façade opens onto a chessboard-style black-and-white lobby that sets the tone for the white, minimalist décor that runs throughout. If style is somewhat stark, the reception staff are friendly, and happy to dish out helpful advice about their city. A slightly cramped elevator sweeps you up to 36 rooms spread across 5 floors, where you’ll find a soothing and modern blend of white wood and pale furnishings. Each is cleverly laid out to maximise space, and whilst the focus is on the functional rather than the luxuriant, you still get the odd treat: flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, power showers, complimentary toiletries and free WiFi. But the real beauty of Denit is its location (within easy reach of the city's hotspots) and its prices: the earlier you book, the less you pay. Highs Squeaky clean rooms with attractive décor and equally attractive pricesPeaceful slumbers are guaranteed, yet you're seconds away from the city’s main arteries and close to the street artists and market stalls of Las RamblasFriendly, helpful staff, ably led by manager Jordi, who go that extra mile to help you get the best out of your stayTasty buffet breakfasts (not included in room rate) with plenty of choice and Nespresso coffeeClose to boutiques, department stores and vibrant nightlife, so a perfect choice for those who want to shop and party Lows Bathrooms are behind a frosted glass door rather than being completely separate from the bedroomCozy and Tiny Rooms are cramped, but they make excellent crash pads if you're here to shop, sightsee and eat outRooms at the back are overlooked by neighbouring apartments - but you can always pull down the blinds or request a street-facing roomNo place to park nearby, but we wouldn't recommend bringing a car anyway, especially when Barcelona's transport system is so good" - Heidi Fuller-Love

My wife and I stayed three nights in this hotel last week, and we would do it again if we were to return to Barcelona. We selected it based on recommendations in Rick Steves guides, and it was exactly what we needed. Nothing fancy, just clean, convenient quarters with a very helpful staff and good breakfast. Everything works, and the hotel was exactly as presented in the online info, which in our experience is not always the case. We were able to drop off our luggage at 8:30 AM of the day we arrived; there is a good sized storage locker for this purpose. Room was available a bit early, and Kris at the front desk notified us by email when it was ready. Kris in particular was very helpful, recommending the hop-on hop-off bus, securing tickets, scheduling a taxi.. just generally making our stay easy. The location was walkable to most of the things we wanted to see. We caught the bus to La Sagrada Familia but some folks would be ok walking. We chose to purchase the breakfast, which was solid. Probably a little more expensive than going out, but in our view the added convenience was well worth it. It may sound trivial, but we really appreciated that the elevator was of a decent size and pretty fast! Our room was in the middle of size range compared to others in the hotel. The shower was unusually large in our experience of Europe, which was a plus. AC worked great. Furnishings were pretty nominal, but it had what we needed, and the bed was comfortable. As mentioned, we would absolutely book this hotel again.

We were happy guests from July 8-12, 2025! We gratefully took the recommendation from The Rick Steves travel guide. It was such a pleasure staying in this hotel; clean, small room but we enjoyed it. We loved the breakfast! All our needs met. Convenient location, close to bus stops, shops, restaurants! Thank you to all staff! We hope to return one day very soon. Definitely recommend!

Google
Super location, with easy walking access to Aerobus to and from the airport and Gothic Quarter. Easy and cheap taxi ride to Sagrada Familia. Breakfast was great and all staff very accommodating.

Google
Loved our stay at this hotel! The location can't be beat. You're in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, and most things are a short walk away. The rooms were quiet, and had air conditioning. The shower was one of the best I've ever experienced! One of our favorite parts was the breakfast! We will always stay at Hotel Denit when we visit Barcelona!

Google
Best location, felt pretty safe around hotel! Rooms are small but functional. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. It would be even better if there are hooks in the room for towels or clothes, especially in the bathroom.

Google
Hotel with excellent location and friendly service, but lacking in other points. The rooms are visibly more worn than what the pictures indicate, with some signs of damage to the shelving under the sink. Tellingly, no photographs of the bathroom were uploaded in the hotel’s advertising materials. The bathrooms were small, spartan, and featured a bathtub-shower combination. I found the bathroom to be dimly lit. I found the layout of the room very bizarre and pretty uncomfortable, because there was no proper separation between the wet and dry areas. The bathroom door was a giant piece of sliding glass which felt cumbersome to use. Not sure why they didn’t just go with a simple wooden door. The furniture is generally of low quality. The beds are on wheels and so easily move around if one tosses and turns in bed. The beds were uncomfortably hard in my view, and sheets were extremely thin and of low quality. Duvets were provided but these could not be inserted into the sheets, and so had to go over the top, making for an awkward experience. I had trouble sleeping most nights. Lacking in basic amenities such as room slippers and tissue paper (not even available upon request!)The room has a Lavazza coffee maker and there was a great variety of teas and coffees, both capsules and instant kinds. The hotel lobby and common areas were nicely decorated and furnished. I found it strange that the hotel’s efforts seemed largely to be devoted to these areas, instead of improving the comfort of the rooms. All in all it’s a serviceable room in a great location if you are not too particular about the conditions of the room.

