Hotel Neruda, Prague, Czech Republic - Explore & Book

"A stone's throw from Prague Castle, at the top of Nerudova Street or King's Road, Hotel Neruda - named after a 19th-century writer and philosopher - hides its light under a bushel. What a welcome change in this exuberant city of a hundred spires, sights and sounds. You would be forgiven for assuming that the genteel chocolate-box facade spells olde-worlde lodgings. Inside, however, contemporary design cool contrasts starkly with the quaint exterior. A striking balance of old and new is maintained throughout: the occasional carriage clock or ornate mirror stand out against the clean white lines and dark woods that characterise Neruda. The modern makeover complements the character of this 1348 building, and the new wing offers more availability. The owners pride themselves on the efforts made to blend this 21st-century hotel into the yesteryear appeal of Mala Strana, while the unfailingly helpful staff are an added bonus. Highs A quiet, picturesque location in easy reach of the castle and Charles Bridge 21st-century comfort in a 14th-century setting Spotless, roomy ensuites with complimentary designer toiletries, plus many have spoiling tubs Delicious big breakfasts served buffet-style in the atrium Small spa with a Jacuzzi and sauna for post-sightseeing relaxation Lows Neruda sits at the top of a steep hill, so best look elsewhere if you'll find this difficult No hotel grounds or balconies for enjoying the views The café only serves breakfasts, light meals and treats, but there's plenty of choice for dinner nearby Extra beds are limited so not advisable for families Some rooms have see-through bathrooms which won't suit everyone" - Laila Ram

"Hotel Neruda is named for Czech writer and poet Jan Neruda, who was raised in this district, the Malá Strana, and who, by some accounts, lived in this building, a converted foureenth-century convent, just down the hill from Prague Castle. Neruda was an obsessive documentor of this neighborhood, the Little Quarter, with its shady characters and ancient, twisting streets, and the neighborhood, though gentrifying, is still colorful — not Prague's hippest, necessarily, but one of its most historic, a grab bag of architectural styles." - Tablet Hotels

Nice small hotel in the historical centre of Prague. Located just below the beautiful Castle on famous Nerudova Street (that’s where the name comes from).. it’s a great choice for a short stay in the city. They often have flexible and fair offers. Best parts? Tasty breakfast with a bit higher standard than usual and a lovely outdoor terrace on the top floor with amazing views.

Lovely hotel with a great buffet breakfast which had minor changes every day. We stayed in room 31 which was very spacious but only had 2 very small windows so there was minimal natural light. We had booked a standard room but didn’t seem to be like the pictures on the website. Bed was very comfortable. Downside was that the tea tray with the kettle built in did not reach a plug so the design of that was odd - did not want to have the tray on the floor to make a cup of tea. ||Bathroom was also large, personally didn’t like having a shower curtain especially as it kept getting caught around the plug hole which flooded the shower tray each morning. Had to ask for additional toilet roll as this didn’t seem to be automatically replenished. ||The hotel is not accessibility friendly at all as it has steps everywhere. We had steps in our room which made me slightly nervous when using the bathroom at night. There are steps up to the lift from reception and the lift is very small. Steps up to the breakfast buffet from the seating area. The hotel is also up a very steep hill so please do bear mobility issues in mind when booking!||Location wise it’s perfect for visiting Prague Castle and close enough to Old Town Square to get there on foot but far enough away to be out of the very busy tourist areas. ||Would recommend staying here!

The hotel is charming and located in a quiet and very pretty neighborhood, a 12-minute distance from the Charles Bridge, and the walk is very pleasant. The breakfast is excellent and very well-stocked, and the breakfast room is very pleasant. There is also a small cafe in the hotel. The room was large, with a high ceiling, comfortable bedding, and a beautiful bathroom. We stayed at Christmas time and a bottle of prosecco was kindly offered to us. The staff was very welcoming and the cleanliness impeccable. I highly recommend it.

