Absolutely the BEST chicken parmigiana I have ever had. Large portions. I usually never order it because a lot of restaurants not preparing it very well, dry and not much flavor. This Restaurant has changed my mind about ordering it, I probably will every time I go.Great friendly service, the marinated peppers, cheese and bread is a wonderful combination to get before your meal. I highly recommend!

My son and I ordered takeout of Fettuccine Alfredo. We had checked on Google/Yelp, who sold the best in the Cromwell area and Denovellis was listed. Also said the best in the reviews. We didn't feel it was the best after our meals. This was our first time ordering anything from Denovellis. I think it was just personal preference. The restaurant looks fantastic from the pictures on the website. We are certainly going to try more items and eat in to try more.

They Open earlier than I thought so I finally got to try their Chicken Picata. This was the ultimate Chicken Picata, capers, artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, spinach, a yummy thicker than usual lemon sauce, chicken soft and cooked perfectly over angel hair pasta. I've never had so many ingredients in chicken picata and it is slightly overwhelming, however, I loved it!! They had French dressing and zesty Italian dressing available for the dinner salad, in my experience, very rare, so that made me happy. The service by Leslie was beyond perfect, she knew what to do to make my experience top shelf. I can't wait to go back now that I know they're open at 11:00am during the week. I definitely recommend!

I went to this Italian restaurant not too long ago, and everything about the experience was amazing. The atmosphere felt authentic and cozy, the food was full of rich flavor, and the service was warm and attentive. Every dish tasted freshly made and perfectly balanced. We haven’t been to an Italian restaurant that we liked in a long time. My wife found Denovellis while looking for a place to eat and they had great reviews so we figured we would try it. From the call for reservations until we paid the check and walked out was an amazing experience. It was a Friday and the place was packed but we were able to make reservations and get in rather quickly. We started with the Arancini, which was the best we’ve ever had. We had the Chicken di Nonna and the Chicken Enzo, both were absolutely delicious. The service was top notch and the atmosphere, albeit busy, was like stepping into an Italian family home for dinner. If I could give them six stars I would, we will definitely be back!!!

Everything was outstanding! The portions are generous, food delicious and service is always friendly and attentive. This place nails it... every time!

Was feeling the local pizza vibe. Found this little place. Cute interior and nice bar area. I took the pizza to go. The lady at the desk seemed to know everyone that came in. She was very nice and attentive. I ordered a small sausage and pepperoni for about $17. It had tons of cheese, the crust was great, and the lady at the front was so nice. Next time I will eat inside.

I wouldn't recommend unless you are ok with a family owned restaurant that does not prioritize customer service over profit . Horrible customer service and the worst we spoke to spoke to the owners and it was obvious they did not give a shit about the customer experience. Would jot recommend at all. 0 outt of 10.

Walking into where locals good for wonderful food and friendly faces. From calimari to meatballs wow so so good. Pasta, fish everything was so good. The atmosphere is excellent. A place where every meal is excellent.

Had a coworkers recommendation to try Denovellis! I treated myself to two righteous appetizers and a tasty mixed drink. I enjoyed myself in the bar, which had many lively, noisy and happy patrons. I felt the prices were steep, except for happy hour appetizer and drink prices. The service was great, with very little waiting for food delivery. I will come back soon, but be sure during happy hour.

We used to live in Rocky Hill and dined here many times - both in its old location and current. We recently returned after about 6 years (we moved away) because we were in the area for something else. Aside from the service being almost painfully slow on a Weds evening - the food was delicious. I love how thin they pound the chicken breast for the parm. I enjoy both their regular sauce and their vodka sauce. Their salads are fresh and the roasted pepper and prov they put on the table is one of my favorite parts. The bread they serve is delicious! We recently ordered the roasted shishito peppers which were also great. Even my very particular Mother enjoyed her meal (carbonara)!

