We arrived in Porto, excited for our stay, only to be met with a frustrating situation. When we checked in, they charged us for our 3-night stay, which was expected. However, I later noticed they also charged me for an additional 3-night stay that began the day before, which I had canceled via their website. I never received a confirmation of that cancellation, so I followed up with an email on the same day, but received no response. A few days later, I emailed again to confirm our new reservation, and confirm the cancelation and AGAIN, no reply. However, I did receive an automated email with the new booking confirmation. Before we traveled to Portugal about a week ahead of our stay in Porto I emailed (copy and pasting address from website) to confirm our stay and yet again no reply. Perhaps this should have been a red flag. The hotel staff asked if we could forward them all these emails - we did. Now charged for 2 separate reservations amounting to over (1400 euro). They said they would take care of it the first night and nothing. Next day, they would take care of it later that morning. Came back in the evening to be told there is no answer they need to speak to the Spanish group because they need to 'investigate' if we did indeed cancel this reservation? We told them all the emails we forwarded to them confirm the cancelation on multiple occasions. This is absolutely ridiculous. This has ruined our entire stay. The stress of the possibility to be charged an additional $700 was nerve-wracking. Because it wasn't they would get around to crediting the charge but 'investigating' IF we were going to be held liable. On the 3rd and last day we received an email stating their investigation was complete and it was a technical error on their website. I would really be aware of staying here or with this hotel group. Personally I will make it my business to never stay with this hotel group again. My husband and I have traveled all over the world and have never experienced a situation like this ever. We felt we were penalized for something that wasn't our fault. As for the room itself (105), it was modern and comfortable, but the noise from the restaurant next door was unbearable. It sounded like the staff were working right in our room. I will also add as a first timer to Porto I would recommend staying a little further away from the river as everything (good restaurants, land marks, tours etc) are all up the hill away from the river. At this point, I would advise others to be cautious about staying here or with Aspasios hotel group, as their customer service and handling of issues has been super disappointing.

Where so many Porto hotels are on steep streets or quite a distance from the main highlights, this hotel is steps from the river but in a quiet street. It is really convenient for strolling and finding wine bars and restaurants. Nice buffet breakfast too! Great find.

Had a very lovely one night stay here to show my family the town of Porto. Carla was so helpful and we really connected with her. So nice! The hotel is just steps away from the lively restaurants and river. We walked downhill to here in ~15 minutes from São Bento station. Taxis cannot get right to the front door, which is common in this part of town. Part of the charm. Some rooms have a pocket view of the Douro River and some face the inner courtyard or alley. It is one row behind the riverfront, on the alley street. A truly fabulous location! My father-in-law had the Familiar room 304 on a quiet courtyard and I had a Superior room 201 with tiny river view. The room was well appointed and the hotel was clean and nicely maintained. I slept very well. Staffed by nice lovely women. Filipa helped us book a 6 bridges boat tour that we enjoyed. Carla gave us great recommendations for lunch and we loved it! Some foam mattresses and neck roll or foam pillows might make a nice upgrade. The windows were beautiful: large and heavy. I could not easily reach the curtain cord on one side above TV. It was very quiet because we stayed on a Monday night, and I closed the window tight. Might be loud on weekends so just bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The mini bar honor fridge is pretty full, but I could fit my water bottle in it, to keep it cold. The breakfast was plentiful and we recommend it for 15€ each at this time. Lovely breads, yogurt bar, fresh fruit, eggs, cold cuts, beans and pastries. We left the hotel happy and full, and they were happy to watch our bags while we toured around after check out. I would totally stay here again. This was my third visit to Porto and this was by far the best hotel we have stayed at! Keep in mind that Porto is a very old city and it rains a lot in winter, so it will feel musty to many people who are not used to this. That is Porto. I opened my window when I went out, because it was a beautiful sunny day. Thank you, Descobertas. Carla is the best manager!

Lovely little hotel in a splendid location on a small street one block back from the river.|Recently converted it offers superbly appointed bedrooms, stunning marble bathrooms, air-conditioning and all mod cons. |We stayed for 4 nights, enjoyed great sleep in very comfortable beds . The staff were really friendly and helpful, particularly the young man on reception who was a great ambassador for the brand.|Breakfast was superb with a great selection of hot and cold food to choose from. |We would definitely return and also try the groups other properties too.|Thank you for a lovely stay.

I stayed at Descobertas Boutique Hotel for one night last week and had a really pleasant experience. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Porto and within walking distance of the river, restaurants, and main attractions. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful, which made the stay feel easy and welcoming. Breakfast selection was really good, a nice way to start the day without being over the top. Overall, this hotel is a solid choice if you’re visiting Porto, great value, great location, and lovely service. I’d definitely recommend it!

We were on our first visit to Porto and opted to stay with the Aspasios Hotel Group. Well this was a major mistake. The light bulb should have gone off prior to making our stay, with the lack of communication when making and confirming the reservations. This ended up making our stay unbearable. We do understand things can happen, but the way the staff and Hotel group handled things is just absolutely absurd. We were treated poorly and made us feel as we were a guilty party. They told us they would look into the issue and resolve by the morning, well that took three days.. and during the entire time we felt that the staff was avoiding us and became unfriendly until our checking out. Very unprofessional. I would recommend not staying with this Hotel or any in the group.

Excellent accommodation very close to the river and all the action. The room was ideal for the two of us, and we really enjoyed having air conditioning during the very high temperatures during our 2-night visit. Very friendly and helpful staff with arrangements for restaurants, entertainment and taxis. Breakfast started the day completely.

Yelp
Fantastic location right by the water in the Riberia. Close to restaurants and shopping. Rooms are spacious. Tiny place. Good breakfast. Cars not allowed in the streets so it's very quite. All we heard were seagulls. I'd go back. Staff helpful and friendly.
