We ordered the day’s specials and they were all exceptional. The service was warm and personalized. The restaurant is cozy yet not loud. We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in Paris!

I went to this restaurant two times when I was visiting Paris, France with a friend of mine in February 2017. A colleague of mine who is French, told me I should go to this restaurant. I took her recommendation and was impressed! The food was fantastic! All that I can remember what we ate when we went to the restaurant was the hamburger and we also ordered the Crème brûlée. I would recommend making a reservation a head of time because it is a very popular place to go. When we went twice every table was full and there was a line outside of the restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant as one of my top five places to go.

Google
Cozy, great food, great ambience, great wine but the staff is the highest point.. Jean Yves is the BEST! Strongly recommended if you are in Marais and looking for a good dinner without snob and blaze Paris staff. Great value for money 166 euros with starters, main course for 2.. wine bottle, water and shared dessert. Must go.

The food was awesome with great wine (nice prices for the wine) and good atmosphere. Local vibe!

Google
We stumbled across this true gem of a restaurant while browsing Le Marais and we couldn’t have been happier ! The atmosphere and staff were fun, friendly, and cozy ! The food was delicious and they had a great selection of wine. We had to leave suddenly (too soon to have dessert) to make our ticket time for Notre Dame but the staff took care of our friend and she had an outstanding time. We can’t wait to visit ces gars et leurs cuisine encore !!

Google
Friendly, helpful, service with delicious food and perfect pacing. We shared an appetizer and each had a main. Nice portions, interesting creativity. Typically we don’t have desert but we wanted to prolong our stay a bit and enjoyed the food so much and couldn’t decide but the owner gave us a taste of the second choice! Perfect end to a wonderful meal.

Google
The whole deal - 5 stars across the board. The waiter/owner(?) is so kind and welcoming. The window seats set the tone for a great dinner in scenic surroundings. The tartare and pavlov were the best I've ever had, ever. My wife is in love with the burrata and artichoke entree.

Google
I had a wonderful night here and would definitely recommend it! I particularly enjoyed the special dishes of the day, a fillet steak and a cauliflower soup with caviar! So the desert was great and quite generous!

Yelp
My favorite dinner experience this visit to Paris. Colleagues had highly recommended and called ahead and made reservations for the two of us. Upon arrival, they were clearing off our table, so we waited briefly at the bar. The ambiance is intimate with soft candle lighting. It's perfect for a quiet evening out. Jean-Jacques Delaval seated us next to the window and for the rest of the night was our guide and perfect host. We had a view of the guests exiting a gala across the street. Wine: good selection and we ordered a bottle of Bordeaux Starter: Scallops Entree: Filet de boeuf Fresh ingredients with traditional, yet some twist to preparation. Excellent ambiance, wine, food and service. A fabulous dinner.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this restaurant in 2019! Great food, great neighborhood and amazing owners. I am recommending this place to my friends traveling to Paris in January 2023

Yelp
Simply delicious food. Ate a lunch and dinner there and still wanted more. Asked the waiter to pair wines for us and he did an outstanding job. Discovered after first meal that it has received a Michelin star the last two years.

Yelp
Small, intimate restaurant, with quality food and a cute atmosphere. The sea bass was good, albeit a little heavy on the olive oil. The monkfish linguine was light, delicious and perfectly cooked.

Yelp
Bottom Line - The food was prepared well, the waiter was more than nice and I would totally come back. My friends and I did a little research for dinner and saw a blog that mentioned how this place had a good burger with foie gras, so my friends and I came for dinner on Friday, 20 May 2011. Without reservations, we inquired about a table. We were told about 20-30 minutes, which was perfect. So we stood outside contently waiting when the waiter brought us each a glass of white pear wine. Whoa! We have to wait for a table, now! So we ordered the following: Ris D'Agneau (€12.50, Samossa) - This starter came with two samossas. The wrapping was similar to an egg roll wrapper, but it was very tasty. I'd order it again. Soupe (€10.00, Gazpacho) - My friend ordered this. It was a melon gazpacho. I had a taste, and it was really soothing. At the time, I thought this would be a nice dish to end the meal on since it was fruity but not too sweet. L Idee Du Jour (€16.00, White Asparagus in Mushroom Sauce) - This was fantastic! I loved the mushroom sauce... we all dipped the bread in the remaining sauce. The Asparagus were huge and slightly sweet. Loved this dish. Plat du Jour (€24.00 x2) - The special was a pork "mignon," and two of my friends ordered this. It was served with celery mash, and this dish was excellent. I had a bite, and wow, the pork was SO tender. I was slightly jealous that I did not order it. Cabillaud (€24.00, white sole w/ chorizo and fresh mint) - This was my dish. I was looking for something not too heavy, and this one hit the mark. The fish was cooked well, and the flesh came out smooth and silky. I'm not sure the chorizo went well with the dish, but that didn't stop me from eating it all. Hamburger BALT (€18.50) - My friend ordered this and liked it very much. He managed to finish it. We ordered three desserts (€9.00 x3) which included a tiramisu with nutella meringue, profiteroles and the desert du jour, which was a berry soup with wasabi sorbet... the berry soup with wasabi sorbet was by far our favourite, and I wanted to order another one. Along with two bottles of sparkling mineral water (€6.50) and a glass of wine (€4.00), our bill came to €171.50 for the 5 of us.