What a perfect dinner at Denovellis!! From start to finish the food was phenomenal. I had ordered a perfectly poured espresso martini while I reviewed the menu. During my browsing, the server came over with fresh bread and a complimentary plate of roasted peppers with garlic and slices of cheese. That alone wowed me! So I wanted to try more! I chose to order the portobello mushrooms as the appetizer and I can't believe how good it was and how I nearly licked the plate. The sauce on top was a sherry wine with a melted Gorgonzola cheese. It was so good that I used the bread to scrape the plate. It was one of the best sauces I've ever tasted on top of stuffed mushrooms. For dinner I tried the chicken Enzo named after one of the chef's. It was baked chicken breast topped with breaded eggplant, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil pesto. It was served with a side dish of penne alla vodka and a salad. This entree was amazing as well as the chicken il nonna! I was thoroughly impressed but then dessert came. And I was completely blown away by the house made pistachio tiramisu. It was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. It was light but full of flavor. Probably one of the best desserts I've had in a while too. The cassata cake was also very good. I've told all my friends and family about this place and honestly can't wait to go back.

Visited at lunch time on a Friday...AND NEEDED A RESERVATION! The joint was classy & hopping! 3 of my companions had Chicken Picata and I went with the Chicken Forte and were all very pleased with our choices. Service was omnipresent and omnipleasant! Our entrees were all around $20, with bread, salad. and a side of Penne w/Vodka Sauce. My Chicken Forte (also available with Veal) was tender and with a well executed bite. We'll definitely be back to this one!

We went here with some friends for drinks and dinner it was fantastic. The waitress took care of us beautifully. We got a couple appetizers and the dinner we loved it. Bar and restaurant area was very nice.

Last night we ordered Shrimp Mediterranean and it was delicious. What we enjoyed most, however, was the pistachio tiramisu. We plan to go back and try another one of their main courses and for dessert...pistachio tiramisu again!

This place is my new obsession. I went with my family last week and already went back for a second time this week. Denovellis is serving up classic Italian food done so perfectly. First, they start with house roasted peppers, cheese, and warm bread. I don't even typically like peppers, but these are so good I could eat all of them. The chicken dishes have the most tender chicken. Chicken parm and chicken francaise are some of the best my husband and I have ever had. I love that the entrees come with a side of pasta with pink sauce. I never eat the pasta side but that pink sauce is DELICIOUS! Entrees also come with basic house salad that is fresh and yummy or homemade soup - pasta fagioli was amazing. I just can't say enough about this restaurant. The food is excellent. The service is friendly and warm. You can tell that there are lots of regulars. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant section with two corner booths but make a reservation as it gets very busy! There is also a large bar with some high top tables for walk in seating as well. If you're looking for Italian comfort food, this is the spot.

The food was excellent, you can smell the deliciousness as soon as you enter the restaurant! The atmosphere is homey like a village restaurant in Italy. The service was consistent and the servers were very friendly and attentive. Overall I will definitely be back soon!

Another tired Italian place. We were here for lunch, first people in, yet the service was spotty. I had the blackened caesar salad. They did a well job on the chicken. Perfectly cooked and the dressing was perfect. The menu options were standard. Not creative nor special. I will be back but this place is the Applebee's of Italian.

I am in town for work and wanted to try something local. The hotel personnel recommended this place and I am happy she did. The place is very adorable and feels homey inside. I sat at the bar and was instantly waited on by friendly bartenders. I asked the bartender what she recommended for food and she suggested a vegetarian pizza but take eggplant off and add bacon. This literally made the pizza 10x better! It was pretty good size for the cost. The service was fast and delicious. I would recommend this to anyone looking for Italian that is made from the heart!

I came here for dinner on a very busy Saturday night. My friend and I were lucky enough to snag a table in the bar right away. We started off with the table peppers, cheese, and bread. Instead of having the salad that was included with my dinner (Chicken di Nonna) I opted for pasta fagioli. If I wasn't pregnant at the time, I would have been completely fine, but unfortunately the peppers and soup triggered the worst acid reflux. I ended up needing to have my dinner boxed right when it was served - I was pretty embarrassed about the situation, but thankfully the staff was quickly accommodating and understanding. After my symptoms subsided, I was able to finally try my dinner at home and I was very pleased - the chicken was SO good and provided 2 dinners. I also took home Pistachio Tiramisu, which was insanely delicious - I seriously could have eaten a whole tray of it! I plan on returning with my husband since he has never been here, and I will be ordering the same exact meal!

