Creative and tasty donuts! Worth the wait and visit. The line moved very quick. We got the strawberry crunch and samoa. Both were delicious. Soft, fluffy, and bursting with sweetness goodness. Got lattes to compliment the donuts and it did not disappoint. There are some outside seatings for those who want to sit and enjoy the yummy treats.

Google
Deviant Donuts is a blast—fun, unique flavors that taste as awesome as they look. The coffee was smooth and satisfying, and the staff was super friendly. Loved the relaxed, cozy vibe of the seating area. A perfect spot to treat yourself and chill.

Google
Coffee was excellent. They offered a variety of treats. Great music. Staff were friendly and fun. Not a fancy place just a walk up coffee shop but it’s great coffee I came for snd that’s what we got. No indoor seating . Seating is outside.

Andrea Thomas

Google
Really great coffees! I've never been disappointed! The lemon donuts are AMAZING! Prices might seem a bit high, but the quality is very good. The donuts are super thick, so it's worth it. We always share one!

Christina W.

Google
The donuts look fun and definitely fun to bring your kids too. The designs are adorable and the flavors too. We only got to try the Samoa donut and it’s a bit too sweet for us but still good.

Heath Coxall

Google
We always pre-order gluten free donuts for our family since a few have celiac disease. The donuts here are extremely good! They have specials all the time and have a wide variety of flavors to choose from. The store gets very busy in the morning and the line tends to get pretty long. That's why we pre-order the day prior. They also have lattes and coffee and other drinks. We return often due to the quality and taste of the donuts.

Google
Second time visiting this shop. The donuts are delicious and filling. The line moved quick which is nice since it’s always out the door. I got the black velvet coffee which was also great. Didn’t get the chance to try their cookies but they looked amazing as well

Emma Rogers

Google
Cute shop! Coffee was great. The donut was okay. Very fluffy. I got the raspberry lemonade and it was sweet but had a tang. My husband got the upside pinapple fritter and that was great!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this donut shop while browsing the village. Missed out on a LOT of donut varieties in the afternoon and on the weekend, but I wasn't disappointed. The blueberry donut had minced and whole blueberries mixed in the batter and a blueberry glaze on top . I wish I didn't live so far cause I would stop by weekly ** as popular as this place is, I would think that they would have a selection or different donut varieties at least through the afternoon. Disappointed when I come in at one in the afternoon and there's three donuts in the case.

Yelp
The line was out the door and the donut choices were limited by the time we got there around 3pm on Saturday of holiday weekend. Line went fast. Service was friendly and helpful. Got a seasonal special cookie iced latte and it was delicious! The pizza donut was so generous, we shared it. Fluffy tasty dough, with a caramel creme. It made me happy just to experience it. Loved it here. Absolutely will come back next time we are here. It's a walk in/walk out place with some tables on a porch. We were fortunate to get a table. Great donuts and coffee choices. Fair pricing. Loved it!

Yelp
I really liked this place! The cream they use in their donuts is phenomenal - super light and fluffy. The best thing I had here was their pistachio donut. The pistachio cream and icing was absolutely delicious! I also had their orange creamsicle cake donut which was filling, and their drip coffee was pretty good. My husband said his cortado was so-so and his lemon cookie was kind of dry, but at least I got some good items. It's a bit pricy for what it is, but look where it's located. Overall though, I think this is a good spot.

Yelp
Love this place conveniently located in Olde Mystic Village. Make sure you get there early before they all sell out. Outdoor dining on the deck. Never been disappointed in the donuts.
google avatar

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Some really unique donuts here! The Samoa one was very good. The donuts are all very fresh too. The molasses cookie was a little overcooked around edges, but still very good. There's no indoor seating, but some outdoor seating with an overhang. It was a little expensive; but if you are looking for donuts a little more "exotic" than what you find at Dunkin, it's worth checking out.