Google
Hotel has a great location. There are taxis galore up at the corner. Metro is also conveniently nearby. Everything in the area is very walkable. It’s excellently located, in short. Our room faced the street and was quiet. The breakfast room was quiet, pleasant, well appointed, and offered a variety of foods and beverages. The only negative was an unsecured internet with spotty connection in some ateas of the hotel.

Google
Good value. Clean, quiet and very comfortable beds. Great location for exploring the Gothic quarter on foot but also perfectly placed for easy access to buses from Plaça Catalunya (including regular airport buses). We would definitely return to this hotel.

Yelp
Clean and quiet. Friendly staff and it is near so many restaurants and walkable areas.

Yelp
Super convenient location, a block away from Las Ramblas and Plaza de Catalunya where all the metro lines converge, including stop for the €5.9 Aerobus to/from airport. Friendly staff. We didn't try the breakfast in the hotel. The few cons are: - Yes, the "S" (small) rooms are really cozy, we had a "L" one and it was just right - They do have free wifi, but painfully slow (~0.3 Mbps down). And only web traffic (prob port 80 and 443). e.g. IMAP doesn't work - This is a small hotel, so you can hear everything your neighbor is doing (shower, having cereal in the room, etc.) We had room #5 on first floor right behind the checkin counter and you get to even hear all the languages of the travelers checking in

Yelp
If I o not see a charge on my credit card more than I think I am paying I give this a 4. If not it will be chagnged to a 1 but think it all worked out. The location is fantastic. The rooms are tight but that seems to be the norm in Europe and I am ok with that. Comfortable bed and good temp and shower is all I need and we got that. The service desk was almost always very responsive. The location of this place is incredible as it is near Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter. Both are what we were there for so we were quite happy with it. They did not have soap in the bathroom but immediately rectified the situation when asked. I was confused about the room rate on my 3rd night. They matched my Booking.com rate supposedly and that was great but still not sure I will be charged correctly. I think it worked out correctly. Will find out later. Next time would probably just use booking.com instead which worked well. I just like to allow hotels to match the price and go directly with them. But with the language barrier maybe not worth that consideration. But I would definitely stay here again. Slow street but only a block from many coffee shops and many of the great sites.

Yelp
We loved that this hotel was right in the middle of Barcelona. Just a couple of blocks from Las Ramblas. East access to all of Barcelona. The hotel is situated in a dark and sketchy alley...but safe none the less. We would definitely stay here again...but in a bigger room.

Yelp
Honestly, I don't know how it gets any better than this! Well, unless you want a real 5 star hotel and are willing to pay for it. But if you want convenience, value, cleanliness, friendly staff, comfortable room, decent breakfast, and access to all that Barcelona has to offer, this is your place!! I picked this hotel for our 6 day stay based on Yelp and Tripadvisor reviews and was hoping that it would be OK. Well, it was more than ok. It was fabulous! We had an XL room and it was pristine and super comfy. Ok, the shower was more like a wet room but once you get used to it, you figure out how to minimize the water on the bathroom floor. But the shower was great!! From a convenience perspective, you couldn't ask for anything better. In a quiet alley just a block and a half off La Ramblas, you have access to all that you need but without the craziness and noise that a hotel fronting La Ramblas has. The Aerobus is right there at catalunya along with a huge metro station that makes getting around super easy! The street at the end of the alley, Carrer Comtal, is a pedestrian street filled with restaurants, bakeries, gelato, you name it! And it lets you avoid the crowds!! And the Gothic quarter is at your doorstep! The staff all spoke great English and were very helpful and courteous. A rack of umbrellas right at the front door came in handy a couple days when we had a bit of rain for our adventures. The breakfast was a typical European breakfast and was an easy start to the day without having to walk outside. There is no ice machine but the staff got us an ice bucket filled every day so we were able to chill our cava. This place is a gem. I'd definitely stay here again and wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

Yelp
This modern and central hotel is a good deal if you are looking for a comfortable stay with breakfast included. Located centrally (2 min wall from Place de Catalunya) you can access the city center of Barcelona by foot.Super convenient to access if you are coming from the airport or want to leave. The A3 bus is 2 minutes away. Orient yourself by the huge Media Market which is on the corner of the street Hotel Denit is located on. Tucked away in a quiet street our room was quiet with a view on real Mediterranean life (with some laundry hanging on balconies). I didn't mind because it was sort of charming plus you're not much in the room anyway. The room had a little tea maker and wifi which unfortunately was very slow. The design of the room was one I have never encountered before. The bathroom with shower and toilet were separate from the sink which was in the same room as the bed hidden under a jalousie curtain. The downside to that is if you and your partner are our of sync sleep wise and one of you has to use the bathroom and then washes their hands, it might get annoying in the morning but hey, you still have to get up to catch that sightseeing tour. Breakfast included the usual ranting from cereal and milk to eggs and juices. The breakfast room has big communal tables as well as ones only for 2. Rooms were cleaned daily and fresh soaps and towels were provided. There is a computer and printer in the lobby in case you want to print something out. The area is safe to walk at night and lively during the day with many stores, restaurants, coffee shops and souvenir places. For the price you get the convenience and comfort of a small modern city hotel.

