I have passed Devon and Blakely many times as I work in the Corporate Center that is connected to where this establishment is. I decided to do a small quick lunch because I was so busy and I didn’t want anything in surrounding vicinity because I was burnt out on eating at those places. So I decided on Devon and Blakely. They’re close to Starbucks and. I can kill two birds with one stone. So I ordered a fruit cup that wasn’t even the size of a kids cup. It literally was a small drinking cup you would give someone for water if they came in off the street asking for water. This tiny cup cost me $5. The fruit was filled with mostly melon. Maybe a strawberry. Some old blueberries that appeared molded and two rotten grapes. I ordered a Greek side salad with grilled chicken. I’ve had bigger side salads at more reputable restaurants but this side salad literally made me laugh. They gave me one vinaigrette dressing that wasn’t even filled up enough to drench the salad I had. I paid $8 for this very tiny salad. The banana at best was of at least a good quality at a $1.95. Needless to say, Devon and Blakely, I cannot in good conscience spend $16 here. I didn’t want any wraps. To build my own salad started at $6 and it’s a dollar for whatever you want in the salad after that. I would have easily built a $20 salad with what I wanted in my Greek salad. I know establishments charge what they charge but this was so disappointing to me. There are people who didn’t find anything wrong with the portions vs pricing but I work very hard for my money and if I’m going to pay $20 a day for a lunch at least let it be of value.

The salad and soup I ordered here was great for a quick lunch and very tasty! The prices for a salad are a bit insane but the salad was good. Just not sure if it was worth the $17! Might try and order less toppings next time to bring down the price! But I will be back most likely.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast and fell in love instantly with this location. I believe food and service are everything and they have it down. Sandwiches are made fresh daily and to order and put on display. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, cherry danish, and a caramel toffee latte. The latte was delicious and I could only finish half of the croissant because it was so filling! This will be a staple in my morning commute coffee run. I will be back.

Delicious gem downtown Charlotte. Lunch is here!!!! Variety of fresh soups like ten to choose from! Salads and breads. I got the chicken pot pie soup and lentil soup. 10/10

My go-to place in uptown Charlotte for quick lunch! 🥪🥗🍲 They've got everything from sandwiches, salads, soups, and sweets to breakfast. 🍳🥓 Everything is prepared fresh every morning, so by the afternoon, only a few sandwiches are left!

I’ve gone to Devon and Blakely 2x a week for lunch for the past year. I usually order a Soup. I have now gotten food poisoning for the 2nd time in a month from the soup. The first time it was from the Tomato soup and yesterday it was the Vegetable Lentil soup. Food taste great but no longer an option for me if I’m going to get sick.

A hidden spot in Charlotte, North Carolina. Great restaurant for a custom salad. Devon & Blakely offers an abundance of options for a healthy meal. The staff members are very friendly and their ability to make salads is very quick. Highly recommend! You will not be disappointed.

$19 for a grilled cheese and soup is taking inflation to another level.

Yelp
Anyone else have a cold in June/July? Well I needed soup on a hot day because my office pumped up that beautiful AC, and it really hit the spot. This restaurant is only a few blocks away from city center and is fully staffed with very friendly and attentive employees. Reminds me of a sandwich shop overseas, which brings me joy, and for the quick in and out food today that I needed, I was able to get my food and pay for it in less than 5 minutes! (It was pretty dead at 11:30 am) which means I beat the lunch rush, and they were ready to go.

Yelp
First visit to Devon and Blakely for lunch. I had the blackened chicken gyro and it was delicious. The inside can be very hectic cause of multiple lines. There are lines for soup, salad, and sandwiches. There is free ice water offered inside and seating area. I will be back soon!

Yelp
Devon and Blakely seems to be filling the void that was left behind when Dean and Deluca closed, and I can't believe it has taken me this long to try it! Admittedly when I first walked in to try it, the long lines and the confusing layout intimidated me so I left. I finally worked up the courage to try it again on a Friday when Uptown was on the quieter side. The way it works is there are separate lines for soups, sandwiches, salads, and coffee. The sandwiches are premade and displayed in a glass window similar to the deli at a grocery store. If you order a hot sandwich they will heat it up before giving it to you. Similarly their soups are all on display with clear signage so you know what's available. Once you make their pick they will ladle it into a bowl or cup and hand it to you. Once you've made your selections and have everything you go to the cash registers by the coffee counter and they will ring everything up for you. Like I said the whole process can be confusing but it's worth it trust me! I had the blackened chicken sandwich and a cup of the corn chowder and they were both fantastic! Not overly expensive like I feared they would be either as with a drink to whole meal amounts to a little over $20.00 which is pretty standard for Uptown lunches these days. They had so many delicious looking soups I had a hard time deciding so I will for sure be back soon to taste them all.

