We had a beautiful Valentine’s date night, with a menu and atmosphere that felt genuinely special rather than rushed or gimmicky. From the moment we arrived, the vibe was warm and lively, with the open kitchen adding energy and making the whole experience feel intimate and fun.
A special mention to the exceptional staff, Enzo and Arnaud, who welcomed us so warmly. Being recognised in line and then taken back to the same seats we had last Valentine’s made us feel like real VIPs and set the tone for a memorable night.
The entrée pintxos were fresh and beautifully balanced - the tuna with rock melon and avocado crema was a standout, and the croqueta with wagyu bresaola, fig and honey prevented the classic Valentine’s menu trap of playing it safe.
The main course Wagyu Denver steak was cooked perfectly, tender and rich, with the porcini mushroom sauce tying everything together. By the time dessert arrived, we were already impressed, but the wine-poached peach with vanilla ice cream and mascarpone chantilly was the perfect finish - light, elegant, and not overly sweet.
Cocktails were playful and well-crafted, and the little Valentine’s touches made the whole evening feel thoughtful without being over the top.
Overall, it was a relaxed, delicious, and memorable date night - exactly what Valentine’s dinner should be. Great food, great drinks, and an atmosphere that let us actually enjoy each other’s company.
Deux Frères is a must try & remains our favourite Sydney restaurant.
