I love the chocolate truffles! Since moving up to Northern California, I've been missing these so I was able to stop into the Beverly Hills location to get my fix.

I am obsessed with this place! Not only is Diane an extremely sweet and generous shop owner, but her chocolates are amazing. I recently bought mini bouquets of chocolate for Mother's Day and my family has also fallen in love with Diane Kron Chocolatier.

I was super excited to find this chocolate store. I bought a dark chocolate bar for my husband to surprise him from my visit to Malibu, not realizing that there was no ingredients on the back of the candy bar, and my husband is very strict on what he can eat so I reached out and spoke with the owner, and she was unable to give me any kind of assistance and told me not to purchase it then, very disappointed with customer service feel like I wasted a trip to what I thought was gonna be an amazing chocolate adventure major fail

Blink and you’ll miss this tiny shop with the best chocolates! She doesn’t have your typical gianduia or hard-shelled truffles but you MUST have her cocoa dusted truffles. They are RICH and pure -to die for! And she has pecan crisps and a few other fun variations that you can try (she is very generous with her samples). But I guarantee you won’t leave without the truffles!

Diane makes the best chocolates, probably in the world, I love the chocolates that have a shot of my favorite liquors inside! Only thing better then the chocolates is Diane herself. I have the pleasure of helping her fedex her chocolates to customers all over the world!

If you are debating whether it's worth the premium cost for quality chocolate, the friendly staff will let you try just about everything. Very tasty treats. I always get a bar of the dark chocolate ($15) when I'm nearby.

Blink and you will miss this petite little candy shop on Santa Monica Blvd. It is itsy bitty but super cute. Service is excellent. Luxury chocolates beautifully packaged. Hours are mostly afternoon weekdays. I wanted a dark chocolate gift and got this adorable bag of dark lucky's (70% dark chocolate). They are excellent. I also got some crispy chocolate bears. Highly suggest you try for your next chocolate fix or sweet gift. Pro tip: The garden of roses gift box is perfect for Valentine's Day (see pix on Yelp).

I came in excited to buy chocolates. I started to browse and was shocked when the woman at the counter told me I would not be able to make a purchase for 10 minutes. She gave no explanation as to why. The store was completely empty apart from me. I walked out without making a purchase.

K Chocolatier has been in its little shoebox-sized store on Little Santa Monica forever, with idiosyncratic hours (often open from just 1 to 5 PM, closed Saturdays as proprietress Diane Krön is Orthodox Jewish). The selection is not huge, but she makes certain things I wouldn't try to get anywhere else ― specifically, her alcohol "shots," little balls of dark chocolate with straight hits of vodka, tequila, or scotch. Yes, other places do liqueur balls: Swiss chocolatier Teuscher just down Camden makes nearly the same thing, only with Calvados, Poire Williams, Grand Marnier, etc. But when gifting for the person who likes a more proletarian tipple, Ms. Krön's versions are spot-on perfect. Plus, they make a great gift to delight those folks who already have more than enough Patrón or Chopin bottles to last a lifetime. Other offerings include simple truffles, some items (ginger, orange peel, etc.) dipped in chocolate, cute little puffed rice teddy bears, and my favorite, her delicate Pecan Krisps that are paper-thin and enrobed in semi-sweet dark chocolate. Everything from the look of the candies to the packaging has a sort of modernist, minimalist feel to it. K Chocolatier makes for a great alternative to the traditional Belgian or Swiss chocolate options of precious jewel box candies without falling into the avant garde cardamom-bacon-praliné-shaped-like-a-human-skull weirdness one finds at many "artisanal" chocolatiers. Just cross your fingers you get there when it's actually open.

I love the different flavors and varieties that this place offers for gift packs, and just great chocolate all the way around LOL! Every time I go to Malibu this is literally the first place I stop and I never hesitate to purchase one of the big bars of milk chocolate that is so delicious that I literally eat the whole thing before I even leave Malibu LOL But I also recommend doing the dark chocolate blueberry, or the cherries, or the many other flavors that they will let you sample it is well worth a stop here in the value is as sweet as the flavor! Natalie is super fun and friendly, go say hello!!