First time and I'm a fan! Service was excellent, menu was extensive, offering something for everyone. My calamari dish was outstanding, it was extremely tender served with a light tomato sauce over perfectly cooked linguine pasta. A medley of flame roasted peppers; garlic infused evoo and Fontina cheese was the perfect complement to the meal. Service was attentive, personable and helpful. This was a wonderful dining experience, I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Great food, however, at lunchtime there are some nasty older guys at the bar swearing up a storm. Quite disturbing that the owner or staff members obviously have not addressed this. It' absolutely embarrassing!

Best restaurant around! We recently dined in for lunch. Food was fantastic and service was great! They start you off with fresh, warm bread which was really yummy. We ordered the homemade mozzarella sticks to start. They were very tasty and just perfect. The marinara sauce was terrific. We both ordered the scallops and shrimp with vodka sauce over penne. It was soooooo good. The entree came with a side salad as well. The vodka sauce was just perfect and we can't wait to go back!

Food is so good but things have changed. No more olives and focaccia bread just stopped giving you it in the nearly empty bread basket that you have to keep begging for more, isn't even good Italian bread ( if your Italian you know) More than once they when they run out of peppers they gave us just cheese, This happened twice to us that people near us were given peppers and cheese Oh that's right they knew everyone there BOTH times NOPE !!!

Food excellent Prices fair Service very good Place is so good and so popular that it's hard to get a seat or a parking spot. You have to get there BEFORE OPENING TIME! Because it fills so quickly. Ambiance is ok, a lot of regular customers.

4.5 stars. This place is absolutely delicious. My family has been going to this restaurant multiple times a month. You can choose anything on the menu and it is guaranteed to be good. The penne vodka is a staple for me. The photo barely does it justice. The portions are large, it lasts me another dinner for the next day! Every meal basically comes with a good size salad included. Love that they give you bread, cheese, and peppers to munch on. Wait staff is very nice, and always checking in to see if you need anything. The specials always sound amazing. I recommend getting the sea bass special before they run out. The ambiance is nice, nothing spectacular but it is clean, and nice. Only negative I would say is that they seem to always be out of the wine we order, if they never have it, i would recommend them to take it off the menu. Other than that, nothing bad to say.

De Novelli's ("De N's") is a Rocky Hill Italian restaurant that serves things such as pasta, chicken, veal, seafood, classic Italian dishes and riffs on classics. The inside is nice enough that you might have a family dinner there, but it's not super fancy. In my visits, I've noticed that they have a popular bar area as well. They also presently have a tented outdoor seating area. I don't know the owners, but De N's feels like a family-run business. My takeout service this week was timely, friendly and attentive. I have a good impression of the dine-in service from a couple prior visits. I ordered eggplant parm for dinner. It was good. There were a few pieces layered like a lasagna with traditional style red sauce, mozzarella and ricotta. The sauce was tasty and had good thickness. The cheeses were on point. I prefer my eggplant a bit crispier, but it was substantial and De N's did a solid job. What did Creamy Marinara say when Pasta was staring into space? Penne for your thoughts. #dadjoke I appreciated that the red sauce for the penne was slightly different It was creamier and very good. The meal came with a complimentary salad. It was fairly standard, but I enjoyed it. Four Stars for a good meal and takeout experience.