Yelp
I came back to Deviant Donuts recently on a Saturday morning. There wasn't much of a line waiting to get inside. I liked how their menu was different from the last time I went there. I ordered the Mimosa (Jelly Filled) donut and M&M Cookie. Each were $3.95. The orange champagne jam inside the mimosa donut was very good and there was a good amount of filling. The cookie was soft and a good size. On the deck, there were about 6 tables and we sat at one of the tables. It was nice to enjoy our treats before walking around Olde Mistick Village more.

Yelp
Deviant Donuts is located in Olde Mistick Village near the aquarium. My donut reviews have evolved into two rating categories. Classic donut shops with familiar donuts like glazed, blueberry cake and Boston Creams with customer friendly pricing (the average cost per donut is typically less than $2 if you buy at least a 1/2 dozen) is Category 1. "Gourmet" Donut Shops with more elaborate donuts and higher prices per donut is Category 2. You can't fairly compare the two. If you had a donut from each category on a plate, you'd almost always choose the second category because it's probably bigger, flashier and tastes more like a dessert than the donuts you grew up with. But if you had to pay the higher price for that more elaborate donut, you might very well pick the cheaper classic donut. Especially if you're buying a dozen for guests. At a cost of about $3.65 to $3.95 per donut, Deviant Donuts is Category 2. Some of the donuts (Vanilla Glazed, Boston Cream, Double Chocolate, and Chocolate Sprinkled) are not especially elaborate, but they're bigger than traditional donuts and cost more. I'm a big fritter fan. So I went with the Blackberry Pear Fritter. It was good, but at $3.95, I'd prefer the elaborate donuts available from other Category 2 places, and cheaper donuts from Category 1 places. Also, I didn't detect much pear flavor and I prefer a fritter with some crispier parts. I know Deviant Donuts has many fans. I'm more of a Category 1 Donut Shop guy. If I want to spend around $4 or more, I'd rather get a cupcake. 4 Stars

Yelp
Glad we tried this place today as we were going to try Young Buns tomorrow in downtown Mystic; but they're apparently closed on Wednesdays. I'll never understand the operating hours of some of these local eateries in such tourist heavy, foot traffic frequented areas. That said, these donuts were delicious and were more than enough to hold you over til having lunch after twelve ! Plenty of selection and the strawberry jelly one I had was tart and sweet. The Oreo one was also wildly tempting but my kid devoured it in about 3 bites. I found these to be better than Alleys donuts (that everybody in RI raves about) and I think are fairly generic.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
Pricey but great quality and flavors! We grabbed a bunch of different donuts and tbh I forget most of them. BUT I remember enjoying the coffee cake and samoa ones the most. Guaranteed to be a flavor for everyone which means you'll most likely have to wait in a long line of said people xD I'd for sure swing by for a coffee and donut if I'm down this way again!

Yelp
Located right in the middle of olde mistick village with great seasonal choices for donuts, coffees, and teas.

Yelp
I strolled into this little cafe 10 minutes before they were closing a couple weekends ago on back to school week and it's the cutest little donut shop inside Mystic Village! The two women who were working were the SWEETEST people you could encounter! Not only were they extremely helpful in helping me pick out some donuts and a drink, but their suggestions were delicious. Absolutely would swing into this place for a little sweet treat or a light breakfast/lunch.

Yelp
Heard this was a Mystic staple so I had to try it out. I ordered the donuts ahead of time through their website because I wanted to ensure they didn't sell out. They are open until 5PM or until all of the donuts are gone. The week I went was the classics menu. I got the maple bar, Samoa, Apple fritter, honey glazed cruller, chocolate cream, and double chocolate. The Samoa was by far my favorite and it is on their staples portion of the menu (they rotate flavors weekly), so you could get this any week. Highly suggest.

Yelp
I recently stopped by after exploring the aquarium. The menu was "Christmas in July" and it did not disappoint. I've been wanting to come here for a while, so I decided to order a dozen - EXPENSIVE...but I'm seriously never in this area so I decided to go big. I can't remember all of the flavors, but they were all very good - I split them amongst family and we agreed they were not too sweet, and the texture was fluffy soft. The only donut I didn't care for was the jelly - in general, I don't like jelly donuts. I'll be sure to visit again if I'm in town!
google avatar

Susan D.