WARNING: K truffles contain ALCOHOL The K truffles are good but had a faint alcohol flavor so I searched online for the ingredient list and was not able to find it. I ended up calling the store to ask and was told that it had rum in it. They really should warn their customers of the alcohol in their truffles. Unfortunately I let my son have some before I called and asked since they never mentioned the rum when I bought it. The lady that answered the phone was Diane and she was very matter of fact and not apologetic at all about the fact that my son had unknowingly consumed alcohol because they failed to inform us. She just said that they're not required to since they are a small store.

Not bean to bar, but delicious nonetheless. Diane is so sweet! We spent a good 30 minutes talking before I made some purchases. She explained how Jackie Kennedy loved her sweet treats and how they are recipes from her mother-in-law who was Hungarian. A cute little shop! Be sure to stop in. We easily spent $50 in here. It can get a lot more expensive than that quickly. Enjoy!

I do not think I have ever been treated as sweetly and warmly as I was here! The two women working were so enthusiastic and kind, and gave me so, so many samples that I finally yelped, "No more!" I can down A LOT of chocolate before reaching my limit (honestly, I am not sure this had occurred previously), but that sure happened here! K Chocolatier is located right in downtown Beverly Hills, and your best bet is to utilize a parking garage and hoof it around. While here, you may as well have a choccie day and explore the...at least four other chocolatiers in the immediate area. K stands out with its cute, brightly colored pop-art aesthetic. Goodies are sold by the package (i.e. no case from which to select one of each type), which is okay, you've just got to be pretty devoted to your selection(s) as prices are rather high ($25-$50 per pack), though notice I am not saying undeservedly. I just value variety, and, while in the (teeny little baby) shop, nothing quite captured my fancy enough to make a purchase for myself. I did need a gift for some alcohol loving friends, so snatched up a tube of the vodka shots. I was informed these are made with Ketel One, and I'm sure the tequila and scotch shots are filled with liquors of similarly high quality. Now, as I said, I tried many treats, including kokonuts (soft, melty, coconutty magic), marzipan (loved that it was not too sweet, but relative to the filling, the chocolate coating was a bit thicker than I prefer), and simple, perfectly chocolatey, smooth, and melty truffles. After I checked out, they pressed a small tube of vodka shots into my hand, exclaiming I needed to try them myself considering the ones I'd purchased were a gift, along with a little baggie of K Bears. I'm telling you - they were too nice! This was also a great regret, because I wish with all my heart I would have tried those K Bears right then and there. Coated in either milk, dark, or white chocolate, they are magically filled with puffed rice. Not just a few grains mixed in, as is typical with puffed rice treats, but a whole center of it somehow compressed in a bear shape. These were intensely crunchy and satisfying (not to mention adorable!), different from anything I've had elsewhere, and I'll probably just have to have some shipped to me! If you cannot make it to Beverly Hills, I also saw one of their shops in Malibu, in an all-around more accessible and less busy area. I won't promise that the employees there will be as charming, but I bet they are. Now go get yourself some K Bears!

specialized service, best chocolate in the country and cost is not that bad! If you want a top notch gift, here is the place to go. Diane is really sweet and helpful. They have a great selection of gifts, candies and chocolate. It's a small location but its filled with goodness.

FAVORITE CHOCOLATIER IN LA! I am obsessed. OBSESSED with their chocolates. You must get: - Truffles (not too sweet and has the perfect consistency) - K Bears (airy cookie inside) - Tequila Balls (Watch out because they put a good amount of alcohol in it. My dad absolutely LOVES these because he's a sucker for alcohol-stuffed chocolates. My husband wasn't a fan haha.) THE TRUFFLES THO. If I had to choose just one item, it would definitely be the truffles. My mom, who thinks all chocolate is too sweet, is in LOVE with the truffles. My husband also ate the entire bag within 24 hours. It's just that good. They are really generous with samples. So sweet of them! Keeps me coming back for more! Enjoy!