Yelp
Hotel Denit was a happy find indeed! When you book a hotel online it always feels like a roll of the dice. Pictures and descriptions can often be deceiving. In this case, the pictures don't do it justice! It looks cute in the photos but it's far nicer in person. Yes, it's a compact European style hotel. We got the extra large room per other reviews and it's more than ample for 2 people. The ultra modern decor with all white on white certainly makes it feel larger. Everything feels clean, new & efficient. Front desk is friendly, helpful on directions and everyone has spoken exceptional English. They've happily provided ice buckets for us to chill wine & cava in our room - all you need to do is ask! The location in the Gothic section absolutely can't be beaten! There are so many local attractions within walking distance and there are literally hundreds of local restaurants and shops within a 10 minute walk. It's 2 blocks from multiple Metro line stops, the train & airport transportation stops. The pedestrian only street feels safe at all hours and is very typical for this part of Barcelona. It's a great part of town to stay in and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Yelp
This hotel was in a perfect central location to the gothic district and surrounding areas. Yes it was small but the finishes and layout were beautiful and clean. Front desk person spoke english and was always friendly and helpful. There are city books in the lobby and theres also a bike rental company and luggage locker place right next door. I would definitely stay here the next time I'm in Barcelona.

Yelp
Great location, at one time maybe this was a cute modern hip pod hotel, it now looks like a sad version of a knock off W that has seen much better days. For the price tho a solid deal.

Yelp
A great boutique Hotel with amazing location. I had the chance to spend a couple of days in Barcelona and chose to this place for the price. It ended up being a very nice surprise and I felt I had to leave this review. The staff is extremely professional, the rooms are nicely acquainted, and the service is on point. Yes, the rooms was a bit dark but this is due to the location (small streets and old building) and I do not go to a City to spend time in my room anyways. Thank you for making my short stay in Barcelona very pleasant. N.

Yelp
The hotel is hard to find. The rooms are dark on the quiet side of the hotel and unfortunately very noisy on the bright side. The rooms are stark. The staff we're all very polite, kind and professional, all except the manager. I found her extremely rude and Curt. Although the breakfast was fairly diverse, the bacon was very undercooked, pretty much raw every day. The one day my daughter had yogurt it was curdled. All in all after traveling for weeks throughout Europe This was definitely our least favorite Hotel. I would not recommend this property. The only thing that is good about this hotel is the location

Yelp
This hotel was perfect for our first trip to Barcelona. It is very conveniently located down a quiet little side street, just around the corner from Placa de Catalunya (where you can catch busses to the airport or all over the city, plus a key metro stop) . There is a small restaurant a couple doors down and two luggage storage businesses on the little street. I booked a large size room for me and my daughter. It was perfect. Cute sleek European modern decor. Quiet, air-conditioned, comfortable, clean. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion are included. Television with a lot of channels in multiple languages, free Wi-Fi, a small coffee machine in the room plus tea options, blackout curtains. Bath towels, hand towels and a bathmat are in the room but no washcloths, so if you are an American used to using a washcloth, bring your own. As others have mentioned, taking a shower does tend to get water everywhere in the toilet area, but it's a European-style shower not American, so that's just the way it is. We ended up getting an extra towel so we could dry the floor off, which solved the problem. Breakfast is in a stylish room on the bottom floor of the building; a pleasant assortment of European and American fare. Everything was good quality and fresh. Breakfast has conveniently long hours: 7:30 AM to 11 AM. The front desk staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Their English is very good, but they were also very patient with my attempts to use Spanish and even a little Catalan. The hotel has scooters that children can borrow for free. Also a nice stash of umbrellas kept near the front door. And some shelves of books to borrow or exchange. I will definitely stay here again if I am lucky enough to go to Barcelona again and I recommend this hotel!

Yelp
This hotel is taking advantage of the coronavirus pandemic. This company is hiding behind a policy rather than human decency during this unprecedented pandemic. I contacted them immediately after the announcement of the U.S. travel restrictions. While all of the Airbnbs and small businesses where I booked other lodging for this trip offered me a refund, Hotel Denit refused to give even a partial refund. They repeatedly claimed that they "truly understand the situation," but they clearly do not; many small businesses and individuals are suffering during this pandemic, yet this company has the means to make this situation right and chooses not to. All travelers, be warned.

