Good sized room, tastefully decorated. Some nice touches like decent bath products and books about the area, basic cooking necessities like oil and salt, milk in the fridge (assuming you prefer cow milk).
The room lacked some basics like a wardrobe. There were a few hooks but we were unable to unpack our suitcases during our stay. Maybe dedicate less space to ornaments and more to storage for guests. The decor of the room was somewhat spoilt by us having to store our clothes on every available surface, after moving the ornaments. Also too much light in the room at night. There were 3 curtains on the main window but none large enough to block the light at the bottom. Plus 3 different light sources from TV at the foot of the bed. We covered these with sweaters and blocked the curtain bottom with cushions. I'm used to doing this in cheap hotels but expect a more professional finish in rooms costing 200-250 euros per night.
Worst check in ever. We were delayed with car trouble and arrived late (after warning the owner). Exhausted, stressed, no roaming, flat battery - just wanted to get in the room. Rather than send door code and room number, owner asked that we call so he could 'guide us in' to our upstairs room. Not very practical when loaded with suitcases. The door was open so we went in to the only apparent upstairs room with a key outside. It's a 5 room hotel.
We messaged him, and learned that we'd found the wrong room. He told us it was similar but of course we went to locate the right room. We hadn't unpacked, used the room or even really entered. The room originally intended for us was bigger and warmer (cold night) so we moved our bags and messaged him again.
I can see that this could be irritating for the host. But we didn't want to bother him, we just wanted the room intended and prepared for us, that we were paying a lot of money for.
He called me back and without any question or explanation exploded in a fit of rage. In a very aggressive and disrespectful manner he ordered us to return to the other room. Having spent a lifetime in customer service I was able to calm him down and he quickly apologized for his inappropriate outburst.
Too late. It was very upsetting, the first night was ruined and I slept badly. Amateur.
