Google
Delicious pint of Guinness, really nice staff, food is pretty good and high standards for a pub. Great selection of whiskeys, live music upstairs Wednesday to Sunday. I think it’s the best boozer on Camden street

Google
One of the best pub experiences we've had in Dublin: the place is awesome and neat, the service is so friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent: the beef and Guinness stew and the steak sandwich were so delicious, we could have ordered another round of them. We're lucky enough to get traditional Irish music at the end of our munch, thanks to the local musicians jamming here on Sundays.

Google
DeVitts Pub in Dublin provided a wonderful and memorable experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and we especially appreciated the live music, which added to the authentic Irish charm. Sitting upstairs among local patrons offered a more relaxed and intimate setting, which we thoroughly enjoyed. It wasn’t overly crowded, allowing us to fully enjoy the delicious food and perfectly poured Guinness. A highly recommended spot for anyone looking to experience genuine Irish hospitality.

Google
Beautiful characteristic Irish Pub in Dublin. This place has been suggested to us by a local fruit shop owner. We were looking for a place where to eat local food and we were fully sutisfied. We were also lucky to have live music during our dinner. We ordered local beer (Smithwicks) from Kilkenny and some water. For starters we had a salad (very tasty and fresh) and a dish with warm goat cheese with side (fantastic). For main dishes we had the Irish stew and a dish of sausages in a delicate soup (I loved it). The personnel have been very kind and keen to suggest us the best choices from the menu. If you are in Dublin, this is definitely a place you want to try, and it’s very close to the main attractions downtown.

Google
The brown bread is sweet, the cheese is greasy and the tomatoes flavourless. Served on a doorstep slice you can’t get in your mouth with a salad stalk garnish that falls off the plate it’s so big. Disgraceful way to serve food. Deeply disappointed given one of my favourite bars in Dublin.

Google
A strong 5 stars! We had excellent service. Our server was very knowledgeable on Irish whiskey and explained traditional Irish food. The loaded fries and brie cheese were very tasty. I liked the Dublin coddle too, with lots of sausage and carrots. Highly recommend!

Google
The best food I’ve had in Ireland (visiting from Toronto, Canada) the bangers and mash are to die for. The atmosphere is so cozy and the live music was great!!! Highly recommend :)

Google
I had dinner with friends in Devitts and it was a fantastic experience! The barman was extremely helpful in getting a table for food (it can fill up very fast) and the waitresses were extremely kind and patient. We ordered the loaded fries and the beef tacos. The food was so big, it was definitely worth the price. I would recommend anyone to eat in Devitts, it’s a brilliant restaurant!

Yelp
The Irish Coffee was delightful and came with a biscuit. The sirloin sandwich and roast of the day were absolutely delicious. The Guiness of course was tasty.

Yelp
On a visit to Dublin from the US, we visited about 20 pubs - all excellent. But Devitts quickly became our home base. The ambience, the location, the staff, the food...

Yelp
Great beer, good atmosphere, great service. Tons of selection. Busy on a Friday afternoon. Horse races and golf on the tv. Friendly, welcoming staff.

Yelp
This was a comfortable and welcoming place for our group to eat lunch and have a beer. As vegetarians we were able to find plenty to eat, with excellent soup, chips, veggie burgers, and curry potatoes on the menu. The server was friendly and attentive, and it was okay that we had children with us. We sat in a booth with butter soft leather seats, which were so comfortable after our long jet lagged morning walk. Bathrooms were absolutely clean. I recommend a visit and hope to return.

Yelp
I am from Cleveland, Ohio and met a bartender named Bruiser. He was my favorite bartender in Ireland. He is also a fan of the NFL team Cleveland Browns. This was my go to bar for the trip. Great times and good crowd!

Yelp
Great classic Irish pub with good service and good drinks. Get the Irish beef burger! Literally the best cheeseburger of my life!

Yelp
So happy we came here on Sunday! It was our first day in Dublin and we came for the traditional music session they have from 2-4. The music was fantastic! Our waitress Rachel was awesome! To start with we shared the seafood chowder. It was outstanding! Rachel recommended my husband try the Dublin Coddle and I had the fish and chips! Everything about Devitt's is 5 stars!

Yelp
Had the roast special which was ham, potatoes and white gravy. Good comfort food. Wife had the Guinness stew and it was really good. A little light on the beef. She also got the mussels and they were good. Great toasted bread served with it. Ambience was awesome. Seemed like a lot of locals. Super busy on a Wednesday. Service was great and super attentive.

Yelp
Just what we were looking for in a pub. We found a booth in the back where we could hear the great music and still carry on a conversation. The food was delicious (as were the adult beverages). Dylan and the staff provided wonderful service and fun conversation. Will definitely go back if I get to return to Dublin.