I walked past this chocolate shop while walking around Beverly Hills and was immediately intrigued - it was a small cute shop right along Santa Monica boulevard a 2 minute walk from rodeo drive. The shop boldly claimed - "the Rolls Royce of chocolate". I don't know much about chocolates, but I was curious and decided to go in. It is a tiny, tiny shop, almost a kiosk size, but the presentation of the chocolates was done beautifully and just draws you in. As soon as we walked in the three people in shop immediately helped us and offered huge, full size samples. No small cut up samples at this shop! I was really surprised how generous they were. Some of the individual samples they gave us (and they kept shoving us with samples nonstop) retails at 2 dollars. A two dollar sample! And more! They gave us probably 10 dollars of samples and were not pushy at all about us having to actually buy anything. As for the taste - oh the taste! I have been to Switzerland multiple times, the country with the most famed chocolate in the world. And I have to say that this place quite rivals it! It's highly recommended and one of the best chocolates I've ever had. Give it a try! They make beautiful gifts with amazing packaging also. These are sure to impress!

We stopped by in a busy bustling sunny Sunday afternoon to have Chocolates after a time on the beach in Santa Monica. We chose an assortment of dark chocolate with fillings, and also chocolate covered orange peels, I found my favorite. The chocolate was delicious. The prices are very high.

Liquor-center in its original alcohol form~! * GET - Pecan krisps = toasted pecans covered in dark chocolate. * YES - Adorable & fancy packaging options. * YES - Free samples...worth it to know what you're paying for! These are fancy schmancy chocolates that'll serve as the perfect gifts or party favors~

What a lucky day it was when I stumbled by K Chocolatier! On my way back from the drug store I decided to go a different way for a change. It's not a very large shop. Quite small actually, easily missed. I didn't have much time but it was impossible not to go inside. Ms. Krön was there and insisted that I try her extraordinary chocolate. She also insisted I take some for my wife (which I did). No charge by the way. Today we had an opportunity to go back together and do some real damage. Our selections included: Dark chocolate Vienna marzipan (no description necessary), Spanish Orange (dark chocolate covered orange pieces), K Bears (these are white and milk chocolate covered crispy brown rice pieces in the shape of bears)(not sure how they do it but they actually look like bears, in an abstract bear sort of way), K Truffles (to die for), Koffee (crushed pieces of coffee bean covered with chocolate), Pecan Krisps (these are amazing dark chocolate covered pecan sugar crisps, OMG), Vodka Shots (illegal in some states)(Amazing!) and last but certainly not least the Kokonuts (coconut bits in a dark chocolate mousse rolled in sweet chocolate powder. Sorry I needed some help in describing them so I copied it from their website)(cheating, yes I know but you have to agree they're a little complicated). K Chocolatier is better than teuscher. There, I said it. It actually reminds me more of the chocolates from the small shops in Geneve. Simply the best.

This Christmas we had K Chocolatier chocolate truffles, chocolate covered blueberries, and chocolate covered cherries. This chocolate pairs well with champagne. The packaging of these chocolates is very elegant. They market this chocolate as the rolls royce of chocolate-- i tend to agree.

not the largest selection but the chocolates are well made. i wish they sold more individual or smaller sets. the truffle melts in your mouth but the bars are a bit too sweet and thick. the liquid center chocolates are a good idea but not my taste. the service was a bit stiff and they did not seem excited to explain or answer any questions. the store is clean and nice but not too big.

One of the premier chocolate stores left in Los Angeles. Their crispy bears are absolutely amazing and once you open a box, you can't stop eating them. They are a great company if you need chocolates for an event as they have great ones with alcohol including blue label and vodka. Yum yum

YUMMERS!! I love chocolate. I am allergic to alcohol. But I don't have a problem with chocolate filled with liquor. So that's how I do my happy hour. Shots of chocolate. Diane Kron, the pretty lady who is the owner of the store, generously gave us samples. I sampled so many things and they were all yummylicious!! She told me the recipe is a secret family recipe from Hungary. I got vodka chocolate balls, whiskey chocolate balls, and Hungarian drinking chocolate. This place is kinda pricey so I can't afford going here too often. $40 for each bag of chocolate balls and $20 for drinking chocolate. $100 for those 3 things...ouch..but so worth it.. 4 stars!! K Chocolatier is yummylicious!!

I saw this place on the Food TV network a few years back and had to check it out on one of my visits to LA. I was happy that the owner, Diane Kron, was indeed there and she was so friendly and generous... offering us plenty of little sample treats of our choice. I loved it because she just offered it to us, not making us have to appear desperate to try them... even though we really were. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what she was REALLY trying to do.... get me HOOKED. Well honey, job WELL DONE! All of the chocolates are divine, especially the K Bears and the truffles TO DIE FOR ( apparently these used to be Jackie O's favs too) I have always wanted to try the K Sensuals, but I'm too damn cheap to buy them. The only little negative aspect of this place for me was the price because it ain't gonna be cheap, but it is gonna be goooood!