Yelp
Five stars hands down. The décor is simple: somber and wooden with low lighting and dark tiles against the bar in the back. We got a table for two next to the window, with a charming window seat that could have easily been used by a third person (at the beginning of the meal I almost wished there were a third person in that seat, or at least a heater to block out the cold, but I soon warmed up). We started with a glass of crémant, both subtle and crisp. I had the ris de veau, pan-fried with crisp edges and smothered in a caramelized soy sauce with long oyster mushrooms. It was (and I really hesitate here, because I don't like using all capitals for emphasis) FANTASTIC. My partner almost wanted to swap his entrée when he tasted mine. He had the foie gras with frisée salad and slivers of mango in a porto-cognac reduction (the "salade folle au foie gras"), which was amazing in its own right. I don't usually go for ris de veau, but I am so thankful I did. Our main courses were the scallops with vegetables julienne in a creamy broth, and the wild boar with turnip purée and a molé-like sauce. Both were excellent, but I preferred my scallops to his dish. All went down well with a bottle of the 2009 Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. The only thing I wasn't so crazy about (and my friend who recommended this is now shaking his head) was the pavlova dessert. It was a giant meringue (the menu said it was chocolate, but it tasted like plain, unsugared egg whites) sitting atop pear slices with dots of passionfruit syrup. I took a few bites (to get to the white chocolate mousse that was apparently part of the dessert, but I couldn't distinguish it from the meringue), and started thinking of the Amorino hazelnut gelato down the street. The staff was kind and good-natured, friendly but not intrusive. They added to our wonderful romantic dinner experience. I'm excited to come back for the brunch and the lunch menu. And maybe another time for dinner before the spring menu is announced, so I can have the ris de veau once more...

Yelp
A jewel in the Marais sector of Paris! This restaurant is new in 2008, and has already established a reputation for delectible and seasonal fresh takes on French cooking. The lunch menu offers a 2 dish selction for only 14 euros. A terrific bargain for such wonderful food. I am spoiled by ordering all three plates (entree and plate and dessert) a la carteso as not to miss an enticing morsel. The brunch is 22 to 24 euros, and is very popular. The brunch bio with the eggs and salmon is a 24 euros, but well worth it for the salad, yogurt, fruit salad, dessert and other goodies you get along with the eggs and salmonand you don't have to feel guilty for eating the main brunch farethe Gars Burger Brunch.mmmmmmm!!!! There are also a few items at brunch available a la carte. Dinner is also a pleasure in this intimate and beautifully modern environment, with stone walls and elegant furnishings and decor.and the food! You must see and eat it to believe. I enjoy the seasonally fresh ingredients that the chefs (the Gars) incorporate into the offerings. Superb! '(¿)

Fabulous restaurant with great atmosphere, right, friendly and entertaining staff, and delicious food. One of our favorite nights in Paris.

