Depot delivered an exceptional meal with standout service and beautifully executed food. From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, creating a relaxed but polished dining experience.
We began with the roasted veal tongue, which was a highlight. The tongue was incredibly tender, slow-roasted to perfection, and paired thoughtfully with its accompaniments to balance richness with freshness. It was deeply savoury, comforting, and expertly handled — a dish that shows real confidence in technique.
For sharing, we ordered the sole, grilled asparagus, and cucumber salad, and each dish complemented the others perfectly. The sole was delicate and impeccably cooked, letting the natural sweetness of the fish shine, with minimal but precise seasoning. The asparagus was grilled just right, bringing out its smokiness while maintaining bite, enhanced by subtle acidity and texture from the garnishes. The cucumber dish added a refreshing contrast — crisp, clean, and well-balanced, cutting through the richer flavours on the table.
Overall, the food was simple yet refined, ingredient-driven, and confidently executed — exactly what Depot does best. Combined with excellent service and a lively atmosphere, it’s easy to see why Depot remains one of Auckland’s top dining spots.