I have no idea how I haven't added a review of one of our favorite restaurants, Denovellis. We found this place a couple of years ago and have been regulars ever since. We often meet friends or family who live in the area Yesterday, we met up with a couple of our daughters for dinner. Firstly, let me say coming here is like visiting extended family. They are always so welcoming and accommodating. If you plan on visiting on the weekend, please do yourself a favor and get a reservation, it's always busy. Dinner starts with a basket of bread and a plate of cheese slices and roasted peppers. Enjoy as you browse the extensive menu. Drinks from the bar are always well made. Don't forget to check out the specials menu as well. We ordered the fried calamari for an app. Its always fresh and crisp and served with a nice marinara sauce. We made our dinner selections and enjoyed the evening. As usual, the place was packed, but service is efficient and friendly. Dinners started with a nice house salad. It's not huge but definitely fresh and crisp. Our daughters both chose the chicken parm for dinner. The breaded cutlets are big and accompanied with marinara and cheese on top but not drowning in it. I got the chicken picatta, which was served hot with 3 large cutlets covered in garlic,capers,spinach,sun dried tomatoes, and artichoke hearts in a nice lemon butter sherry wine sauce..absolutely delicious. My wife got 2 meatballs with extra sauce and a nice Ceasar salad to put them on. A word about the meatballs, they are huge, tender, and super tasty. Our meals were also served with a pasta side of ziti in a very cheese forward marinara. I always bring mine home for a big treat the next day. We were stuffed from our meals yesterday so dessert wasn't an option but do yourself a favor and save room for the pistachio tiramasu. It's one of our favorite desserts and made fresh in house.

They have a very nice and friendly staff that are always willing to give a suggestion or input on a meal.The inside is very nice and fancy. Food is very good, the Chicken Parm is a staple for any Italian restaurant, I judge my Italian restaurants off of how they perfect this dish. When I got it I was blown away they have great portion sizes and a amazing sauce.

After passing by this restaurant on a daily basis I decided to try it out for dinner. The service was fantastic. Leslie was our waitress and she was wonderful! We started off with the fried calamari for an appetizer. It was cooked to perfection and delicious. The fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp was very good and so was the Buffalo chicken pizza. We will probably be regulars now.

I frequently eat here/order takeout. My usual order is the Mediterranean shrimp pasta because it is just so good. The sauce is creamy and light with great flavor. I've had other meals as well such as veal parm grinder, penne alla vodka, carbonara. Never had a bad meal here!

Sat at the bar. If you are not a regular beware your service will stink! Could not catch the eye of a waiter or waitress as they swooned over their regular clientele. Not coming back.

My wife and I were huge fans of "Denovellis by the Shore" (Clinton, CT) . It was our favorite night-out place; we went there frequently and brought friends and family to share. Loved everything about it - food, staff, floating double-door dividers, venue. (It closed in 2021) We were hoping they broke the curse of that Clinton venue (at least a half a dozen restaurants died there before "DeNo"s took it on). Whether they did or not, they closed a couple years ago and after some time, we went (3X) to their Rocky Hill restaurant . YES! It's still Denovellis! We missed the caponetta with the bread basket, but their other bread-soaker-uppers are great, too. My Manhattan was absolutely perfect (as was my wife's cosmos)- consistent with both Denovelli restaurant incarnations (same bartender??). The Chicken DeNo and Piccata were what we expected and hoped for - which we both savored. It's hard not to order, despite so many other choices. The wait staff were great, too! They're just a little bit further now, but not so much so that we need to find a new favorite restaurant.

Food was tremendous. The best I've had in the area. Authentic Italian food. Our waiter was great and very knowledgeable. I definitely will be back.

I popped into denovellis for lunch and the parking lot was packed which is always a good sign of a great restaurant. I got inside and sat in the lounge. Shelly was amazing she was completely business but so polite and kind. I ordered the mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings and a sausage and pepperoni small pizza. Let me start by saying the food came out PIPING HOT. I love when this happens because I get plenty of time to enjoy my apps and I have enough time to get photos without my food getting cold. The mozzarella sticks are big and full of gooey cheese. The buffalo wings were my favorite. I would actually come back strictly for these. They were perfectly seasoned, spicy and absolutely juicy. The portion is great too. The pizza was delicious. The crust is what really sold me I don't like a crust that you can't easily bit into and this was perfect. I will definitely be back to try them again!