Yelp
The bread is great. The crab ravioli appetizer was very good. The asparagus appetizer with Parmesan cheese and ham was pretty good, but parts of the asparagus were not cooked quite enough. My steak came out rare rather than medium, but they fixed that quickly. My partner's linguini with clams was just okay; it had whole garlic cloves throughout, which was too much. Some of the clams weren't opened, which isn't acceptable. Our friend's lamb seemed to be great. The desserts were good but not good enough to justify the prices. Three people served us at one time or another. The first person to help us spoke fluent English. The person who took our food order did not. I don't hold it against a French restaurant not to offer English-language service, but once it has been established that a customer speaks French poorly, why not have the member of the wait staff who speaks English take the order? All of the staff were very friendly. One was perhaps too familiar. He spent a significant amount of time seated on the banquette next to me, talking to the guys at the next table. Not my business. But he also spent time crouched between our table and theirs, with his arm on our table to steady himself! Another of the staff comped my coffee when it took him longer than he thought it should to bring it to me. The sound system played hits from the late 70s, which I love. The lighting was unique. The decor was both vibrant and soothing. The tile in the bathroom was beautiful. The overall atmosphere was very good. The vast majority of the clientele was gay (as am I). There was a bit of a "scene" vibe to the place. We had a good time, and would go back if we're in the area again. But the food and service needs some tweaking to match the pricing. BTW, today was a bank holiday, and it's possible our experience wasn't typical.

Yelp
It is hard to capture how truly special our experience was at -- or rather with -- Des Gars dans la Cuisine. This gorgeous little place has created something truly unique: a high end culinary experience that feels at the same time intimate, warm, cozy and charming. My wife and I ate at this exceptional treasure on the final night of our beautiful honeymoon in Paris. And during our week full of adventures, this night rated as one of the loveliest. The food is beautiful, both to look at and to eat. Every bite -- from the bread through to the dessert-- was delicious. Our server (whose name I wish I remembered) was delightful -- funny, charming, literally singing as he brought us our food. We felt as if an old friend had invited us to the most elegantly home cooked meal you can imagine. When we finally left (which we did not want to do) our server and one of the owners kissed us and hugged us goodbye. A truly perfect farewell to Paris, for now!

Yelp
If you're in the Marais, Des gars dans la cuisine is definitely one of the coolest place to go have a brunch on Sunday. The spirit is cool and laid-back and on top of that, the brunch is excellent with good prices. I recommend it!

Yelp
Found this amazing restaurant a block and a half from our rental in Marais. Experienced great hospitality and fantastic cuisine. My wife and I ate here on our second day in Paris and haven't found anything close to the quality that this place offers. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The food is excellent, the atmosphere is outstanding, and the service is perfect. The owner is one of the two servers, and he takes great pride in caring for his customers. I think we arrived at 8:30PM and didn't end up leaving until close to midnight. Between the multiple courses, great conversation (at the table and with the staff), and numerous after dinner drinks, it made for a great experience. The turbot was simple, but masterfully prepared and the gazpacho was too good. My friends had the Caesar Salad with prawns and the steak (rib eye or something). I'm not one for a salad as dinner, but the steak looked amazing. The pavlova for dessert was excellent. Like so many other restaurants (and everything else) in Paris, there's no air conditioning, but it made the experience feel that much more authentic. Sitting at a window-side table with a view of a residence from another time (I think it's the National Archives now or something...) you really feel like this is what Paris is for those who live there. It was a wonderful experience, and one that I will be sure to repeat every single time I return (which may end up being a lot).

Yelp
My first day in Paris, we arrived right at noon. By the time we got to our accommodations on the same street, put our bags down and got ready to go out to eat lunch, it was already past 2. We walked down the busy street on a Sunday and found this place able accommodate four plus a stroller (with a kid in it^^). Other places either refuse us or simply didn't have room. But, boy am I glad that this was the place we just happened to eat at because we all were pleasantly surprised. My friends, native Parisians, also found the food fantastic which was nice to know when they said that they were pleasantly surprised at how fabulous the food was when we walked in at random, especially when Paris is known for its "gastronomie." We each ordered the brunch (which came with a hot drink and a dessert....be careful...some of the desserts like the cheesecake are an additional 3euro) for about 24 € a piece. Three of us ordered the Brunch Des Gars and my husband ordered the Brunch Bio. Brunch des gars: hamburger with LTO plus a delicious homemade aoli. the meat was cooked to perfection at a med rare and it was succulent and dreamy on a pretty regular sesame seed bun. Apparently the meat is from Swiss cows, and I've been through Switzerland the week before I came here so I know....Swiss cows are happy. Quite delicious. Back to the dish: it was served with a bed of mixed greens with a sweeter balsamic and a slice of pineapple and two slivers of watermelon. The cheesecake was velvety perfection; the best part was the graham cracker crust. I pretty much cleared my plate (the portions aren't small; I'm six months preggo) so I was too full to eat the rest of my dessert, but I ate the entire crust with a bit of cheesecake. Brunch Bio: Smoked salmon served on the same bed of mixed greens mentioned above, with brie, rice crackers, thin slice of pound cake type, steamed eggs, yogurt topped with granola, and the same fruit as above. Now I was really famished as I'd been walking around all day all over Europe so I knew I needed something hearty. Normally I'd do something like the brunch bio. Not only have I not been eating semi-cooked fish because of my pregnancy, but I was also about to walk around Paris and all the way up to Montmartre on foot...If you're going to just sit there and enjoy a lazy day, the brunch des gars is too much. But for me, it kept me fueled for my walk up to Sacré Coeur and around Montmartre to Gare du Nord. CUTE little ambiance with amazing food and great service (for Americans who don't speak French, the staff is competent in English and courteous). The only downsides were that it was a bit stuffy in there on a warm, sunny day and that their credit card machine wasn't working for either our US cards or my friends' French ones.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. The owners are fun and the cuisine was stellar. Would definitely go back again and recommend this place to friends.

