Dhow Inn has a lot of potential:
✅ The place is beautiful
✅ The beach and atmosphere are great
✅ The food is actually delicious
But all of that is completely destroyed by the terrible service.
We were a group of three people. From the start, the table was totally unprepared:
❌ No fork
❌ No knife
❌ No tissue
❌ No salt
❌ No black pepper
❌ No table mat
Nothing was provided until we asked — and we had to ask for every single thing one by one. Even sauces like ketchup and mayonnaise — we had to request multiple times. It felt like the staff had no idea what they were doing.
Then came the food disaster:
They brought the food one plate at a time, with 15-minute gaps between each. First plate comes. Then we wait. Second one. Then wait again. The third dish comes much later.
We ordered together, but we couldn’t even eat together. Totally unprofessional.
But the worst part was my order. I waited more than an hour for my calamari grill. Finally, I went downstairs to check myself. I approached the barman, who was joking and chatting with the chef, not working. I politely said “Sorry” twice, trying to ask for help. They completely ignored me — just kept talking and laughing.
Only when I shouted, they finally responded. Then we found the waiter — and guess what? He had completely forgotten to enter my order into the system. That’s why I waited one hour for nothing.
And during all of this, we were sitting at a messy table full of used dishes, dirty tissues, and empty glasses for over 30 minutes — and not one staff member came to clean or check on us.
✅ Nice location
✅ Good food
❌ But the worst service we’ve seen in Zanzibar
This is not how a hotel restaurant should operate. It shows a total lack of management, training, and care for the guest experience.
Strongly not recommended.
