An oasis of calm, though you wouldn't know until you step inside. The unusual entrance opens up to a floor plan dominated by a huge indoor bamboo grove towering ahead of you, with reception in the back. It grows on you quickly. Our superior king room was super comfortable and quite affordable. Really friendly and helpful front desk staff. Loaner umbrellas are highest quality, I was impressed. Great location close to Gion, Pontocho, the river, and subway and train stations.

Flawless. The rooms are spacious and the king bed is *enormous.* I felt like my partner was in a different time zone! Facilities are gorgeous, with understated and very relaxed decor concept. Bathrooms and fixtures all brand new, with exceptional housekeeping. Staff amazingly kind across the board, with brilliant breakfast buffet and a stylish bar. Huge TVs and cool aircon to round things out for a great stay. The Banjo metro station is across the street, and the top of a central tourist strip of restaurants just across the bridge. Perfect location to explore Kyoto by foot or public transportation. Would love to have stayed longer!

We had a pleasure to stay at the Dhawa Yura in Kyoto for five nights. The hotel is modern and cosy. It's also close to the underground and railway stations. The room we stay in was well equipped with a very large bed. Also the bathroom had all one could wish for. The breakfast selection was good, too. It included a buffet and made to order selection. The stuff was excellent! From check-in to check-out out they truly wanted to make our stay very pleasant and easy. To the extent that they handled a postage issue we encountered, which was definitely beyond usual service one could expect. Definitely a hotel I'd say again in Kyoto.

Great hotel, centrally located with the subway just around the corner – super convenient for getting around the city. It wasn’t busy when we arrived, so we had a nice chat with the front desk while they kindly prepared the room for an early check-in. The front desk was very service-minded and gave helpful recommendations on what was happening in the city. The manager also came out to personally greet us, which made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was great, and rooms were clean. Would definitely stay again!

An amazing hotel to get to know Kyoto. The hotel rooms were very clean and the lobby of the hotel is very elegant. The breakfast staff's professional level was on another level I hadn't seen before, making the guest really feel like a guest. The hotel was also easily accessible by metro, which makes it convenient to make quick trips to explore the city. The view from the room was of a construction site, which is why I would give it a 4/5 instead of a 5/5. Would definitely stay again and recommend to other travellers.

The hotel’s location is great — close to shopping and restaurants, and getting around was easy. Reception service was excellent, especially the friendly girl with glasses who helped bring our luggage to the room, making check-in smooth and pleasant. However, noise was a major downside. The hotel is right next to a busy road, and traffic sounds were clearly heard during the day and evening — not ideal for light sleepers. On top of that, the ceiling isn’t soundproof, and we had noisy neighbors above us. We were often woken up as early as 7 a.m. by the sound of their luggage and footsteps. The shower was a highlight, but housekeeping was disappointing. We stayed for 3 days and only received slippers once. Our child didn’t get a pair until we asked at reception. After taking showers, the slippers would get wet, so we expected replacements daily. We left the used ones in the trash, expecting housekeeping would notice and replace them — but that never happened. Each time, we had to go all the way down to reception to ask for new ones, which was tiring after a long day out. Tea wasn’t refilled either. Overall, we appreciated the location and the helpful front desk staff, but poor housekeeping and noise issues really affected our stay. With better attention to guest comfort, this hotel has real potential.

Wonderful stay! The hotel staff are wonderful and very attentive. The room was super clean. They even give you pajamas to wear. Location is close to all major things or just a taxi or subway away. Highly recommend

Really nice modern hotel (with plenty traditional charm also). Breakfast was great. Dinner (once) was good also. Bar is a bit dark / quiet - which is absolutely fine if you want a quiet drink. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Everywhere was spotless clean. Our room (at front) was noisy in the evening, but road noise didn’t go on all night (unlike Osaka, say). Beds were super comfortable.
