You know the food is good when you are writing the review and you can still taste the beautiful delicacies and flavors that is from Di Campli's Italian Ristorante, just through looking at the photos and writing out its descriptions. At least... that's the case for me.
Whether for graduation, date night, or fancy night out with some gal pals, or even a casual dine in, this is the place to go! Atmosphere is very lively around evening dinner time, the ambience is really wonderful, it really gives you a fine dining feel whether you're in your best dress or just in shorts and a T-shirt.
My personal favorite drink: Blue-Rose Spritzer
I don't drink often, but when I do, my preference is something that tastes sweet and where you don't taste a lot of the alcohol. This, is the drink you're looking for if your palette matches mine! Subtle blueberry hint, Rosemary was very fresh and gave the drinking extra depth of flavor you didn't even know it was missing. It's also really beautiful, have you seen the pictures? It was delicious, nothing too heavy, I didn't feel tipsy after finishing.
As you can see, the portion sizes are pretty big dinning in! At least, if you get the full-size instead of half, all of my photos are full-sized dishes.
I personally preferred sitting outside rather than inside, like I said, it is quite lively in the evening in the inside, I really enjoyed sitting outside even though it is a hot summer day, they have fans outside and you have an easier time hearing what the person from across from you has to say, feels a bit more intimate :) but could also say the same with the lighting in the inside.
Service is very professional and very great! Love the waiter and waitresses, host was great too. Everyone is very kind, and you can tell they really do want to be there!
Appetizer:
Caprese- we asked the waitress what their favorite appetizer was, and she did not disappoint. The herbs and tomatoes, pesto, everything was super fresh and beautifully paired with this amazing mozzarella and very nice and toasty warm bread. It felt really comforting to eat and the flavors all meshed together beautifully. Light, refreshing, and warming. Perfect!
Arugula Salad- I am typically not a huge fan of arugula, so my opinion on this dish, mind you that it comes with a piece of shit and feeling that I'm not a huge fan of the vegetable. However, it was still pretty good. It was very refreshing, especially with the grapefruit, and the cheese. Of course with arugula, you have a bit more bitter type of vegetable, but overall, not bad, just not my personal first choice.
Pizza:
Shrimp- I am a huge fan of seafood, like huge. I really enjoyed this pizza, the flavors were super great, I usually don't order pizzas when I go to restaurants, especially one like this one, but I thought why not give it a shot, it looked very delicious from a far from the tables I was talking while I was walking to my own. I would hands-down order this again, for those who are hesitant of the shrimp, it was very fresh and cooked very well and through, nice and buttery, flavorful dough. Everything about those was delicious. It didn't taste like you're actually eating the sea, so for those who are not a big as a fan of shrimp, I feel like you would still like this one!
Pasta:
Rigatoni White Wine Bolognese- wow. Just wow. Anyway, it reminded me slightly of a deconstructed shepherds pie, and a very good way though. It was super delicious, you don't taste much of the white wine, just a hint. It was beautiful, the pasta in my opinion was just a little bit over done when I had this dish, but it still made me come back for more. I would highly highly recommend this.
The food here was so great that after the first time I came here, I made reservations for the week after to come back.
Appetizer:
Beef Carpaccio- if you're feeling a little adventurous, go for it! Rich umami flavor, it looked and tasted very fresh, and the greens to top it off tied it all together very well. It may look intimidating to some, yes it is raw beef, but it is definitely worth a try. I'd recommend having a little bit of each element of the dish in one bite, I thought the saltiness of the capers really brought it all together well.
Pizza:
Potato and Panchetta- It was a bit more heavy than the shrimp one in comparison, naturally with the extra added carbs of the potato, however they did an excellent job with mashing all the flavors together. I didn't feel like it was going to explode or that there was a rock sitting in my stomach afterwards, I would highly recommend, pancetta was a great partner to the potato.
Pasta:
Gnocchi- it didn't feel super heavy, overall this was just really delicious, I don't know if I have any other words to describe it but that it was very great and you can't go wrong with the gnocchi here.
