Beautiful desserts! Very delightful place especially on a cold rainy fall day in Berlin. The staff is welcoming and cheerful. The espresso is one of the best I have had in Berlin. The deserts are large which makes them great for sharing. The place is very popular at lunch time and it does accept reservations. There is also covered sidewalk dining with blankets to shield you from the cold.

If friends want to spent a traditional cake time and you are celiac then you can have one too at this place. They offer at least one glutenfree choice. The Mallorca almond cake comes with a chocolate ganache which is very sweet, the cake itself a bit dry. But at least you can eat a gluten-free cake at the table. Service is nice and well aware.

Google
A must-visit for dessert lovers as they have large variety of cakes. The red velvet cake is one of the best. Chocolate cakes tastes average. The atmosphere is nice but mostly crowded.

Average tarts and torte in Berlin! Great service ,sitting outside in one of the most historic streets in Berlin! Got the berries tart, which was fresh but just ok with a. Lot of Gelatine and a cream that needs a lot of work! Will go back again to try few more

Google
Nice cosy cafe with a huge variety of cakes. Our cake was fresh, delicious and not too sweet which is what we like. The coffees were surprisingly good as well. Recommend a visit if you’re feeling like something sweet.

The owners are friendly and service is good. Quality of the cakes is hit or miss. We had cake there as a dine-in and it was totally decent. Then I decided to buy a whole small red velvet layer cake. The cake was beautiful and it was available on walk-in to the shop -- the convenience alone was a huge factor for me; most cake shops want 1-2 *weeks* of lead time for a whole cake these days. The price was high, sure, but not in any way unreasonable relative to the broader market for such cakes. The sponge of the red velvet cake, however, was a big letdown. It was crumbly and dry, not merely delicate -- it fell apart into a heap as it was sliced. That's hard to excuse at the price I paid. Perhaps the cake sat too long in the refrigerator, I don't know. Or maybe their sponge was overbaked. Either way, I probably wouldn't buy a whole cake here again.

Yelp
They have really nice cakes for a fair price. They are all homemade and very delicious. For my taste they still look a tiny bit too clumsy and this is why I can't give 5 stars (I am crazy picky when it comes to cakes). The staff was really nice though and thought I'd share that massive piece of cake. Hah... as if.

Yelp
Perhaps my expectations were set too high for Der Kuchenladen, but I was a bit disappointed. From outside, it looks absolutely amazing--beautifully decorated cakes beckon to you from the window, and all the pastel yellows, blues, greens, and pink welcome you into confectionery heaven. Inside, it feels a bit like you're in a vanilla and strawberry cake--and I mean this in the best possible way. The seats are comfy, the tables decorated with flowers, and there's lively chatter all around. Definitely five stars for atmosphere. The cakes, however, left much to be desired. The two of us shared a slice of Schokolade Mousse and a slice of Tiroler Apfeltarte. The mousse was much harder than I expected (it seemed a bit old), and the chocolate flavor was good but certainly not mind-blowing. The outer edge of the cake (don't know if there's an actual term for this), however, was top-notch. It was sprinkled with something toffee-like but I couldn't figure out what it was. The Tiroler Apfeltarter was an apple tart covered with nuts and seeds. Seemed interesting, but wasn't as good of a combination as we expected. It probably would've been better warm. OVERALL: Great atmosphere (5-stars for sure) Overrated cake (3-star quality) Moderate price (around 3 euros to go, ~3,50 euro per slice eating there)

Yelp
This place has a fun atmosphere. Located in the heart of downtown Berlin. It was a pleasant 20 minute walk from our hotel and totally worth the trip. Friendly staff and tasty desserts. Large selection too.

Yelp
Wow, I was amazed by the choice of cakes they have and how good they all were. It's worth coming from the other side of the city just for this.

Yelp
delicious to eat in, but I will never order a cake from them, as they just don't do what they asked in the order. Instead of all chocolate with full raspberry inside, I was presented with cacao sugar topping-which no one was able to cut, as it was gooey and sticky, like chewing gum, berry gem, vanilla/raspberry/chocolate soufflé base. But the money they took as for the full chocolate cake.

Yelp
Gateaux, Cake, Kuchen, Torte! Take your pick of 20 or so proper cakes. A large slice will set you back €3.50 - €4 and a coffee around €2.50 - €3.50. We had a traditional german baked cheese cake (kasekuchen), strawberry torte and a creamy nut gateaux. All fantastically sweet and washed down with coffee. You may not finish them, but that's ok. They supply boxes for just such an episode. In fact most of the custom was for take-out cake to the locals of this vibrant Kantstraße neighbourhood. It's just a short walk from Savignyplatz, so no excuse that it's off the beaten track, but you'll have to wait a couple of hours before filling your belly again.

Yelp
This little cafe is very attractive with its front window and the colorfull metal chairs in front of the entrance. Although it would have been nice to sit outside, we decided to sit inside since the weather was a little bit chilly. When you enter the place, fresh butter smell blows your mind off and the only intention is to taste the delicious things in the window. However I was longing for apple tart and found this place from the internet. All the kishes, pastries and tarts seem soo delicious by accompanying the smell of fresh butter. We ordered apple tart and coffee. All of them were very delicious. The people around me also seemed very happy with the food they were having. Especially the old lady sitting next to our table started with a big slice of cake with cream and then continued with a slice of spinach kish. I don't know which will be the next, since you can understand how happy she was from her face while eating. Yes I must say that if I were a Berliner, this place would have been one of my favourite place to meet, to chat a friend accompanied delicious and blissfull food. The last thing to mention regarding the place was the pink napkins which I liked a lot. These little things also make people happy, or change his/her mood immediately.

Yelp
Been a min. since I been here but the cakes taste the same. They are so many choices and assortment of cakes to choose from, traditional German cream tortes, coffee cakes, cheescakes, so many to choose from. Most I have tried are great. I have had the tortes mainly which are decadent but not too sweet sometime I get a not so fresh piece which sucks as it is hard one side. Coffee is good and the tea assortment is loose leaf. I come here when I need a sweet treat and don't feel like baking myself. Most of the time it's busy so you may have to wait to seat your self but if you do it's worth the wait. Yummmm

Yelp
Delicious pastries, delicately prepared, just the right amount of sweetness. Rich and decadent.

Yelp
Adorable cake cafe. I tried Adele's torte. The flavors were good but not to strong. They had a great assortment of cakes and cheesecakes.

Yelp
Awesome place for cakes, coffee and muffins. Small place with limited seating but good service and relaxing atmosphere. Try the Creme Brülee cake. Wow, really tasty. Coffee was really good too.

Yelp
Der Kuchenladen (translates The Cake Shop) is a lovely café with the kind of homemade cake selection that would make the Mad Hatter drool. Sweet place to sit in and gossip with friends but thankfully not at all twee, enjoy a cup of tea with a slice of their Manhattan Queen, a cheese cake extraordinaire a delicate topping of basil-infused sugar gives it the X-factor. Yelp