Yelp
I stopped by before going to the aquarium. Long line out the door but it moved quickly. Several flavors were very popular and sold out. I enjoyed the unique flavor combos. Service was fast and efficient once I made it to the counter. I enjoyed my donut because it was a unique flavor combo but the donut dough itself was pretty average. The hype is really about the unique flavors and pretty appearance. Great place to stop for a quick donut and/or beverage before/after the aquarium or shopping. Lots of free parking. Outdoor seating was popular on this cool Fall day.

Yelp
A tiny little shop with new weekly specials. It's one of those gimmicks I can't get enough of. The weekly menu comes out, you see something amazing and you MUST have it! We popped in about an hour before closing and I was happy to see they had most(but not all) of their weekly menu still. The girl working was so personable and sweet. She helped us make some hard decisions when we decided on half a dozen. The theme this week was breakfast! The lemon poppyseed muffin was amazing and hands down my favorite! All were enjoyed and not one was deemed 'meh'. We will be watching the weekly menus and will absolutely be back!

Yelp
After spending some time in the aquarium. We decided to go for some coffee. We found this place in the mystic village shops. The place was nice and quiet. Usually coffee shops get busy and crowded. We ordered some regular ice coffees. Their iced coffees were flavorful. I didn't try the donuts. Donuts didn't look fresh. Overall iced coffee was good.

Yelp
"What's in the Box?!" IYKYK Located in the majestic Olde Mystic Village CT, a relatively small yet incredibly charming donut & coffee shop full of all sorts of delicious flavors. Handcrafted freshly made donuts & freshly brewed coffee, stop by and just enjoy yourself at this lovely establishment bringing so much sweetness to the charming Olde Mystic Village. With a weekly changing specialty donut menu, there's always a surprise in store for you and you never know what crazy magic they're gonna be baking up next.

Yelp
Presentation for all of them are great. Overall if the filled ones were filled more to have a bite of filling in more bites than just the center would bring this great place to the next level. Coconut Cream This was my favorite of the lot that I got. Tasted just like a coconut cream pie. Definitely one to eat there as the heat will melt it quickly. Toasted coconut flakes on top, cream filling with coconut shred in it, loved the whipped cream on top. This one was also filled through and through. Excellent donut! Moose Tracks Loved the cute moose shaped cookie on top. Peanut butter glaze was a little light in flavor. I would've loved a bolder peanut taste. Donut is light and fluffy, not overly sweet either. Pretty good, I liked this one. French Toast Donut is light and fluffy, the sugar on the outside was not my favorite. I also in general not a donut rolled in sugar fan. I would've loved a nice glaze instead to kick it up a notch. The filling was the star of the show. Pretty good, I liked this one. Boston Cream I appreciate the thick consistency of the cream filling. The ganache has a nice rich chocolate intensity, and tasted like a rich cocoa bean was used. I would've loved if the ganache was a bit thicker to give a richness to the donut. Pretty good. Tiramisu Espresso dusting on top was nice. The espresso cream filling brought all the flavors together. Pretty good. Twix Donut is light and fluffy, not overly sweet either. Pretty good, I liked this one. This one was pretty good too. Almond Joy Iced Latte Good coffee base. The coconut and mocha flavors were on the light side, a faint taste of Almond Joy. The fact that the coffee is smooth and taste great really sold this iced drink. While it didn't get CynBites status, it was a good Woman owned donut shop. Totally worth the pit stop.

