We drove today through the west side, the road was safe, you still need to be careful because it is slippery, but all good. The view is stunning is completely worth it to see this and then walk to Sellfoss. Also the rainbow was insane 😍🌈

Stunning and impressive. One of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. The Dettifoss waterfall is located in the Vatnajökull National Park in Northeast Iceland and offers terrific amazing views. It was a short walk to see the waterfall and you may get to see the rainbow if the weather is good.

Dettifoss waterfall is popular because of its beauty and power, it’s very intimidating to watch the force of the water. Totally recommend it but be cautious with the road can be slippery because of ice or snow even in the spring and autumn. Take your time and walk around the area, there is another waterfall next to it.

Absolutely breathtaking waterfall. Very easy walk to the waterfall in itself however the pathways were very icy when we went (October) - still manageable but watch your step!

Great waterfall but getting there is challenging given the ice and sinking snow. The Selfoss nearby is even longer to get to but much better from a picture standpoint in my opinion. Free parking and restrooms at the site

A beautiful trail to reach this waterfall. Mind blowing views, if you guys are planning to come in winter season then please do carry crampons

Plenty of parking, 1 km hike, totally worth it, even though it was quite cold, windy and just started snowing. The lower path was blocked off for the winter already so we hiked up to the overlook which was amazing. We recognized this from the Prometheus movie.

So a few things. This waterfall is really cool. When you arrive at the parking lot if you don’t notice any tour buses get your hiking gear and get going asap. A tour bus could pull up with 50 people and the trail gets crowded fast