Yelp
Great pub, best seafood chowder I've had. Service was fantastic. Atmosphere was just what you think for an Irish pub.

Yelp
Amazing service, food and drinks. Their whiskey selection is second to none. Get their Guinness roast and try as many Single Malt Irish whiskeys as possible. Amazing people.

Yelp
Service was awesome! Very attentive, kind and quick. We were here with a group of 4 and spent about €120 so felt it a bit pricey for the food. Food was just ok. €16 Chicken tagliatelle says it has chorizo but I couldn't taste or tell it was present. Noodles just ok. Salmon on brown bread starter also just ok. €4 sauteed greens were my favorite thing. Done well and fresh veg. Yum! €16 Burger and fries just ok. People rave about the brownie and Bailey's ice cream €7.5 but we weren't impressed. Could make a more impressive brownie at home. Drinks were, of course, great and price good. Had beer, cider and Irish whiskey. All tasty and decent price. About €11 for Yellow Spot. I think I'd come back, but just for drinks, not food.

Yelp
My friend and I asked the concierge at the Harcourt Hotel where we could go to hear live Irish music within walking distance. We were directed here and were not disappointed. It was quite crowded with people in their 20's and 30's but we didn't mind. In fact we liked the lively atmosphere. We found seats at the bar and ordered our new favorite drinks- Jameson and ginger ale. The female bartender was very sweet and attentive. The live music was so much fun. They played the Irish classics as expected... Rocky road to Dublin, Bantry Bay, etc. The crowd was pretty entertaining too. Rowdy guys and girls were dancing, or really just jumping, because it was so crowded. The gentleman behind the bar who looked like he was in charge reminded us of the actor, Ed Harris. So cute. When the band took a break, it seemed like a good time to head back to the hotel. Loved this place!

Yelp
Atmosphere was great! Breakfast food was delicious! Cappuccino was amazing & Irish coffee was divine! Breakfast BAP was very tasty & filling! Ordered scrambled eggs cooked "hard" and they were perfect! Can't wait to go one evening for live music & grab a pint!

Yelp
***UPDATE: I've now tried seafood chowder at 4 other places around town and Devitt's puts every single other seafood chowder to shame. There is no taste that compares...the chowder is full of seafood, not filler...and the Guinness bread is to die for! I'd love to smuggle a loaf back to the States! Original: Amazing staff who found us a seat on a busy evening. Friendly, fast, and very personable. The food we ordered was AMAZING...seafood chowder and bangers & mash. We will definitely come back while we are here and will recommend to all our friends and family traveling from the States.

Yelp
The food here was delicious and service was amazing! My sister and I saw the chocolate brownie with Baileys ice cream so decided to split one main (grilled bangers and mash) and one side (parmesan and truffle fries) so we could save room for dessert. We each ordered a glass of wine before the food came out and then another glass of port at the end of the meal. Everything was FANTASTIC. The pork sausages were tender and well-seasoned, and the slightly cheesy mashed potatoes were paired with well-cooked kale and green beans. The parmesan and truffle fries weren't as outstanding in comparison, but still yummy to munch on. But it was the dessert that really took the cake (well, brownie). Rich without being overly sweet with the perfect amount of moisture and paired with equally delicious (also not too sweet) ice cream, the brownie dessert was easily the star of the entire meal. For all those who love chocolate desserts, I would highly recommend that dish! Service was also amazing with attentive and friendly waitstaff who seemed to know exactly when we needed assistance and didn't bother us when we didn't. Absolutely had a great time and would come back again!

Yelp
Solid 5/5, non-touristy local pub with great local food. Great service, friendly to traveling foreigners, reasonable prices. Get off the beaten path and try this excellent local neighborhood pub :-) My dad and I stumbled upon this friendly neighborhood pub at the suggestion of a cordial-drunk local. Well the tip paid off. Local families and friends sharing a pint...local live music...extensive beer, gin, whiskey list, great pub food...we couldn't ask for anything more. Even loved the wall lock-boxes for storing your bottle of whiskey ;-) Try this lovely pub out for a wonderful experience and great food/drink

Yelp
We were only in Dublin for 4 nights and went here 3 nights in a row! Great local pub with friendly staff, great food and live music! It was super close to our hotel ( Iveagh Garden Hotel, which I also highly recommend) and after a long day of tours and walking, it was so nice to be nearby! This has such a great local feel and is not a tourist trap at all!

David M.

Yelp
Wonderful pub, great food, great pints! Ate here 4 times in 2 days. Recommend the stew!