!!! There is no AC. It’s not broken or weak like some reviews say - there is none. Also, depending on your room you will need to go up and down SEVERAL flights of stairs. If you need AC or aren’t ok with carrying your luggage up/down a lot of stairs then this is not the place for you. The front desk is slow and unhelpful. The rest of the hotel is really great. Cool design, amazing breakfast, fun location.

The Good:|Comfy bed. Highly decent breakfast with loads of options. Warm, friendly staff. Nice looking hotel. Safe, central location. Super-close to castle. (Use foothpath behind hotel as quicker and easier than steps.) Some excellent bars, restaurants, and cafes close-by. ||The Not-So-Good:|Not near a metro. Tram-stop is nearer, but expect an 8-10 minute trek up a fairly steep hill. |Shower in our bathroom (over bath) had very poor pressure. I didn't manage to wash my hair well the whole stay. (The hairdryer was also weak.) I missed being invigorated by power-shower especially after a long day walking in the heat. This experience was a daily frustration. Bath was cleaned only after gentle complaining.||The hotel, as quirky and designer as it is, poses multiple problems for visually, or physically impaired guests. It can feel dark inside, and there are steps to negotiate everywhere.||I missed having a full-length mirror, and drawers to organise my clothes in.||Despite my grumbles, I enjoyed my stay. This was down to the staff. However, I wouldn't stay here again. Feeling clean and fresh is a priority!

I had mix feelings about my shag here and here’s why. Context: stayed 3 nights in July 2025 I’ll start with the good. LOCATION: The location is unbeatable. You are right underneath the actual Prague castle, 5 min walk away. Train stop is 8 min walk away. And it’s simply unmatched beauty the street you are located on. DESIGN: The hotel really is lovely. The design is unique and truly boutique style. The dining area is covered by a glass roof so it’s a great experience. Every corner is different and has its own character yet it all works as a cohesive package. COMPLIMENTARY: I LOVE how breakfast was included. I love the coffee machine allowing you to have unlimited Americanos, lattes, etc. I loved the fresh bread with an assortment of toppings. You are given one free drink at the bar with your stay. And free bottles of water are available at the door. Now here’s the bad ROOM: The room I was given wasn’t just worse than photos, it was a completely different room which is much uglier than the photos advertised. The room doesn’t have windows other than a sky light which makes you feel like you’re sleeping in a cave. The worst part of the room: broken AC. I couldn’t sleep for the first two nights because of how hot and humid it was in the room. I told the staff and they said they checked and it’s working. This made me resent sleeping here at night. The other worst part: **NO SHOWERS** only baths!? I never thought this was something I needed to consider but I guess it is. There is only a floating Bath tub with no curtain and no standing height arm for the shower head. So my bathing situation was absolutely awful. Now why was the experience so bad? SERVICE: Immediately after noticing there was no shower and that the AC didn’t work. I went straight to the front desk and told them I’d like to switch rooms to one with a shower. I was here for 4 days so it was necessary. Upon review the staff member told me “we have nothing for today but tomorrow we have a room for you”. Great! Later on in the night, I spoke to the next staff member, he also confirmed the same. Morning of I speak with the same staff member and he stated “come back to the hotel after 11am to receive your room”. After exploring I come back to be greeted by yet another staff member. Instead of receiving a different room I am told “there is no room for you.” ??? I was so confused why 2 different staff members would tell me they have a room ready for me then a third says nothing available for you when THEY told me to come back for my room. I begrudgingly stayed in my cave room with no AC and no shower. My last day in the hotel I talk to staff again and they found a room for me, available for a 20 euro upgrade. I was hesitant but took the room. It was a beautiful room with big windows, working AC, and a great shower. So here’s my overall take: If you have the money for a good room, I 100% recommend this hotel, its location, design, and breakfast included make for a great stay. BUT if you are on a budget on me and took their cheaper room, pick somewhere else. In the photos you can see the first room versus the upgraded room.