Very nice place. Food is amazing. It's busy so prepare to wait on some nights but its worth it. I've had the pizza, the grinders and even the dinners, everything is delicious. Friendly service.

Our first time ordering take out from this place and it was like any other average restaurant. The food was hot and ready at the exact time we where told. The portions are huge, my whole family has enough for dinner again tomorrow night. My chicken caesar salad was great, just like any other salad no complaints there. The side of penne alla vodka was huge, was grateful for that. It didn't taste like vodka sauce though, don't get me wrong it was alright I've just had better at other places. Based off the quality and taste of the food, the price wasn't worth it. It's a nice traditional restaurant, but would go to another place for better, cheaper Italian food.

I had the prime rib and it was a perfect medium rare! I'll definitely get that again. Tried a large pizza another time and it was great also. I do like that they cut it into squares rather than the triangle cut.

We had a delicious anniversary dinner here. For appetizers we had the Clams Casino and Calamari. For entrees I had the Chicken Francaise and my husband the Veal Parmesan. The food was absolutely scrumptious. Everything was flavorful and well cooked. We will definitely be back!

A bit hesitant at first because of location in a little strip mall.... people, never ever judge a book by its cover!!! So cute and welcoming. You can sit in the bar area or dining room; we sat in bar area...(and btw, people waiting for the place to open in parking lot!!) could not have been a better experience. Cheese, peppers and bread before our meal. Then the meal!!! Omg! Besides the wonderful aroma and fantastic taste, the portions were ridiculous!!! I had my leftovers for 3 days!!! I will be more than happy to go back. HOME RUN!!!!

The Cod pasta dish with the spicy red sauce is just amazing. But then again so is every single dish I've ever had here. It doesn't matter what age or background, there's something delicious here for everyone. Good, hot food and good service brings customers back. Can't wait for my next visit. Thanks

We needed food for a big round number birthday party with 50 guests, so we turned to Denovellis because we enjoyed their food at the restaurant. It turned out to be a great decision; the owner helped with selecting the food and the quantity and even added an item not regularly on the menu at the request of the birthday "boy". On the day of the party, the food was ready on time and delicious - what leftovers we had, guests were thrilled to take home.

Been coming to Denovellis for years.... back when they were located on the Silas Deanne Hwy. Like the new location. Parking can be an issue at times. The updated space is more with the times. I see some mixed reviews.... ?...I've never found the hostess or staff to be rude at all... quite the opposite really. The waitstaff have been friendly, engaging and knowledgeable each time we've frequented Denovellis. The food was without question delicious and the cocktails are on point. We will continue to enjoy this restaurant and suggest you try it for yourself.

The ambience is nice and comfy. Service was slow but not too slow, the waiter was busy with other tables. The food is good, appetizers are good, but the pasta could be a little salty, my rigatoni was a little soupy, but someone i went with got the same thing but his wasn't soupy, assuming it's cause it was busy. overall good food good vibes, not gonna rave about it tho !

This spot is pretty awesome! I've been coming here on and off for various reasons for about three years, with a wide variety of friends. Today was the first meal I've had with a younger waiter (Krist). I didn't order my usual (chicken casa loma [to be discussed later]). He was very kind and patient. My child is around his age and I encouraged him to keep at it and continue to keep growing. While I'm thankful for the elders, there comes a time when the young people need to learn the trade. I only inquired about the server's age because when asked "would we like to start with some drinks, I said "ABSOsmurdly". It snowballed from there. There was another young lady with blond pixi hair who came over so much later, sh was a lot of fun and very helpful as well. It was a very odd day for me to go there, I had a wonderful time and the staff was great in this day. Thanks Krist & Chef Dave and the rest of the background crew for helping this Lioness have a continued birthday celebration! imma need some spicy brown mustard to stocked in the back for my grinder! . (It's a joke, relax some of you uptight Yelp reviewers) CLARICEG -------------- Chicken casa loma- roasted (is says sautéd looks and taste to me like roasted) chicken (thighs & legs or breast meat), hot Italian cherry peppers, garlic.