Yelp
Unlike Elsa, the cold always bothered me anyway. My dermatologist even told me to take cold showers for better health, skin and hair. Warm-weather destinations, hot showers, and hot chocolate are my vices and guilty pleasures, and I'm keeping all these habits in 2024. I don't need to jettison this stuff. I wasn't expecting the hot chocolate to be better than the donuts at Deviant Donuts, which are not bad but they are simply not special. Guzzling hot chocolate from Deviant Donuts on a cold and rainy weekend, I got a pleasant surprise: their hot chocolate, customized with whipped cream, was chocolatey, wonderful creaminess without bitterness, and the right hint of sweetness. Deviant Donuts' donuts disappoint. Mimosa Donut- Gluten Sensitive Orange Cake Donut topped with champagne glaze, orange chip and pearl sprinkle- was chewy and a very sweet artificial orange flavor but the champagne glaze was perfectly sweet and delicious, and I wanted more champagne glaze! The champagne glaze reminded me of Sugarfina Sparkling Rosé Bears, candies I love. (My No. 1 fave candy is Sugarfina's Peach Bellini!) Double Chocolate Donut - Chocolate Cake Donut glazed with vanilla and dipped in ganache, good but more cocoa taste than chocolate, and dense.

Yelp
I think Deviant Donuts is fine. I wouldn't go out of my way, but if I'm in the village I'd grab one to snack on. I personally think they're too sweet, so is the coffee which is made from concentrate (cold brew). Very small inside but has a lovely deck to enjoy in good weather. On the expense side, but it is a tourist area so it makes sense. I always see people post absolutely beautiful themed donuts from here, but everytime I go it's always just normal looking donuts. I don't go late, and I check the menu ahead of time in their website so I have no idea how I always miss themed ones.

Peck O.

Yelp
Been following this donut shop for awhile on instagram but never made the trip to get one. Finally did and it was worth the wait. Excellent selection. Service was very friendly and the store was clean. In a time where there seems to be a new designer donut shop every week this one is definitely worth a try.
google avatar

Devan K.

Yelp
Pretty good donuts but would recommend going early in the day so they are fresh and have more of a selection. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the donuts were a little stale and not as fresh as I wanted. We went there around 12pm.
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
The cookies were huge! I got 3 of them. They were super sugary but yummy. I wanted a chocolate donut but they were out. I'd come back here!

Patty N.

Yelp
Small shop - you are best to order ahead. Ordering online at least the day before will definitely give you much quicker service. I thought the donuts were some of the freshest I've ever had. Favorites... Peanut butter, pecan pie, coconut cream.
google avatar

Josh I.

Yelp
This place is hit or miss. The drinks are average, and so are the donuts, though the handmade, custom donuts they make are creative and fun. The taste just isn't always there. I recently tried the egg nog cream filled donut, and it felt like it just didn't hit its potential. The cake for every donut I've had here tastes the same - bland and doughy. The ideas are solid but the execution is lacking. Can't say anything negative about the service, people have been nice during all my visits. I'll go back because there isn't much else in Mystic Village for decent coffee, but if someone else opened up shop I would definitely not choose Deviant first. The queue is also small and cramped, and the entire indoor seating area was done away with and is filled with stored items now. It's not a welcoming environment.
google avatar

Jillian B.

Yelp
Fun donut shop with some very unique flavors! We ordered a dozen to share (as a larger group) and some of the favorites were the tiramisu and the baklava. I will say that there was a double chocolate donut that was a bit dry. But outside of that option, lots of unique flavors and we enjoyed them.
google avatar

Lindsay N.

Yelp
Deviant Donuts is a gem in the Olde Mistick Village Shops. Crafting some of the best eye-candy handmade, artisan donuts, Deviant Donuts drop weekly themed favors offered Thursday through Sunday. A few of the themes have been Baker's Choice, Around the World, Alice in Wonderland, Holiday, and others inspired by pop culture. The donut flavors are unique with elaborated fun glazes and toppings like drizzles, fruit, fondant elements and an entire cookie to name a few. They always have the staples like Vanilla Sprinkle, Double Chocolate and Boston Cream. I love their brioche and cake style donuts. They always have a gluten-sensitive and a vegan donut on the menu. A huge tip is to follow their social media, Facebook or Instagram, because they will post the weekend's menu on Mondays with pictures and descriptions. You can pre-order online to make sure you get all the donuts you want and to avoid long lines. Depending on the theme, Deviant Donuts can get very busy and sell out early. When they sell out, they are OUT! They bake all the donuts fresh that morning. If donuts are not your thing, Deviant Donuts has other goodies like cookies, coffee and tea. I LOVE their cookies; crunchy around the edges and perfectly chewy on the inside. They don't just do donuts. The shop is small and there are a few tables and chairs outside. The seating arrangement is best for warmer weather, but Olde Mistick Village can get busy with tourist in the summer. When we visit the Village, Deviant Donuts is either the first or last stop. We buy a hot tea or coffee to walk around with... Highly suggested in the wintertime! If we plan to grab donuts, they are the last stop on our way out.
google avatar

Kasey B.