Yelp
Stopped here to grab some lunch after passing by numerous times. Heard good things about it so wanted to try for myself. It's a really nice restaurant. There are numerous options to choose from - sandwiches, salad and soup. All types and varieties of each. They also serve coffee and bagels. Got a sandwich and salad and it was really good. It is pretty spacious inside, with a seating area and the food and checkout areas. It's very bright and open, making it very inviting. Staff was helpful and friendly as well. It's located in the BofA plaza building (gold medallion out front). You can either walk through the building or there's an entrance off of Tryon via the walkway between Chimas and the new Tupelo Honey restaurants. Parking garages are all around or street parking if available.

Yelp
Devon and Blakey I have been uptown for a couple months and I've seen loads of people carrying Devon and Blakely bags. My interested was definitely peaked. Today I decided to go in and see what they have to offer. I was shocked when I walked inside and saw the staff prepping for the lunch rush. Everything looked soooo good. I know its just simple soups, sandwiches and a salad bar but you can see the freshness of the items and there are loads of varieties. I snapped a few photos and walked around to see what all that they had. My friend purchasers a few snacks and we sat for a few moments. I caught the eye of Sarah the owner I believe and she came up to us. We talked for a while but the coolest thing was she brought us a freshly cooked chocolate cookie to share. What a kind gesture. I didn't purchase anything this visit but I will be back in the future to sample more of their goodies!!! Yelp
This place had been on my radar screen for quite a while. In my previous visits, I became so overwhelmed at the selection of soups that I couldn't decide which one I wanted, and left! After reading some reviews here, I see that I am not the only one who had this experience! But I knew I would return, and I finally did. And I plan to go again tomorrow. I had a container of the parmesan chicken salad, a small cup of cream of jalapeno soup (wow!) and a piece of whole grain bread which was offered to me when I went to pay- a nice surprise. The chicken salad was outstanding. Creamy, fresh tasting, and the addition of slivered parmesan cheese gave it a unique kick. I will definitely be getting that again. The cream of Jalapeno soup was also delicious-very flavorful and not as spicy as you might imagine. It was piping hot, too. The bread was fresh and tasty, and a perfect addition to my meal. The service was excellent, and I liked the laid back environment. I was there on New Year's Eve and it wasn't very crowded, but my understanding is that it is generally quite busy, so prepare for a bit of a wait at peak hours. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Their salads and sandwiches are always good. It can be pricey if you go for lunch multiple times a week. I like the option of making my own salad with whatever toppings I like. It can add up quickly though and you end up with a $13-$15 salad. The staff is always friendly and the lines move quickly.

Yelp
With the loss of Dean & Deluca in Uptown I was anxious to check out Devon & Blakely. Beautiful space but I will say it can be overwhelming for any first timer. Devon and Blakely offers soup, salads and sandwiches for the Uptown crowd. They offer more than 10 soups a day, so that is a plus for me as I love soup. I sampled two, yes, they offer samples, and I chose the Chicken Noodle. There is make your own salad bar that offers a wide variety of items to create anything your heart desires, but beware the line is long!! As for the sandwiches, they have a large selection, but all premade. So, for those who do not like honey mustard, mayo, etc you have no choice. That is a little disappointing. I love that several other places do offer premade sandwiches however there is an option to make your own, here they do not. With that said, I did order a half turkey with brie to go. After getting back to the office, everything was just okay. The soup definitely needed some more salt, very bland, and the sandwich was quite the disappointment. The honey mustard was not your typical honey mustard. Overall, I am willing to check them out again for their soups and salad bar, but not sure I would go the sandwich route...I love a fresh made sandwich!

