"Desa Seni It’s hard to believe Desa Seni is only a short drive from the crowded beaches and shopping strips of North Kuta and Seminyak. Amid a lush landscape of native plants and waterways, the resort’s antique wooden homes are arranged around a saltwater pool like a tiny Hindu village and were imported, restored, and decorated with bright cushions and religious artifacts. Much of the land was dedicated to an organic farm, which today is responsible for almost 80 percent of Desa Seni’s produce. Sustainability standards seep into the recycling and composting programs, too, and eco-friendly glass straws and biodegradable cleaning products are used in place of harmful alternatives. In addition to the environmental and cultural experiences provided at Desa Seni, wellness is also a focus. A number of complimentary yoga and meditation classes are held every day; the restaurant offers extensive options for healthy meals; andregular yoga and spirituality workshops are held throughout the year. Desa Seni also raises money for a local orphanage, for which it runs yoga and dance classes as well as English lessons."

"With a name that means "village of art" in Bahasa Indonesian, Desa Seni is a delight. From the moment you arrive at the open-air reception, step down into the garden, and see the thatched cabins, you'll feel like you're in a fairytale. Canggu has been advancing from a low-key surfing enclave into a bustling destination that rivals Seminyak, but this little patch—10 minutes from Berawa—still feels like a peaceful hideaway, all within grasp of the action." - Juliet Kinsman

I attended a fabulous yoga retreat at Desa Seni Baturiti. It filled my cup and left me serene and recharged to face whatever life wants to throw at me. The location is remote but that what makes the retreat so special. It is so easy to cocoon yourself in nature and reconnect to the earth. The staff were so kind and the chef Willie was so clever in turning the produce grown on the premises to the most wonderful tasty creations. The proprietor and host Thomas personally checked in and connected with everyone. I hope to return someday 🙏

Desa Seni was the perfect place to start our holiday in Bali. It's in a lush, relaxing part of the island, away from any traffic. The property itself is stunning, every room is an authentic Indonesia house. The light and warmth and scale is really special. The furnishings, fabrics, landscaping and sculpture are all stunning. One of the many simple pleasures was walking along the smooth rock paths that crisscross the gardens and looking at plants and art along the way. We spent a lot of time sitting by the beautiful, natural stone pool, drinking ginger tea. An unexpected highlight was the phenomenal food. Every dish was so well considered. The chef uses local ingredients (many grown onsite) and flavours and takes them to another level. We looked forward to every meal. The service was excellent, we felt very well looked after. After checking out, I dropped my credit card and Thomas got in touch and arranged to have it delivered to where I was staying, close to an hour's drive away. Many thanks!

Desa Seni:where you go to touch base with your soul. I brought my four kids and to be thrown out of our comfort zone into the unknown was such a leveler. The phones took a backseat in comparison to the fun of the art studio, our so cute and genius wooden house, the fabulous vegan menu, therapeutic yoga, hilaroius rmorning runs through fields and dirt tracks. and torchlight evening walks. This pure and peaceful haven has everything you could wish for. It's both homely and cool, respectful to nature yet so holitcally nourishing and most of all it's so welcoming. That's why here you can meet your soul. The trees sway like yoga postures. The Yoga classes move with earth energy. The food is like a work of art; exactly what you need and prepared with love. Not least the wall muriel and art everywhere, the oversized stepping stones and beautiful medicinal flowers which only add to this dreamlike wonderment. Whether you go on your own or with friends or family here you will find your resting place and leave feeling refuelled with a new appreciation for your own journey and the world around you.

I just visited this resort and was absolutely jaw-dropped — it’s just so mystical and serene. Everything feels like it’s been crafted with care and purpose. The villas, the pools, the restaurant, the art center — all of it is stunning and deeply relaxing. The food at the restaurant was so delicious that I even wrote a separate review just for that! The team at Desa Seni is incredibly kind and competent — one staff member even held my baby quite a bit, which was super helpful (and sweet!). If you’re looking for a retreat — whether romantic, personal, or for a business/team-building getaway — this is the place.

We had a great stay at the new Desa Seni Baturiti. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious. The grounds are well kept, and the Restaurant serves fresh and beautifully presented food, thanks to the creative and gifted Chef Willy. This was my second stay at Desa Seni. We look forward to coming back. It’s very relaxing and in the morning all you hear are birds and nature.

I stayed at Desa Seni Baturiti for 2 days and 1 night over the weekend, and it was a beautiful experience from start to finish. The service was warm and attentive, the atmosphere incredibly peaceful, and the food was fresh and nourishing. What really stood out to me was the arts area-it adds a creative and soulful touch to the whole place. It's also a great spot for gatherings or community events; there are plenty of open, flexible spaces that can be tailored for different needs. Perfect for those seeking a retreat in nature without losing comfort and connection.

A stay at Desa Seni, Batu Riti goes way beyond a stay in a resort. It's an experience of being invited right into the heart of the island, to bathe in the exquisite beauty and healing gifts of Bali. The energy of the resort holds you as you gently return to yourself. The owner's attention to detail and beauty and the care of the team, are apparent with a swim in the pool, a walk through the grounds, around the labyrinth and fire pit, a session in the yoga shala or the art house. It is so wonderful to be in such a space. Each of the gladak houses are unique in lay out and well appointed interior design and art work, and with great linens it was such a pleasure to sleep here. The team is fabulous and the food is delicious, both to the palete and the eye. The bamboo groves, well that's a whole other visual & visceral experience. Your nervous system will thank you. Thank you Thomas, Chef Willie, Ibu Kadek and all the team. I am looking forward to another visit.

It was a magical surprise to us when my husband and I accidentally found this place while walking around the area. (We stayed in a different place). We visited the venue in the evening and the scenery was mesmerizing: authentic vibe of historic Indonesian buildings perfectly blended with a modern style, with great attention to details. Swimming pool with a jungle view and a garden for gatherings, space for art, cozy restaurant and many more interesting things around. Since restaurant is open only until 4pm we couldn’t have dinner that day so we came back the next morning. It was truly incredible. We thank chef Willy and his team for making us feel welcome and for creating such an amazing dining experience. We ordered 2 Banjar Breakfasts with Omelette and Bruschetta. In this package you choose one main course, get fresh juice, tea or coffee and a fruit platter. We could feel that food was cooked with love and world class professionalism. We enjoyed our meals in both senses - aesthetically and taste wise of course. For desert we had profiteroles and cheesecake. The swan shape of profiteroles was “cherry on top of a pie” for me! After the breakfast we had a walk around the area, discovering more and more beautiful things. ——— Thank you to the owner, Thomas for his vision and bringing to life such an amazing project that makes people feel so joyful. We wish this magical place many more decades of prosperity 🌿🌞