Yelp
So good! The flavors! The wine! The staff! The ambience! We had the autumn salad and the special of the day which was a roast chicken leg over a mushroom sauce with mashed sweet potatoes. So fresh and so decadent. I want to come back again! I loved every minute of this beautiful and delicious restaurant!

Yelp
Great restaurant in the heart of the Marais! Decor is very warm but modern with light brown stone walls, comfy leather banks and cool lighting. Service was friendly and accomodating. All meals ordered were of fantastic quality and beautifully decorated - a real gourmet experience. While prices are rather high - starters around 11EUR, mains for around 19EUR - it's definetely worth it! Go there and be sure to have a very pleasant dining experience!

Yelp
Wandering and looking for lunch, found this place. Food was great, menu had a wonderful pasta, good value. Nice interior and feel, good service and friendly staff. Definitely worth it. I think we were their last lunch table but they were great.

Yelp
This place is home to my second-favorite steak in Paris, which usually comes with morel mushrooms and manioc fries. Yum.
google avatar

Yelp
Menu de la maison for lunch was skate dore, plus quail terrine with frize salad. Add a Luberon rose, and end with espresso - perfect! The place is decorated beautifully, and opens its banquettes that line cleanly exposed, Centuries old stone walls to the narrow street. Service is attentive, versatile, and happy. The mood's catchy. Loved it.

Yelp
Dinner Monday night but the restaurant is quite busy. Very parisian with a few offers for appetizers, entrees and desserts and several daily specials. I had the steak with parmesan, artichokes and potatoes. It was very big and delicious. My friends got the scallops and the risotto. Both were happy. For dessert, they got the charlotte with caramelized apples and I got the sorbets. We all shared a bottle of champagne Pommery (75 euros). It was a good dinner, prices are decent and service was ok.

Yelp
We had a spectacular meal at this restaurant. The food was creative and perfectly presented. The service was delightful, and the decor was chic. I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Walked by on a Saturday afternoon and asked if they could take 6 st the end of the evening after seeing opera Tosca. She was a bit put off but relented after telling me it would be difficult. We got there a bit late but the table was still clearing in any case. We waited outside with champagne in hand. Once we sat the service was great, the food amazing. Tried a bit of everyone's dinners at our table, standouts were the clams, the veal, the scallops and black rice. Desserts were okay. The gentleman who waited us was great, very French, very helpful, and he particularly liked we thought he looked like Daniel Craig. Great overall experience and felt like we got a bit of a peak into real Paris. May head back for brunch next!

Yelp
Great food! Warm and friendly service, ambience chic & gay... best ice-cream ever! One of my favourite restaurants in Paris!

Qype User (Ellie…)

Yelp
This place makes my favorite steak in Paris, and I've had quite a few by now. It's usually the "plat du jour" served with a morel sauce and manioc fries. Order it saigant and a bottle of their St. Estephe and you will be one happy camper. The appetizers are always inventive and they have Dyson hand dryers in the bathroom (the ones actually dry hands in 10 seconds). What else couldl you ask for?

Yelp
Nice restaurant located in the heart of Marais. Small menu but carefully selected and creative dishes, good service. Reservation in advance is recommended.