Yelp
I stumbled upon Devon and Blakey while out for a stroll over my lunch hour. As soon as I walked in, it was a little chaotic. It felt like there were people in lines everywhere. There was no clear directions on what line was for what but I got it--one line for soup, one line for made-to-order salads, one line for sandwiches and another line to pay. Not too bad unless you want soup and a salad or some combination like that. The salads looked good but pricey. Starting at $5.00 for lettuce and then every topping was an additional 50 cents or up to $2.50 for a protein. I could see a good salad adding up quickly. I went with a sandwich. The sandwiches are pre-made but they will add/delete ingredients if you want. I got a blackened chicken sandwich with tomatoes and creole mayo. The sandwich was huge, so paying about $10 after tax for the sandwich made sense. It was served warm (toaster followed by a panini press). No sides. No drinks. Just the sandwich for $10. Good but not WOW. The next day I returned because I had no idea where to go and it was too cold to go outside. I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich and asked them to remove the brie. They added tomatoes and it came with honey mustard. Again, the sandwich was toasted and pressed. $10. Smaller sandwich. Good but nothing exciting. Overall, a good stop for a quick lunch. The lines moved fast. The location was great. Prices were a little high.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this place out for months. I work right next door. Yesterday was my first time and I've got to say, it's a pretty popular place for lunch! Don't let the long lines scare you. There are separate lines for sandwiches, soups, and salads. I thought it was pretty efficient considering how many people were there. I got the Asian chicken wrap and it was decently price and pretty good! Even though it was pre-made, the wrap was fresh. I would definitely go back there again.

Yelp
This place is always busy during lunch since it's in the heart of uptown. My first visit I ordered the chicken and wild rice soup... I did not like it and would have much rather gone to Panera bread. Theirs was too sweet and I got so sick afterwards. Today I ordered the prosciutto sandwich and it was way to salty. I had to scrape off the olive spread and I still couldn't finish it. It left the top of my mouth feeling raw.

Yelp
Phenomenal lunch options. Lots of healthy, wraps and sandwiches to choose from as well as a bunch of fresh soups made daily. I would highly recommend.

Yelp
Most delis uptown seem to be on the pricey side and I get it, to a certain point. I just paid $8 for a chicken noodle soap. While it wan't the worst soup I've had it just seemed like a bit much. Additionally, the soup didn't have that much noodle or veggies for my personal liking. Feeling a tad bit under the weather, it did the the trick. They had at 8 options of soups, a section for salads where you can order off the menu or customize and another area for sandwiches with the same concept. The service is fast but I came slightly after 1pm, a time when it had slowed down more than what I've seen in the past which was deterring.

Yelp
Visited from our of town! We arrived as they were cleaning up to close, but still were pleased to serve us! We ordered a delicious sandwich or maybe it was considered a gyro along with chicken salad. Oh how I love chicken salad! Thank you for satisfying my taste buds! Maybe we will return one day when we are back in town.

Yelp
Pretty overwhelming given it was my first time, but I went around 11:45am on a weekday to grab a quick lunch. It wasn't yet packed. Salad bar has a line at the end of the soup counter (which I didn't know being it was my first time). You step forward and tell them what greens you want, then an assembler will help you get all your toppings and dressing and put it in a container to go. My service was very friendly and efficient in making my salad. Then step over to the checkout counter and they are friendly and quick too! Great spot for a salad bar with lots of options for toppings and proteins and it was definitely filling!

Yelp
Solid breakfast and lunch spot in Uptown. Very vegetarian friendly and an enormous selection of soups, sandwiches and salad toppings for build your own. I don't exactly like that they cross contaminate when they make the salads (same tongs dip in every topping, including meats) but the city hasn't shut it down so I guess it's doable?! They will also chop your salad if you ask for it. I am also personally a fan of the turkey chili and they can add toppings (cheddar, green onions, red onions, jalapeños, and a few more) here as well. Hot breakfast bar in the morning is legit and very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. The place is a black hole and you will get zero cell service and the organization of the lines is a little chaotic, but other than that, great spot for lunch with lots of choices! Not cheap though!

Yelp
I was legitimately nervous about trying Devon and Blakely. Everyone at my office ranted about how good the sandwiches were and how fresh the soups are and how many options you had for the salads and everything else. But I resisted. One day, I was really craving a salad and let's face it. Panera salads just get old after awhile. So I decided I would make the 100 step pilgrimage to Devon and Blakely and try out the salads. Man, was that ever the right decision. The salad bar is a little intimating at first, because you build the salad yourself. Similar to a subway sandwich, you choose every ingredient. With a million hungry bankers behind you, this can feel rushed. Nevertheless, I mustered the confidence to build the salad I wanted. Ultimately, I went with an Asian sesame salad. Mainly Asian ingredients with sesame ginger dressing. It was absolutely delicious. Chopped beautifully and well tossed in the dressing. Fantastic salad. It's pricey, but it's in the BoA building so what can you do. For a salad, with no chips, drink, bread and limited "premium" salad ingredients, I paid $11. It was delicious and I'll likely go again. And that's probably what's important.

