Beautiful place to stay. Absolutely spotless. Lovely staff. Lovely breakfast with bread and cakes and coffees and fresh fruit. We stayed during the 40c heatwave and the room was cool and refreshing. Honestly loved this place!

We did not stay but had brunch here. Wonderful terrace overlooking the river and a copious and tasty brunch offering at a reasonable price, served with a smile by a lovely lady hosting the breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our brunch stop!

I went to the reception to book a bed and after I paid I was told "by the way, there's a private party tonight, in the garden by your room. Expect loud music till 2 am". I had to remember the receptionist to give me the key. Not that I needed it for the room (there is no lock!) but I need it to pull down my bed. I was not given any password for the internet. When I asked at the bar, they just indicated a sticker on the wall. Turned out that the bar internet doesn't cover the dorms downstairs. There were 8 beds and not Air con, temperature during the day reached 40 degrees (104 farenheit)... I leave the rest to imagination. It is a shame they hate the dorms so much , because the place is nice and I bet the rooms are comfy but there were not a availble the night I was there .

Comfortable and clean. In a great location, close to the town. Great, cafe style restaurant with healthy snacks.

I only stayed for a couple of hours, but they were very nice and gave me a solo room (even though I booked a bed in the dormitory). I was going to arrive very late and leave very early, so in they let me check-in in the morning (change my clothes and leave my stuff) and gave me the key and the door code. Very accommodating and nice. The space was beautiful

Our stay at this hotel was truly exceptional. Our room, overlooking the picturesque river, was nothing short of magnificent. The staff's warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home, adding a personal touch to our experience. Nestled within an old building, the hotel seamlessly blends history and modernity. The meticulous renovation has preserved the building's soul, evident in the high ceilings, exquisite vintage furniture, and impeccable taste in decoration. Each corner exudes a charm that reflects the rich heritage of Amarante. The attention to detail extended to the linens, as the sheets and towels enveloped us in an exquisite fragrance and unmatched softness, enhancing our comfort and overall sense of luxury. The breakfast experience was a culinary delight, with a delicious and varied spread served directly at our table. The flavors tantalized our taste buds, providing a perfect start to each day of our stay. Initially planning to continue our journey to Braga, the allure of Amarante captivated us after just one night. The desire to prolong our stay became undeniable, a testament to the enchantment and allure that this remarkable hotel and town bestowed upon us.

First of all let me say that in normal circumstances our Satnav would have found this hotel and car park easily, so you should have no concerns re this aspect of your stay.||Unfortunately however, we arrived at the beginning of the town’s two day festival, and the poor Satnav tried its best but couldn’t cater for the various temporary no entry signs and one way systems that had been put in place. Eventually, not having a clue where to go, I stopped and asked a policeman who got into his patrol car and got us to follow him. Even his route came to a stop at no entry barrier, but he simply got the duty policeman to shift the barrier and let us through.||The police car got us to the hotel and left us to it. The next problem was how to get the car parked, and a nice young chap from reception got into the car with me and directed me to the parking lot behind the hotel; so thanks to two fine Amarante locals for looking after us. What a lovely welcome to the town.||The hotel itself is centrally located, just a hundred yards or so from the beautiful, old pedestrian bridge. As I’ve already mentioned, check in was efficient and very friendly. Our room is a superior twin room with river and garden view and is very nice in a modern way. It is quite small by “superior” standards but is comfortable and clean, with a small balcony area and access to the roof garden. There is ample hanging storage, but no drawers, but I guess living out of a suitcase for a couple of days isn’t a problem.||The en-suite is beautifully designed and features two very attractive sinks, a super shower and good quality toiletries.||Breakfast can be taken in the bar or the outside terrace and is very good. In addition to a splendid selection of fruits, cheeses, cold meats, breads and cake we were offered some scrambled eggs which was a welcome surprise and very tasty. A previous reviewer mentioned that the coffee was incredibly weak - and it certainly was on the first morning. On the second morning however it was very strong, so I guess it just depends on who is on coffee making duty on any particular day.||As we had been warned when checking in, the two day festival is a noisy affair that goes on, through the night, until about 6 in the morning. As such, we had a certain amount of disturbance but, overall, we were really glad to have been in Amarante during the festival, which was great fun.||In summary - this is a lovely hotel in an ideal location in a really nice town. The staff were all fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would certainly use this hotel again.|

The his place is a gem. The staff is amazing. Everything is modern with carefully chosen rustic accents, very clean and well maintained. The bar and terras are the best place in town to hang out, meet people and have a drink, small meal, coffee or a scrumptious breakfast. They have dorms and private rooms. Even the dorm rooms have a view of the river. The public parking lot for Amarante is just below the guest house and it is just an easy to the front door. A large, well-equipped communal kitchen is available to all guests. I had great conversations with the manager. They even produce their own wine. Highly recommended.
