Der Steirer

A busy restaurant – upon my arrival it was already full of guests. I offered to come back later, but at my request they found me a table in a quiet corner. That was very positive. The atmosphere is pleasant – a modern yet simple and elegant setting, exactly what such a bistro should deliver with so many guests. Although the service is bustling, the waiters still pay attention to every guest, and I always received a warm smile. The food is exceptional, a true reflection of Austrian gastronomy. Everything is prepared and presented just as a guest would expect: delicious, homely, soul-warming dishes with a touch of French elegance. The dill and the fish, served with its own caviar, already establish the chef’s signature. And if you still have doubts… try the schnitzel… and finally the apfelstrudel! When I left, I felt love and respect in my heart. That doesn’t usually happen. I recommend it to everyone!

Food was amazing and the staff were even better! Traditional cuisine and a good wine selection too. Great, relaxed atmosphere and the puddings were next level! I had a perfect creme Brulee! 10/10

Excellent food! Made a reservation through Google (very convenient), and had a great meal! Wiener Schnitzel (veal), a very good hausbier and a wonderful apple strudel- all so very tasty! I’m glad I was staying next door so I could enjoy this restaurant!

Great spot, thought it would be super busy, but it had many free spots. Recommend coming before six for a guaranteed spot. Their fried chicken was very juicy, we took the mushroom soup too, it was very different from the classical cream soups, it had pieces of potatoes and mushrooms. It was very comforting and cozy.

Great dining experience! We wanted to avoid a touristy spot and really enjoyed having dinner alongside the locals. I booked a table through Google, and the confirmation was prompt. The atmosphere was relaxed, yet the service was classy and professional—with real candles on the tables, cloth napkins, and uniformed waiters. We ordered the goulash, (the real veal) schnitzel, and their Styrian fried chicken—all dishes were delicious. I also recommend their lavender-infused water.

A charming, well-appointed restaurant serving excellent food. Unfortunately, our dining experience was marred by perfunctory—bordering on rude—service. The maître d’ was friendly and welcoming, and offered us a glass of bubbly whilst we waited for our table. Unfortunately, our waiter was very brusque, always walking away before we had finished speaking or even, in one case, before hearing our full order! It was subsequently incorrect. The food was nonetheless very good.

While in Graz on business, we decided to have dinner at this wonderful restaurant our first night in Graz Austria. It is connected to the hotel we stayed at, which was also wonderful, The Hotel Weitzer. A great hotel and a simply wonderful and amazing Restaurant. Our business host in Graz, had recommended this hotel and restaurant to us. And we were all very impressed with the food and drinks at Der Steirer. I had the Backhendl and it was simply awesome. One of my coworkers had the Weiner Schnitzel and he said it was unbelievable and it looked amazing. Several desserts were ordered but be sure to order the Strudel and the crème Brûlée. We recently celebrated a special occasion at Der Steirer in Graz, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The atmosphere was wonderfully cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening for two. The food was absolutely delicious, offering authentic Styrian cuisine prepared with care and packed with flavor. The service was attentive and friendly. We highly recommend Der Steirer for anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable dining experience in Graz. We'll definitely be back!

Super authentic Austrian cuisine. This place is usually very busy so make sure you reserve ahead of time. Food is delicious and staff is super friendly.

This is the highest rated resto in town, and it's easy to see why: Great food, huge portions, great service and a thoughtful wine list! The styrian tapas make a great starter, the mixed salad was typically overdressed with pumpkin oil (but very tasty!) and my chicken was divine!!!

Food was outstanding! Beef Goulash and veal schnitzel were both great choices! Plan on a little more time for this delicious food to be prepared.

Without a doubt, one of the absolute nicest restaurants in Graz, and in Steria. The food is absolutely spectacular. All homemade and delicious. The service is beyond belief. I'm always treated very kindly. It usually starts with a complementary glass or two of champagne. I always try to go for their specialty... The fried chicken! it does not fail, ever! :-) The interior is laid out so beautifully, especially the room with about 3000 bottles of wine in the walls. It is an absolute must for anybody that wants to go out to dinner for an evening and congrats. Recommendations are highly recommended. They have a giant guestbook, and let me tell you, it fills up quickly.

We're here from the USA. We walked in one evening around 5:30. There were empty seats throughout the entire restaurant. We approached the host; he asked us if we had reservations, and we said no. Despite there being a plethora of empty seating, the host refused to seat us. I would NEVER recommend such an establishment! We are an affluent older couple in our 50's and 60's, and we're surprised at this treatment.

Local food, fresh taste, gorgeous restaurant. I had the weiner schnitzel, and was told this is the REAL one, made of veal. Not the fake one of pork. And I have to say, the taste was way better! The restaurant has cute and funny phrases all over, making it an entertaining and quirky atmosphere. My coworkers explained that the food was all local, even the sodas and juices we ordered! The waiter was kind enough to bring me a menu in English, which was very helpful. I'd love to go back!

We love the wine and food selections. We had made a reservation and were seated at a small corner table at entran ce of the back room - we will request something by window or in front next time otherwise a good experience.

Very delicious and nice atmosphere restaurant. We have been in Graz for a week and this restaurant is far the Best Austrian restaurant in Graz for us. Price is also reasonable, waiters are very nice too!!! We enjoyed Austrian local dishes very much in here. グラーツで食べたオーストリア料理のレストランの中では、ダントツ1番美味しかった。しかも値段もお手頃。

The best fried chicken in #Graz. It's called "Backhendl" at the Steirer. Staff a little insensitive which could be worked on.

One of the best restaurants in Graz. Very delicately prepared tables. Very good service and almost very good food. Good to be here.

The quality of food is good but the tapas portions are really tiny. So if you are going for dinner, you need to order some real food too.:-) The wine selection is fantastic and diverse. The menu changes often and has seasonal food, the only problem is there's almost no vegetarian option for the main dishes.

Der Steirer was one of the highlights of my visit to Graz! Everything we ordered was perfect, the waitress was friendly, attentive, and helpful when we needed advice. Excellent wine. The atmosphere is relaxed and trendy. A perfect evening!

Disappointment! The service is good, enviroment is nice. You can smoke and sit by window.But these windows are unopenable. The Lambfillet what I ordered isn't tasty at all. To be fair, the lamb is tender, but protion is so less(max. 250g). I don't know why, that asparagus tasted so bitter. And the whole dish cost €23.90! Totally not worth it !!!

I have been there (again!) today with my son. We were pleased by the quality of food and its authentic preparation: the famous styrian Tapas, the main dish (typical Goulash) the sweet dishes and wine selection all marvellous. Really a place where you love to comeback. However: think about reserving a table, this place is pretty crowded! At present my favourite restaurant!
