My recent stay at the Desert View Campground was nothing short of spectacular, offering a truly exceptional Grand Canyon experience far removed from the typical crowds. This is a genuinely amazing campsite that perfectly balances accessibility with solitude, and it will definitely be our go-to spot for future visits. What immediately set Desert View apart was the incredible scenery and the lack of crowds. Unlike the main Grand Canyon Village viewing areas, which can feel hectic, Desert View provided a peaceful, intimate experience. The views from the campground area were all the "right views"—stunning, expansive, and deeply inspiring—but we often felt like we had them all to ourselves. The campground itself is thoughtfully designed. The sites are very well spaced, offering a comfortable sense of privacy and quiet. This excellent spacing contributed significantly to the relaxed atmosphere, allowing us to fully appreciate the natural surroundings without being on top of our neighbors. For anyone looking to capture the awe of the Grand Canyon while maintaining a sense of peace and tranquility, Desert View Campground is the perfect choice. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and are already planning our return. We will certainly be back again next year!

A little busy but it was easy to book a site in advance. Luckily we were able to secure a quiet pad to ourselves. I wouldn’t recommend anyone in a large RV to stay there. It was tight with our truck camper pulling a trailer. We unhitched and tucked in for the night. Not much for critter action compared to the other RV parks.

Desert view campground was awesome. It was rustic tent camping. Everything was clean with's fire pit and a picnic table. The fire restrictions were lifted and we had a wonderful campfire. The host Chris was awesome very friendly and knowledgeable and helped us out a lot he's top notch in my book.

What a great campground. Primitive but it has everything that you need. Clean flushing toilets, and a camp store that is open seasonally. Fees are reasonable considering the location! Come and check this place out, you won't regret it.

Amazing camp ground and not as busy as the main South Rim camping and tourist area. There aren't very many amenities, but there is a public restroom and some water options (not for RV fill up from what we could tell). We stayed in site 22 and it was as the very back on the campground and was perfect for our small group. It had a picnic table and fire pit. Grounds were clean and the location is close to the lookout but down the road a little bit so it's tucked away from any of the hustle and bustle of that viewpoint and tourist lookout. There is a gas station with some dumpsters, but the store didn't look open so definitely pick up supplies before you stop here either in Cameron or Flagstaff (depending on which way you are coming from). Great camping spot though and it was very affordable for like $33 a night. Good times!

Perfect spot to wake up early and walk to the desert tower overlook for a perfect sunrise. The campground was quite and relaxing with the stars looking beautiful. The website said showers. But this site has none.

Our family had a blast staying at Desert View campground during Spring Break. The campground had just opened the day we got there (this campground is closed for winter), and we were happy to be a little removed from the crowds near the main area of the South Rim. We enjoyed sunrises and sunsets by making a short walk to the rim, where we were sometimes the only ones there. We even saw elk one morning. Our kids enjoyed climbing on the structures, and the surroundings were stunning. The campground itself was clean and the sites were spacious. Our host and neighbors were all very friendly. We'd feel lucky to be able to return!

This is a nice and quiet campground! Our hoist was very helpful and friendly. There is only restrooms here and water faucets to get water at, no hookups. $30 a night.
