We happened up Diamond Creek Restaurant by accident. This was our second time on the part of Route 66. We originally had lunch at the Grand Canyon Cavern Grotto. Their pies were outstanding, and we wanted to take the family there to try the pies. However, due to Covid, they only make the pies for the Grotto meals. So decided to check out the Diamond Creek Restaurant because we saw that they served fry bread, which my family loves. We ordered the stew and the fry bread taco. I know that one review said the stew was not flavorful. Under normal circumstances, I would agree. However, I am looking at the stew from a different perspective. I feel the stew was excellent. The ingredients were so fresh with the meat so tender. As herbs and spices as we know them now were not part of Native American diet, I did not expect the stew to be full of herbs. And if you want the best fry bread you have ever had in your life, you will find it here. We are not carb eating people, but we could not resist. We have traveled throughout the southwest and have never had fry bread like this. The fry bread was fluffy and not too oily. The fry bread taco was amazing. It was huge but devoured with gusto. The dessert fry bread with cinnamon sugar was outstanding! We need to go back to try the bananas foster fry bread, as we had no space for more food. The service was amazing, and everyone was kind. Being from a place that is hustle and bustle, you have to take the time to slow down. To us, the service was slow. However, not everyone works at break neck speed. When you are on vacation and supposed to relax, you have to let go of the urge to rush things. Enjoy the experience. Good things come to those who wait, and our meal was definitely worth waiting for. I highly, highly recommend stopping by the Diamond Creek Restaurant if you are in Peach Springs, AZ. You will be not be sorry!
I do want to make a general comment. Please remember that when you are in Peach Springs, you are on a Native American reservation. Please be respectful. Diamond Creek Restaurant is on Route 66. I saw people speeding through town like they were on the open highway. Remember that you are in town and that there are residents who cross Route 66 on a regular basis. And if you do not observe the posted speed limit, the Reservation police will pull you over.