Yelp
Fantastic, creative, and sometimes quirky donuts that are always yummy. This place does have quite a following so, as with most popular places, get there early to be guaranteed the best selection/availability of the goods. It is among the shops at Olde Mistick Village, so it can be the great start to your exploring or the best part to take home for later! There is no indoor seating, so if the elements are not conducive to enjoying on their small porch it will be a grab and go scenario. As with just about everything, enjoying fresh guarantees the maximum amount of enjoyment. When I make a trip, I usually stock up on just about one of each of everything to enjoy over a few days. However, I have found that after a day or two they are not nearly as delicious. Not a negative but an FYI in case you are like me!
google avatar

Shelley L.

Yelp
I wanted to come here because it's one of the few places open early in the village. No line when we got there before 9am and there were some patrons eating outside. When we entered on a Monday morning, I didn't see the donuts they featured on Instagram for that week's flavor, only the week prior. So we got simple chocolate and strawberry frosting donuts. Service was mediocre. No greeting or enthusiasm or friendliness as I've read in other reviews. Didn't feel like our business mattered much when we arrived. But we got donuts for the kids which they loved. After payment, there is one specific exit and that's when we stumbled upon several more outdoor seats. Really cute set up. The flavors were good and the donut texture was soft, fluffy and super fresh. Would I wait on a line for it if it was crowded? Probably not. But since we were visiting, we thought we'd give it a shot.

Jeff R.

Yelp
Great little location... this is the 2nd time we have made the trip to grab donuts from Deviant. They change their selection weekly, so it never gets old. My wife also tried an iced coffee which she said it taste great. Great service and even better tasting donuts.
google avatar

Torianne R.

Yelp
Donuts were delicious! I went on a Monday morning so I could tell they were very fresh. They had a lot of great options. The mermaid donut was a basic vanilla glazed. The turtle donut had a very light cream cheese filling - I'm still thinking about it! Highly recommend stopping here!

Becka B.

Yelp
Pavlova donut So fluffy and not too sweet. Loved the lime filling. And the fresh fruit on top was great. The Boston cream donut was good but didn't love the filling (would have liked it a bit sweeter) chocolate on top was excellent. Would love to go back and try more.

Craig

Yelp
Deviant is living off of their reputation from what they were 3-4 years ago. The flavors are poor now, to the point that many times you can tell the donut is from the day prior & stale. Just disappointing and with young buns closing now we need a new place
google avatar

MengYao L.

Yelp
Would probably skip this donut shop. Saw the good reviews on Yelp and decided to stop by to try the delicious donuts however they did not live up to the hype. By the time we got there a lot of flavors were gone already. The shop is cute and staff were nice. Super packed and long time.
google avatar

Nancy W.

Yelp
Deviant Donuts are truly unique and delicious. They are beautiful to look at and have unusual flavors. Not your ordinary donut! Treat yourself today!

Doug Y.

Yelp
Traffic flow of customers should really be addressed. A reverse flow of customers (flip the entrance and exit) could greatly improve business. I saw numerous people come in and immediately leave due to the backup of customers and limited space while waiting in line. I got a chocolate chip cookie, which was lacking in chips and dry. I also got a Boston cream donut, which was ok but the filling had somewhat of an after-taste. My wife got a Samoa donut and a egg nog donut, which she said both tasted old and like they'd been sitting for some time. She ended up throwing them both out. (p.s., we didn't eat everything while we were there, we waited until we got home ).
google avatar

Julia H.