Yelp
The pub is a pub done the way it should be. Loud with lots of folks laughing and enjoying great times. Two floors packed and spilling out on to the sidewalk. Certainly the place to be on a Friday night. Didn't have the tourist only feel or sound either. A surprising twist to the visit was the food. The food is a legitimate excellent dinner. It's bar food- burgers, chips, fried this and that- but they do it all right. The dinners were cooked and presented with all the care you'd get any stand alone restaurant. I can vouch for the bangers and mash to rival any you've had. The menu wasn't just an afterthought for bar bites. The place is certainly worth a visit for a pint and a burger.

Yelp
Emily was our server and she was a pure delight. Soup and sandwich was delicious. Devitts is what every American thinks an Irish Bar should be! We will be back for the live Irish music this weekend.
google avatar

Kaylyn E.

Yelp
Great place to grab a beer and listen to live music. They do have reserved seats so come early if you want to get a seat. They have a great selection of beers and some bar food. The over all feel is casual and like your neighborhood bar.

Yelp
OK, so I went here on a recommendation that the Irish traditional music was tops in the town. The website also had me believing it was the place to go. We had dinner in a crowded and noisy pub. The staff was wonderfully nice and very accommodating. But upstairs, the session was another matter entirely. The session didn't start at the advertised 9:30 but at 10:00. And when the music started did the feeckin' eejits in the bar quiet down and show some respect for the music and the players? Of course not. If you weren't 5 feet away you wouldn't even know the session had started. Seriously, I couldn't hear anything except the drunken louts shoutin at each other! Don't waste your time going upstairs!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place I'm a tourist from the states. Very very very friendly staff, great beer selection, and the Irish atmosphere I was planning to expect. Very attentive without being bothersome. I'm a fat American so I enjoyed the garlic bread the most with the garlic mayo. Would recommend this place to anyone even the bouncer at night was super friendly.

Yelp
Also known as the Cusack Stand, and with its loyalty usually hanging from one of the flag poles on the outside wall, this is a real Dublin pub. Great for meeting people before heading onto one of Camdens 'trendier' locations or just sitting back for a few scoops and a bit of banter. Pub grub is available every day of the week, which is handy, and popular enough as a lunchtime option.
google avatar

Petra B.

Yelp
My local when I'm in town. I preferred it with the old furniture where you could see and feel the years of people enjoying some time in this pub. Now the front of the room has high stools and benches and hence high tables. I got used to it by now but still prefer a lower seat. The staff works there for years already so they get to know you and what you usually have. I simply love coming in, nodding and getting my drink. At least on Saturdays they have live music upstairs but so far I never managed to really go there as I'm usually there during the week and only the odd Saturday - then usually in a bigger group so not necessarily there to listen to music.

Yelp
An excellent establishment on Camden Street. A very good traditional pub. You can go here for a variety reasons. You can go here and just take some time on your own and not be disturbed. You can also go here for a trad session upstairs, very high quality Irish music. There's about 14/15 bars on Camden Street and it's pretty much the only bar without a bouncer because as other reviewers have said the staff don't tolerate any trouble. Locals will assist too. As other reviewers have said the bar staff will quickly know your drink and see your nod. The pub is in the family for approx 40 years and fair play. I'll always respect the predecessor- The Cusack Stand. It's still much the same and known by many as the Cusack Stand. All in all a very respected pub and worth going to.

Yelp
Maybe it's because I'm an old man at heart ... I blame my mom for sending me out with my Grandpa when I was little, but I love Devitt's. There's nothing particularly amazing or noteworthy about the pub, but I always just feel really comfy, cozy and warm everytime I'm in here. It's the kind of place that if I'm walking home down Camden Street I find myself popping into for a quiet pint or two with friends and then end up staying out for a few more. Also, in a less honourable pursuit I did come here once to fill up on pints when my American friends were visiting so that we'd have lots of liquid courage before heading off to Copper's (please don't judge me, my friends wanted to kiss Irish blokes and I figured this was their best option!!)

Yelp
Despite living in the area for roughly 15 years, Devitts is just somewhere I don't frequent. Recently I met my brother here for a few catch up pints. He does frequent here, once or twice a year when he meets his mates, who are locals. I stuck to the Guinness on this occasion, as I didn't fancy any of their craft beer offerings. It was grand. The barmen were on the ball when you went to the bar, but a bit standoff-ish. And the locals sitting at the bar didn't seem to appreciate people ordering over their shoulders. Uncomfortable would be one word for it. There are plenty of other bars in the area that I prefer, which have selections of beer I like and welcoming staff. I doubt Devitts will be too bothered that I won't be back. I'm not their target clientele. Facilities are clean.
google avatar

Chris O.

Yelp
Very comfortable pub. Plenty of beers in the selection. Three of us ordered three different items and all if the food was excellent.
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
I really like Devitt's. It's the kind of bar where you might stop off at for a pint with a friend on your way home from work, or where you might meet up with friends before going out elsewhere. It's really relaxed, there's no pushing your way to the bar, just an easy drinking experience. During the day they have food and I often spy people reading the newspaper and enjoying some pub food round lunch time. In the evening it gets a bit more bumping, but as I said it's not wild in anyway. It's authentic, the staff is nice and attentive, and the drinks are a good price. They show all sorts of sports games, whenever they're on and occasionally have live music on weekend nights.

