Diamond Island Resort

It’s not a luxury hotel, but it’s really the highlight of our trip. Both the reception lady and owner are very nice, and we encountered lots of animals such as sheep, rabbits, wallabies and especially penguins. Easy access to the beautiful white sand beach and can’t believe the penguin watch in the night is complementary, our family had so much fun here, definitely will come back. Also the dinner is really nice, especially the Korean options.

Highlight for November plus visits are the penguins coming ashore. Viewing each night at the bottom of the resort field. Fantastic views from rooms. Beach access to wonderful white sand and rock outcrops for kids to explore.

We’ve been visiting Diamond Island Resort for 7 years and love it every time. Perfect beachfront location, dog-friendly, with a pool and restaurant on site. The nightly penguin show is an absolute highlight!

Stayed a night there with family with 2 level rooms and when checked in, the floor is so dirty. Kitchen utensils are unusable. There is a restaurant in within the premises which the food is so so.. The only plus point is the surrounding scenery

The rooms were clean and look simple and a bit empty but had everything we needed for one night stay and good for the price. The staff was friendly and when the sun is out it is very peaceful with nice views. The penguin tour was very nice too. I would recommend this place to others staying in Bicheno. We stayed in the ocean terrace room which was downstairs.

I would have given 2 stars except there were decent numbers of penguins. I expect a guide to ensure everyone got decent exposure by having people sit down on the seats provided instead of standing in front of others, and that once they had seen inside the burrows on the walk that they moved and let others have a chance to see as well but every time we had to ask people to move so that we could get a few seconds glimpse. I've done the penguin visit at Philip Island and although it was twice the price it was a much better experience as the guide made sure we all saw the penguins and that there was consideration of others. Would not do it again in Bicheno.
