Very cosy and pleasant bar, with a nice atmosphere, a good crowd, and decent prices. Overall, we really liked the place.
Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant misunderstanding with the bar staff. We were served five Haselnuss shots that we did not order. By the end of the night, we honestly thought they were a courtesy from the house. They were not particularly good and not the kind of shots we would normally choose (I am diabetic, so I would never order Haselnuss). Still, five shots for €15 didn’t seem unreasonable.
When we were paying for our drinks (whisky, vodka, beers), we were informed that the shots were not free. Of course, if we drink something, we are more than willing to pay for it—and we did. We also left generous tips (around €9–10). The first bartender understood the situation and was very polite.
However, a second bartender was rude and insisted that we had ordered the shots, which was not true. I explained that we believed they were a courtesy of the house, but said it was fine and we would pay anyway. The situation became more uncomfortable when one of my friends was later offered a “free” shot. She even wanted to pay for it out of courtesy, and this was then used as an argument to justify charging us for all the previous shots.
When I tried to calmly explain the misunderstanding, the bartender became arrogant and impolite. I asked him not to get upset, gave him an extra €10 tip, and told him we would probably come back because we liked the atmosphere. His response was: “I hope you don’t come back.”
Considering that we spent around €80 on drinks and left tips, this reaction was completely unnecessary. The issue may have been about €5, but the attitude was rude and unprofessional.
My advice: be very clear and pay for every drink immediately to avoid situations like this and being mistreated over a small amount of money.