Yelp
Great new lunch spot option. Located right in front of the Bank of America building. The inside is beautiful and spacious. This is definitely a soup, salad, sandwich persons dream. There had to be at least 20 soups available and I am going to enjoy it when the colder weather starts. The lasagna soup looked so good I almost ordered a cup even though it was in the high 80s in Charlotte this week. The salad station has fresh ingredients and several options to choose from. It costs to add each topping to a base price of the greens you choose. They also chop the salads which is my preference. The sandwiches had me mesmerized for awhile and made it difficult to choose what sandwich to order. There are so many options and every sandwich looks so good. I ultimately chose the blackened chicken gyro and then sandwich was toasted. It was a great choice. The gyro was filling and filled with veggies and a little on the spicy side but has a ranch sauce in the gyro. I also picked up a bag of chips, I can not remember the brand but they are the kettle chips but a flavor I've never seen before, a BBQ ranch that is now my favorite chip. There is also a section for pastries that I will definitely try eventually. I read good reviews on the breakfast platter so I came back a few days later to see what that was all about. The platter comes with scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon and potatoes. The platter is only $4.95 which is a pretty good deal for breakfast. The potatoes are seasoned and sauteed with bell peppers and onions.

Yelp
I love the food here. I am not giving 5 stars due to the following reasons. One, I ordered a salad online and scheduled the pick up for 11:15am. I got there around then (maybe even 11:18ish) and my salad had not even been touched. The Manager (I think - he wasn't dressed in the workers clothes) searched through a pile of receipts and took it over to one of the workers to prepare. He didn't even say a word to me, I was expecting "Hey, sorry, we have been busy and didn't get to your salad." But nothing. So I followed my receipt down to the worker who then prepared my salad. She gave me Chickpeas instead of Peas, but otherwise was good. I ordered online for pickup to save time - but it actually would have been quicker to have just shown up. And no apology for the delay!! The other two times I've been - it's been okay. One visit I ordered the prosciutto sandwich, which ended up being all bread.

Yelp
First and likely my last time coming here. Was a bit hard to find. When I got in, there was nothing but chaos. Multiple lines with no clear direction where to go and no one on the floor to ask. When I finally figured out where the soup line was, I had to wait a while before I was able to be served. The workers were very impatient. I had questions about the different soups because it was my first time there. I didn't even know until another customer told me that I could taste test the soups I wanted. I ended up buying a small cup of the lasagna soup and a small cup of the buffalo chicken soup. I also got cornbread on the side. The total came out to be almost $20. It was another hassle to move through their maze of disorganization to try to figure out where to go to pay. I almost left my soup there because it was so frustrating. When I finally got a chance to sit at work and try the soup, I just knew it would be amazing for all the trouble I went through to get it. The lasagna soup was ok. Nothing to write home about. The buffalo chicken soup was disgusting. It tasted and smelled like artificial cheese. I couldn't get past one spoonful. I'm considering taking the bowl back. Major disappointment. The cornbread was good though (the only reason for the 2 stars.)

Yelp
Convenience is the only thing that will keep this place open. In addition to a confusing ordering process, they have had a sign up for Acai bowls "now introducing acai bowls" for about 4 weeks ( or at least that is when I noticed it). First time I saw it I asked for one. They didn't have it. So now introducing at a later date? I ordered it again today. Took 15 minutes and about 3 staff members to get it. When I got to my desk to eat it, it was all granola. There is about an ice cream scoop worth of acai and then the rest is granola. For $9 they are selling a bowl of granola, a scoop of acai, 2 strawberries and half a banana.

Yelp
I am a big fan of this place and come here frequently on lunch breaks with colleagues. Amazing soup selection, endless salad bar toppings, and great sandwiches and sides to choose from. I would give five stars if it weren't for the sad things I have witnessed on my last few visits. The employees are so nice and helpful to customers, and keep the long lines moving (it can get pretty slammed at noon). There is one manager that works there who unfortunately treats them terribly, and not only does she treat them horribly right in front of the customers....but the last 2 times I visited, she treated me horribly as well (she did catch herself last time as if she realized that I was in fact a customer not an employee....) I am only now writing this review because I have seen this happen multiple times now..so 'this person just having a bad day' can be ruled out. Hoping something can be done about this because I have nothing but fantastic things to say about all of the employees, including the 2 men who seem to also be in a managerial role. It makes people uncomfortable to see others be treated that way and really does deter me from wanting to return.