Yelp
Jovana at the Hotel Denit is such an angel! She let us check in early and has been extremely accommodating. If you are in Barcelona -- this is the spot. Cool people, great rooms and awesome atmosphere. Check it out!

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights following a Mediterranean cruise. It was our first visit to Barcelona and we were a little unsure of which district to opt for. The Denit is a only a couple of blocks from Las Ramblas, which makes it convenient and also quiet. The free wi-fi was great and there's a printer in the lobby for printing boarding passes....very convenient. The room was very comfortable and the shower IS great. The breakfast was more than adequate and reasonably priced at 7euro.
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
We spent three nights in the Hotel Denit and had a wonderful time. The location cannot be beat. It is two blocks from La Rambla and less than a fifteen-minute walk from the Gothic Quarter, but it is on a quiet and secluded little side street. The Denit staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly. They recommended restaurants and even made dinner reservations. The rooms are super cute and well-appointed. The shower had a tendency to get water absolutely everywhere, but that was in part because it was so good that it was in use for long durations. The only negative aspect was that the continental breakfast, while offering quite a bit of variety, was still a little underwhelming. We will definitely stay at Hotel Denit again on our next visit to Barcelona.

Yelp
My companion and I stayed two nights, three days. PLUSES about Location: It's minutes away from popular Catalunya Square, Bus #24 which can take you to the Park Guell (think Gaudi), AeroBus (straight to airport for E 6,9--one of the best bargains ever), the Rambla--one of the grand promenades, meeting place for Barcelona Guide Bureau tours, the 9-floor Corte Ingles department store with one of the best views of the square and the city from their 9th floor restaurant, and underground Metro. It's a 10-15 minute walk from their Contemporary Art Museum and 15 minute walk from Picasso Museum (be sure to check their schedule of days and hours). PLUSES about Hotel: Friendly and helpful staff. Paola, their day person (she's originally from Switzerland), was one of the nicest. Clean accommodations, modern white look. Colorful bathroom amenities. Space was adequate for our needs. And because the hotel is located in an alley, there is no traffic sounds. We were on the first floor and it was quiet for us. Air conditioning worked well; wifi was quite decent. I appreciated their desktop computer for printing boarding passes, and availability of tour guide books that we could borrow. Reasonable price; easy check-out process. MINUSES: Our overhead shower didn't work; the handheld wand did so we were OK with it. Their strong recommendation of "Neyras" restaurant. We ate there, to our great regret. Go elsewhere.

Connie C.

Yelp
Recently stayed at Hotel Denit for 2 nights while vacationing on Spain. Very clean, easy to find and friendly staff. The best part was definitely the location, right by plaza de catalunya, exiample and las ramblas. Easy access to the metro and if coming from the airport, the airport shuttle stop is approx 2 blocks away.

Jimmy S.

Yelp
I booked directly through the hotel's website and SPECIFICALLY avoided the rate that said "NO REFUNDABLE". That means the rate that said "Romantic Package" is refundable, right? Apparently not as I attempted to cancel my stay with the hotel and am being told my reservation is non-refundable. By the way the reservation is for A MONTH AND A HALF FROM NOW. I even attached a picture from the website pointing out the confusion of the wording and the hotel is still not refunding my money. Shameful behavior and likely reflective of how this hotel does business.

Rich K.

Yelp
Modern ikea like design glass shower leaked so built a dam out of towels and needed daily replacement of towels wifi doesnt work very well here although they offer it free - Always have to re login after turning phone off with complicated ID's and passwords and then poor signal- hotel in convenient location but very touristy location --

Vicky G.

Yelp
Terrible experience. We arrived exhausted from the airport and were told that our extra large room was not available. All that would available was a small room and not until 'very late'. We only had one day left and Barcelona so 'very late' would not work. They did get a reservation at another hotel that's part of their chain, but they expected us to walk there with all our baggage. When we insisted we needed a cab they did not even offer to pay for the cab. The hotel we were sent to is expensive and has a five star rating but was not where we wanted to be and was large and noisy. We asked for a refund of the cab fare and the tip which we felt the driver deserved for having helped us with so many bags and for a short trip for a cab and a partial refund of the room. We were given the cab fare back but they seemed unhappy that they had to pay for the tip. And were flat out refused any compensation for having inconvenienced us. I've travelled throughout North America, South America and Europe for over 30 years and the way this was handled was THE WORST I've come across, rating even lower than a hostel in customer service when a reservation problem occurs. Staff is wonderful as is hotel but if they don't honor your reservation, hope for good luck because you wont get good care!
