Our alumni group stayed at Dhenakanal Palace for two nights in December 2024. The place is around 2-hour drive from Bhubaneswar. The king himself welcomed the guests and guided us. The welcome party has a couple of cute dogs. As you enter the premises, you come across a huge room with a huge stuffed head of a Tusker adorning a wall, who had to be put down as it had gone rogue, of course this happened a long time ago. The lunch and dinner are served in a dining room with a long dinner table with the king and queen personally guiding the guests. The meals are all home-made food and are simply out of this world. You just can’t help but go for second helpings. Rooms are grand, spacious with each room being designed as per a different theme. The king and queen interact with the guest making them comfortable and recount tales about the history of the place.||This is a place to laze around, relax and enjoy nature is all its resplendence. You will continuously hear parakeets and other birds. There are places to see, if one is interested, including ancient temples, forests, hike trails etc. Maybe some activities could be added for the guests like indoor games. I loved the place and would certainly come back one day.

A great place for a weekend get away. The royal family is very welcoming. They have been able to maintain the royal charm with all modern amenities. Their knowledge of local arts and crafts is immense and it can lead to hours of very interesting conversations. The food is really well made and has a lot of local flavours. A truly royal stay.

The heart of the Palace is its sprawling courtyard, where you will feel like royalty, served delicious meals & evening tea, while all you need to do is relax. Every meal is cooked fresh & consist of traditional local & international cuisine. To walk off all those extra calories from the delicious meals, meander along the Palace's halls & passageways, lavishly adorned with antiques. The owners have 3 resident dogs, that true to the nature of this place, calmly watch & interact with guests. The staff go above & beyond to make sure you are comfortable. The beautifully landscaped gardens have flowering shrubs & offer instagram-worthy backdrops. I must mention the owners- their graciousness & warm welcome make you feel more like friends than guests. If you are seeking to step back in time, truly unwind & be pampered like family- then the Dhenkanal Palace offers it all.

16 of us friends chose this venue for two nights. The Palace has 15 rooms and all are different and nicely appointed. The rooms are large with huge bathrooms. The grounds are pretty and birds are always chirping. The highlight for me was the food and hospitality. The food was excellent and they even had a turn down service (something I wouldn’t expect in a homestay) ||Only 90 min from Bhubaneswar, it’s an ideal location for small weddings, corporate offsites or reunions (like in our case)
