We came early around 5:15pm and managed to nab a table in the dining hall right next to the fireplace. The food was great in quality and value. It was cold though! The $45 steak was great. The kids fish and chips $16.50 and kids steak was good $16.50 and came with vanilla ice cream. It was only the sticky date pudding that looked a bit sad.

This place is so awesome. You must stop. We were here in Winter. There was snow everywhere. I am so impressed. Food. Customer experience was all 100%

The atmosphere here is terrific. Middle of nowhere and there is not much competition about but we were very happy to come into a nice warm hotel with beautiful food served up. It's a bit expensive, but we were staying the night on their block, so I figured it was only fair to eat here also. The fireplaces were roaring, and the lodge like construction was beautiful. Mains dinner meals are mid-30s, and a pint and a glass of wine is $30.

Huge and delicious meals, great place to have a meal and a drink by open fire. Park the caravan in carpark overnight and enjoy!!

Staff were fantastic, we were late in driving up from Hobart but staff kept the kitchen open for us. The seafood chowder and spare ribs were fantastic. Atmosphere lovely and open fire place is enormous!! Well worth a stop over on your way to Strahan

Could actually be a brilliant experience if the main bar attendant was pleasant towards the public instead of being rude and patronising. Ordered the seafood chowder which had no visible seafood and was told it was North American style which wasn’t stated. When I complained, the kitchen staff were more than happy to substitute for another meal but I was asked by the bar attendant if I had been to N.A and that’s how it’s done. Very rude and arrogant and I will definitely tell people not to bother to stop. I am however looking forward to a proper chowder up the East coast and will not let this experience put me off the otherwise friendly people of Derwent Bridge.

Being the off season we weren’t sure about if the website hours would be correct, we phoned up to book a table for us while we were driving from a few hours away, they weren’t staying open til when we were due to arrive however they so kindly offered to have our meals ready in takeaway plus drinks, we camped the night out the front (self contained vehicles allowed), there was a toilet block across the road too. The meals were lovely, and inside looked like a beautiful warm atmosphere to enjoy a meal and a drink if you get the chance

Yelp
Easy to see they don't rely on repeat business. Had high hopes when they say their signature dish is a steak one (King Billy). I didn't need that much (or to spend $57!) but chose the porterhouse. With only 3 other tables on a Sunday night it took over 30-mins to serve us and 'blamed' the porterhouse as the reason! It came out presented very strangely and absolutely flooded by broccoli and cauliflower and drowning in a pepper sauce you couldn't really taste. The pork belly was burnt (although crunchy) and came with a Sri Lankan rice and the same vegetables as the porterhouse which seemed strange,

Yelp
Yum. Just yum. Fair prices, awesome building. Expected high prices and sub par food for a place that can easily lock you in. Not so. Super warm from the massive double sided open fire place. Very scenic. Love it!

Yelp
Pretty cool place. Surprisingly good food for what feels like the middle of nowhere. I have been surprised at how pricey dinners are out in the rural areas of Tassie. But the options here are pretty good. The dinner menu was on a chalkboard near the massive brick fireplace. Several good meat and potato options shared by our group. The dining area is a large and vaulted and feels like a hunting lodge. Very relaxed comfortable place to both eat and stay as you travel through Tasmania.
