My husband and I booked a junior suite with a lake view for our honeymoon for two nights and it was the worst experience we've had at a hotel, and truly expected more from a four star hotel. When we checked in we were told we would have to switch rooms the next morning due to construction, without apologies or anything. I will say the breakfast and the views were incredible., but that was just the start of a horrible experience, on our honeymoon no less. |Short version: |1. Loud music/chanting until at least 1 am on a weeknight|2. Cigarette smoke in our bathroom|3. Getting locked out of our room with no reason|4. No compensation given in person for the prior inconveniences or room downgrade||Long version:|Day 1, 2200: Hear cheering/chanting from our room, and told it's due to a group watching the Brazil/Argentina game and it should quiet down after the game ends.|0000: Woken up to singing and chanting. Called the reception.|0030: Called again asking if there was an end time and the employee did not know. I went to the bathroom and it smelled of cigarette smoke and was hazy, immediately called back. |0100: The receptionist comes to our room and confirmed the cigarette smoke in our room and stated it's from the room below us, in a non-smoking hotel... My husband and I move to a smaller room without a view. ||Day 2, 0800: Receptionist apologized and said he would escalate the issue and offered compensation for our dinner.|1700: Return from our day trip, cannot enter our room. Had to wait about 30 minutes for receptionist to reactivate our cards.||Day 3, 0600: While checking out, we notice our receipt reflects no refund for our dinner the 1st night and no change in price difference for our hotel room. Were told a manager would follow up with us because it was too early, but two weeks later we reached out ourselves as no one had contacted us after our trip.
