11 night stay in a swim up room at the end of June/beginning of July.||This is a beautiful, very quiet property which is perfect for a relaxing holiday. It is not so much a hotel as a complex of various apartments around a focal point of the enormous pool. The result is a sunbather's paradise with an abundance of (very comfortable) sunbeds and ample space poolside. No early-morning dash to secure beds here - turn up at any time of the day and you'll have plenty to choose from.||We opted for the swim up room and it was worth every penny. The room itself was a decent size, nicely appointed with a two-seater sofa, good aircon, plenty of hanging space and a very good walk-in shower. There's a pod-style coffee machine but no kettle (lovely lady on reception arranged one for us), very little drawer space (3 small drawers) and we had a round bed, which we weren't keen on but that's obviously personal preference. The crowning glory, though, is the room's poolside location. Each swim-up comes with a terrace and direct access to your own double sunbed. Two yards to the pool edge and maybe five yards to your room. Bliss.||The staff are excellent but particular mention to Despina, Markos and Alex at the bar, Tasos in Peruzzi and Christa in Emerald restaurant. You are all a credit to your profession and to the hotel.||So why no fifth star? Well I can't give it 4.5 stars and there were a couple of things that we felt just left a bit of a sour taste. First, the hotel is a bit isolated, which is not a problem in itself; indeed it means it's quiet and has a secluded feel. But it does mean you're a captive audience and the prices for food and drink reflect this. Whilst the food is excellent, if your main course at dinner starts at 26 Euros, your bill's going to rack up quickly if you want a starter/dessert and anything at all to drink. Similarly, at the pool bar/restaurant which serves food between 12 noon and 6pm, two burgers and two bottles of local beer is going to set you back 48 Euros. They're amazing burgers. But value? I'm not so sure.||Then there's the late checkout issue. Our return flight was 10.55pm, so pick up from the hotel around 8pm. Room checkout is 11am. It's a smaller hotel and apparently all the swim up rooms were required for new guests (fair enough) so we were offered a 'deal' to pack everything up and move to another room until 5 o'clock for 90 Euros. And despite enquiring as to late checkout shortly after our arrival, the hotel was unable to advise us whether this option was even available until the evening before departure.||Those things aside, we had a wonderful stay. Kos is beautiful and the people very welcoming - hire a car and go see it if you can. Kos Town has some lovely bars and restaurants and, as others have said, the bus stops right outside, is 2 Euros and is never more than 10 minutes late!