Yelp
Wow - line up was crazy but totally get it. The donuts were so good! We wanted to try everything but had to hold ourselves back so we only got 4 to try: - sweet potato - snickerdoodle - Samoa - double chocolate They were all good! But next time I would skip the sweet potato one. Out of the four, the two favorites were Samoa and double chocolate.
google avatar

Will D.

Yelp
Very solid donuts - they look great and are light, fluffy and flavorful. A little pricey at about $4-5 each, but it's Mystic, so. The shop is pretty tightly packed and not someplace to really hang out, but the line moves quickly. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area!
google avatar

Amiel C.

Yelp
A cute little place to get some sweets and coffee. Last time I went too late, most cookies were gone. I stopped by in the morning this time, got a cookie and a fritter. They were both good.
google avatar

Celia B.

Yelp
This is a fun and unique shop in Olde Mistick Village! We went on Labor Day around 10 and they had a ton of flavor options and luckily, no line. We ordered two Boston creams, a tiramisu and a cannoli for donuts, then two specialty iced coffees. I agree with most other reviews that wished each filled donut had more filling in the center. While the donuts were quite large, there was very little filling in the center. The tiramisu was spot on and I wish we ordered two of them instead of the Boston Cream, definitely try one if you get the chance! The cannoli filling was very lemony and a bit thinner than the other fillings. While it tasted fine, I would skip this one next time. The coffees were made quickly and they were able to swap cream for oat milk which was great too. Besides milk, they offer vegan and gluten sensitive donut options as well!
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
Loved these donuts - and very reasonably priced (imo). We ordered the vegan blueberry pie and the sweet potato pie donuts and thought both the flavors and presentations were great. The store is cramped inside but there is plenty seating on the deck. Service was speedy. We'll definitely stop by next time we're in Mystic!
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
The ambiance is very clean and elegant. The service was excellent. Everyone working was engaging and friendly. I ordered a large hot latte. One of the best lattes I have had to date. I totally recommend this place.
google avatar

Asher G.

Yelp
Wide selection of donuts and coffee, selling out fast if you're not quick enough. As well as a calm indoor atmosphere and outside seats with quick service.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
Took a drive up on New years Eve with friends to get some tasty donuts. The donuts were delicious - we ordered a bunch of the New Years special menu - my favorite being the Chocolate Pretzel Fritter. I also ordered a Village Mocha which didn't disappoint! A delicious blend of hot cocoa and drip coffee! My only complaints were that it was a little hard to find from where the GPS led us and that the "pick-up" window was misleading. We got faster service to pick up our pre-order by going inside and buying drinks.
google avatar

Danielle A.

Yelp
This is one of those places that seems like it's going to be amazing because of the way it looks but is actually a little overhyped. The donuts are very pretty and it's cool that they're themed but they don't actually taste that great. The place itself is very cute, gets very crowded though so go early. Coffee is pretty good, better than the donuts

Christy M.

Yelp
Donut was great! Note - No area to wash your hands. Service was *very* unfriendly. We were the only customers in the shop. Didn't greet us nor thank us, nothing. Seemed very arrogant & rude. This serves as a reminder, Deviant - customers keep your business going - be kind and grateful.
google avatar

Savsri A.

Yelp
Ok not so happy,My first time trying the donut, cookie tasted amazing. But donut was soggy and for this I had to stand in line for 20 mins and there was a bee which was flying and due to which the ladies at the counter made a big scene. Bee also sat on one of the donuts and that was packed for another customer in front of our eyes. Over all after seeing the hype about this must visit place, I am disappointed.
google avatar

Jamiroquai B.

Yelp
Great treats, great price, and great service. These doughnuts took the dough. Get it?!?
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
These are the best donuts in the area by far. Super fresh and delicious. The flavors are unique and have a cute weekly theme. My favorites so far and the Samoa and strawberry French toast. I went with 4 stars vs. 5 because the wait can be very long (out the door) and they do sometimes sell out. Also they can be a bit pricey.