Yelp
I had the tomato and mozzarella on ciabatta and it was delicious. I got it heated slightly to melt the cheese and can't wait for another. I also had these sweet potato tortilla chips and they were also delicious. Great lunch but it is pricey!

Yelp
Great place for a quick meal. They have sandwiches and salads. I had the smoked turkey and ham and it was really good. I'll definitely go back.

Yelp
When I lived in NYC, there was a Devon & Blakely next door to my work on 49th. I frequented there often. You can imagine how thrilled I was that of all places, they open their 4th location right here in Charlotte next to my current work location! If you're looking for a good sandwich, the blackened chicken gyro is delicious. It is super flavorful and has the right punch of spices without being aggressive. I love soups in cooler weather, so I love that they offer a large assortment. From chilis to bisques to traditional soups like chicken noodle, they have a wide range for anyone to try. I would give this location a 4 out of 5 because the layout stinks when it's busy. It's awkward with the a growing salad line to get to the soups, and don't even try to find seating. This is definitely a grab and go spot. Check it out!
google avatar

Dominique R.

Yelp
I ordered the Prosciutto and Arugula sandwich. VERY SALTY. It's like someone chose the saltiest food items and put it in a sandwich. Olive spread? Salty. Parmesan? Salty. Prosciutto? Definitely salty. They need to balance it out. Had to scrape the olive spread and take out the Parmesan just to enjoy it a little better.

Yelp
No gluten free bread or salad dressing options, which is really disappointing. Hopefully the ownership will reconsider.'

Yelp
Great uptown lunch spot! I found the service to be friendly and prompt. I even ordered extra sauce for my sandwich on the side, no problem. I tried the blackened chicken gyro and the mushroom bisque soup, and both were flavorful. I would order both again and plan on returning again soon!

Yelp
As a transplant to Charlotte I was thrilled to see this nyc chain arrive where my office is @boa plaza. With a reputation for quality and consistency my frequent visits have not disappointed. The menu has 18 rotating soups to choose from (my favorite is the vegetarian lentil), gourmet sandwiches, and a very large, fresh selection at the salad bar, the dressings offered are very high quality and diverse. I did waffle on the last star though...... sometimes the lines are long, BUT in all fairness they do move quickly. The service is always very efficient and polite.

Yelp
Interestingly enough, I was going to write a review on the same topic as Jessie R. Assuming it is the same manager (blonde female), I have witnessed the same treatment of her with the employees, then toward myself the other day, which was the last straw. Upon check out at the cash register, the employee had a question about the total of my order (did not ask her - she was close by and heard), and she jumped right in and 'snappily' replied to the employee, then 'snappily' asked me about my order. When I responded with the same condescending tone, she backed off, but said nothing more after the transaction was complete. No "thank you," "have a nice day," etc. Nothing The employees are always helpful and have a positive attitude and the food is good. Going forward, if I walk in and she is working, I will walk right back out.

D H.

Yelp
Good breakfast prices. The breakfast platter is a good deal. Would be nice if they recycled. The salads add up quick so watch what you order. The ranch dressing isn't good in my opinion.

Liz N.

Yelp
I ordered catering online and they were fantastic! My clients loved the food and all had great things to say. They made me look so good. I highly recommend their catering!!!

Maddy A.

Yelp
Great soup! Wish they would add the chicken coconut curry soup to the everyday selection because it's by far the best and usually sells out before I can get it

Robin T.

Yelp
I am hooked on the chopped salad & it's now on the regular lunch rotation once a week. However, lines can get long & price is high as well as inconsistent - same salad can cost from $9 - $10.50 depending on the day.

James R.

Yelp
So happy to have this NYC restaurant now in Charlotte. I went three times this past week alone! The salad options are by far the best in Charlotte for variety and quality (granted that was a low bar but this place immediately raises it multiple levels). The sandwiches are excellent as well. I haven't had any of the soups at this location yet but recall them always being excellent in New York. Thanks for bringing a bit of NYC to the QC!

Troy L.

Yelp
Great grab and go made to order salads and sandwiches. It is s nice addition to the Uptown Charlotte lunch scene.