Exceptional chocolate and superb customer service! Agree with Richard R, its better than Teuscher. I like this place little bit more than my other favorite shop, L'artisan du chocolate in silverlake. Diane is such a sweet lovely lady, she will make sure you walk out of the store happy with your purchase! Never met any one so sweet and helpful at a retail shop. I can see why Jackie Kennedy loved their chocolate! The truffles, pecan crisp and the teddy bear crunch are all amazing! Perfect place to pick up chocolates for your very picky, chocolate snobby friends from Europe! ^^

Happy Valentines Yelpers! I found this gem close to my office and so happy I stumbled upon it! My colleagues & I shared the K truffles and they are the bestest. What an aphrodisiac delight!! The window displays of cute packaging drew all of my attention and they get a major positive fist bump from our team ;)

I love K Chocolatier. When I used to live in Los Angeles I'd always wanted to go, but never made it - it wasn't till I moved to San Francisco that I finally tried it and I was so glad I did - it's amazing! It's a tiny shop with not very many gimmicks - they have a variety of choclates, all of which are made fresh everyday. The absolute best thing is their signature truffles - pure dark chocolate excellence. Also try the "crispy" bears - perfect treats for a small chocolate fix. They also provide you with amazing samples and you get more samples after you purchase anything in the store. To top everything off, customer service is amazing - they've always been very friendly and helpful. They're open everyday of the week now, which is also great. You have to stop by this place!

This is long overdue. I've been enjoying the chocolates by Diane for years. She put together nice gift boxes with truffles for guests at my wedding and she did a beautiful job. My favorite is the K Bears which come in dark, milk and white chocolate. My second fav is the truffle which has a delicious creamy texture. The packaging is almost equally as nice. They have a cute cardboard box (with K Bears) shaped like a house which makes for a great house-warming gift The owner, Diane, is so nice. She remembers my 93-year old father and sends home a few of his favorite chocolates - so sweet!

My favorite chocolate store. The blue label filled chocolates are divine. The little chocolate bears are beyond addicting. The truffles just dissolve in your mouth. I actually prefer those refrigerated and served cold. Even the chocolate covered orange and berries are amazing. Bravo Diane.

When looking for a suitable gift for chocoholics, this is a store to visit. The two women were very helpful and accommodating. The second-day shipping price was reasonable compared to prior experience with other chocolatiers. Although I was not there for myself, they provided some excellent samples. From the thank you's received from the gift recipients, the truffles were a superb choice.

K truffles are everything a supreme truffle is supposed to be: small, decadent, irregularly shaped (so you know their hand rolled), complex on the palate, melt-in-mouth and yes...expensive! K Chocolatier turned this non-choco-holic into a huge fan!

Another year another update. K has stayed consistently incredible from the day I first received them as a gift. My favorites are the scotch and the vodka. For gifts, my favorites are the pecan crisps. You can't go wrong with pecan crisps. They always have samples available to try. After all these years, I just try them for the hell of trying them. I already know I like them but they always offer and I'm not one to decline a sample....most of the time. I can't get over how good the liquor chocolates are compared to other companies. There's just no comparison.

Forget Compartes, forget Teuschers, forget all the other French, Swiss, Belgian chocolates. Just head to Beverly Hills (you'll walk by it if you aren't paying attention as the store is tiny) for the BEST, riches handmade truffles, and an assortment of other delicious chocolates. My favorite to gift are the dark chocolate crispy bears, and my favorite to EAT are the truffles and pecan Krisps. They are not cheap but you won't need but one or two pieces to satiate!

I cannot complain about the product, however when I walked into this tiny little store with my wife, the first words our of the ladies mouth when I approached the counter was if I was aware of the prices! I purchased a few of her candies, and was not overly impressed with the product. It was very good but no different that the similar candies from my personal favorite See's .. Really don't need the Beverly Hills attitude. It's chocolate, not gold! Lots of great chocolate tiers in Los Angeles that appreciate my business.

Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, there's nothing more appropriate than a review on K Chocolatier...it's sure to impress your Valentine! Why give your Valentine a boring dozen roses when you can give the gift of chocolate in a pretty box made of paper mache roses that will last forever...I received my own box of chocolates when the boyfriend surprised me with it as part of his anniversary gift. Let's just say I was one happy woman! Need more assurance? If that doesn't surprise you, the classic *K Truffle is absolutely amazing. I enjoy chocolate like delicacies, and these truffles are the dark chocolate lover's dream. It's frozen or chilled than served at room temperature, but I like my truffles a little cold and then the cocoa power and the truffle swirls together to work its magic. The dangerously-good items on their menu are the *K Pecan Krisps and *K Bears...I can munch on these all day until they're all gone! The Pecan Krisps are toasty, and of course, covered in dark chocolate. The K Bears come in a mixture of white, milk, and dark chocolate and they warned me, but I did it anyways...and now I'm addicted to all this crunchy chocolate goodness. *K Luckys are smooth, silky, and perfect to let it melt in your mouth. I've heard people can be in a relationship with their food. After having these chocolates, I know what they mean. Guarenteed, it'll make you happy in an instant. I loved these original dark chocolate solids - perfection of bittersweet chocolate. The lasting impression? "If this is what it's like to be CHOCOLATE ROYALTY of my ideal CHOCOLATE LIFE, I'm all for it. In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy my K Chocolatier!"

Teeny, tiny shop with some of the best chocolate truffles I've ever had. They are super rich - like so rich that you can only have one. But that's why I love them. They also have the cutest little favor boxes and some really unique chocolates. The crispy teddy bears are good but it's really all about the truffles... Prices are quite high, but I do feel the quality lends themselves as great gifts for someone special or a nice treat for yourself if you are having a craving!

Visited the one in Malibu a while back and had a fantastic experience. Recently ordered some chocolates online and was blown away by the amount of care put in (handwritten cards, email from the owner, etc.) Highly recommend as always for the best chocolate I've tasted!

