Dhow House

We had the most amazing stay in this beautiful oasis of calm, tranquility and beauty. A stylish and large villa that’s beautifully appointed on the beach in Shela. Staff were amazing as was the food and comfort. We were sad to leave but will hopefully be back soon! Would definitely recommend if you want style, luxury and a quiet retreat from the bustle. We loved the dogs and Tortoises too!

Dhow House is an absolutely stunning villa right on the beach in Lamu, offering a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and tranquillity. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed into a peaceful paradise with breathtaking ocean views and an incredible atmosphere. The villa itself is beautifully designed, spacious, and immaculately maintained. The highlight for me was the amazing pool, ideal for cooling off while enjoying the serene surroundings. The private cook was exceptional, creating meals that were nothing short of London fine-dining standards – fresh, flavourful, and expertly prepared. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway where you can fully unwind, Dhow House is the perfect spot. A true hidden gem in Lamu, and I can’t wait to return! Highly recommended.

Dhow House is spectacular oasis of tranquility, with its huge tendered tropical gardens right on the beach and close to Shela. There are 8-10 well trained staff who fuss over your every need including a hugely talented and creative chef 'Baraka' who is 5-star if not Michelin standard. Breakfast was included and the nice thing was flexibility on timing and choice. Lunch and dinners is served on a grand dining table next to the sunken lounge. Dhow house picked me up from the airport with their own speed boat and organised an amazing trip to remote beach and reef for snorkeling. I also enjoyed the massage and yoga sessions in the turrets studio overlooking the sea.