Exceptional hotel on Nerudova Street/Ulice. It is within walking distance of Prague Castle and excellent viewing points of the city. Nerudova is fairly steep but it is really close to a tram stop which can get you into the Old Town and other places. It is close to Petřin which is amazing for a walk. The hotel itself is really nice, clean, comfortable & the staff are lovely. I can't wait to come back soon.

A true gem of Prague. We arrived early in the morning, and were greeted by Kristyna with the most welcoming smile, she couldn’t do enough for us, our room wasn’t ready as we were very early but she offered to text us as soon as it was (which she did). We kept our luggage behind the reception. ||The hotel is beyond what we hoped for. Our room was spotlessly clean, and well equipped with coffee and water etc. The bathroom was small but had a wonderful hot shower with shower gels. Breakfast was self serve and had a good selection for all tastes including gluten free.Even bubbles if you fancied them! |We are leaving early tomorrow and Kristyna has kindly arranged for a breakfast box for us to take with us. The hotel is very close to the castle and in a lovely quiet setting. ||The hotel is 10/10

Yelp
Incredible place. Very cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Staff was very pleasant and understanding. We had an issue specific to us with parking and they were very understanding and helpful. In terms of accommodation, there is a cafe that works during certain times of day, as well as a breakfast buffet with incredible food. As you'd expect, the place gets pretty filled during breakfast time so be sure to plan your time optimally. 100% would recommend (I stayed in Aug. 2024 and again in Oct. 2024, and im writing this review in March of 2025, so some info may be outdated.)

Yelp
Rooms are clean and the beds are phenomenal. In room Nespresso was perfect. We added the breakfast which has lots of options. Great shower as well. This is right next to the castle which seems far from the old town but it's worth being out of the center for the noise. Our only issue was having to wait an hour past our check in for a room. Others were able to show up and check right in. Not sure why but it was tough after the long flight in. One other thing is that this is at the top of a large hill. Great for exercise but after a long day walking it could be a bit much for some. I would have given 5 stars but the check in delay after arranging for our ride through the hotel there should have been a room ready.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this hotel and so glad u did my research. I had heard staying in the touristy Old Town would be a mistake and could get sketchy at night and boy was that right. This hotel is situated uphill just below the Prague Castle. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's made by some of its walls! We were sent a driver by the hotel and they were waiting for us at the airport. We arrived at the hotel, in a fantastic location away from the high traffic of tourists but still very central. All you have to do is go down the hill, cross the Charles Bridge, and you're in the crazy action. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and they are there 24hrs. They recommended us local restaurants and great tours if we hadn't booked and everything they gave us was on point. The room was small but comfortable. The only reason I took off a star was the bathroom. They need some serious updating but they're clean which is important. The hotel includes wifi and breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and full of variety. They even will make you pancakes and fried eggs to order! Some items include yogurts and jams, fruit, a wide assortment of breads and homemade pastries, eggs and sausage, cold cuts, juices, coffee and tea! We loved getting up to grab the breakfast because it was so yummy. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you dot mind a short walk uphill away from heavy touristy areas and on a beautiful, safe street.

Yelp
Design Hotel Neruda... what a place! The Design part is completely true, is has a unique design from the first moment you get inside that gives you the feeling of a small family business boutique hotel. The staff is very friendly and the rooms even been small are just right. You will find everything you'll need for you stay. Specially if it's a short stay 5-7 days. It you are staying more, you should probably look for a bigger hotel or chain, as you might want to have access to a gym, or avoid the hills sometimes. The only reason why I give them the 4* and take one down is the bathroom. It's very small, old staff, and doesn't look renovated as it looks the rest of the room. If you are looking for a place is Prague, this might me yours!

Yelp
Beautiful boutique hotel just below the Prague Castle. Absolutely wonderful mixture of glass and simple modern lines with the old walls (hotel is actually built into the castle walls!). My boyfriends parents stayed recently and were very pleased. There was a big bathtub right in the middle of master bedroomthat I call a pure luxury. Cost is around £100 a night. Must warn you, it is uphill, if you walk there as Prague Castle is right on top of the hill:)