OK, here's what you need to do. And I'm FOR SERIOUS!! Add the following entry to this week's to-do list: - Eat a truffle at 'K' Chocolatier Trust me! If ever you heeded my words, let it be now. It is THAT good. It is SO good that it deserves its very own slice of your "My Busy Day" pie. It is SO good that you will find yourself uttering the words, "That is the BEST piece of chocolate I have EVER had." I can't recommend anything else from 'K's, as I've only tried the truffles. Actually, that's not true. I did try the teddy bear chocolates once. Despite their immense popularity, I didn't care for them in the slightest. They tasted like any ol' chocolate I could buy at the grocery store. Worse even. Eek....sorry Miss K!! They sure are cute though!! :-/ Oops. One word of caution. And here it is. EXPENSEEEEVOOOO! Oh yes, these little babies are na-cho ordinary confection. You can't just buy a couple to take home for a few bucks. Believe me, I tried. Those little boogers will set you back 35 buckeroonies! $35! And that's for the smaller box!! It's only slightly larger than a cassette tape!! And yes, I did say cassette tape. And yes, I still own those. Oh, but my friends....every cloud has a silver lining. The lining on this dark, gloomy, overpriced cloud is....SAMPLES!!! Do I sound like a cheap-skate? Yes. Do I care? No. Because those chocolates deserve to be savored like only I can savor them (and maybe you too) - with sincere adoration, admiration, and appreciation. And being that I cannot afford to pay $35 for chock-o-lahtees, this is my only recourse. See, the thing is....I don't just stuff them in my mouth in one fell swoop. I take little bites, and let them dissolve little by little on my tongue. I taste every nuance, and feel every texture (solid, powder and mouse). I make love to it. Don't worry, I've only partaken in this delicacy twice (a year apart)- one single truffle each time. I don't go to the store and fill my face with free samples, I assure you. And I don't condone abusing sample privileges either! One day, when I have the means, I will more than make up for the two truffles I ate. I'll buy a box (a BIG one) each month! Ohhhhh my delicious and sweet host of hosts!!! 'K's truffles may very well be celestial creations sent down to earth to elevate our souls to heaven. continued to get chocolate from Krön until the mid 80's. Then somehow they disappeared from the city. Of course there was no internet back then, so finding out what had happened to them was not that easy. Though Krön was no longer in New York, I carried the memory of their chocolates in my heart. Friends who had never had the pleasure of experiencing Krön chocolates would hear me wistfully recall those days and in the telling, I could almost taste those chocolates once again. Fast forward to the year 2000. On a trip to Beverly Hills, I found myself walking down Little Santa Monica Boulevard and I passed in front of the tiny storefront of a chocolate maker called simply K Chocolatier. The K had un umlaut over it, reminding me of Krön. Curious, I went inside and asked if they were any relation to the Krön Chocolatier of my youth. To my utter delight, I found that K Chocolatier was actually the creation of Diane Krön who had cofounded Krön Chocolatier in New York with her Husband Tom Krön. It was then, after all of those years, that I learned the history of the Krön chocolates I had loved and about the new K Chocolatier which I would love equally. Tom Krön was the great grandson of the chocolate maker to Emperor Franz Josef of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Tom and his wife Diane opened Krön Chocolatier in New York in 1973, basing their creations on Tom's great grandfather's recipes. They quickly become the chocolate supplier to New York's elite including Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis, Barbara Walters, Katherine Hepburn and Andy Warhol. They started franchises of the company outside of New York and eventually sold the company in 1983. The Kron family retired from chocolate making and settled in California to raise their family. Yet the family love for chocolate making was too ingrained to stay retired forever. In 2000, Diane Krön opened a store in Beverly Hills and started making a new line of chocolates under the name K Chocolatier. Diane Krön's chocolates are modern chocolates with sophisticated recipes based on the Krön family formulations of cocoa powder ratio and viscosity. K Chocolates are made with the finest cocoa beans and roasted using a Hungarian method. But the big difference between these and other chocolates is that they are made using as little sugar as possible. The chocolates are all about intense flavor, not heavy sweetness. A dark chocolate shell coats an interior of pomegranate made by squeezing the skins and seeds into a gel. The sweet yet tart pomegranate compliments the chocolate perfectly. You also have to try the K Bears. Crisped rice coated in dark, milk or white chocolate and shaped into little teddy bears deliver a nice contrast of crunch and chocolate. An adorable and flavorful treat, these little bears are sure to please. Of course these are but a few of the many varieties offered and I assure you that you won't be disappointed in any of them. When you are in the store, they insist on letting you sample the chocolates. This is a win-win strategy, because you get to experience their chocolates and once you have, you are addicted. The packaging, all designed by Diane herself, is both innovative and beautiful. The packaging varies from sleek modern designs, to plastic cocktail shakers for the Liqours and all the way to packaging that looks like floral arrangements of roses. Hello my name is Maribel & I am a chocoholic.... ...seriously crave it every afternoon after lunch. :-) Anyways, during one of my weekend get-a-ways to Lalaland, after hanging out on Malibu beach, I passed this place & had to walk right on in. It is a small little shop but it is filled with LOTS of yummy goodness. The girl in the shop kept offering me & the BF lots of samples! So, I had the K bears (milk chocolate covered rice crispy treat like shaped like a cute little bear)....yum! Also dark chocolate large chips and coins...yum, yum. Also offered us some truffles....OMG...I was sold! Bought a small box for $25 (about 15 truffles). They are so decadent! They also threw more samples in the bag for the ride home! :-D -1 star because it is soooooo pricey!!!! Do recommend walking in if in the area to get your free chocolate samples but it will take will power to walk out & not buy anything!

Insanely delicious, complex, velvety dark chocolates. The creme de la creme of chocolates and chocolatiers. This place was made famous after Jackie O declared them a favorite but the owner, Diane Kron, hasn't let this go to her head. She's sweet and lets you have plenty of samples. I came for a gift and she also gave me a complimentary small bag of chocolates to enjoy! There are cute crispy teddy bears, classic truffles, nut covered, vodka/rum/scotch hi-balls, beautiful "garden of roses" and bouquets of flowers, all made with Diane's luxurious chocolate. Oh, and shockingly expensive.

My boyfriend and I wandered in on a whim yesterday and we were bamboozled by Diane's yummy chocolates! I kind of wish we ventured in there BEFORE we went to Sprinkles. The chocolates are amazing. She was so generous and asked us to try everything. We were graced with Diane being there and she was so kind. She even gave us a lot of history about her chocolatier. Very interesting... We'll definitely be back - this is one pure gem in Beverly Hills!

