My husband and I have stayed at Desert Trails multiple times. Our experience as guests has been consistently outstanding.|We enjoy hiking in Saguaro National Park East with many excellent trails immediately down the road. The property is peaceful and lovely. The beds and rooms are very comfortable. This year we awoke to a view of horses on the neighboring property and a hummingbird making a nest outside our window. This is in addition to waking up to the aroma of the amazing breakfasts John creates every morning.|John and Steffi are wonderful hosts, they have created a natural oasis in the desert.

John and Steffi have made a wonderfully comfortable, relaxing and convenient base for adventure in the Saguaro National Park, Tucson, Mt. Lemon and surrounding areas. The Park boundary is right across the road. Hiking trailheads are a short walk or drive up this quiet road for some of the best trails in Saguaro Park. John's awesome hot breakfasts are different every day, some being his own creations or a unique twist to old favorites. Steffi's homemade breads are to die for. Share them at a communal breakfast table to become fast friends with other travelers, while a variety of Sonoran birds entertain you just outside the picture window at their feeders. John has excellent advice for your day trips. And to top it off, John loaded our room's fireplace with wood every day which we thoroughly enjoyed (every day for a full week) with a glass of wine while making plans for our next adventure nearby.

John and Steffi are such great hosts. My husband and I stayed at desert trails b&b for a weekend, and we could not stop talking about how great it was. John is so knowledgeable about Tucson and gave us great recommendations for activities, dining, and hiking trails. The B&B is super close to the Saguaro National Park so there are a bunch of hiking trails within walking distance of the B&B which was nice. John also made the best breakfasts! It was the best way to start our days; eating his amazing food and chatting about the “must-dos” in Tucson. We stayed in the Happy Valley room. It was very spacious for 2 people and comfortable with controllable thermostat. We are already thinking about our next trip!

Great B and B close to Saguaro NP East. We stayed in the cottage which includes a bedroom with a comfortable king bed and separate kitchen/living room. Roku access to the large TV. Unlike rooms in the house, breakfast is extra but well worth the $10 per person per day. Pool, nice property to explore and lots of birds at the various feeders. John is more that willing to give hiking and restaurant suggestions. We had a great time.

My husband and I just enjoyed another relaxing stay at Desert Trails Bed and Breakfast. It is always our first choice when we visit Tucson. The location is as close as you can get to the east side of Saguaro National Park with all of its many hiking trails and magnificent cacti.|The hosts John and Steffi are warm and welcoming. The property is a wonderful experience in itself, we actually saw and heard more remarkable birds in the surrounding gardens of Desert Trails than on our hikes. Additionally, the breakfasts John prepares each morning are amazingly delicious.

Loved my stay here. Just as pictured. John and Steffi are wonderful hosts. So welcoming! Delicious breakfasts and home-made bread while enjoying hummingbirds and woodpeckers out the large picture window. Enjoyed the proximity to the East Saguaro National Park and hiking trails, plus horseback riding just a short walk away. Make sure you take time to relax by the pool with your favorite book. Tranquil and peaceful!

Right on the edge of the Sonaran Desert, near Tanque Verde, this is a peaceful spot where you can relax from your hiking trip or your Tucson downtown visit. Steffi and John are great hosts and John’s breakfast is a dream you don’t want to miss. We will definitely come back here!

We stayed 4 nights at the Desert Trails B&B while on a birdwatching trip in Arizona. Located right next door to Saguaro NP - East, it was a great location for early morning and evening birding, and our host John gave us helpful suggestions for good birding spots in the area. The B&B itself is a good birding spot, especially the back patio by the pool where we saw hummingbirds, warblers, Abert's towhee, a roadrunner and more. John is a good cook and made us a delicious breakfast each morning. Next time we're in Tucson, we'll be staying at the Desert Trails B&B.

Yelp
We stayed here 2 nights and John and Stephie were accommodating, informative and made delicious breakfasts :) It's next door to Bob Houston's horse ranch so convenient - and about the only place I could find where you can do a ride without being a guest at some dude ranch. John knows the area well and can recommend great hikes and things to do. He's very accessible / responsive by email as well so you can plan your trip in advance. It's less than a mile to Douglas trail (moderate hiking and running trail) in Saguaro National Park. Thanks John and Stephie!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here 5 nights in February. Steffi was out of town, but John was an excellent host. He cooks fantastic breakfasts and is very helpful with places to go and things to see. He loves to pull out a map or brochure for wherever you want to go and is happy to chat about Tucson and all about Arizona. The property is lovely and quiet and right next to Saguaro NP (eastern part). The room we had was spacious and very comfortable. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay. John & Stephie were very accommodating. One of the days we had breakfast which worked will for our schedule to go straight up Mt Lemmon. We would like to bring the Grandz and take advantage of the stables for a trail ride into the Saguaro National park across the road.

Yelp
A great location for hiking. Breakfasts are outstanding. The rooms are large and very reasonably priced. I reccommend it heartily