Yelp
This is a solid local pub! Went in there for a pint... since it was close to my hotel. Ended up ordering some Irish beef roast, that came with mashed potatoes, carrots and lotus flower. It was delicious! The gravy they provide was amaze balls. Ended up pairing it with some green spot whiskey! The negative reviews are definitely not accurate. Good crew and service was given. Made me feel like a local ;-) sorry I didn't take a picture. Food was to good to stop eating for a photo.

Carley P.

Yelp
Excellent service and a fun time! The upstairs is so fun with the Irish boys playing music during weekdays. They even played Country Roads for me when they learned I was from WV. However, when I went back for the weekend, it was VERY crowded and the musicians of that particular night seemed to play American country music.

Yelp
"Jaysus Annie! And yah feckin wonder why you haven't pulled in ages," said the girls as they looked around the pub aghast. "Cheers girls - yee are the best!" "Look Annie! Look! They are all old men in here - like really old." I looked at the men in their peaked caps studying their pints of Guinness and the old gal at the door with her shawl on nursing a sherry. "Who says I'm on the pull anyhow girls?!" "Uh huh." "Bitches! I happen to love the Guinness here." "Annie, you are such an old man." "Bitches."
google avatar

Neil M.

Yelp
As previous reviewers have said. Its a great old mans pub with patterned carpets and where the toasted sandwich is the food of choice. The Guinness here is quality but uptairs is one of the best trad sessions you will hear in Dublin. For anybody visiting Dublin for the weekend get up here on a Saturday night if you want to hear great genuine trad and have a great pint of Guinness. Its also then in a great location if you want to go to something a bit more modern like to Whelans or the meat market of Coppers. Ps I need to give more than just a 4 start review. :)
google avatar

Will M.

Yelp
Not just old men in here! A haunt/stop of mine once or twice a month... and you see all types in here! Mostly locals I will agree but not all old! The bar men are old school - bring down the pint if you want and get the money off you there. Can you ask for anything more if you are weighed down with bags/folders or pints. I only went upstairs once, where the trad session was kicking off, but we soon got guilted into going back downstairs by friends down there. It's calm, it's quite... great way to enjoy the pint of Black Stuff!

Yelp
Devitts is by far one of my favourite Pubs in Dear Ole Dublin. Originally it was a Gentlemans Pub. The Staff have worked there for years and are well able to handle themselves. They see trouble before it starts. Zero tolerance to troublemakers., and the locals always back them up. ( that includes me), but i'm only a blown in so I never get involved. Cheapest pint of Guinness in Dublin if your looking for a cheap pint. They love all sport there. Soccer, Rugby, Golf, Snooker, Horse Racing, etc. If you fancy some head space. Devitts is the place. No one bothers you there. Great place for a first date, or to just sit and read your newspaper. A pub if you go long enough they will know your prefered tipple. They won't ask your name, so don;t throw it.
google avatar

Hugh M.

Yelp
Friendly staff, very old style pub. Good pint, no frills. It's central location. Very close to everything. Older crowd visit here. Worth a wee visit.

Yelp
had an AWESOME time here. visiting from the states, the locals were very welcoming and social. such a great experience. sad that i could not experience the hailed kitchen! service was amazing.
google avatar

Dermot S.

Yelp
Great old man pub that serves a good pint of Guinness. No fancy menus, cocktail lists or frills of any kind. This pub is a place to go for a bit of banter and from time to time some trad music. They have a session every Thursday night that has some great musicians who are welcome to play one of your favorite tunes if you ask nicely.
google avatar

Steinunn J.

Yelp
On a night when you want a break from loud music and trendy party-crowd, Devitts is a great alternative to the rowdier bars on Camden Street. Always plenty of seats, relaxed crowd and friendly bar-staff. When Anseo has become too packed to move, or get service at the bar, and I'm not in the mood to march into the madness, I always find it nice to pop over to Devitts, where there is an actual breathing space. It's also a perfect meeting-spot for a drink or two to warm-up before a show at Whelan's or enjoy a post-gig pint.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Grand spot for a couple of pints to kick off an evening, reasonable prices for town and I'm told the Guiness is great. However, I'm more of a Bulmers girl myself and while the pint is ok it's not wonderful. Loos are a bit on the old and grubby side, not necessarily dirty but they smelled pretty funky ( and not in the good way) last time I was here. Other customers are a mixed bunch of aul lads, couples, office workers and local aul wans and it has a friendly atmosphere so can't fault that at all!