Oh. Muh. Gah. I may not not any better, but this stuff is delicious! I stopped in with a friend who wanted to get her mom a gift for her birthday. It was the first visit for both of us, and we walked in around 5:45pm this evening (Thursday). K is a very tiny place - the kind of place where you walk in, take two steps, and you're out the back door. That doesn't make sense since there isn't a back door, so never mind. It's small. There are bags of chocolates all over, with opened boxes of chocolate shipments (from the New York location? Where do they make their chocolates?) strewn about. As we walked in, Diane was helping a couple of customers, and she warmly greeted us, offering us some samples... Chocolate covered crispy rice and her famous cocoa dusted chocolate truffles. These were absolutely divine. I'm no connoisseur, but I've always loved chocolate. All I really know is that I don't like the cheap drugstore chocolates or Godiva chocolates, but I grew up eating and loving See's chocolates. So maybe I'm a 'simple' chocolate lover, but K's is simply wonderful. As she helped my friend pick out a beautiful gift box/basket with an assortment of bite-sized chocolates, she offered us more samples. So we obliged :) We tried vodka balls, tequila balls, and scotch balls (wow! I could only handle the vodka); the pomegranate pieces were scrumptious; the pecan crisps were lovely; the koffee thingies were marvelous; and even the orange pieces were really good - and I usually think chocolate and orange are gross together. I never have been a huge fan of most chocolate truffles, but K's were awesome, and I couldn't stop eating them (there may be rum in them?). Apparently, Jackie Kennedy used to love her truffles back in the 70s and made the New York store famous (Diane showed us the photos in her little scrapbook). The prices are a bit extreme for me, but I'm still giving K 5 stars for pretty much blowing me away with their chocolates (oh! and they have drinking chocolate!).

A super tiny chocolate shop with floor-to-ceiling windows caught our attention the other day; despite the small space, quite a few people were attempting to squeeze in and navigate to buy some chocolate, so we thought we'd join the hubbub! Diane, the owner, is a complete sweetheart. She gave us lots of samples, and helped me find some souvenir chocolate for my parents back home (including my diabetic, chocoholic father). The chocolates are really delicious; my fav is the choco-covered crispies...they remind me of my childhood candy BunchaCrunch, but waaaaaay better. I hope I can return soon to try all the other special treats!

This is by far the best chocolate place in LA... the vodka & tequila balls are sooo insanely good!!!! They're beyond description- you just have to try them! My favorite gift for the person who has everything... and a wonderfully indulgent treat for myself- when I've been good! :) The service is wonderful. I used to always see Diane, who's just a fantastic hostess. She'll have you tasting the entire store (& getting a little tipsy off the vodka balls) while you shop. The girls who work there now are fantastic! I don't know where she found them but I'd try to hire them away if I still worked in the retail world. Shopping at K's is an unexpectedly fun experience & the chocolates are out of this world!!! Try the tequila balls ( I don't even like tequila, but OMG!!!!!!!!!!!)

My first day, I passed this place with curiosity but failed to stop in. Second day, same thing. Third day, I found myself $260 in debt!! I can't believe I spent that much on chocolates - in one day! So I need to curve my chocolate purchases for a year and hoard my holiday chocolates like squirrels do with their food during hibernation. I walked into this tiny specialty shop without any knowledge. Not sure why I did not yelp this place. I wish I did. The older lady was very kind. Her and her assistant kept pushing the samples on me but I declined. After pointing out their most popular treats and hesitantly paying my purchases, I then ate as much samples as I could!!!!! Especially their vodka filled chocolate balls! She was so nice that I came away with extra luxury sweets. She was telling me of her wonderful experience in Hawaii and to mimic our Aloha greeting, she gave me a flower (holder) filled with their famous chocolates along with two additional bags of their pecan crisps and truffles. How awesome was that! So why 5 stars: the quality of the chocolates is top-notch and the service was above and beyond, creating a wonderful experience. There's a reason why the Foodnetwork calls K Chocolatier the "Rolls Royce of Chocolate".

I'm not into cranberries. Hey, you've got to draw the line somewhere in this modernist age of haze. But I will regard the beliefs of others and since it was Thanksgiving and cranberries became part of the tradition somewhere along the lines, I picked up some of the dark chocolate that's covered in those red balls of bite, aka cranberries.
