Very authentic and primitive hotel. Staff is super friendly. Easy check in and checkout process. They got us free cake for my birthday, very cute. Bathrooms seem renovated, modern. Location is great; just a 4 min walk to Freddie mercury museum and close to a lot of shops and restaurants. Breakfast is served at 7 am and we had to leave 6am so they prepared us takeaway breakfast. Has a nice pool.

I stayed here for two nights in September with my boyfriend whilst visiting stone town. The main area of the hotel is quirky and well decorated. ||We stayed in one of the apartments opposite with a ‘city view’. The apartment was big and was clean enough; fine for what we needed it for. We did have a balcony, however, I don’t think this can be described as a city view. There was no view of the city, we essentially looked down into the street and mainly at the roof of other buildings. ||We did not eat in the hotel for any meals other than breakfast. Breakfast was a buffet style with fresh eggs/omelette on request. The omelette’s were nice. ||In terms of location, the hotel is in a good location for access to stone town and its attractions and is close to the airport.||Staff are friendly enough and wifi is good in all areas. All in all, the stay was okay, not the best place we stayed in Zanzibar but as expected for the price. It was fine for a cheaper option but if you are expecting luxury then stay elsewhere.

The building is beautiful but the hotel is using different rooms of an old house as hotel rooms. In our case, we were assigned to a “room” that actually was a living room. The windows were facing an interior wall of the hotel without proper ventilation. Bathroom without any kind of ventilation. The only things giving us privacy were the curtains because the doors of our room were totally glass. As soon as the staff started the cleaning at 6:00 the noise didn’t allow you to sleep. Even being a couple, we were assigned separated beds.|The breakfast for this type of hotel was good. |Recommend to visit the roof. |I will not come back since the offer of hotels there by a similar price is big

I booked this hotel through Hotels.com and had to make a simple change to my reservation—just shifting the stay by one day. Despite repeated attempts, the hotel never responded to the booking agency and ended up charging me for both nights, without any flexibility or communication. No reimbursement, no rescheduling—just a flat-out refusal to help. Very frustrating and not what I expect from a hotel supposedly rated 4 stars. The room itself was underwhelming. The bed was uncomfortable, making for poor sleep. While the breakfast buffet was good, both lunch and dinner options were bland and forgettable—not the standard you’d expect at this price point. To make matters worse, the rooftop restaurant that’s advertised simply doesn’t exist, which feels like false advertising. The building looks nice from the outside, but it’s nothing worth writing home about. The staff were notably unhelpful, especially compared to the warm, accommodating service I experienced at nearby hotels on the same trip. Bottom line: this hotel is overrated and inflexible, and I won’t be recommending it. There are far better places to stay in the area that actually care about their guests. Save yourself the hassle.

This hotel felt like a home away from home. The cozy ambiance, with its warm wood accents beautifully paired with lush plants, creates a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. Everywhere you look, there’s attention to detail, every corner has its own charm. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Perfect walking distance from everything in StoneTown. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the service is quick. The only minor drawback is that the breakfast buffet isn’t the most varied, but everything else more than makes up for it.

We had a lovely stay at this centrally located hotel in Stone Town. The building itself is full of character, with beautiful historical charm that adds to the overall experience of being in such a culturally rich place.||Our room was spacious and comfortable — a great place to relax after exploring the city. The staff were very friendly and always helpful, especially when it came to arranging taxis.||A great option for anyone looking to stay somewhere with both atmosphere and convenience in the heart of Stone Town.

Hotel centrally located within walking distanc of everything although is very tired and the room we had in is in need of a revamp. ||Shower broken. ||Internet does not work in the rooms. Hot Water needs to be turned on and you need to wait 20 minutes to have a hot shower. ||Although you don't come on a holiday to watch television it would be nice to turn it on after a long day the televisions don't work advised by reception an issue with a provider. ||A lot of external noise in the early hours of the morning little or no insulation.
