Recommended by the crew over at North Branch Inn and couldn’t have been happier with our experience. Booked an emerger session for me and my girlfriend which consists of 1 hour of casting lessons and an hour fishing on the stream. All gear is included and the shop matches you with a guide (our guide Jimmy was fantastic!). While we didn’t catch any trout, we got to see a bunch of fish sipping/breaking on bugs and we had an excellent time on the water. Back in the shop, Seth helped us pair a reel and line to a rod that I purchased elsewhere. We got a ton of good info on how to set up a rig and we can’t wait to get back on the water to try again.

Extremely helpful staff. You get that weird small shop off the Missouri River feel about the place. Type of place that you would expect to find the knowledgeable local river guides hanging out at whe not out with the sports.. I stopped in and grabbed 50# 1200yard spools of Gel-spun for a few saltwater rigs... they had them. Great selection of tackle and kit to get you out on the stream. I will return.

I found Dette Flies online when looking for a last minute rod replacement before an upcoming trip. I called on Monday afternoon to verify that they had it, which they did, and they shipped it for free the next day. Shipped from NY on Tuesday and arrived at my house in WI on Thursday. I could not be happier, and will order more from them in the future!

First time at the shop. Bob was awesome! So knowledgeable and patient as we test casted rods. Left with one. Super happy. Will be back soon!

Dette Flies has been around since 1928. Still producing high-quality flies and offering great service. Talk to Bob. He will always steer you right.

Excellent selection of fly tying material and unique flies for the region. The staff were helpful in person and even gave a few suggestions on places to fish on the Willowemoc. My only criticism was that a few weeks prior to my trip I had called about booking a guide, they took my information and did not call me back. After waiting a week I booked through another shop. I will say though, that my in person experience was great and I will continue to patronize this fly shop.

Dette's is a fly fishing institution. Many revered anglers have walked through these doors throughout history. If you need waders, boots, rods, or flies, Dette's is the place. If it's info you seek, Dette's is the place. Stopping in here should be mandatory if you are fishing the WB, Beaver, or Willow!

Yelp
Visiting the area from Virginia this was a must visit. I made a late notice request a week out in hopes of a being able to lock in a half day wade outing but had no such luck. Next time though, I'll be more prepared! The shop is third or fourth generation, amazing. There's great product throughout and a gentleman was very helpful in putting together a fly sampler for me. I'll be back!

Yelp
Awesome fly shop stocked with all your needs. Great guides to show you a day on the local waters. Always enjoy stopping in to take a break and catch up. Free coffee!

Yelp
Super friendly and helpful shop that epitomizes what a Catskills fly fishing shop should be. Full range of gear for the starter to the seasoned fly fisherman.

Yelp
Joe is very knowledgeable of the area and it's waters. The family run business has been around for for over 85 years. A great selection of flies that work at catching fish when used right. Also has a good selection of tying materials at fair prices.

Yelp
They're quality flies, well tied, durable and I am very happy with the service. You can buy cheap flies anywhere but great flies are hard to come by and I know, I fish every day. Sincerely, Tom the retired fly fisherman

Yelp
I have been viewing the Dette's Fishing report since the 80's. It's the most accurate and honest report on the local rivers. Everything they sell is quality. For me this shop is a tradition I can't pass up when ever I'm in Roscoe.

Chris C.

Yelp
Hands down the best fly shop in Roscoe, maybe anywhere. I can't believe I just found this place this year, but this is the shop that the really good fisherman use. It is not on Main St so it does not get all the attention of the others, but they have been there since 1928. Joe knows the water and what is working better than anyone, and when you walk in there he makes you feel like he knows you forever. You may even bump into a fly-fishing legend when you are there.
